Yeah, seriously. Generals belong on /vg/, not Yea Forums. Except for ffxiv, wow, smash, ow, /pol/, and ror threads.
1st place bonus is based on the room, 4th place penalty is based on the current rank. Adept 3 and Expert 2 lose more points for the 4th place than they gain for the 1st in silver/gold rooms respectively

I would've kept that hand without riichi, 3 han is enough if you have a bad wait, especially on a dealer seat. The guy probalby thought that 3 man shoud be safe because of suji but suji trap is kinda high level bait for gold room.

It's really weird that's not yet a thing because they even have a loading screen tip about there being a setting for that, but then there just aren't any.
Just go play on the jp client then, surely moon rune is not a problem for you.

It's literally just nyaggers who pon kan and chii at every opportunity. I'm glad because they're usually getting 3rd or 4th place and it's fun seeing them fall.

It's time for east vs west battle.
Either point penalty or it doesn’t count. I don’t know.
Will there be a new Nikaidou Class/quests after that?
I am hoarding coppers since I will soon qualify for Gold rooms
it probably just doesn't let you riichi hand that doesn't meet the minimum as is.
I would assume it doesn't even let you call the tsumo if you don't reach the han limit before uradora.
Good because it's not chinese.

Either that or you can't tsumo. Shit like haitei/houtei or rinshan can technichally still improve your hand after riichi after all.
Uradora definitely don't count to the minimum requirement though. But I don't know how exactly that rule works.

Finally I'll be able to watch Throne Room games
GGs feels good to be a luckchad.
When are you supposed to kan? I get that pon/chii is for speeding up and securing some worthwile hands at the expense of information and defense, but why would you kan?
Is it just for suukatsu/sankatsu and stealing dora, or are there other benefits?
When in riichi
>see missing tile
>call
>complete with a terminal
>mfw no yaku possible anymore
When you are sure you've got a very good chance to win.
Does it help you?
Does it help you more than your opponents?
Probably not, so don't. Suukantsu and sankantsu are both shit yaku from nevereverland anyway, don't even consider them.
That said closed kans can be kinda fine if your hand is good and close to tenpai (or already in tenpai) and upgrading pons can be good for the same reason. Opening your hand for a kan is just dumb though.
ikr and the ears are annoying as well. why cant she take them off?
When it's the last round, you're way behind, and you're praying to god that you get a favorable dora out of it
about the only time you would kan is if the tile is a dora and you already have a guaranteed yaku to go out with
>the only open hand in existence is tanyao which isn't even allowed to be open in professional rulesets
>mfw all dragons and winds already discarded too often
>mfw seven away from chinitsu
do explain the fuck you're supposed to do
Yeah, but if that yaku is just 1 han, you're not even increasing your score or only by 300 points. Figuring out when to kan isn't really that hard if you understand the basic concepts of the game.
Is it worth pursuing chitoitsu with four pairs?
I see, that's unfortunate. Maybe i can play some games with 520 chips.
>go for tanyao or yakuhai hand no dora
>catfag calls kan

Yes and because you don't know enough abbout tile efficiency. Riichi dora 6 wins games.

Yes, it is entirely on me.

If there are 4 kans in 1 game it's a draw
Unless they're all made by the same player.
Then the fifth kan causes the draw.
That seems really useful. Why doesn't the tutorial teach you these things?
extremely rare situation that newbies don't need to know yet.
Because it happens once in a hundred matches at most
if the tutorial tried to teach you every little intricacy about the game it would be like 4 hours long

This game would be a lot more fun if it allowed open riichi
So what happens to the excess items collected from the event? I have 1 book and 3 glasses left and I already claimed all the rewards. Will they be converted to coppers or carried forward to the next events?
>This game would be a lot more fun if it allowed open riichi
No it wouldn't. You're probably somebody who watched Akagi once and thought open riichi seemed like a cool rule but that's completely removed from how it works in reality.
At even moderate to high levels of play, people are going to bail once somebody declares riichi unless they are either close enough to quickly end the game or to chase. If a second person declares riichi, the last two players go full betaori in the majority of games. What this means is that if you are ever going to declare the second riichi, it's almost always in your favor to declare open riichi because the noten players will not deal in anyways but still have to play defensively against the first riichi, and the first riichi cannot defend against you anyways so all you are doing is giving yourself a free han for essentially no risk.
No way, there's more than needed event items because it gives you a chance to still get everything even if you miss out 1 day.

Being aggressive against riichi when your hand is worth less than mangan and will end up with a closed wait is called being retarded, actually.

Novice probably can't start cause I'm too high ranked. Will take my leave.
Rank has nothing to do with it
Could've sworn something similar happened before. Some user with high ranked JP account joined the room while I was still a novice and couldn't ready up. Then again, it only happened once and havn't encountered the 'bug' since then.
I got it from playing mahjong phone game that had it, not from akagi.
Made it to Adept 3
Now I'm too scared to play
Same, Expert rank isn't how I'd imagine it to be. One deal in is enough to wreck the rest of your game unless lady luck decides to show mercy on you.
>denying dealer hand
>getting closer to 1st place with additional 3300 points
His hand was good enough and he could've called Pon for 5p and 9p if there was a chance.
And he had enough safe tiles to fold whenever he wanted to if he had drawn a bad tile anyway.
>closed wait
It doesn't matter you pessimistic fag. there were still 4 2-sou in the game not yet discarded.
and he can Chi that 123s too to get a 5-9p shanpon wait.
Just because he failed this time against a suji trap, doesn't make it a bad decision for him.
He simply lost a gamble.

And winning that hand would put him closer to becoming 1st or even make him 1st. On the other hand, discarding 3m isn't even pushing that hard. It's one of the safest tiles in his hand. The only others that are safer are 1s, 3p and haku.
You can even argue for pushing a little with that pic. His hand may be iishanten, but he can call tiles. His hand is scoring not that high, but he can attack 1st place with it. The waits are kinda bad, but not the worst.
Without the flush and the 9pin it was a trash hand anyway, at least you're in tenpai.
>cat food supplier
Rationalizing a mistake instead of learning from it is a pretty bad idea.
>t. dany
You're arguing for folding against a turn 4 riichi that may just be 3 han anyway ffs. Even if it's dealer. you still won't fall to 4th and 3m is relatively safe because of suji. Even if you fold, you probably run out of safe tiles after 8 turns or so anyway. Have fun dealing 3m then.
And you can't even deny the rationale.
Instead of crediting yourself for setting up a nice suji trap, you're just simply discrediting his rational gamble to take a chance to get 1st place.
How do you use this? Maybe it shows the uradora?
MD5 is one-way formula

You get yourself enough horsepower to decrypt passwords and use that to reverse that string into the desired format. Which would be a huge waste of electricity.
>And winning that hand would put him closer to becoming 1st or even make him 1st.
It doesn't matter, you don't need to rush and risk all your points for a tiny ray of hope. I am not that user you're arguing with but he's right, the decision is simply dumb.
>On the other hand, discarding 3m isn't even pushing that hard. It's one of the safest tiles in his hand.
The suji trap is not exactly an uncommon thing. With such an early riichi it can be anything.
>The waits are kinda bad, but not the worst.
This is not enough against DEALER riichi.
What I should waste my items from the event for? I should buy items to bond with the cat? or just waste it into copper? I kinda want another character so I don't feel like bonding with the cat.
Betaori fags are the ones winning. And if you've played any board games that involve dice rolling you'd know that the best way to win is, unsurprisingly, minimizing the amount of rolls you need to take.

Yeah, let's just throw out all the dangerous tiles because why not. Yea Forums once said that nobody does suji traps because it's simply too convenient and can't happen naturally. He had another option to throw 1 sou and see what happens.

Can someone explain how the waifu mechanics work? It's not clear how you increase your bond or summon new characters, or what's locked behind a pay wall and what you can grind out.
holy shit nigger
>People genuinely arguing with the LUL JUST CHASE 1ST PLACE retard
Regardless of whether this is a troll or a genuine retard, you replying to him won't really change a single thing. Judging by the way he's posting, I won't be surprised if that's the same guy who kept going about how he'd be the highest ranking player ever if only he tried.
Can someone explain how dealer wins work in detail? The thingy next to the riichi stick counter.
If I win a hand as dealer and the counter goes up to 1. And then the next hand is won by the guy to my side the counter goes up to 2? Does the bonus for him also increase?
Let's say the guy on my right is dealer and I end up winning all hands until I'm dealer. It adds up invisibly until I'm dealer?
Actually it's good to check people's profiles sometimes, it can help you understand other players and figure out which hand is better to use.
>tfw can't turn gifts into stardust
dostedt
Learn like one or two yaku and just play for them. Starting out, don't try to call pon or chii. Focus on building a closed hand. If you get to the end of the game, discard strategically to keep from dealing into your opponents' hands.
The ones from the event? Because they are ultra jews on this game. They are locked so you can dust them.
Fucking shitass cock cunt bitches
What am I suppose to look at in that pic?
what the heck
You're getting buttmad that some people actually push their potential game-winning hands instead of folding all the time.
It's a photoshopped (you)-bait implying that the guy declared can on 1m instead of calling ron on double yakuman true nine gates. The auto-ron button gives away the fact that it's photoshopped.
>nobody will ever chase my riichi

telegram.me /addstickers/majisoul
Come get yer waifu stickers.
It is perfectly clear though.
Bond increases by playing and with gifts.
You summon characters by paying for gacha rolls (even if you pay there is only 5% chance you will get a new chara)
You get 1 roll chance by buying a summon scroll after donating 50 green gifts (blue gifts are worth 5 green gifts) and using the dust you get from them.
All the cosmetics (riichi music, different riichi sticks, riichi special effects, characters, tsumo sprcial effects, tiles, mats) are locked by the gacha paywall, but as I said before, you get 1 roll chance by dusting your gifts.
I really need pic related explained. I won 4 turns as a dealer. Then me and the guy on my right were noten while the other 2 were in tenpai at the end of the round. So the dealership passed on.
But the counter went up from 4 to 5, why though. The new dealer wasn't even in tenpai and had to pay at the end, shouldn't that count as a lose.

Mahjong is just poker with silly terms and fuckhuge hands. Don't get me wrong, I love it after having my first few games, but it's literally higher IQ poker.
That being said, I fucking suck at this game.
Absolute madman
Mahjong is closer to rummy than poker.
Soo how exactly am i suposed to get a lot of chips to play ranked? I made 500 in a day but then each game costs 60 and only first place doesn't lose them. Is it pure jewery mahjong? Free mode is not bad but i want to play ranked because that's the main point, or some league, tournament, not just shitter mode. Can someone enlighten me about chip issue? I am not even asking how to get waifus because it's probably tied to irl currency with gacha, i mean it's sega after all.
Also i am not exactly sure about the difference between ranked rooms. 120g one is probably some kind of tournament mode and the upper left one is ordinary ranked room.
I believe in the meme dream machine
call the 13 and haitei wait on 3/8, the classic akagi strat
Update: Shouldn't have believed. Got hit by a baiman.
absolute mad lad
I always forget Rummy is a thing, but you're totally right. Poker is just the addicting game I'm more used to. Fucking casinos, why do I still go
Could this trash become a valid hand through anything other than houtei or closed yakuhai?
I think it's because rummy is seen as exclusively a game for kids even though it has rules that are as complex as 'adult' games like poker or bridge.
Chankan
the fanart of this "game" is getting really out of hand
It'll only be out of hand when there's fanart of those big pieces in places they aren't meant to be.
Based.
In an open kan?
>The Mexican game of Conquian is considered by games scholar David Parlett to be ancestral to all rummy games, which itself is derived from a Chinese game called Khanhoo and, going further back, Mahjong.
Well I'll be damned
Shit, this blew my mind more than when I found out "unicorn" was a piece in Chess.
Why can I sometimes not discard tiles after a chii?
No swap-calling
That's backwards tho, Mahjong came from Khanhoo
You can't discard tiles that could be part of the sequence that you chii'd.
Example: you chii 1 for your 2p-3p sequence, then you can't discard either 2p,3p, or 4p.
You can gamble them using the 3 player, 1 hand mode and hope for the best. I earned 30k from that, the payoff has been nerfed now, though, but still profitable.
Huh. Okay.
No, it's just the end tiles that are restricted. If you have 23p and chii on 1p, it's only 1p and 4p you can't discard.
Left 60g = for 10 Kyu+, Tonpuusen (East)
Right 60g = for 5 Dan+, Tonpuusen
Bottom 120g = Hanchan (South)
You don't pay any coins if you get 1st
Can a niggy get sum link?
wrong
You can't discard the tiles that would complete your sequence only. So 1 and 4 after you call 4 and reveal 23 since both complete 23, 5 if you call 5 when you already have 456 since that 5 completes 46 sequence.
Thanks
Or you know, it's just another case of the common sight of an early hand opening call fucking over a great hand later.
Explain chankan. Arcturus makes no sense
You can win from a tile the player adds to their open pon to form a kan. That's it.
>someone calls pon
>subsequently calls kan
>draws the kan replacement tile
>discards it
>you call ron
retard
you win off of the kan tile, not a discard
This doesn't answer my question, I have this guide already, I'm asking in what I should redeem my shit on.
Let me rephrase, I kinda don't feel like bonding with the cat, but since the items are locked I should do it anyway? or just spend it on copper?
retard
>why do so many cats kan seemingly at random? Are they just chinks pushing shiny buttons?
yes
>why do I still lose?
because even a retard who's flailing his arms around will still get a hit in against an opponent who literally does nothing because they're not used to retard arm flailing techniques

Just played a bronze east that was literally 12 rounds long. How do things like this happen?
>I don't like this game because it encourages people to win it instead of fail at it
When the dealer gets ron/tsumo, the round is repeated.
This happens until the dealer doesn't win a round.
I had a game that ended in West 4 yesterday.
For the first time in 11 years of knowing this game, I actually started wondering: what happens if nobody is above 30k after North 4? Does East start again? I wonder if that scenario has ever happened.
>Even my biggest think is worse than retarded chinks pressing buttons
Why do I even bother
Doesn't the additional round end as soon as somebody gets 30k?
It does, that's why I mention 'if nobody is above 30k after North 4'
What a great way to start a game and end up with 700 points at East 1.
Learn2dora and you can easily work yourself out of Bronze. Hell, this is a quick guide on how to get out of Bronze:

Could I? Don't get me wrong, this isn't me being snarky, I'm just so full on tilt today that I can't really tell my mistakes from pure unluck. Could I really expect a hand of this caliber from his discard and considering the absence of any calls from him? What exactly should've given away that the 2nd 1s (the first I discarded came from a pair, that was actually the real dumb decision in that round, since I pretty much destroyed my only pair as soon as the third nan came) won't pass, unlike the first one? Just won some points back, but 1st place gives ~50 points less than 4th places take away ;_;
Chess with anime girl avatars when?
>play gold east
>last place
>-3000 copper
okay, that's a big no from me, I'll stay in casual quick mahjong in silver with most of the playerbase and stay away from tryhard shit with much punishment made for masochists.
My progress is going really smoothly and when I get to Expert 3 in the future and about to reach Master, I'll do my best to de-rank as much as possible so I won't get expelled from Silver forever.
FUCK GOLD+
play bronze east
You lose
A relatively light unlucky streak in Jade (like, 2-3 4th places and 3-4 thirds with not a single first) burns through like ~100k coppers in a matter of one evening. The welfare check in Jade isn't really that big either - just 18k.
"i am not actually that good at mahjong and just want to occasionally ron shitters in lower ranks"
stopped reading there
The probability of getting into tenpai for 13 orphans in 10 draws (not counting the first one) if you start with exactly 9 unique terminals/honors is approximately 3.1% (if no one wins before that, of course). So it's either a last resort or "alright, I can afford not winning current hand".
It's not about losing, but about the punishment from losing.
I don't want to get punished heavily when I lose. I love my copper.
If I want serious mahjong, I'd play Tenhou instead.
>toss a betaori tile
>12k damaten ron
>learn what a dora is for
I would say I do all the things you mention (except riichi because I'm a fucking beta) but now you are scaring me. Is there something to the dora I have missed?
when you make one
Well it's the last row of discards and he suddenly drops a sou tile after only discarding other suits for the whole game. Of course most of the time that doesn't mean shit for a closed hand, but it looks like high expert ranks and Jade niggers really love going dama.
You should always pay attention to discards.
It's literally free han
FREE HAN LMAO
Also start riiching. Bronze player's biggest weakness is that they can't defend, so they deal into it constantly.
>toss a safe tile
>it wasnt a safe tile
>It's literally free han
What I had the frigten over was it being something else as well. I am glad I am not completely behind everyone else.
Guess the only thing left is to press the free sex button at every opportunity. It just feels so goddamn wrong.

how to mahjong bingo
I didn't want to cheat on the game or myself. Just got first place and made it to Expert.
Go to your item storage and select that bingo quest card. You have to have some of those tiles in your winning hands. For that card, you have 4 games to finish that bingo. You don't have to get everything, though.
>misclick and discard the wrong tile
>the next turn draw what would have put me into tenpai if not for the mistake
My flow!
One more thing, I guess there's not that many players in the Jade room, so you might take notes and remember people who go damaten often.
Can someone help me out? I've a 10 game streak of ending in 4th place. It just keeps happening. I tried taking a break, I've read the rules over and over, I try to keep an eye on othef people's discard but I just continue to lose in the most miserable way.
I don't want to quit but I'm nothing except miserable ever since I made it out of bronze.
What am I doing wrong?

yes it does for me too. I just use firefox now
It's fantasy money, and as seen this event they'll be giving out chunks of fantasy money anyway.
mahjong "flow" more like mahjong flow out my ass
and I need that fantasy money to buy fantasy items and to actually play the game.
Why buy fantasy items when you get them from chests?
>since I made it out of bronze.
You do not know true misery
Spheres for 50k
Switch to South
You get spheres from chests though, you're just wasting money.
If I get good at this can I force people to strip when I win?
can I make them marry me?
Duh
Looking at the first two rounds it doesn't look too bad.
Mainly just bad luck. Try playing south so you can afford some mistakes.
Nearly had the damn thing too.
Ew
Did you read our Lord's and Savior's Daina Chiba's Riichi book? I assume you haven't because you discard 2p on turn 7 in the first hand. You want to have 5 blocks of tiles in your hand, and preferably no more than two pairs.
The blocks in your hand are 233, 468, 2234, 78. You're short one and you draw 2p, turning 468 into 24 68. 5m is a lone tile so the most efficient move here is dropping it.
Your deal in could've been avoided too. As a rule of thumb, a player is in tenpai after making 3 calls in the first row, 2 in the second and 1 in the third row of discards. There will be exceptions, but in this case the guy called three times and it's only the beginning of the second row. At this point you shouldn't be discarding dora unless it's genbutsu.
Here's the book: dainachiba.github.io
South game 70145
How the fuck did I end up in South 3 in a East room?
Too many tanyao niggas
There's no problem with your efficiency
Your opponents were luckier than you, but a lot of your discards against opponents' tenpai were awful YOLO-tier.
I need 20 spheres of 2 specific kinds.
so far, I've gotten NONE of the specific ones for my waifu. I have to buy them.
>There's no problem with your efficiency
>literally keeps dragons for no reason and discards 23m because of that in the second hand
Please don't give advice

Can someone post tonegawa mahjong faq meme
Just be patient. You're going to play the game anyway and you'll get them as you go.
Except now you wasted all your copper so you can't even play the game. Big think.
MANGAN ONLY LET'S GO BABY
Is there actually any point whatsoever to folding in bronze rooms?
It barely even affects your deal-in rate, because no-one else ever folds, under any circumstances. Betaori only really protects you from one person, and since the other two keep building their hands regardless you're still almost as likely to deal into them as you are the guy who reached tenpai first. I'm fucking fed up of dismantling my hand to protect against the guy who riichiid, only to be Ronned by the guy to his right with a mangan from dora tiles anyway. I seriously wonder if I'd be much better off with 0 defence, I'd still get Ronned about as often, but that way I'd win a few more hands at least.
I don't know, I left bronze in like 10 games.
E1) you shouldn't discard live tiles (tiles no one has discarded) if you see someone on tenpai for a toitoi, and that was a dora too, don't discard live doras against people in tenpai.
E2) it can't be helped.
E3) it can't be helped.
E3+1) it can't be helped.
E4) I understand why did you discard that 8m, las place in the last round so I won't blame you for not goong with the 100% safe 5m.
Your efficiency is not the problem, look at discards so you can defend against players who riichi or are blatantly obvious with their open hands.
Your real problem though, E2 to E3+1. You're playing east games, if you don't win fast and hard, you're not gonna make it, if you get ronned once, you're done for.
Play south games.
I've had silver rooms available for a long while, but went back to bronze because I was close to reaching gold, and wanted to save my coppers for it. Maybe you're right, and I should go back to silver. It might be less irritating at least.
CUT MY TILES INTO BAIMANS
THESE ARE MY LAST DAMN POINTS
Classic bar sinso
What's that character from? She's cute.
Frame Arms Girl Laetitia
It was sneaky and most people would fall for it, but seeing him discard all these 2p 3p 3m and so on and finally dropping a 9s could indicate chinitsu/honitsu.
Most people wouldn't fold here though. It's so unlikely.
>implying flow doesn't exist
Good game. Shine on you crazy nyamonds.
Actually got to 1-shan-ten for Kokushi in that last round lol.
If first gave as much as 4th that would be an acceptable curve
BE A NYAGGER!
new chapter is out
because it's cute
I don't dislike Kirinji but it fails to catch my attention. It's like if you took both Akagi/Ten and a sport anime but took out good parts from both so you end up with dozens of chapters of people excited at Kirinji making cheap hands over and over.
>still no doggo husband
rip
How are you supposed to defend against people who are in tenpai without obvious hands but don't riichi? I can maybe tell if they have obvious shit like a hon/chinitsu or chanta going but stuff like dora stacking with pinfu or closed tanyao/yakuhai and a decent wait is really tough
To distract yourself from tinnitus.
Unless it's late into the game (3rd rows discard), you don't.
HK-style mahjong doesn't count bonus points towards the point minimum, so maybe this will work the same way. So if you're playing with a 2 point minimum, if a flower tile gets you your second point it doesn't count towards it and won't let you go out.
yolo
>dual sided wait on double riichi
>get beat out by someone else riichi and they tsumo
Literally everything that applies to defending against riichi applies to other hands as well, so I'm not even sure you can do that right.
To add insult to injury, the tile they tsumo on is one of your winning tiles.
You can defend against damaten, it's just harder. If you mean recognize whether they are in tenpai or not, you can guess around when but that's about it. Then you just defend appropriately as if they called riichi. You may just end up fucking up your hand over nothing too but it depends how far you want to go in defending
Could be worse.
>Double Riichi, two-sided wait.
>Deal into 13 orphans on 10+ turn
Happened with a guy on a tournament.
>drop 8 draw 6
>drop 1 draw 2
>drop the dora because I have no tiles around it
>next turn I get it again
>AND AGAIN
I'm talking about how I'm supposed to deal with some guy at turn 5-6 being in sneaky tenpai with an open wait mangan besides suddenly eating a ron
>Buy a mahjong set
>No one to play with
If nobody's above 30k at the end, you go into extra rounds
Basically, just get fucked, nerd.
ok, can somebody please help me out here? I know the basics on yaku and han and that at 5+ han, you stop counting fu, but I'm trying to practice manually figuring out scoring myself and what I see in game doesn't seem to match the formula I found.
The formula I found was (fu x 2^(2+han))
I know the base fu in most cases is 20, plus whatever for your hand comp, then rounded up to the nearest 10. Looking at my hand, I see 4 fu for the closed triplet, 2 for the closed wait, and 2 for tsumo. Add that up and I get 28 which rounds to 30 so that makes sense so far.
That makes (30 x 2^(2+4)) which got me 1920 as the base value. I wasn't the dealer so the payout should be 1920 + 1920 + 3840 but that lands me at 7680.
So what am I missing here that got me to 7900?
Anons please help me understand why i cant win with this hand. I was told it was because i dont have any yaku, so can someone please explain?
>south 4
>might be able to get a comeback
>lolno redraw every fucking tile you discard, should have went for 7 pairs with every tile you decided to keep instead
Everything is rounded up to the nearest hundred. So it's 2000, 2000, 3900.
It rounds payments upwards to a multiple of 100.
2000+2000+3900=7900.
You have no yaku.
God that looks ugly.
I'm really thankful Mahjogsoul is so polished.
What part of "you don't have yaku" are you having trouble with?
Because you have an open hand that has a mix of terminals and honors. The wind you have doesn't help you because your seat wind is not West. in order for it to help you here, it would need to be the same wind as the prevailing wind (East in this case) or the same as your seat wind (also East in this case, so you would have actually gotten 2 yaku had that been the case). Basically, the only way out of this situation for you would have been to turn that 123 into a triplet of something because all triplets is a yaku.
The red dealer slab is on the seat across from you, which would mean you're West. But the portraits on the edges of the screen say you're East seat if I'm reading them right. If you have no yaku I assume the latter is true, because otherwise west triplet would count.
Google what yaku are. Your hand needs at least 1 of them for it to be valid to win with.
Awesome. Thank you both.
The red thing is round and initial dealer indicator, it doesn't move
We need no limit hold'em anime with lolis
You need to do at least one of these in order to declare a legal win
Thank you user. I am still learning about the seating positions that incorporates into the rule
>minimum han setting
OHNONONO CATBROS WE GOT TOO COCKY
People don't actually math out the formula, they just use a scoring chart.
Count han from yaku and dora, if it's under 5 count the fu as shown here, then reference the chart.
People generally memorize the mangan+ values over time
>a mix of terminals and honors
Shit, meant to say terminals/honors and simples.
Basically, unless your hand is closed or you have a specific pattern going, like all triples, seven pairs (though this one can only be done with a closed hand), 9 gates, full flush, full straight, etc, OR you can get yourself at a triplet of a dragon or seat/prevailing wind, you don't want to be mixing melds with honors/terminals with melds that are all simples. As soon as you open your hand like that, it's generally difficult to recover from because you either have to completely rethink one of your melds or you have to pray that you get one of the tiles you need on the last draw, since you'll likely put yourself in furiten by having to discard something that already "completes" your hand.
are there more slides like this?
What set did you get?
Let's say I'm first place with a decent lead and last place disconnected.
Is it bad ettiquette to ron the active guys when we're post South 2?
It's good etiquette if you let me win.
I want to FUCK a cat
I thought i had one with this hand. Btw if i get a concealed kan is there ever an incentive to open it?
If you have the 4 same tiles needed to perform a concealed kan, where are you going to get the 5th one to turn it open?
aaaah cocks
t. me
Is that the set that's on all the UK sites with nothing but that one tiny low res photo?
Can you take a pic of it?
Anyways don't give up user, I had zero friends who even knew what the game was when I first got my set but then I got a bunch of people into it
Any Yea Forums rooms?

>Is that the set that's on all the UK sites with nothing but that one tiny low res photo?
I don't know, I bought it here in Sweden. It's still in the mail, so I can't take a photo, sorry.
>He hasn't hacked his mahjong so he can kan his kans with 16 of the same tile
COCKS
If you mean declaring a kan when you have all 4 tiles on hand, that doesn't count as opening your hand.
I try not to put them in last place, or if 3rd place disconnects, I try to let the guy in last climb out. But that's as far as I go, if you need to ron someone, do it.
Okay i understand now that a wind has to be either my seat or prevailing but with your explaination is there a specific reason why its bad to mix honors/terminals with simples? If in my case the wind was east. Is that good for my hand?
I'm not sure what you mean, once you declare concealed kan it's down on the table and you can't touch it or make it "open." It's only revealed to people because a kan is treating four tiles as a meld of three, so it just needs to be revealed for hand tile count purposes but your hand still counts as concealed as far as yaku and scoring go.
If you mean just keeping the four tiles in your hand without declaring it as a kan, you can do that but it's not a kan and you can't count that four as one meld. You'd have to treat it as a triplet and then stick the fourth tile to something else or whatever.
Okay semantics. I meant if i get all same 4 tiles without stealing, should i kept it closed or open it and declare that i have this 4 same tiles
wait a minute, that artist.......
If you don't declare it as a kan it's not a kan, it's just tiles sitting in your hand that need to be built into sets of three and a pair.
I can't find the source no matter what.
Ah i see thx
>most of the fanart is from girls you get for free
because they're the best
Well you should post pics when you do, I wanna see it
It looks like his style
pixiv.net
More question. If i created a meld from a chi or pon. Is there any reason not to go all in and take a chi or pon all the time if its beneficial for your hand. Since you are already playing an open hand?
That's a lot of little girls
>lolishit
eww
>3 times in tenpai with pretty decent hands, 8 - 12k without counting possible ura dora
>riichi like a retarded cat
>player right of me tsumos every time, not even decent waits
Just what kind of hell sands has that miko been snorting
If it's something like a chinitsu where you don't have all 4 triplets/sequences + the pair figured out for your hand yet, you might screw yourself over by calling too much and make your hand harder to complete since you can't use your called tiles to help build other sequences like a 23456
Other than that, go for it. Just know that it'll be far harder to defend if someone calls riichi
>私はあなたの優しいメキシコアーティストです... BORNTODIE
lol its a mexican taco taco taco
It also says "BTD" on the pic so yeah
It makes it more obvious what you're doing (e.g. honitsu, toitoi) and it lowers your ability to defend. With three calls or even lolfour, you can easily wind up not having a safe tile to discard against a monster hand.
Who really cares?
Ron them into negatives while spamming smug emotes. It's supposed to be a game you're playing to have fun, they don't need your virtual points to live, you don't need to donate to them.
I once started with all the honor tiles and 3 terminals, and one of the cats got tsumo on their 2nd draw for a 2k hand.
All my hopes not even allowed to flourish a little
By calling more you decrease your maneuverability and defensive options and also make your hand and wait obvious.
mahjong is surley the biggest proof that the occult is real.

Finally out of silver. Is 129 toppusen decent speed for it?
What happened to her? That looks like a completely different character trying to pass off as her with only the hairpins and fannypack.
saki author died several years ago and ghost writers have carried on since.
Because the prevailing wind was East and your seat wind was East, you would have had 2 yaku in a single meld. You only need 1 to score but it they would both still add their han values thus scoring more points. Sometimes people count them as separate, sometimes they lump them in and just call it "double East".
In the case of having winds that aren't your seat wind or the prevailing wind in your hand, it's find to have them, in fact they can even help you because triplets/quads of them are worth more fu than simples, but you need to have a valid yaku somewhere else first.
In the case of your hand, if you turned that 123 into a triple of literally anything else, it would give you a valid yaku of "all triplets". That's worth 2 han by itself and the fu would be determined by what you actually had triplets of and the state they were in (open vs closed).
Lastly, as I said, had you stuck with that hand, you wouldn't have been COMPLETELY shit out of luck but the odds would have been very stacked against you. If the final discarded tile would complete your hand OR the final tile in the wall would complete your hand (and you're the one to draw it), that DOES count as a valid yaku, but the odds of that happening are pretty bad, plus, depending on your hand composition, could be next to impossible. It's going to require you to discard something from your already "completed" hand which will mean you can't claim that same tile back for a win if someone discards it (you'll be in Furiten and it will only allow you to win if you draw it). In your case, you could theoretically discard one of those 6s and then pray that either the last discard is a 9 OR you get the last draw and it's a 6 or a 9. Like I said though, the odds of that are shit.
Dang Jojo you got sent to the shadow realm
IT JUST KEEPS HAPPENING
maybe getting alternating 1st and 4ths is your power?
So clearly the winning strategy for you would be to play alternating in bronze and gold room.
I'm struggling to think of a more depressing answer to that question.
>mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com
This has nothing to do with the chinks, if you're variance is that high, your understanding of playing defensively and when to do it are terrible.
If those are friendly room logs then right on though, playing with risk is still preferable to silver room "pros" who spend the entire match betaori.
>isn't even allowed to be open in professional rulesets
Wrong. No "professional ruleset" disallows open tanyao.
Those games are in Jade, and even in Jade the difference between 1sts (~130-150) and 4ths (~190-210) is already big enough to make this lesbian power completely obsolete. In Gold I'd be losing even more for 4th places, too. ;_;

think im getting worse as i read small sections of riichi book 1 then go play... think it might be best to not play until ive read the whole book but im so slow
Pretty much all of those 4th places are of this nature though: Tilt does play a small part in those losses, but for the most part it's shit like this.
is this true?
Literally not a single professional tournament has open tanyaos, the fuck are you talking about?
I would say the other way around is better, the riichi book will just tilt and confuse you until you have the fundamentals down more.
No one noticed that tournament match is gonna be active soon? Maybe F2P will finally have a way to get shit once that's running.
Im gonna try my best to just play chill but I bet I'm gonna get ron'd in east 1 then be tilted for the rest of the game. 3/4

It's more like rummy than anything. Take turns drawing a tile and discarding, put together a winning hand first to win the round and get points based on how valuable your hand is.
You sit in a circle, yell KAN CHII PON and slam tiles down on a table until the Ronmaster sees enough and declares a winner based solely on style points.
