It's because it's an online game, the most important part of it is handled by a fucking server. I just don't get how people still bring it up as if it were a singleplayer game were you only have to somehow get around a DRM. You can't crack MMO's either and battle.net integration and how D3 handles the server requests are incredible complex compared to for example, a WoW private Server.

They actually cracked D3 in the closed beta and made it playable to people that way with unlimited time/progression and all beta assets unlocked. They never continued the project afterwards or maybe the beta worked differently from retail.

It's just casuals and secondaries crying. Gaming connoisseurs and handball enthusiasts love it and you would too. Unless you're scared of getting good or need the latest graphics and lootboxes to tickle your underdeveloped brain.
