they fucked him and dark fact in the remakes.
I beat both just fine on the PC-engine but gave up on Ys 1 on the psp. It's still bullshit that you need to be following a guide though.
How the fuck are you supposed to know how to get the silver sword?
Or that you need to talk to luta to get to dark fact?
Or that you need to break a pillar to stop the "noise" (I thought it was poison) in the tower?
They also got rid of that cool ending that was on PC-engine

I haven't played the PC-Engine remake but I'm quite sure all that shit you mentioned was in the original, PSP remake is just being faithful.

All of those should come naturally to you if you follow what the NPCs say and explore everything.
I had to backtrack to Luta to get his item as well but it does make sense to return to an NPC after completing the task they give you.

The Eternal/chronicles remakes (on PC and PSP) are everything you could ask for in an YS 1&2 remake, they even let you play with the pc-88 soundtrack which is obviously the best one. Other versions have all sorts of changes from the original, different map layouts, gameplay changes, etc.
Actually now that I'm remembering correctly, eternal adds a whole starting town to YS1 that wasn't in the original.
Honestly just be a chad and play the pc-88 versions, the music's got real soul.

You have three choices between soundtracks on PC and PSP so you can use either the PC-88 original, 2001 rerelease version or an entirely new one.
