Rain World thread. Got it in this last sale for 2,99, like 3 hours in and I'm having a blast, but I have a few questions.
-reached drainage as first unlocked door, backtracked like a bitch until industrial, from there got stuck in the tall building and I was told that's not the way either (trying to finish the story at the moment), so continued east until chimney and apparently that's not the way either because paperclip disappeared, where the fuck do I go from here?
-one of those fucking tribes shot a stick to paperclip, and it is gone, is there any way to make him appear again or do I have to start murdering tribes for a living now?
-apparently there's a trophy which sais that you have to befriend one of those tribes, but they're friendly right now (as in they are not attacking me), but the trophy doesn't show up, did I do something wrong? Never gave them anything by the way, but they are kind enough to share their sticks with me
Game is awesome by the way, go grab it if you haven't
Rain World
From Industrial you want to go to either Garbage Wastes (intended) or Shaded (harder)
The tribes will trade with you if you drop stuff they like. Give them a bunch of stuff they really like and you'll get the achievement
Just to clarify first question, right now I'm sleeping in the shelter closest to the entrance to chimney from industrial
Is there more than one tribe, are they color codes like the lizards? Because some of them seem neutral of friendly to me and others attack on sight, and at first I thought it was the color
Post cool webms
I want to FUCK slugcat!
>same posts in every thread
>Same webms in every thread
>I swear this isn't a general guys
i think i fucked up
new player/game, i have ended up in chimney canopy. i havent seen a hologram showing my slug family in ages. i just kept progressing up and right.
is there progression in this game? am i going the 'wrong' way? do you unlock shit?
im kinda tempted to just start over and make sure i follow the guidance, i cba to to backtrack and hunt for a hologram to show me the way.
Keep going, follow the guide for the main story path, there's no powerups, just your own mastery of the mechanics and controls. Try figuring shit out for your own, this is a game based on the stories and anecdotes that happen to you in particular, don't look up shit or you'll be stolen of those one of a kind moments. Also, have patience, and assume the payoff is basically discovering new areas and creatures
If the guide doesn't show up, that is not the intended way, although that's relative. Go back to industrial area
Before you can get most ingame achievements you need to get the achievement survivor, which requires spending 5 days at max karma. After that you'll get a skill you can use once called a passage, and then other achievements will open up. Each time you get another achievement you'll get another use of passage.
the scavs have a global reputation, some of them are just assholes compared to others.
Is this one of those procedurally generated or roguelike games?
Or is it more like Hollow Knight?
Handcrafted world. The only thing "procedural" about it is the enemy AI dictating their positioning in the world.
It's not procedural, but the AI and placement of the enemies follows their own eating cycles, you will never find creatures in the same spot twice and you have to backtrack a lot, so each playthrough is different
Only procedurally generated thing is the animations.
There's a good Gdc conference on YouTube with the developers explaining how that works, pretty interesting in my opinion
>You will never find creatures in the same spot twice.
Overselling it a bit there. Most stuff, let's take lizards for example, have a "home" tunnel and they usually spawn near it. So you'll always meet the same lizards in the same areas. However, how they wander around as the cycle proceeds does indeed change.
However, if you die, when you spawn back in it's still the same cycle, meaning enemies are subject to the same spawn points and logic as for what direction they'll be heading.
Both hk and this are great, go grab this one if you liked hk, though they are completely different games
Speaking about cycles, is there any difference in being on cycle 1 or 29?
Not that I've figured out yet. It's pretty much just a counter of how many times you succesfully made it back to the shelter.
Is something dependant on that, like the ending or difficulty?
On hard mode there's a limit of 20 cycles before dying results in a game over that requires you to restart. On normal and easy it's just to count how many times you've successfully slept.
It only matters when playing as the Hunter aka hard mode.
do you play with controller or keyboard
i started with controller, but got annoyed with accidentally crouching all the time.
plus it's nice being able to play with one hand on keyboard, relaxing.
Wtf are you expected to complete the game in less than 20 saves? That's almost without dying, right??
It's not that hard, really. The hunter can carry two spears and is faster. Of course there's more enemise and they're more aggressive, but you just got to know what you're doing.
Pretty much, and the world is also crawling with the deadliest beasts.
dying doesn't count as a cycle, it just drops your karma. And it probably only takes 5 cycles or so if you know exactly where you're going (which you should, since you need to beat the game to unlock hard mode)
Yeah, but is almost as it counts, because you need a certain karma to open gates so dying means you need another one to raise it
Advanced movement
How do you do backflips off poles?
why is monk so hungry? doesn't he know there are much easier to reach fruits he can eat instead?
No idea, I always thought some of those fruits were there just to tease you and it looks I was wrong
He's a greedy gluttonous asshole
Keep posting cool art
