Makoto usurps the role of leader of the Phantom Thieves from Ryuji, Morgana, Ann, and Joker. Yusuke becomes an absolute background character after his arc is finished and it is made worse since his type isn't the intelligent/planner so after Makoto and Futaba take over the plot you will only hear Yusuke say something once or twice in a cutscene and that's it. Ryuji is a net loss for all cutscenes and his skills at "dude trust me I'll find us a target" are overwritten by Futaba.
If your name isn't Futaba or Makoto, Persona 5 took a dump all over your characterization, skills to help the PHantom Thieves, and cutscene screen time.

Looks like they're going to be adding a lot of scenes so I'd imagine so. The problem with 5 is that most scenes are dedicated to getting whatever villain of the week exists at the moment so most party interaction just revolves around that shit and drags way too long with any slice of life scene being cut short for the dumbest reasons.

To play devil's advocate here, I thought Morgana's reason for being upset wasn't just that, but also the fact that Futaba took over his role as the battle navi, and his knowledge of the metaverse wasn't as exclusive as it was in the first two palaces when he had to explain the metaverse's logic step by step, because everybody in the party starts catching onto the rules after some point. The process of stealing hearts becomes so routine that the Phantom Thieves gradually become capable of handling all this shit on their own without Morgana's guidance, his mentor role is slowly diminishing, and he's starting to feel like they're extending their pity to him rather than the other way around, which hurts his fragile pride.
