the only things terrible about RD is the sales and ally turns on 2-4 specifically

PoR is better but both games are pretty lacking in different areas. RD has arguably the least consistent map design in the series with a few good ones and a ton of terrible ones. It also screws with team building because characters come in and out of your party constantly

You can beat almost every Fire Emblem game with almost any character soloing it, that's hardly relevant. The issue is that you have a handful of units that are optimal for practically the entire game, with zero investment, and no others can ever really catch up.

They're a fine addition on the player side, but as enemies they make turn order matter, make checking and remembering the skills of every single one mandatory, and turn the math into a jumble fuck that slows the pace of the game to a crawl. The punji pit map in particular is the most tedious, cheese encouraging, garbage level probably since the original Gaiden.

And that's my problem with Conquest gameplay, you have a lot of great challenge that is ultimately subverted by the game going out of its way to incentivize playing the worst way possible. Lots of cool and unique weapons for specific problems? Fuck that, FORGED IRON! A solid cast of specialists where everyone has a role? Fuck no, 1-2 range God kings are your front lines. Conquest is by far at its most fun in the early game before you get the majority of your tools. There's a reason why Chapter 10 is almost unanimously considered the best chapter.

Gameplay wise? I would probably give it to either Radiant Dawn for its level design and sheer variety, or Geneology for its open ended approach to forcing your own engagements. I'm sure you're going to come back with a "Gotch yah! At most you're within 5 years of the students. Plus the school is more like uni with Manuela being older than everyone else. So there is no enrolment age limit.

They're hardly a common enemy, even in Conquest, and even if the ninja cave encourages cheese, it's also nice to see a map that encourages the player to move carefully rather than rushing blindly. I admit It can get tedious, but it's not as hard with the right preparations. I myself enjoyed it a lot, but then again I had a Berserker Arthur and Great Knight Effie to handle them with Axes, along with Camilla. I also had a Hero Charlotte and a Sniper Mozu that helped me a lot becsuse everything in that map is weak to axes and bows until the swordmasters arrive.

Games that pander to women. The men are drawn very differently than shonen male characters (Goku, Naruto, Luffy). Fire Emblem has been gender neutral with give and take a characters that pander to women or men's sensitivities, but Three Houses is where it goes 99.9% all in for the otome crowd. Sailor Moon's main demographic is women, but it was pretty popular with guys too. FE Three Houses doesn't have that broad demographic appeal because the artist is fucking garbage with a weird visual style only seen in actual yaoi games.

Why does everyone complain about "map design". What's an example of good map design? I understanf that open maps from awakening are considered bad, but I hardly ever hear about anyone describing good maps.

The soldiers probably get in the way of a more advanced lightning engine. If you check newer shots, they've actually worked to give the grunts gender variations and different face and hairstyles, so that's probably what took priority.

I wonder if there is a way to recruit generic soldiers as "main" units. The game has perma death and yet only very few units per path based on what we know, so there must be a way to get extra troops.

FE is still considered a niche game since it's a T-RPG but all that waifu shit since Awakening (and fueled by FEH) and the smashfags made more fans of the franchise.

And still, it doesn't excuse how FE16 looks like a fuckin shovelware. I'll still wait for E3 but it doesn't look appealing so far and the new gameplay mechanics don't entice me enough to preorder the game yet.

We don't know what's the map design like,we don't know the structure of the game,we don't know how the resource management is going to work,we don't know if you can grind or not,we barely even know the basic classes,we barely know how combat arts,magic and gambits work,the class and growth system appears completely overhauled so there's no point of reference.

The only examples people can think of are ones with release dates we don't know about yet. We don't know EVERYTHING about Mario Maker 2 but that first trailer and direct showed a lot of gameplay. Hell, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is coming out nearly the same time as 3H yet they've uploaded a decent amount of gameplay for it.

It actually looks so bad that it's kind of painful to look at. The game is so low rez that placed against the crisp and clean UI it fucking hurts.

seriously the game is out in two months and we got 1 trailer at last e3 and another in february they aint promoting this shit and its baffling after the wild successes of Awakening Fates and heroes
