What went wrong? It was a bit short, but was it really enough to kill the franchise?
Deus Ex
Literally ended just as it was getting interesting, fuck that game
It's not a true deus ex successor, there's hardly any talk about conspiracies and shit. It's a very different game from the original.
Deus ex is not dead, just on hiatus.
Faggot and normies played it. The game was great even had more replayability than the previous one and it's not short because it's around 15 hours, it just left many questions unanswered and left on cliffhanger. Plebbit and trannies couldn't take that because they're unable to end the game as the foxiest fox
>What went wrong?
literally nothing, it was literally a proper modern video game. world had depth AND detail, gameplay was balanced (fun and relatively creative)
the autist crowd had a tantrum, but you can't really blame them. most people who been at the beginning of a franchise have their set desires.
but fuck man, relatively speaking...relative as in compared to games that come out today? the production and detail and gameplay...all of it was elite. even killed it in terms of representing the cyber punk genre.
that entire development team did a kick ass job. idc what anyone says. literally the only current gen game that had me locked in.
they didnt know what to do with the story, the sequel had no memorable moments and felt like it was all over the place.
Not even joking I had no idea the last boss was the last boss until I beat it. Seriously why did they have to cut it when I was just getting into it hard. HR is awesome though. Still do a play through every now and then.
I think it's only real issue is the story is weak, it has that "middle of the story" feel where not a lot is happening because it's building up to a third game we haven't gotten yet.
Everything else was mostly an improvement, though I miss having more hubs.
>implying they wont announce a new deus ex at e3 now that tomb raider is over
they literally said this was their exact plan, why do you guys pretend like deus ex is dead?
I felt cockblocked when the game ended, felt like I just hit the halfway climax and the credits were rolling. Of course they'll revive it at some point in the future but I hope they keep going with the current plot with Adam clonesen and all
They released a game that was half finished for full price. The stuff that was there was fantastic but it was very clearly in need of a second half.
When did they say that? Last I heard they were putting the franchise on indefinite hiatus
It isn't Deus Ex
>Prior Deus Ex games were globe trotting adventures. This game takes place in fucking Prague
>"muh aug rights" instead of world wide conspiracies involving crazy shit
>Using Adam Jensen again. His story was told and over. Should have been an original character
>story is completely uninteresting and unfinished
>severe lack of weaponry and gadgets at your disposal
>Normies didn't even know if this was a sequel or re-release to HR. Covers looks very similar and names are boring enough to be confused
>Eidos Montreal fucking up again for the second time and giving XP for everything. This goes against the Deus Ex mantra of not judging or punishing the player for how he wants to play
>Trying way too hard to make its stupid hacking minigame a thing
>you now have to micromanage your augs and lock certain ones out
Ugh, just another disappointment this generation. I love the original DE and this one hurt a lot
This except that pls gib more do sex games.
These.. Also third game is confirmed? Fuck yeah. pls be true.
Source? That'd be fucking hype.
Boring and short main story, that has no weight. Also only one important choice in the entire game.
K feel that Clone Jensen subplot was part of the game, but it was cut in very late stage of development.
Action gameplay was not really anything great, but stealth play was amazing. Nev augs looked cool as fuck.
It had an amazing ambient soundtrack.
1) Narrative dropped the ball.
2) The market shifted away from fully priced, slower paced, linear stealthy single-player games. To make this kind of game be very profitable it has to be top tier and very accessible, while game of other genres do not. Another open world live service action adventure can be mediocre and still make a good profit.
Basically, it was killed by emerging market trends and sub-standard writing. It also didn't help that the game was buggy, unoptimized and ran poorly on most PCs at the time.
I'm replaying it now, going for a pacifist-no-alarms-completionist-permadeath-mode run.
It's fucking great. Near flawless.
Unfortunately its only half a game. Near flawless half, but still half.
They literally spent more time developing that shitty player vs ai battle "service" mode than actual story mode.
I thought that final boss battle was some first encounter somewhere at 50% of the game, but when it actually ended there, I felt like I wasted time playing this garbage.
I dont understand why people call it 50% complete
Because for me it feels like its only 33% at best
Bad marketing killed the game.
Square Enix just did everything wrong
1. Augs lives matter made lefties Seethe with rage
2. The pre-order released early bullshit that was dropped upon outcry
3. The microtransactions that are only one time use like WTF
Killed the hype for the game even the game itself was good
>3. The microtransactions that are only one time use like WTF
Didn't they end up patching that out after the shitstorm?
