>It did better earlier in the year
Which was when it was on steam. Guess the moneyhat didnt work out at all, did it?
THQ investors says Metro Exodus and Satisfactory on the epic games store is shit

Yeah but what the fuck does it matter when EGS pays upfront?
>random twatter thread
Who is "Wingefors"?
I mean, I'm not surprised, but isn't part of the thing with EGS exclusivity deals that they're imbursed for a certain number of sales automatically?
Should've stayed with Steam. That's what happens once you let the chink menace get the better of you.
it was obvious
It was incredibly obvious games on EGS were selling like shit when epic bragged about WWZ selling 250k units. Its a pretty fucking bad sign when thats the most any game has sold so far.
Long term damage to the brand?
THQ investor group, they're the ones who get info from THQ on how their games are doing.
Yes they outright make them an offer they can't refuse.
Some of these indie devs probably have made enough from EGS bribes to stay solvent for like a decade.
literally who
Shinichi Kudo
Public humilation and destroyed reputation
Lars Wingefors AB is a private investment company based in Karlstad, Värmland, with a portfolio of companies including those that we have started and businesses in which we have invested at later stages. The company’s founder and owner is Lars Wingefors, who is an operationally active CEO of THQ Nordic AB (publ).
Well obviously if in the middle to long term going on Steam would've made more profit it matters to them. But that's very hard to prove.
People were whining like little bitches but still bought it on that dogshit chink launcher so long term it's just going to get better for EGS when the manchildren calm down.
I dont know, for wwz that sounds pretty good when you consider that it has a ton of shit not helping it, such as the title and being a zombie game.
Thats more because the game had a mary sue forced wimmin. Word got out and people stopped buying.
The issue with that is if no on is buying it, no on can recommend it what more often than not will secure further sales, along with the whole consumer backlash it's bad PR wise. After this year we will see less and less AA & AAA companies do exclusivity deals with EGS, apart from the ones that have already signed away x amount of upcoming games like Ubisoft.
You're probably right, Chang
>Do nothing
>Win
The satisfactory dev jokes on Twitter about how they've only sold 8 copies
While I know the number is way higher than that, you can tell he's upset about how slowly it's moving
>it's just going to get better for EGS
>meanwhile their recent sale was a PR disaster with publishers pulling their games from the store because Epic didn't inform them about the sale
>people getting banned if they tried to buy multiple games because there's no shopping cart function and you had to buy every game separately which flagged your account
hasnt be a good couple of weeks for tim sweeny bros
They very clearly did not get the sales they were expecting, so longterm devs will only turn down deals with EG and save their reputation
It will be fine depending how much money they are willing to lose before upping the rates to valve's level because obviously this shit is not sustainable.
I don't even know what you're talking about so no, word didn't get out about whatever bullshit excuse you're pulling out your ass.
Whoa, picking a controversial, unestablished, barebones, Chinese store over the biggest digital games outlet in the world has reduced sales numbers? Inconceivable. I'd say I hope he sees reason and acts on it, but I really don't care since it's just THQ.
>the only thing you do is jerk off to VR using index
>still win
Gentlemen, how do we feasibly stop Valve from getting away with it every time?
It was only a matter of time. Between copying Reagan's trickle-down bullshit word for word and abusing his fortnite employees, it would do the Epic brand wonders if he would just shut up
I think its that they signed exclusivity for a year, when it does reach Steam it'll be old news and no one will care.
Well yeah most bugmen dont have the Social credit to buy and play games
>If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.
So metro exodus is guaranteed to be $60 when it release on steam next year?
"The only winning move is not to play"
>The greatest victory is that which requires no battle
Can't wait to see BL3 flop and see pitchford finally murder someone.
What CAN we do?
How can GAMERS such as ourselves ever hope to RISE UP and help the OPPRESSED DEVELOPERS Yea Forums?
EGS trying to topple valve is like Aldi trying to topple Walmart. It just aint gonna happen. They're too big
That kike gaben should lower it to 88/12 and be done with it. More income for devs = more likely to get games
>ROCKET LEAGUE ACQUISITION
>MEGASALE
>DAUNTLESS LAUNCH WITH CROSSPLAY
>2M PLAYERS FOR WWZ
Your move, steamdrones.
nobody would buy it
exodus base game doesn't worth more than $20
Epic is making around ~$140m a month just from Fortnite. I don't see them losing to be honest.
>big
It's not the size, it's the fitness. Blockbuster was annihilated by Netflix but they could have bought them easily years before their demise.
Darwin was correct.
Literally no one is using epic for the sales cut, they're being bribed upfront to use the store.
It's not about the income, devs go to Epic because they offer instant money for exclusivity deals. They can't keep on doing it forever, and Valve knows it.
BL3 will sell really well (probably 1 million easily), but still significantly less than if it was on Steam. Randy Pitchford and Tim Sweeney will tout this as a massive victory.
Nah, fuck you and fuck devs. 30% is generous, I'd take 50% minimum. 12% is going to stop those faggots form shitting out DLC and it's not going to encourage the to release a finished/good product.
That kike Sweeney should lower it to 100/0 like on itch.io and be done with it. More income for devs = more likely to get games
Only indie devs can turn down shit. Big ass publishers will choose instant shekels since they'll get more shekels after exclusivity ends.
That's not how pc market work chang
Yeah just like discord won with a 90/10 cut, oh wait
The shilling will be big alright
What do you gain from this cope post
Valve has the same cut MS, Sony, Nintendo, Google, and Apple all use for their digital stores, and yet Valve is the only one that gets bitched out about it.
>Megasale so mega it causes publishers to pull their games because Sweeny didn't confine in them before pushing the button
Ah yes, a truly remarkable business move.
Blockbuster was annihilated because they couldn't compete with streaming services. Valve is plenty capable of competing with anything EGS tries to do, and that's not talking as a shill, that's just talking from a resource/capital point of view
Expect more bullshit from chingchong owned Epic, they will do anything to get ahead
>2M PLAYERS FOR WWZ
It's sad that fanboyism has gotten this bad.
>30% is kike shit
T. never experienced retail sales
epicgames.com
Your days are fucking number steam drones.
Look at those things
What happened to her?
It'll sell well on the egs don't worry, not only are borderlands fans far from the brightest bunch but the whole looter shooter crowd is still thirsty after flops like anthem, destiny or the division. It's guaranteed to be best seller once it hits steam too.
Drugs user. Don't do drugs. Even my sister's friend went through that shit.
>Epic pays you an upfront bribe for exclusivity
>sales crater after accounting for Sweeney "buying" a minimum X number of units stipulated in the contract
>comparing physical stores to digital
Its the chingchang narative You are can spot a shill easily if they brought this up
>100 gorillion fortnite install base
>zoomers keeps buying cosmetic shit instead of games
Tim is retarded nigga, he should sell lootbox hats when buying games.
your analogy doesn't work since aldi is a giant in it's own right (and in countries where walmart is absent especially) and its concept is working. EGS at this point seems just like some kinda moneyscheme were they throw their "weight" around in order to cause chaos
Do we actually have the sales number of Metro Exodus or are they still saying it sold "X number of times more than other game"?
>cope
My steam account alone is older than you, child. I have never installed this garbage, not even for the free games and never will because I just don't care about dogshit new releases.
2M across all platforms, PC makes up for a very small amount of it.
Isn't the point of buying games to support the developers of a product you enjoy so that they can make more of it?
Why should we then buy a product that's already been paid for by Epic? We can just pirate their product since the money's already been made, no?
Not true. There are games that aren't exclusive to epic and still are on EGS.
Yeah and that's the reason you live in a basement and don't have a successful life. Fuck off with your "well i would do it like this xD" shit.
>I have no argument so I ridicule yours xD
Have sex and stop chimping.
>Discord
Who cares about what others do? It's about Valve and PC sells less than consoles so they have to make up for it.
>thinking physical store means it's exempt from cut scrutiny
Aldi's major market is Europe since that is where their HQ is. Walmart is basically nonexistent here
See. PC doesn't sell so they devs need the 88% cut
I was pretty ambivalent about the EGS and was even considering getting Hades but holy shit did the sale expose how much they don't know what the fuck they are doing.
>Games are pulled from sale mid-sale, including Borderlands 3, which considering Randy's bitch-fit over EGS exclusivity is just hilarious
>Games have their prices changed mid-sale
>No shopping cart
>Shitty UI
>Can't pull a game just from the sale, it has to be removed from the store
Not exactly encouraging if I want to invest in EGS by having a games library there.
Imagine being this insecure you need to mass reply defending your ego
Add this gem too
pc sells, you just need to start making good games first which is very unlikely for western devs in this day and age
Developer who's team released their game on epic store as an exclusive.
If they met bare minimum sales and didn't lose money that's good. Of course they wouldn't want to talk about it I think the metro games releasing on steam and then at the last minute being taken down and moved to epic so quickly really screwed their reputation up. Almost as bad as the dudes who made that xcom clone and shat on their Kickstarter backers by giving them a godamn refund or an epic key even though you know they're the reason the game got made in the first place.
I wish Kickstarter had some legal shit preventing this.
Cherry picking hurts your arguement
>Projecting
ok lol
Ps4 sold 52 million units of GTA V. Meanwhile PC only sold like 5.
>Hades
that shit went from $7 on discount to $15 then $20 all during this mega sale
i thought this shit is illegal according to euros?
So you gain nothing from it kid, yet you still post nonsense going against op and the fact that people didn't buy them in droves
Is Epic actually the best advertisement for Steam right now?
Because with each passing week I somehow get more and more reasons why Steam should keep that 30% cut.
Didn't crowd funded games getting sweeped up by ebin are in fig rather than kike starter?
Not even close. EGS was a mistake to start with. Whenever you are the underdog you have to match what you are trying to beat at a minimum. As it stands EGS is missing many core features it should of had before the word "launch" even touched their lips. Then they have to do something BETTER preferably something the fans of the thing you are trying to beat have been complaining about. If they offered comprehensive refunds or the ability to resell games even if only back to EGS itself they would have been on a roll.
Instead they say shit like "Consumers don't mater only developers mater" which directly alienates the very people they need to survive. They can have every game in the world but if no one buys they still lose.
Didn't Hades have to increase the price of the game during the sale?
>warhammer poster which means most likely redditor
>defends Tencent and Epic
yep seems fitting
brand is damaged this game shouldve been their big hit it probably did just "good enough" which is horrible
Because it literally doesn't matter if people buy it or not since EGS pays upfront. Do you have brain problems you underage faggot?
>2015
>6 million units
>3 on PS4
>2016
>3 million
>1.2 million on PS4
>2017
>1 million units on PS4
In conclusion, PS4 sold better
metro exodus broke even because of its console versions.
egs is toxic as fuck for pc only games and kills their future worth
Why were game journalists so scared to discuss how Epic was caught making it's workers do 100 hour work weeks? They spent months going on about "evil game devs exploiting their workers" but when Epic was caught doing it they all had an agreement not to talk about it, even that faggot Jason Schrieir.
>projecting reply
Pathetic
This
Drugs. Google her now. She looks like a head on collision. Its a shame really. Atleast ill still beable to jack off to Mean Girls.
>Not getting all the free games
I don't need to pay anything and my library is getting bigger while not needing to add any payment info. At least that's one good thing that came out of all this.
>fanboyism
How is being wary of a company's practices "fanboyism"?
Pc doesn't sell so they need the 88% cut. It's pretty obvious
>Weeb pedophile
End your life, basement dweller
egs has nothing to do with 100 hour work weeks. also, lots of journalists covered that topic.
so?
At least her tits still look nice. Those nude photos of her body.
You just proved his point you fucking braindead steamnigger.
>They're too big
This isn't even why they're failing.
If the same monetary investment that has been poured into EGS, was put into say GOG with GOG, a platform that is actually respected. Then GOG might have actually been able to surpass or rise up to the level of Valve.
Meanwhile Epic with their every pisses off the consumers while acting like assholes about it. They've grown big but have only grown more hated at the same time. This is because there are fundamental problems with their business.
Size has little to do with it.
>lots of journalists covered that topic
Yeah, by talking about it as little as possible. Meanwhile other companies get months of articles slandering them for the same thing, Epic got a single day of vague articles.
ching chong ping pong motherfucker
It is exactly valve who brought upon the huge cut increase for publishers by creating the digital market
Now they're screaming murder because why exactly?
>Tries to prove that PC sold better
>It didn't
>S-So and what n-now?
Can someone give some god damned props to this user who posted legit information and a fucking source.
See you bitchmade fuckboy.
he didn't, you're just a moron
good
EGS only pays a part of their fee upfront. The majority of their exclusivity deal comes in payments given to you as it sells for larger titles.
E.G. They refund half of their 12% cut for the first 500k sales to pay the Metro devs another 1.8 million or so on top of the few million they already paid them. If it doesn't sell, they don't get that part of the deal - on top of it selling poorly.
>newfag gives himself away within the first 2 words
Nothing else expeteced from the braindead steamdrone.
And? That's not illegal. Other games do that too on steam.
Yeah you did. Pretneding not be "him" just gives you away as the retarded newfag that you are, compeltly unable to read let alone properly understand the graphic you posted.
The amount Epic pays for exclusivity is decided on a game-by-game basis, they'll hand over more for a big AAA release than they would a small indie title. It's not that Epic are handing over a stack of cash, it's a minimum sales guarantee. Sure, they might have gotten a decent chunk of money even if it bombs, if it sells like shit Epic aren't going to be paying the same amount when they come back in a couple years to negotiate for the sequel.
It's illegal in a shitton of places.
Yet you claim PC doesn't sell while the PC is in 2nd place while Xbox falls on its ass.
>2M wwz
250k on pc rest is on console.
Epic has made it clear that they don't care about good publicity or positive word of mouth. The only thing they care about is building up a stable of developers that guarantee them (timed) exclusivity so that people who want to play those games are forced to come to Epic regardless of how ridiculously bad the store still is.
Serves THQ right for their AMA :)
He said it sells, he didn't say it sold more
Literally nothing but fucking NPCs on Yea Forums now, can only think in binary.
>IT SOLD BETTER
>IT DIDN'T SELL BETTER
>PICK ONE
props
>but still bought it on that dogshit chink launcher
Then why are the sales shit?
Oh another brainlet who makes insane claims then moves goalposts to win the arguement
>Tries to prove that PC sold better
he didn't? your original point is pc doesn't sell, he proved you otherwise as witcher 3 sales where higher than xbox initially and surpassed ps4 in the second and third year
When the hell did Spueachh mahreens become redditor, did I miss something
also, more history x gifs pls
You guys always act like it's impossible for other people to think you're retarded
Says who? It sold hell of a lot better than previous titles, investors are braindead old businessmen that set retarded expectations.
>and was even considering getting Hades
Hades does look cool and I am pretty damn excited for it myself. But honestly, it's still in early access and instead of giving in to the disgusting epic game store, it would most likely be far, far preferable to wait until the full 1.0 release. And just get it on Steam or the Switch or wherever else when it actually leaves the epic game store as it leaves early access.
No need to buy it on the epic game store just so that you can play an unfinished and ultimately inferior product to the full release that will also be available elsewhere.
If money was all it took, Origin would've beaten Steam a long time ago.
>every scene has that bitch wife forced into it
>she talks for the protag while hes mute
fuck off
>Meanwhile other companies get months of articles slandering them for the same thing
Like what? NRS got more articles as more news develop, Riot stuff only happened twice and nothing else besides Bioware story. There was only one follow up to the Rockstar story last I remember and everyone (including the consumers) conveniently forgot about it. I don't think they barely talked about it, especially when they talked about how awful the working conditions were.
A lot of people are shitting on Epic and EGS these days way more than other companies, but that's probably because of Epic's aggresive campaign more than the crunch stories that everyone deemed it normal and the amount of fuck ups it continues to make.
>Says who?
Did you even read this thread or are you in denial?
>pretneding
>calls others retarded newfags
>claims different people are the same person
>WoW macro image
>compeltly unable to read let alone properly
ignoring your inability to type properly
did you understand his initial post? as following he said pc doesn't sell
proved him otherwise as pc does sell
there was no mention of "surpassing console" sales
holy shit, you're indeed an idiot
please re-evaluate your life choices
>Says who? It sold hell of a lot better than previous titles
Last Light Redux sold 1.5 million on Steam. According to Tim Sweeney, Exodus sold 2.5 times of Last Light classic, which sold between 25k and 50k.
Was the total destruction of the Phoenix Point brand, worth it for the Epic bux?
Lmao
Are you ACTUALLY fucking braindead? Do some research you armchair warriors.
>confirms being a tencent cocksucker
Like a clockwork
>When the hell did Spueachh mahreens become redditor
When /tg/ general threads started crosslinks with Reddit
I want to see how these devs do in a few years. They traded in their brand name for Epic support, but what will happen to these devs if Epic stops spending money forcing their store on people and giving free money to the devs?
I think what's more telling is how willingly they gave out World War Z's numbers but are quiet on everything else.
Prease give us Exodus sares data then, 朋友
They'll probably trick gullible morons with a new kickstater under a different company once the ForniteTencent fountain dires up.
I played like an hour of the first metro, don't care for the series. Again, do your own research you illiterate fucking monkey.
Seethe Epicuck
Will be interesting to see what investors think of other EGS exclusives.
>deleted it from his local machine
Probably saved it to a USB before doing that. If the guy gets hit with identity theft, does he have grounds to sue Epic?
all those assblasted epic fanboys. LMAO.
literally no one with more than 5 games in his steam library will give up steam and move to a new store/launcher
So what's going to happen in a years time when all the games become available on different platforms? Are you going to show the devs that you'll buy their games on a decent platform or leave them in the dirt for what they did?
>you're a retard! Look up the info or stats I won't tell you or elaborate on because I don't have it and just wanted to call you an insult!
He has grounds to contact GDPR and get them sued now if he wants
not a single dev made those decisions
>Again, do your own research you illiterate fucking monkey
We did do our research you retard. Last Light classic's sales are 25k to 50k, Metro Last Light Redux is 1.5 million, and Exodus has no official numbers because Epic is scared of letting people find out how badly it sold.
They gave us a vague "2.5 times of Last Light" which puts the sales at 62.5k to 125k, due to us not having the exact numbers for Last Light classic.
??
How about you play the game faggot.
You spend your time rescuing her, such a mary sue right?
Based Tim and bless his down syndrome.
Blacklisted forever.
They have to know they fuck PC gamers, we fuck them back.
Vote with your wallets. There are thousands of games to play and buy. Don't reward devs that are pushing console exclusive faggotry on PC.
EGS is more shit because of its own management. China has nothing to do with why they’re bad
But Epic was suppose to be the chosen one?
The gaming media told me that Steam was going to die (and how that was a good thing)
That narrative has been challenged and I don't know what to do
Metro Last Light - 25,000 to 50,000
Metro Last Light Redux - 1,492,907 exact number as of the Steam leak, probably higher now
Metro Exodus - 2.5x "Metro Last Light"
Just leave. You're an idiot who backed himself in a corner and you refuse to admit your mistake. Stop embarrassing yourself and just stop posting.
Leave.
Coffee stain, supergiant, Team meat, phoenix labs, and Snapshot games are all devs who took the deal without publisher involvement
I fucking love boycotting devs that try to bullshit people for more money, so that. Money can but games but can't buy smug personal satisfaction.
So hopefully biomutant won't be epic exclusive.
Maybe not on PC but it will sell tons in xo sole and by then it would already be considered a massive succeed regardless of epic exclusivity.
Damage to their reputation.
>Team meat
Team Meat was probably panicking because the original talent behind SMB is gone and the only thing they made was a shitty mobile game so their sold their "brand name" more than the game itself to Epic for some free money, SMB Forever looks terrible.
Even with Epic's guaranteed money I doubt Epic will be willing to shell out a second time for another game from a publisher if the first game sells like shit on their store
>guy tells you what has been researched
>just continuously say "do your own research" while making no attempt to prove these stats wrong
jesus chang
you're getting demoted back to the sweat factory if you don't get it together
Violated and rapepilled
Also No Code.
Devolver claimed that it was their decision and they even talked with Steam about it.
had to google all of those no names. never heard of a single one of them lmao. seems the epic exclusive way is working out
BL3 is in a good position, it will probably sell. With Destiny/ Anthem and the like being complete flops, a lot of people wanting BL3, and other shit. BL3 will probably be the one Epic Exclusive that won't bomb.
They sold better on steam but they still got Epic's insect money. They'll "recoup" whatever losses they think they had on Steam eventually.
I'm glad Epic is buying nothing but meh or shit games. Even BL3 selling well won't save them. Outer worlds looked good in the trailer, but that Pax demo from last month revealed how shit it actually is. youtu.be
Can't wait tbqh
Fuck them.
I'm pretty sure he murdered someone already and we just don't know.
Why did Supergiant sell out anyway? They seemed to be doing well, their games are all critically acclaimed and sold a bunch.
You would never hear their names, just the games they've made in the past.
Pyre was garbage and repetitive. Probably also seeing a fat wad of cash comboed with mediocrity in sales fueld it too.
last thread the Epic shills got so BTFO they deleted the thread
how fucking retarded are you? do you think that payment was enough? they obviously counted on sales to go along with it
Honestly the real clincher for me is that Obsidian lost most of their talent. I backed Pillars of Eternity 2 and the writing was so incredibly bad I had to force myself to finish it.
>make shitty console prototypes
>discard them later
>invest into VR
>do nothing with it
>release a terrible shitty children's card game
>do nothing overall
>still win
how did he do it?
Pyre itself has such cool concepts and really good writing, it's a pity they messed up so bad with the gameplay portion of it.
Why would we? Steam has never given me a reason to be displeased with them.
His enemies are more retarded and makes worse decisions than him
>*puts your game on a $10 sale without prior correspondence*
Probably just got offered a sweet monetary deal, and they got mouths to feed.
So how was the game, anyways? I was interested in the customization aspect and the different environments, but I heard a lot of bad shit about how it fell into a lot of open world traps (think far cry copypasted enemy outposts) and that the AI was beyond retarded. I just sorta forgot about it because of the EGS shit.
>do nothing
That's how he wins. Don't play Tim's game.
Because Steam still provides the best service? The only other storefront that has even remotely improved over it's original release is uPlay and even that is still pretty garbage, it has problems that Steam had 8 years ago.
>removes almost every major release from sale
N WORD
KEK
N WORD LMAO
>Other games do that too on steam.
What games did this?
based and obesepilled
Steam has a cult-like following and Epic made some missteps at critical junctures. It's that simple.
>That's not illegal
I actually think it is
>Other games do that too on steam
Examples?
Yeah, liking security and having all your games in one place is really cult-like behavior.
Also think about how hard it will be to sell a sequel to the game if no one has played the other one when there is no word of mouth or fans waiting for more.
translation: Epic's chink executives along with Tim Sweeney are fucking incompetent idiots
>Yeah and that's the reason you live in a basement and don't have a successful life.
Projection.
NIGGER
OH NO NO NO NO
No, PC doesn't sell. It's the weakest performing platform despite being "bigger than console gaming." PC gamers play one or two games for the entire time with the platform then move on. It's CSGO, Dota2, Fortnite, PUBG, and then they move on. Those retards who obsess over every new mediocre eurojank piece of trash? Those are the true PC gamers whos numbers are probably in the 15-25m range. It's that 16% or so that have a 1060ti. There's a few meanderers out there with slightly better or worse GPUs that consist of about 25% of the market in total. The truth is PC gaming is the smallest market and watching it fragment is just making it less appealing to devs. It's already sub-xbone in terms of active users for predictive sales expectations.
He's taking events out of context. But Early access games sometimes will up their price after the game is more developed, but they always announce it way prior and will even tell you they plan to up the price in the EA faq. What Hades did was jump the price point up as soon as the sale went live to avoid losing profits and I don't even think they warned anyone until the day of or before.
mediocre really
the game split between 4 seasons mainly
spring volga which is fairly average
summer caspain is godawful level design
autumn is very linear and you will mostly either stealth your way through it or clear camps
and finally dead city winter which actually feels like you're playing metro
Just goes to show that they should focus on making good gameplay first and foremost instead of whatever happened with that game.
Oh baby has no leg to stand on, is getting angry
So first your point is they did buy anyway even though they didn't, and that's a win for egs that you hate but you're not one of those manchildren that hate it?
Or a win for the devs who get small market penetration and potential for future profits?
And now your point is they didn't buy it but that it doesn't matter, epic didn't get those paying customer new registers and forked out the money and that's a win for egs?
Or a win for "devs", in which case refer yourself to the OP
Don't flex yourself too much.
You must be a Zoomer because you lack comprehension skills.
Source for anything here?
Like a true alpha-fatty
>>>/reddit/
>yeah we made some mistakes here and there, but steam is like a cult!
you fags aren't very subtle
Security falls more into the "critical missteps" I mentioned. Let's be honest, the fervor with which people are coming into this "battle" between desktop icons is ludicrous. If the Epic Store weren't a half-functioning program with shady ownership, how many people would have an issue with it beyond brand loyalty?
God bless you user.
unless they start outright paying people to use their shop (rather than just the publishers), I don't see them pulling past Steam
Go back to your subreddit
ching chong massacre
when everyone is fucking retarded, simply doing nothing still makes you the better alternative.
???
They have a very pretentious aura with game design I've noticed. Trying to push inner monologues with terrible voice acting and focusing too much on aesthetics and design over the game itself gives me that vibe.
Epic is the cult like following dumbass
>literally get raped by the sale because Epic is taking money out of your profits with no warning
I almost feel bad.
>the fervor with which people are coming into this "battle" between desktop icons is ludicrous. If the Epic Store weren't a half-functioning program with shady ownership, how many people would have an issue with it beyond brand loyalty?
Nigger if you expect me to split my library in two you better give me a service 110% what Steam provides. It took Valve 9 years to get to me to install Steam, so I don't budge easily.
2hu
a single uninteresting white-russian pc-fuckgame like World of Tanks has more total turnover than the entire console market combined in a year
Yeah, their first 2 games weren't so bad but I guess for Pyre nobody stopped to ask if anyone actually likes playing the game they were making.
Epic still ate the difference. Same with the other larger publishers who pulled out
My ass
apologize to /jp/ for posting this, chang
This is an enticing thing for a non series based, non heavily invested public product with companies and suits behind it. If you're an indie dev, like some of the recent devolver jumps then getting a lifetime worth of cash is hugely beneficial because you can just fucking retire off of it. For the former even if you turn a profit that's not what an investor or brand owner wants to see, all that covers you is from default, you want to see potential growth and sustainability for long term investment into the series since Epic's checks won't always necessarily be there and if you tell an investor yeah this is a dead product but your money is guaranteed by the Chinese trust us it's a bit spooky because what if your deal falls through, and what if you were hoping for not just a "profit" but a large profit that expanded storefronts might've given a large marketed game.
To make a weird comparison, look at how each Marvel movie boosted the next one leading up to the crescendo of money pool that is Endgame, if you were an investor on those products you're loving yourself even with Hollywood accounting. Now imagine if those movies sold mediocre, hell didn't even make their money back but you were always guaranteed to not lose your investment money since they always were subsidized to at least a small amount over their entire budget so you gained a small earnings each time. It's nowhere near exciting or worth it.
>egs has nothing to do with 100 hour work weeks
Except Epic Games Store is the champion of dev privilege and entitlement against the toxic customer privilege and entitlement
While Epic Games is slaving their understaffed dev teams despite having the biggest profits in the industry
They couldn't lose profits due to the sale because Epic was paying the ten dollar difference. What they didn't like was their game being listed for less than half of what its default price had been since launch, and though I can't speak as to why, there are several potential reasons. I know that I, personally felt a little miffed because I bought it for the full $20, and getting it for 7 fucking dollars would have been great.
Only game I cared about was Phoenix Point and the devs were the ones asking for exclusivity in exchange for money. Fuck those cunts I hope they flop. I might buy Outer Wilds and Hades on sale in like 3 years
Kill yourself back to red dit already, faggot.
>what do?
>I'll pretend his point was different
Kek, I just went to check the EGS to see the "mega sale."
>Only games still on sale are Ashen, WWZ, Metro, TWD, Outward, and some of the games that they've already given away for free
>Sale prices are $5-$7 off for almost everything instead of the $10 it supposedly was supposed to be
>The "$10 off every game over $14.99 at checkout" only applies to ONE purchase
Jesus christ.
GTA V has sold almost 20 million units on Steam alone.
That doesn't count RSC or physical sales either.
IT WAS A FAIR DEAL
>can't even reply without judging a pic
>and though I can't speak as to why, there are several potential reasons
It's called devaluing the game, Steam literally has a write-up on how you should approach sales so as to maintain the market value of your game, if you devalue it too hard people will refuse to buy any game you make unless it's the same minuscule price you devalued your games at.
A bunch of devs have done this on Steam too and suffered hard for it. Sega fucked up with Valkyria Chronicles and Falcom with Kiseki, people are boycotting the games because the first game was sold at like $10 since it was an old game, but when the latest games that were made recently came at $40 people started screaming and then boycotted them.
Tim should have hired Souljaboy l. Nigger has a better store than epic. Fucking Souljaboy
this is not what happened here
This make me think EGS is a good thing as its serve as a way to get rid of the weak our of the market. These arrogant asshole wont survived long.
sounds to me like they should make games that people will want to play for more than a week.
Julian Gollop, the creator of the original X-COM and Pheonix Point, is dead to me. I won't trust him ever.
This viewpoint is so idiot monkey brain that it hurts to read. It's like saying "nigga I can't buy more games my shelf is full and I ain't buying or filling up another shelf". That's the level of stupid you are on, that's how ridiculous you sound, only WORSE, because upon closer inspection, you are complaining about having game libraries literally at your fucking fingertips, all you have to do is click shit and you have access to everything at once.
it's illegal in civilized countries
Do I need a credit card and password to access my 2nd bookshelf, Chang Xi Huang?
dsogaming.com
PC is actually consistently the 2nd most or most popular platform for many games.
Unfortunately, having your games only available on the Tencent store fucks with potential sales on PC.
GoG already has insane curation and rejects games for Yea Forums tier reasons. If anything they're the example of weeding the weak out.
Time to THQ Nordic to reign in Deep Silver
sure, but to be fair, I'm sure both epic AND publisher of a given title need to agree to reveal the data
I like my desktop clean chang. A useless program wont belong on my pc
If you're talking about Machete Kills Again they used a body double.
Kock media controls deep silver as I recall, that's why they went with the deal.
I don't think he considered what will happen with his next game
I mean whoever belong or side with epic will be weed out and that's a good thing
steam and reality
>triggered because he sees everything anime as sexual
Every time.
lets abandon this thread epic bros, we'll get em in the next one
he already can sue them
Koch Media is also owned by THQ Nordic.
Nordic own Koch media.
>Metro suffers because the publishers suck
>The only atmospheric game series that exists
>It's already niche
I'm fucking mad. We're not going to get a sequel because of this shit
I'm not really interested in any of those games beside Phoenix Point, but fuck them for this bullshit
You're idea of reality is warped then
Every week, nay, almost every single day, something funny happens with Epic. The gift that keeps on giving.
Thanks for that user, I'll have to blacklist those devs.
Woah a whole 2 dollar increase in cost!
Woops there's the chink card oh no I called out how goddamn retarded you are time to be racist at me until I buckle or whatever. Go back to your subreddit you underfed chimps.
>nobody buys your game
>nobody becomes or stays a fan of your series
>lose future sales on next game, free marketing and will always be remembered as unremarkable flop caused by retarded publisher
They've got their money now, but they also lost a lot, especially their reputation and renown.
that's an interesting question because we don't know how much of that upfront payment goes to investors, maybe their share is based on sales or sthg.
Plus invstors are generally people who like to look at long term things so they're interested in sales more than upfront payment
Rockstar do this shit all the time too.
wrong again, good sir
pc doesn't sell is 10 years old 7th gen statement
pc sales this gen has been selling better than ever
surpassing xbox in most cases, and playing catch up with ps4 in others
randy is so badass
The best part is that the guy who created Steam Spy is also in charge of the Epic Games Store.
This shit just keeps getting better.
And they get thousands of negative reviews each time.
just want to ask you quickly, do you think epic is entitled to my money? that i "should" give them my money in exchange for the service they're providing, where they try to create a monopoly and sell games for inflated prices instead of letting them be on sale in one of a dozen other stores?
i really just want to understand where you're going with this whole thing. do you WANT me to use the epic games store? or are you just a massive Yea Forums contrarian who only argues against steam because it's popular?
Fuck off, Randy.
That's the dev fault
No, the best part is that he still collects $14,000 every month for premium features to his now flawed data collection.
Sorry, are we reading the same tweet? They increased the final sales price and called it a sale of up to 50%. Normally you're supposed to pay LESS money for a game on sale, not MORE.
Interestingly enough I saw a video about this earlier today.
Wal-mart did try to get foot on the ground in Germany but got btfo'd by cultural differences and employees rejecting their bullshit.
>why is this allowed
>exact thing happens on his own store later
I'm pointing out that 50% off 29.99 is 14.99$ and increasing to 35$ halves it to 17.49$. You're paying 2$ more over what the previous price cut was.
My reality is reflected in sales numbers which are generally very low and the only reasonable explanation for it is my previous one. PC gamers don't buy games because PC gamers who actually engage with the platform outside of 1 or 2 games are the smallest audience in gaming and aren't really worth anyone's time. There's a reason it's only popular on a reddit forum full of easily shilled to drones and here, the cesspool of the internet. It attracts all kinds of outcasts like trannies, communists and furries.
>no actual scene in the source
It's shit.
Never interrupt your enemy when they're making a mistake.
It is, and I'm not blaming Valve or Steam for it. user just asked what games on Steam and wanted to point out that it has happened in the past and not just post-EA mark-up stuff either. Whether Valve incorporated any sort of policy to prevent this from happening I don't know, but at the very least I'm sure Devs no longer attempt it cause it's a horrible idea and they will get called out on it by someone.
>The best part is that the guy who created Steam Spy is also in charge of the Epic Games Store.
He's not in charge of it, Epic just hired him. I'm not sure what his job is, but since he has said that he has no plans to create similar system for EGS they are probably just paying him not to expose their sales numbers.
>get every big streamer to play it
>normalfags drop the game when said streamers stop playing
>ebin games will claim the peak numbers as sales
Didn't they do this shit with WWZ?
Other devs doing it doesn't make it ok
Epic were also one of the biggest offenders when it came to this, thier entire catalog would go up in price as the sale hit
When you don't have any value left, there's no point in profit
See, I read it as "it is $35 and they're calling it 50% off (of $70)"
but even if I'm wrong there's a game on there that was $9.99 before the sale and $12.99 - 10% = $11.69 during the sale, so regardless of interpretation there's at least one game where the final sale price actually went up, completely ignoring how scummy it is to increase the original price of your game during a sale to make the savings look bigger.
Nah there's nudes of her. Tanned titties. Shame her nipples are pink
I mean, unlike something like Apex which needs people to keep playing it and buying skins, Borderlands 3 is a single-purchase game.
If 10 million people buy it but drop it after 5 minutes of playing, that's still fucking 10 million copies sold and counts as success.
this guy turned out to be the most pathetic chink agent.
All these epic shills getting destroyed in here, it's almost like a massacre, kinda like the Tienanmen Square Massacre really. How odd.
By now i am expecting BL3 to sell well initially until it gets busted as an unplayable mess. I don't trust Gearbox anymore to have even the most basic level of competence.
I dunno, it'll probably be some shit like the game not running on NVidia or always online + broken servers. It's gonna be a mess
Show me a quote where valve is screaming about the cut.
They'll just keep filling the store with heads and skins
jesus fucking christ lmao
>redditor
Reddit posters are worse than Do Americans even posters.
You don't have the numbers though, so you're full of shit. And you're ignoring where people are posting info that directly contradicts your statements.
((((((((((((((GELDREICH))))))))))))))) holy shit, this literally means MONEYRICH.
Curse you /pol/!
Until zoomers move onto the next meme game and Epic is stuck putting all their effort into keeping it afloat, since it's clear their entire business strategy at the moment depends on Fortnite's success.
>ignoring how scummy it is to increase the original price of your game during a sale to make the savings look bigger.
This is illegal in Europe but they keep getting away with it
Can he not sue epic over this?
Let's just exploit childrens addictions with a new game to push them away from fortnite
In your head
It is but they still do it, and get away with it. Quite annoying
Wrongo.
PC is the 2nd largest platform outside of PS4.
Sorry you can't accept this user, but it does make it painfully obvious that all the EGS shilling is coming from trolling consoleniggers.
>ability to resell games even if only back to EGS itself
There's a new digital store opening that can do exactly this. Forget what it's called, Robot something. They have their own cryptocurrency too but who the hell is gonna use that.
>that dead cells difference on ps4
>the big guys like VTMB2 and BL3 get pissed because you put up their game for preordering on a discount
>the smaller guys had to change the price, like Hades, while other games sell like shit
How long until devs realize that Epic have no clue what the fuck they're doing beyond throwing their wads of Fortnite money around and let it to sink?
Well fucking done. Source and succinct summary.
dead cells is shit and a dead game, not relevant
Literally now.
Did you even read what the other user wrote, chink shill?
Blockbuster had the opportunity to BUY Netflix when it was still kind of a start up and didn't. That's why they couldn't compete
Lern2raed
>nioh
didn't that piece of shit came out like after 2 years and at 50-60 full bucks? fucking koei tecmo
impressed for RE7, i'd like to know how 2 remake did on PC
You know devs can sell their games on their on websites?
Steam offers the largest reach to the consumer that's why anyone who sells on steam will make far more money than they would anywhere else regardless of fees.
We can't let Valve get the winning monopoly!
>If i don't like it I don't acknowledge
great start
EGS is doing thing wrong.
Instead of grabbing games for exclusivity they should be offering features that steam doesn't have.
For instance if samsho had cross play whit all the platforms like Dountles does only on Epic store.
Id get it on Epic over steam. Because in fighting games cross-play is incredibly important.
If the game was just epic exclusive and had no cross play id avoid buying the game.
Unfortunately none of the numbers from after July 2018 on Steam will be at all accurate.
Holy cope.
>Claims to be the best for devs
>Launch a sale so quickly publishers pull the game to avoid looses
>Boasts the devs choose who wins the war
>Some devs have nothing but pure negative will towards the deals
>Says they will stop doing exclusives if steam does their share
>When they themselves said it's unreliable for a store
>Try to spin sales numbers of Metro as a hit
>Treats 250k sales as the best, on a platform used by "millions"
>Accused of being stupid with private details of customers
>Send the wrong guy all the sensitive info when requested
What even is the endgame here? You can't just burn money, goodwill and reputation forever.
It's baffling how much they keep fucking up.
It did well on steam pre-orders, but yeah Epic was a bust outside of the lump sum they paid.
If anything it will be worse for them, destiny and similar games exist now and didn't when the first two games released.
They're to retarded to do any of that, so they try to brute force control which has blown up in their face.
1st rule is, don't do anything retarded
2nd rule is, don't say anything retarded
Borderlands will be a working game with decent gameplay and without meme cash shop shit. Destiny and the like are absolute jokes, Destiny 2 literally had to be given away for free and Anthem had the starting level 1 gun be the strongest weapon in the game.
Shut the fuck up Randy.
>without meme cash shop shit
Apart from a billion cosmetics.
Only because people bought it on a hurry to avoid using the EGS.
Whats hilarious is that the Expansion pass is purchasable but the actual game isnt.
He's the lead director of Epic marketing in Eastern Europe. Sergey Galyonkin is his name.
You forgot the obvious 4 campaign DLCs, making you pay extra for the actual fucking level cap, and some more DLCs consisting of one map and one mission, each costing 5 bucks.
Citizen, the beliefs module you are currently running is several updates behind.
You must immediately report to one of the narrative approved media websites and obtain the required patch updates.
Your failure to rectify this issue may result in further independent thoughts, and may leave you unable to receive new updates if you wait too long.
The chinese aren't particularly known for making -any- kind of investments desu. Even these traitors could figure that much out

>What Hades did was jump the price point up as soon as the sale went live to avoid losing profits and I don't even think they warned anyone until the day of or before.
Which is illegal in most civilised countries
Im probably remembering wrong but didnt he make a hissy fit when Steamspy got fucked due to changes in the API sharing? That they couldnt get the game sales?
>Eastern Europe
I thought he was lead director of the store period
>without cash shop shit
Didn't Randy himself confirmed that his "no cash shop" comment actually meant "no loot boxes", because he is planning to set up a cosmetic cash shop (or sell it as DLC, not sure how EGS works with cash shop content)?
I'm just saying there is significantly more competition regardless. Destiny 2 was pretty popular among many casuals.
>without meme cash shop shit
Why lie?
Yup. Steam numbers are hugely valuable (any numbers like that are valuable), and I think he was pissed that Steam made them private because he could no longer cash in on that data.
Games media called Valve greedy, but given that we've never seen Microshit or Sony (and now EGS) share that data, it felt really fucking lame for them to try and call Valve out for it, after never bitching about their chosen companies.
The constant anti Valve shilling in games media tells me that Steam is the best platform to support. Enemy of my enemy, and all that.
that's too much effort explaining things to morons and/or shitposter
I've been thinking about this. do you think they really pay the indie devs that much? I'd be curious to know how much they're willing to pay a rando indie dev for exclusivity and how they decide on the amount. Could be a way to get started as a small studio
>make shitty game
>get paid just for making it
Quite honestly this is exactly why i'm going to start making games
Fuck gamers.
>EGS is more shit because of its own management. China has nothing to do with why they’re bad
If only you knew.... that they're run by a chinese company
Julian Gollop will not be able to make anymore games via crowdfunding after this
Those numbers going hidden was probably unintentional side-effect when they updated the back end. It's not simply publishers and journalists who have praised SteamSpy, but several Valve employees have also said that the site is useful for them too.
Ownership numbers can still be gathered, it's simply not as easy anymore.
>The constant anti Valve shilling in games media tells me that Steam is the best platform to support.
Even before Epic came about, the media always had a hateboner for Steam. Which is odd considering a lot of indies the past few years have garnered an audience thanks to it.
Don't really care whether BL3 flops or not, but god damn would a Randy Pitchford murder trial be something to see. He's like a bottomless mystery box of poor judgement. Too bad his lawyers would probably stop him from using twitter.
Yeah no. Having two release dates - on one Epic and one a year later on Steam - is only going to increase sales and media coverage. Plus Epic and Steam reach different audiences.
This is an accurate analysis.
Another example is the US auto manufacturers during the lead up to the 2008 crash and the bailout of GM and Chrysler.
The auto investors didn't care that the company's were deep in the red, they only cared about numbers of vehicles sold and marketshare. All three were hemmoraging cash in order to remain #1 in sales.
Once the crash happened and the data came out, it was shown how bad it had been for these companies as they tried to appease investors and hold on to those bullet points they felt were so important for stock values.
It's why a company like Walmart will enter an area with 3 or 4 stores, all selling at a loss, literally losing millions of dollars, until all the competition is out of business. Then they'll close all the stores except one (or close all and rebuild in another new location) and raise their prices back to profitability levels.
This is what EGS is trying to do. They're offering deep discounts to developers to try and poach them from Valve. And when that didn't work out so great, they began blowing cash to obtain exclusives.
Point is, you're absolutely right, it's not about seeing the company get a return on each and every new product/store/whatever. It's about long term marketshare, and the potential to dominate an area of the business in such a way that further expansion can continue from previous gains.
Operating at a loss now to gain later is all part of the corporate investor strategy. When they're not seeing growth, or worse, retraction, they panic.
The devs behind the xcom clone got $2.1M iirc, one of them assured that they could refund every single backer and still make a profit so it's at least more than what they got through kickstarter.
Randy will probably represent himself and blow his own case by insulting the dead person.
People didn't hate Netflix.
The literal fuck
It doesn't really matter, it sold a large amount of copies on Steam on pre-order before being removed
After borderland 3 flops egs will never get a exclusive deal again screenshot this post
It's true.
Even faggots like Jim Sterling were bitching about "curation" years ago.
There's something that isn't immediately apparent and the whole "curation" meme has something to do with it.
I assume it's because they want valve to curate "offensive" games, but I can't imagine that's their only reason for bitching about it this much for so long.
Who knows, maybe it really is as simple as them wanting to pressure valve to police shit on steam, push their indie friends shitty tranny games while acting as a mercenaries for AAA developers and console manufacturers.
>Randy will probably represent himself
Holy fuck I didn't even consider that angle. That's not even a stretch for him
EGS does a lot of advertising, on youtube channels and game websites.
It's lowley payoffs.
Which is weird because Epic's curation is even more retarded so I don't know why they want to support that.
And that's why they call it a zoo.
Unless it's a farm!
And Valve doing nothing yet still winning is pretty much all the evidence you need that they're a monopoly. Even with how much aggressive moneyhatting Epic is doing, the fact that Steam isn't even flinching show just how entrenched their predatory store is.
I guess you'd need a somewhat popular Kickstarter campaign or something of the like to use as proof of public interest during a contract negotiation, but that seems like a pretty insane payoff if you can manage that much
The thing about curation is that you have to prpve yourself to begin with.
No, Valve will not go and do all your shit for you. Market yourself, get some reviewers to shill your games, and make it noticable.
Valve has way too many games to completely sort for quality, and taste is subjective.
>He's not in charge of it, Epic just hired him.
He was already working for epic when he made Steamspy.
He was literally acting a spy.
>Epic continue to fuck up time and time again
>"s-see? its proof that steam is a monopoly!"
GoG, Uplay, Origin, Battle.net and even the fucking Bethesda store exist, and Epic does itself no favors by having it's store be a pile of manure.
This is Randy Pitchford we're talking about. He thinks the PR team of his company is "Me with a dash of BADASS and sticking it to losers"
It's gonna sell a ton on x1 and PS4 tho. They'll just pretend pc is a part of that to save face
That's not what a monopoly is. Epic had a genuine shot but their product is inferior
>People were whining like little bitches but still bought it on that dogshit chink launcher
That's a big implication there bud.
>predatory
How
Who is she, why am I having a boner and where can I get moar?
>Epic fuck up once again
>Chink shills come out of the woodwork to defend the musing the same tired buzzword shit
Honestly, the only thing i actually would've liked to see from steam is the dynamic share depending on the features your game uses. Lije 15-20% base which includes reviews/forums and so on which every game has. For additional 5% you'll get network features like access to friends' invite api. For adfitional 5% vac support. It's kinda unfair that something like rocket league and some indie single player game has to pay same share despite rocket league using much more of the steam's infrastructure.
>30%
>very small
it's not 40% but gee golly nigger cut back on the hyperbole
>steam is a monopoly because the customers like their services
30% cut
No curation leaving potentially good games out in the wild wild west of steam's new releases
Wishlists and sales are predatory, further binding consumers to the platform
DRM and Steam libraries dig the rabbit hole even deeper
Friend groups, forums, achievements, and all the social aspects force an emotional attachment to what just needs to be a store
what's her name again Yea Forums?
>Wishlists and sales are predatory, further binding consumers to the platform
What
none of those features cost valve any money to run.
The only real cost in game distribution is the servers and the payment processing and 30% is way too much for that.
B-b-but 2.5x more than previously!
>adding features people want is predatory
Is this a joke?
WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Imagine giving this company your info
I'm baffled no one called him out of this even after all these months. He is employed by a Steam competitor yet his site gathered all kind of info from games released on Steam, and profited on the gathered data without disclosing his Epic paycheck. It's conflict of interest no matter how you spin it
>none of those features cost valve any money to run.
You are astoundingly stupid
Or maybe... it's that Steam is just a genuinely better platform?
No, it couldn't be that.
What the fuck am I reading you god damn shill?
Intel processors cost fuck all to make, why do we have to pay hundreds of dollars for them?
Oh yeah, research and development costs
This is a WH board, you piece of trash
>A chat program and a forum cost R&D
I'm not joking.
It's why EGS is the least predatory storefront out there right now. Because they're the only ones that don't psychologically manipulate their consumers with a variety of traps like steam does. They're just a store first and foremost pure in its presentation.
>Wishlists and sales are predatory
So I guess to you sell thing for a lower price than the other store is predatory
>They're just a store first and foremost
>without a shopping cart
>Predatory is giving customers power to buy what they want and inform/communicate with other potential/current customers about the product(s) available.
Ching chong
You're wrong
>timed exclusives aren't predatory to consumers
You never took an economics class.
He never said he was working in FAVOR of steam and he was never confrontational towards them except when they privated everybody's data.
I'm actually losing fucking brain cells right now.
lmao what the fuck did i read
I don't think you know what "predatory" means.
Just like they always do, rember when people complained about muh borderline porn weeb games and they basically remained silent and said they don't care
>a chat program and a forum just made themselves
>Be nigger with no impulse control
>See that some random game you've never heard of is on sale
>But it like the dumb nigger you are
>Turns out you didn't actually want the game and you just wasted your money
>Proceed to go bitch about it on Yea Forums while all of the adults laugh at you for impulse buying something you didn't actually want like the dumb nigger underage you are
This is clearly falseflagging to make """epicshills""" retarded.
You're better than this steam drones. Come on. How about trying to defend this instead.
steamcommunity.com
An obvious move from Valve trying to win back Ubisoft's goodwill again. They know they're losing so even if it went against their review bombing principle they'll still suck that ubi dick to bring them back. Gabe is literally fucking shaking right now.
Well, when you take in account EGS's review sys...
Oh wait, they don't have one so there's not discussion to make yet.
When EGS finally delivers a complete client, we can discuss.
Chang finds it hard to believe
Few hours late, but the program itself and the shady ownership are just part of the problems, it's the anti-consumer exclusivity bullshit that makes me turn to actively hating the platform. I'm fine with installing launchers, I have Origin, Uplay, and Bnet. While the companies behind these platforms have been historically shit, at least they haven't been paying third parties to yoink games off other platforms so sales could be restricted to their own stores.
What's there to defend? As they say in the announcement, the majority of new reviews had nothing to do with the Notre Dame charity thing
>snoyboy jumps out to defend his cock cage out of nowhere
wew
Is this user a shill or just fishing for (you)
But Warhammer 40K: Space Marine is a THQ game.
>ubisoft
the company with its own launcher that just sold shitloads for a 100% cut by offering epic as the alternative that still uses uplay?
>monopoly
I can understand where you're coming from; Valve created a platform with features that people have invested in and people see any competition as a conflict to their investment. It created the "No Steam No Buy", "Fuck X" and one platform mentality. It makes competition a lot harder for new-comers to get their foot in the door. Consumers also see a lot of these features as beneficial though, so there isn't really any negative when it comes to consumers, just more hurdles for competitors.
Meh, it's in Valve's interest to push all those features, because they become standard features steam users know and expect to have while using the platform.
Plus, none of these features raised Valve's cut. Before and after these features were added, the cut has always been 30%.
Also, without those features of convenience, why wouldn't I just pirate the game?
Call me jaded, but I really REALLY don't see 30% as a big problem when digital distribution has drastically reduced distribution costs for videogames.
Before digital distribution, they had manufacturing costs for discs and cases, they had shipping costs to get the physical products to the stores, and they had brick and mortar stores taking a much bigger cut of the sales back then as well.
When digital distribution came about and these companies were able to save massively on all these things, did they reduce costs? No, they kept the prices the same and whined about how poor they were and how they relied on DLC and micro transactions to turn a profit.
Just look at books if you want a perfect example of how ridiculous companies are. Paper books are vastly far more expensive and far more convenient for the customer. But did they reduce prices for e-books? Nope. Some ebooks are more expensive than the paperback books.
I'm fine with them making more money with digital distribution, that's not my problem, but holy shit, whining about 30% is just childish.
And it's even more gay when indie devs whine about it. Because without digital distribution and platforms like steam the manufacturing, shipping and storefront costs were historically cost prohibitive to smaller developers to even try selling games, let alone seeing any actual return.
It was so bad in the early days that many developers simply gave away their shit via shareware in the hope that people might actually buy the title, or buy the sequel.
>mfw the madman actually responds to posts on Epic hate subreddit
I'm pretty sure he browses on Yea Forums too
>capcom-pc-is-the-second-largest-platform-for-monster-hunter-world/
Huh.
Now imagine how it'd look like if we'd actually get the PC release at release, and not 6-12+ months later.
And now they're doing it again with Iceborne.
If PC actually does well for them. Why do they treat the platform so terribly?
Also fuck Denuvo.
>And now they're doing it again with Iceborne.
they're doing it still, it's a dlc so whatever timed exclusivity deal they had with consoles still applies
>chinese revolution poster
>black dudes, mexicans and caucasians in the background
what the fuck is even going on in that image
>Doing it again with Iceborne
Fuck
This. Thank you for explaining it better. Steam has basically entrenched itself into the hearts of gamers by doing three things:
Flash sales to create an illusion of attachment to your library because it's bloated by games you bought on impulse
A friends list, an achievement list, and a wishlist mechanic to further force the idea that you need steam
And finally a steam forums which stockpiles troubleshooting and bug reports for thousands of games to the point that if you google a bug fix one of the first results is a post in the steam forums
Steam is manipulative and Valve has had an entire decade to figure this out.
yellow paint too american
fuck you chang
Same propaganda shit that's going on in the west.
My biggest issue with Valve lately has and will be their steps to curtail user influence in their review system.
I use a mix of YouTube videos and Steam user reviews to make my purchases. And when a Steam review score is mixed or bad, I'll read the negatives and see what they're bitching about (I have made my decision to not purchase a game based on this info many times BTW).
So, Valve cucking on their review system has been a disappointment to say the least. And it's obvious that (((game journalism))) has been hammering hard on the "review bomb" thing because they know their shitty shill articles for AAA studios aren't getting as many clicks when people can go right to the community for info about the game.
So you're right, this is an area where EGS is better than Valve, their review system is much better than Steam's.....
Oh wait...
That's right, EGS doesn't even allow user reviews. Do they faggot?
>having a community forum where big fixes are posted is manipulative
This is bait
The 88/12 cut isn't sustainable, Epic never hid the fact that Fortnite is basically subsidising the store, if Fortnite got killed you would see Epic changing it's cut very quickly
Okay? And why is this a bad thing though? Because Valve is essentially a benevolent dictator?
No, he's sincere. This is just your mind on huffing chink lead paint.
Samefagging this hard.
source?
perfect optics
NOOOOOO IT WASNT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS EPICBROS
You are a special kind of retard. Do you prefer
A. A single entity that pays you for 1 million units
B. 1 million people that buys one copy each
Protip: the first one doesnt create demand, a fanbase, word of mouth, or expectations for a sequel
So why do you support the bottom of the fucking barrel, most anti-consumer platform, Epic then? Instead of the other competitors like GOG etc?
>n-no it has to b-be epic!
>o-only epic can slay the monstrous steam!
Fuck off. Epic is garbage. Utter garbage. Even if Valve are shit too it doesn't change how Epic are fucking garbage. The most garbage.
Okay. I actually thought you were just baiting for (You)s but now this is just pathetic. Are these the kind of people that epic want?
Reputation and they dont pay for fhe ENTIRE GAME upfront, otherwise they would just buy the full game right.
wtf i love being manipulated now
Because the EGS is a pure platform.
No extra baggage just a list of games.
>exclusivity deal
Please don't spread misinformation
OH NO NO NO NO
DELET THIS
Didnt thq bankrupt a while ago?
aloy armor
>sales are predatory
Holy kek
I refuse to believe that there are people in the world that actually believe this hot fucking trash. Tell me it's a troll Yea Forums. Tell me we all got baited hard by a le epic troll.
The thief reboot sold that well?
>Investors dont know shit about what they are throwing their money at
colour me shocked
Then why - according to their roadmap - are they going to add achievements, cloud saves, wishlists, etc.? That is definitely not something a "pure platform" with just a "list of games" does.
Try again, shill.
Its easy (you)s, and tards bite the bait
Satisfactory devs keep joking about their game selling single digit copies but I'm not convinced they sold more than 1000 copies.
Except I'm not the faggot trying to explain how Valve is some evil monopoly manipulating everyone. I'm just stating that they've had years to do good things and provide beneficial features to consumers that it created an investment where many consumers will become hostile to potential competitors to protect it and that any competition has to essentially do what Steam is doing PLUS find a way to win over consumers who are invested in Steam and developers who are concerned by a small consumer base.
As far as I'm concerned, Epic can tongue my shitter when they started buying exclusives and barely doing anything to make their store consumer friendly.
So is GoG
Why would THQ private investor know anything about Satisfactory sales?
All but one or two shit games
Nah
Because it isnt about hating steam, its actually about shilling for Epic.
Pretty much everyone in the world is at least happy GOG exists, even if they dont use it.
It has a stable niche and is great for the user
EGS bullshit aside metro exodus is actually really good and much better than the rest of the series.
saved
as someone who played exodus (pirated) i can say that the game is dog shit
>floating grass
>seams between textures painfully visible
>some objects don't even have any collision allowing you to pass through certain objects as if they weren't even there
>forced to use a shitty pellet rifle throughout the game and is only given the superior crossbow to use in the last two areas where you're motivated not to use it
>can craft ammo and health in the wild making it impossible to die
>none of the choices you make matter doesn't matter if you're doing a moralfag run or evil run you will always get the same ending
>final area is a budget library with budget librarians
>gave artyom (main character) aids before killing him off to set up his wife Anna as the mc for the next installment
yet they still cant implement a simple shopping cart
user, please. What is the name of this semen demon?
BASED
it's free (you) and the bants are nice
Yea Forums in the nutshell
forgot to add that you gain absolutely nothing from doing sidequests and the ai is shit as well because at one point i was assaulted by a gang of ghouls and when i decided to run away they started attacking a clique of religions technophobes but instead of them attacking the ghouls they started attacking me calling me a murderer
>>gave artyom (main character) aids before killing him off
Hol' up, they killed off Artyom?
valve is making a lot more doing nothing
Epic probably accidentally emailed them satisfactorys information too. I'm hoping they deleted it from their local machine
samefag
>hey, check those facts i pulled out of my ass!
Man... Risk of Rain 2 sold more than 1 million... are you telling me that a game like WWZ, that even had a movie, is selling only 250k? that's like only 100k over Forager, that sold 150k.
I want to disagree but you're actually not wrong.
Epic has to whip their slaves so that they can consistently shit out Fortnite updates while Valve just lazes around jerking off to VR, with Icefrog by the sidelines shitposting in dota.
>Flash sales to create an illusion of attachment to your library because it's bloated by games you bought on impulse

so basically decent features that people actually use?
thq nordic bought the studio making satisfactory in november
Hasn't he been killed off every fucking game? His death is never permanent.
the final area is novosibirsk and it's set up as being even worse than moscow
basically your wife is suffering from mustard gas poisoning and you have to go to this military hospital to find a drug that'll cure you
Long story short: you fight against a giant blind psychic man eating gorilla and you fall out of a window landing you with a severe case of radiation poisoning that ultimately kills you
Miller also dies
>sales are predatory
You heard it here folks. Epic Store uses predatory tactics now.
Cure her not you
