Why aren't you learning japanese? Don't you like video games?
Why aren't you learning japanese? Don't you like video games?
If it’s not localized, it’s not worth playing.
Fuck off kpedo
Well japanese is autistic as a language so no I will pass
Because I’m not an autistic tranny.
Who is this eastern goddess?
This
too hard for you nigger ass? you much rather learn the bs inside memes that Yea Forums offer? fucking dumb shits like you fill up your brain with the most absolute useless garbage
because it's hard and I have other things to do and learn that are higher priority
she cute
I'm not a weebfaggot and I don't play animu games.
>Why aren't you learning japanese?
Why should I
>Don't you like video games?
No
A non-localized Asian. If she doesn't speak english, it's not worth it.
Go to your dilation station and stay there you mentally ill tranny.
this is one of my favorite söyjaks
lawl you literally proved my point
But I am.
Completely basic beginner tier but I am.
Yes
Tell me where to start
I'm learning Russian, it's a better deal
>understand russian movies
>understand russian literature
>get to play russian games
>get a russian gf
>russian piracy scene is accessible
>russian music
I am, but I'm just reading manga comfortably.
Playing games I fear I would have to look up many more words in Jisho than in your average manga. I plan on playing Dungeon Travelers 2-2 in any case, eventually.
Bad memory and I'm not going to spend a few years of my life learning a language just to play videogames.
t. dude who just started learning japanese today and will drop it in a week
Why would i learn Japanese for video games? it's not like the writing matters in them.
Every Japanese game worth playing since 2014 has been localized.
I am learning Japanese. I live in Japan.
Kanji is hard as fuck and I can't escape the feeling that if I learned it I'd realize japanese people write stupid shit just as often as english speakers i.e. usually.
>Every Japanese game worth playing has been localized
fixed
ain't this hoe korean tho?
Because I already know Japanese thanks to heaps of eroge on my NEET days
Easier than german or chinese.
Japanese would be one of the easiest languages if they just started to use solely kana with spaces. Learning the kanjis takes up half (if not more) of the learning process.
>If she doesn't speak your native language, it’s not worth it
Unironically this. Have you ever tried making a foreigner talk dirty? Spoiler alert: it’s not hot
I'm not learning a dead language to play games.
>Japanese
>kana with spaces
You don’t know a word of Japanese. That would be hell.
>Have you ever tried making a foreigner talk dirty? Spoiler alert: it’s not hot
Lived in Japan for two years. You're absolutely right.
>Why aren't you learning japanese?
i'm not a weeb and i dont care for japan
>Don't you like video games?
not enough to learn a language to play toys
>Fuck mi with your cocku-san
>Aaaaahhhh
>Hanbaagaa
It’s not a secret that internet trannies have a proclivity to emulate fictional characters to remain sane, somewhat, now is it? It’s not a coincidence that the rise of anime paralleled with the degeneration of Japanese culture and tradition. Learning Japanese was a worthwhile endeavor back in the day, when exploration was at an all-time high. Today that purpose has largely diminished and the only reason anyone from this godforsaken website would want to learn Japanese is to jack off to their favourite hentai game while crossdressing in cheap cosplay clothing.
it's really hard, longest i've spent was 3 months studying daily or at least 4-5 times a week and i still feel like i barely know anything
I don't get what you're trying to say.
How hard could it be to just write わたし は アノン です。
As far as I know, that's pretty much what south korea did. Even the younger generation of japanese can't read certain simple kanji without furigana because of cellphones and having them not practicing and memorizing the kanji more practical.
chink scribbles were a mistake
Because Japanese is full of homophones and Korean is not.
>it's not a secret that internet trannies have a proclivity to emulate fictional characters
>posts a frog
Context?
Choa on the front page!
based filter raping you into submission
>durr american zoomers can’t differentiate between their/there/they’re, english is too needlessly complicated and hard to learn wah wah
pedant
I'm not sure if you're making fun of me. But wouldn't it be more practical to not have a writing system even the newer native generations have issue to learn?
Use google, you nigger. Japanese has many homophones, what part of that do you not understand?
real talk how do i get my head in the game learning kanji? brute force reading with dictionary until it makes sense? study in order of appearance or simplicity of radicals? this shit is fucking me up
i can't fabricate motivation to last more than a couple of weeks
Download the Remembering the Kanji book and go to kanji koohii for mnemonics
No, I meant the context of the discussion, you morron.
Like in Swedish, you have a word spelled "val". It can mean "whale" and it can mean "election" or "choice".
If I say "Det är dags för val i Sverige", you can easily assume I'm not talking about a "whale". Because of the context of sentence.
Japanese is not alone of having a lot of homophones.
Hai, benkyoo-wo shimasu!
because I can't afford to visit Japan and I'm not going to learn an entire language exclusively for vidya gaymes and animu/mango
Japanese may not be alone in having a lot of homophones but it has among the largest number of homophones of any language which is what that user is trying to convey
What Japan has to do with videogames?
because i have no idea on where to start with, and there's no hebrew to jap lessons since only using english to jap won't be enough for me and i would prefer using my maximum knowledge of one language, also i know russian but i don't even know how to read it only speaking it thanks parents
Learning a language is utterly pointless unless you will use it a lot. I don’t know where the fuck to get untranslated games so I’m not going to be using Japanese much
I don’t think you understand how common homophones are in Japanese. Why do you think 90% of jap jokes are wordplay?
It’s like comparing the use of passive speech in English and Japanese.
>easier than German
Not a chance, unless you are a Inuit speaker German grammar doesn't feel as alien and it definitely hasn't got roones
3 years for weebanese study = 20 months for German
Hey kid, this is a no yid zone. Beat it Jew boy
>be me
>love JRPGs, can't read japanese
>everyone else hates japanese so they translate the games for me
>sweet
That girl is Korean, not ugly Japanese gook
I can agree on that. But if they can differentiate in speaking, I don't see the issue doing it in writing.
Woah did this user really say Jap is easier to learn than German? German grammar is extremely similar to English and has a ton of very similar words. Crazy thing to assert.
I just found the german grammar to be so convoluted compared to japanese.
But gooks are koreans
Koreans are gooks, Japanese are nips. learn to racism you fucking faggot
kiffen sie?
>gook
You're mixing up, user.
But what if it really is the day of the whale and everyone mistakenly assumes that you’re talking about elections?
Nein.
Trust me. You don't.
>been a NEET for a about a week now
>decided I need something to do
>currently taking piano lessons
Do you think it would be worth learning moon as well? I still remember kana from a few years ago. It's not like I have anything better to do.
Yes, this is truly pleasant and efficient to read. I know this is bait but I am still mad
Has it occurred to you to learn something you will have use of instead?
Be mad. Japanese will probably devolve to kana in the future anyway because of the declining rate the newer generations are learning the written language.
Fuck, watakushi no eyes hurt
This. Kanji is a pain to learn coming from a western language, but it is so efficient once you actually learn it. Unless it’s smudged or in a blurry photo
Fuck the average nigger, not everyone needs to be literate. If you can’t bother learning, the language shouldn’t be “streamlined” for your retarded nigger ass.
what about mother 3
What about it?
and?
fucking hate this, played pokemon as a beginner in japanese and it was fucking torture trying to read
never localized
And?
You got me curious. Would it still look ass if you used regular kanji but kept the spaces?
「向上心のないやつは馬鹿だ」ということだね
世界地図作りました
>literacy has dropped this decade, what is the cause of this?
>it seems people today are somehow unable to learn basic shit even though everyone could do it the past century
>clearly we must radically alter our way of writing and then proceed to transcribe every single literary work, instruction book, technical manual and street sign so people can read it since we will now stop teaching people kanji for no reason
Sounds probable.
向上心なんて言葉は今まで知ったことないw
aspirationはずっと野望だと思った
信長のせいやん
still not worth playing?
This is a thought that often haunts me, imagine spending years of methodical moon learning and within this century either the Weebanese shift to kana/roomaji or the Chinese Communist Party is toppled and the country shifts to the Idalic alphabet and does away with hanzhi too
Nope
rtk is good shit but did not know about the other, will check it out ty breh
This is something which happens to all languages. It will just be more noticeable for japanese because of their written system.
私 は その 人 を 常に 先生 と 呼んでいた。だから ここ でも ただ 先生 と 書く だけで 本名 は 打ち明けない。これ は 世間 を 憚かる 遠慮
という よりも、 その 方 が 私 にとって 自然 だから である。 私 は その 人 の 記憶 を 呼び起す ごと に、すぐ「先生」と いいたく なる。筆 を と 執っても 心持 は 同じ事 である。 よそよそしい 頭文字 など は と ても 使う 気にならない。
I think it looks terrible and actually diminishes readability but it may be easier for people learning the basics of the language. Kana already acts as a way to break up and distinguish the words visually so spaces aren't really necessary.
Yeah, or imagine spending years learning Japanese and they just find a fish that you stick in your ear that translates everything anyway, what a waste of time that would be.
Thank God I’m too high IQ to learn things instead of just waiting for these things to resolve themselves.
You'll be dead before that happens.
Taking a long break. Plan on starting the next book next week.
I'm considering it, but at the moment I'm trying to learn korean and I'm not sure if trying to learn two really difficult languages simultaneously would work put too well...
In school I always felt I struggled with languages, but that may have been because I didn't really care much for French and Spanish whereas I'm more engaged with korean because I decided to give it a go because I wanted to rather than being forced to. Also doing flashcards on the train makes my commute more productive.
it's got a fan translation anyway, refuse to learn that abomination they call a language
No motivation
lmao dumb baka self-important jigaboo weeaboo.
Kotaete kudasai user! Ittaiiiiiiii Ittaiiiiiiii atashi no shoujoooooooooooooo
Why aren't they localizing their video games? Don't they like the non-Japanese?
>Why aren't you learning Japanese?
think again, kid
i'm trying
i've been focusing on memorizing hiragana for about a week and will start katakana soon probably
I cant learn Japanese, kiddo.
So many different signs, three alphabets mixed together... I had enough problems with Deutsch at school and its the same alphabet.
>kana-only
Yes, I look forward to reading words like 'hashi' which have different meanings but the same readings and can even be used in the same sentence.
worst way to learn japanese
That shit is garbage.
Most of the languages on it has garbage exercises.
What's a good game around Dragon Ball levels in terms of difficulty of understanding?
Korean and Japanese literally have the same grammar, so learning both at the same time basically means you just need to learn more vocabulary.
That's Kokoro's famaous line.
Pick it up and read it.
It's great book except for being NTR shit.
What's so bad about them and what would you recommend instead then?
When it comes to Kanji, Wanikani and writing by hand for kanji practice.
There are tons of decent grammar pages out there.
I can't.
>Wanikani
Heard this costs money.
You wrote 先生 as さきなま, why u do dis
It does, but it is also pretty good. Otherwise, use Anki.
Haha lol epic... :)
this but unironically
>barely have the energy and motivation to do my core2k reps every day
>never have time to learn grammar before or after that
So I've heard, but then I'd be worried about getting the two confused because of that.
Also I'm concerned about how I would go about trying to schedule learning in my free time, e.g. would it be best to alternate daily, do 2-korean then 2-jap, or some other method.
this but even more unironically
precisely
I'm kinda scared of starting and by the time I finish, I would either hate anime/vidya or that I don't need to because so many games are localized in English. Apart from a few games, there's no incentive for me to learn Japanese.
>tfw you have a reason to learn nihongo outside of consumable media
>nihongo
It's called ジャパニーズ.
get off my site and get to work
Yeah, just focus on Korean then and get comfortable with the grammar there.
After being comfortable with Korean, learning basic Japanese should take only around 1 month to learn for a Korean speaker, then you can move onto reading Japanese vidya with a dictionary (this is what I did with Rance 6).
wapanese
>by the time I finish
Learning a language is like exercising your muscles: you should never actually "stop" unless you want to gradually lose all of your gains.
Even once you reach your "goal level" and don't feel you want to improve anymore you still need to maintain what you have.
Can i learn it in a passive way? putting effort in learning a new language just to play vidya seems like too retarded
How the fuck do you learn vocab that isn't kanji? I know you use anki/dictionary for kanji, is there a guide for hiragana vocab?
japanese make shit games, I'm learning Latin and Sanskrit instead
You can learn "fair" amount of listening with a grammar 101 guide and anime. you won't be able to read shit though.
I'm learning Japanese, and I for the most part hate Japanese games.
Their literature, on the other hand, is fantastic. Plus I need the language for my work and research.
But there is only a handful of Japanese games that ever interested me, and most of them are translated without issues.
ill just wait until some autistic tranny fandubs it
That's true, but either I play all my Japanese games in their native language or have job prospects for it, and I dunno if the latter is decent. What was everyone's reason to learn Japanese? Just for vidya and manga?
Russian girlfriends are just as shit as any.
I've had a few.
Amusingly they all think I learnt Russian to score women, but it was just so I could read old ww2 documents and shit.
This. Latin video games are the best.
Fuck kanji. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to copy fucking chinks of all people?
That's a Korean girl though
I'd love to learn Japanese because its nice to speak, but their written language is needlessly complex and retarded.
Wani-kani can teach you solid passive grasp on kanji and a good amount of vocab and it takes (unless you do it really seriously) about 15-20 mins. a day.
It is not for free though.
You will still need to learn the grammar and rest of vocab, but honestly, if you want just passive knowledge, you can get that just from watching copious amounts of anime, japanese movies, shows etc...
Can you pirate this wani-kani? I want to pirate knowledge and pirate an education for myself.
It really is. It's literally the least logical and efficient writing system in the world. Fucking hieroglyphs are more practical than japanese grapheme system.
It's not just that though.
Not only did they decide to copy China's writing system, they used it wrong and made up their own meanings for the symbols. Then they invented two new writing systems as well and now use all three of the fucking things at once.
The logic of Chinese characters is that the symbol contains the meaning, so even if you speak different dialects that are incomprehensible to each other you can still understand each others' written word. A bit pointless if you don't use the same meanings for the characters though.
Not to my knowledge. It's a subscription based website. They are very liberal with their API so maybe someone found a way but I am not aware of it.
I'm the guy who's trying korean and thebreasoning for it is about 1/2 because i might go on vacation to south korea next time I fly long haul, 1/2 because I fancied a challenge to broaden my mind a bit
That is not entirely correct. They did not use it "wrong", they adapted it for their own needs. And the meanings mostly remained the same (though they did do some adjustments, and often simplified the symbols).
The introduction of complimentary phonetic grapheme system kinda undermined the "unifying different dialects" point though. And their use is fucking needlesly complicated because they had to force their own vocabulary on a grapheme system that was arguably the least optimal for the purpose.
>my site
こんにちは博之さん。
Nakadashi
I just put into an auto kana converter so あたま for 頭 was added with the furigana かしら. Please forgive me.
that's Choa, she was in AoA but quit awhile back
Japanese girls are sluts.
Finding stuff to listen to is a bit of a hassle at N4. Japanese Pod is what I usually use as well as a bit of Abema news. Apparently N3 is where things start getting good right?
