this came out and no one gave a fuck about it

Attached: Override.jpg (1920x1080, 1.94M)

No marketing

Fromsoft will revive it.

>he still believe that theres gonna be a new armored core

if you really cared about mechs youd know about it anyway

I've been out of the loop for mecha for a few years now because I've lost hope.

The true revival will be Mech Souls

Has MW5 dropped yet?

Attached: Bushwacker.jpg (1044x765, 111K)

Cybernator was the first SNES I owned.

Miyazaki fucking hates armored core and will never touch it again so long as he can help it. AC devs have been leaving the company regularly for years due to frustration. And the next big thing for FROM is their Game of Thrones shit.

I'm actually looking forward to Daemon X Machina.

That actually looks pretty neato. Too bad not on PC/xbox/switch.

Where is it bros?

Attached: metal-wolf-chaos.jpg (1024x768, 1.01M)

I was looking forward to DXM, too, but after playing the demo I am now worried that it's going to have retarded Monster Hunter-style grinding. I don't understand why anybody would want to have to run the same mission over and over trying to get the part that they want to drop from an enemy mech, but that is what the demo lead me to believe that the game will be like.

What happened to that vanillaware mech game?

>No Robot Alchemic Drive sequel.

Attached: Mobile Fortress Balam.jpg (1920x1080, 549K)

human shaped mechs are the gayest fucking cringe thing in all of sci fi. only gooks would ever come up with it

Its vanilla man. They'll probably have something at Sony e3

That would be pretty RAD.

It's a shame this will never see a sequel because polyphony digital is stuck in gran turismo land forever.

Attached: C5HDtRRUcAEIe1O.jpg (500x493, 81K)

its on PC, multiplayer is dead, single player not really worth it.
also on xbox, multiplayer probably dead but couldnt say

Any mecha games with this feel?

Attached: 1551456440260.jpg (700x697, 343K)

Ring of Red

Not entirely mecha but command n conquer tiberian sun might have that combined arms feel.

Checked them out they look bretty fun.
Thanks my /m/en.

No problem

Attached: CNCTS_Titan_Concept_Art.png (638x750, 400K)

August/September

The new Mechwarrior will either be the final nail in the coffin or the saviour of the genre and revive everything.
Most likely the former.

>Tfw Dual Gear is dead

Hopefully not.

youtube.com/watch?v=wcxyG4oYAMY
looking forward to this one

Attached: 78b419dbe5e85e755aad06f5dd01eadb_original.png (700x372, 343K)

always thought that the idea of mechs were fucking stupid
what could a mech do that a tank doesn't already accomplish
>mobility
tanks are already fast as fuck
>they can move through terrain that a tank can't
then that's a job for the infantry, not armor
>big guns
pretty sure a high-explosive shell is fairly large already

/k/faggots are literally the most boring fucking wastes of oxygen on the entire planet

After the abortion that was Armored Core V's shitty ass multiplayer focus, yeah it's dead and should probably stay dead so that bullshit never happens again

Because it's cool.

A mech can look fucking awesome

is it comming out anywhere besides china?

think of the goddamn cost of a glorified walking tank
think of the fuel/energy consumption of a glorified walking tank
that aint cool
that's a fucking nightmare

no, the mech strat games are keeping it going for now.. but I wouldn't mind a proper mech warrior game. Walking through a building while cutting open mountains with gauss cannons

Counter-point: robots are cool.

this is like /k/ 's version of the bikini armor debate

No it's cool.

Yeah but it looks cool.

Attached: tiger face.jpg (640x1442, 112K)

if you want cool just slap powered armor on infantry, they're functionally the same thing

Powered armor is mecha you dolt.
And no, it's not the same thing as a super robot.

think of the goddamn cost of a war
think of the fuel/energy consumption of a war
that aint cool
that's a fucking nightmare

fuck /m/ and fuck spaceniggers

>powered armor is mecha
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Attached: b6cf3a62f7df3851417ee768c5eff87c.jpg (571x800, 132K)

>I have never seen Votoms: The Post

>they're functionally the same thing
Modern infantry can't fly in space and shoot impossible numbers of missiles

Why do mecha makes /k/ seethe so much?

Attached: 1551457378140.jpg (500x705, 234K)

Titanfall 2 is alive. Best FPS I've ever played.

well if it's space then wouldn't a theoretical military spaceship already be able to do that
doesn't even need to look like a goofy hunk of metal that vaguely resembles a humanoid
just something practical

Eat shit earthnoid scum

I like spaceships, too.
But still: robots are cool.

Attached: Strike_Suit_Zero_-_Screenshot_01.jpg (1920x1080, 938K)

What is your favorite Front Mission game, Yea Forums?

>Gundambabbys

I don't even know what that is. That said, I still probably wouldn't play it because it looks like it was made for babies. Call me when the mech genre decides to grow up again.

Attached: 1530399510926.jpg (500x367, 58K)

There is a new mecha game being in development by one of the acquired MS studios

Hopefully this turns out good. Then normies will buy into it and justify marketing costs for AAA mecha.

Attached: GundamLiveActionInstagram.png (1024x1024, 1M)

Can you control a tank in space? Can you pilot a spaceship with big ass artillery as fast as a helicopter? I doubt it.
That's where a mech achives its true potential

Attached: 1554250314700.gif (500x308, 1.91M)

I'll just say I was excited when from soft leaks happened, then immediately disappointed it is not a new Armored Core.

5, though I also have a soft spot for 4.

Attached: frontmission.jpg (1890x1440, 985K)

Fantastic taste

>Mecha
>The idea of working on giant robots like you would your car washed away by generic third person shooters with a robot filter on it.
Niggas just don't understand.

It’s a great game, but it’s not even remotely alive.

yeah theres a demo around somewhere if you can find it
there are benefits, terrain is potentially easier traversed, you have more aiming range, and weapons can be easily swapped during battle

>the people who shut down the servers on an active multiplayer-focused mech game to spend the cash on some other bullshit is gonna revive the mech genre
Heh.

Attached: Chrome_Hounds.jpg (3192x2140, 3.02M)

Yes, we know. Tanks > Mecha for realism. Mechs make no sense as real weapon platforms, but rule of cool. That said there should be more Mecha AND tank games.

Fuck your giant human robot bullshit. Give me more gunboxes on legs.

Attached: 4b00ea7800cc964000c02c284c852dc3.png (819x975, 804K)

You are welcome

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 124K)

3 honestly. So fun

gun hazard

I second this

Attached: ro2gAxb.jpg (800x1400, 222K)

But gunboxes are the most impractical of all. Just look at Metal Gear Rex

Evolved

Weirds me out that Chromehounds was shut down but Tenchu Z is still up and running. I love both games but they came out around the same time, both by FromSoft and FromNetworks but Tenchu's multiplayer is a fun bonus while Chromehounds relied entirely on it to work. I wonder what the thought process was.

Attached: adjudicator.jpg (444x296, 40K)

Western mecha is trash. Mecha is inherently unrealistic as fuck, so at least Japanese mecha usually being unrealistically armored or fast "works". Western mecha is usually still lightly armored, slow chugging pieces of shit, with ugly designs.

If anything it's going to be better than g-saviour because of the better cgi

your opinion is shit, both western and jap mechs are great in their own way

>not wanting to pilot a moving holy relic/temple and fire shells the size of semi-trucks at heretics.

Attached: 48C574F4-446A-4890-A6FC-FB7E6958DC94.jpg (400x387, 22K)

Is Warframe /m/? It has organic suits controlled by space teens and skeletal looking giant robots

Attached: POE_PressArt-hero.jpg (940x528, 395K)

The best mecha in Mechwarrior were the ones that were stolen from the 11's.

>only the size of a temple
>laughs in nippon

There's no such thing as "western mecha"
Battletech's entire aesthetic is stolen whole-cloth from Real Robot genre mecha animes.

Ok mountain sized better?

Attached: 78FB0A4E-CAEA-4C37-92F4-110062B8B6A1.jpg (300x434, 64K)

Tenchu Z wasn't multiplayer focused, they probably don't know they're still paying a bill each month for it.

>Starsiege is dead
Fucking catastrophe. The loresmithing was on par with Battletech and WH40K

Attached: prometheus-cybermatrix.png (407x476, 66K)

I've been playing through the Armored Core series and loving it, currently up to Nexus. Is it worth buying a PS3 for 4 and 5?

It a shame that not many people paid attention to Starsiege besides Tribes

closest we’ll ever get to a guyver game

Attached: 8D0E18A6-CF03-4456-A759-6CE443466CE9.jpg (1092x1200, 239K)

Attached: 45867.gif (301x260, 2.25M)

Brigador is awesome and doesn’t get much attention. I like your taste user.

4 and For Answer are good. 5 and Verdict Day not so much, though VD is only $20 on the PS Store if you want to give it a shot.

i hope mechwarrior 5 is good. everything japanese plays like dbz games these days where you fly around at mach 3

4 by miles but 5 has a better story.

Even worse than not have a proper Armored Core sequel.

I'm waiting for a game that can properly capture the hand drawn mecha aesthetic of the 70s-90s. Old Super Robot Wars was good at that, especially the PS1 and PS2 games, but the new ones feel soulless.
I'm also hoping Mechwarrior 5 will be good but I'm not feeling too sure about it.

That's hilarious.

to be honest, giant robot are realisticaly dumb, but something more like the Proto Garland or a valkirye. They can work for more quit missions than tanks, like you have to steal a container, it's easier to hide the mecha and to just grab the box and run the fuck away.
But I do love some big mean tanks myself.

>Mm yes the sight on this gun is slightly to the right of how it was realistically held in WW2
Vs
>ANIME JA NAI
>KONYA WA HURRICANE

/k/fags are the worst

mechs aren't practical, fag

/k/ is a pretty fun board though

ARMORED CORE SIX WHEN

Was that supposed to be an argument?

Attached: mech-5.jpg (636x848, 120K)

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want intense mech building and customization like Armored Core, that's dead. If you just like playing mech games for mechy feels, they still make those.

I'm still waiting on a good fantasy mech game.

Attached: 1433299765327.png (960x720, 1.29M)

If you like shmups, there was a weird little subgenre of feudal mecha shooters from the '90s.

There's Vanguard Bandits.
I've never played it but I heard it was pretty alright.

not mecha.

Speaking of power suits and keeping it Yea Forums there's robotech invasion. "sequel" to battlecry, your armor is also your bike.

Because apparently I was the only dude in the world who actually bought RAD.

Attached: 1449486378214.webm (483x348, 857K)

Just do it as a setting that's got star trek style matter replicators and thus actual resources have lost a lot of their value. Fuel cost nonexistant, cost of producing the unit is only R&D and labor, and there's a huge gap in the economy that the booming mechtechnician and maintenance division and churning out a grunt suit model a year like iPhones is helping fill.

nah
HAWKEN is getting re-released by the group that owns 505 Games this fall

Attached: Annotation_2019-05-20_184339.jpg (1216x852, 182K)

Any mech games worth emulating?

Attached: raises hoof.jpg (620x413, 48K)

Yeah, this one.

I feel like if you want a Mech game to be successful these days you have to add the Mechs in subtly and hide them behind a Trojan Horse like a really nice ass.

Tell everyone it's an action game, marketing focuses on the action game and the girl with the amazing ass, but once everyone buys the game that when they realize 80% of the game is awesome mecha action instead.

Help me out Yea Forums there was a game where you were commanding super robot "outside" of it, meaning that you were in the middle of the battle but instead of having a cockpit you would have been on top of the mech or a building while giving orders to your robot.
Anyone knows the name of the game?

No idea but the concept sounds RAD.

yeah but what is the BEST mecha game???

Attached: 1494848816463.gif (400x400, 1.81M)

just needs some angel wings and an anime catchphrase

"mecha" is not a genre.

Thank you for reminding me I had the biggest crush on Nanao when I was a kid for some reason. Also this game is 100% the reason why I love mecha, it seriously deserved more love on release.

The PS2 game is pretty fun, features about every single AT throughout the whole franchise. Some missions can be a bit repetitive, and you might need to do a bit of trial and error if you don't know Japanese, but for the most part it's super straight forward.
The Jager looks like a love child between the Scopedog and Fatty.

You mean

Attached: gouf-andrea-gatti.jpg (636x900, 172K)

"horror" isn't a genre either, what's your point?

Mechwarrior 5 coming out in 2 months

I know. Its dead sadly but to be honest it wasn't looking great anyways. I just to be specific I want a Heavy Gear 3 in the vein of 2. Maybe even a MechWarrior Mercenaries style campaign.
Can I go in without knowing a lick of japanese? Is there a rough translation?

Pretty relaxing Hobby, but its smaller than expected
I have another one comming in the Mail.
Also mech Games are usually very mediocre, sadly.

>love Xabungle
>only Xabungle game is a JP only racing game
>only other game Xabungle is in is a SRW fighting game on the N64

Maybe if the series got revived maybe it'd get at least one good game but that's got a near 0% chance of happening.

>Can I go in without knowing a lick of japanese?
As I said, Trial and Error. I don't know any Japanese and I beat the main story and all the OVA levels; probably have a few side missions left over though.
>Is there a rough translation?
No. I recall some guy on Yea Forums claimed he translated it, but refused to give out a patch. It'd be nice if the group that translated the Berserk PS2 game did a translation, considering it was made by the same devs. But that'll never ever happen.

Attached: 1516058666543.jpg (615x580, 68K)

Battle Operation 2 is pretty darn good for a Gundam game
Also which gunpla?

Alright, I'll give it a shot. Are any of the PS1 titles worth it?

Looks like the HG Rx-78 which are relatively cheap and easy to build. I'd recommend polishing the nubs though

Haven't tried them yet, been thinking about playing them once I finish watching the rest of the OVAs. But I've also never heard anyone talk about them, though not a surprise since I've rarely seen anyone talk about the PS2 game. I should say, the PS2 game is pretty straightforward, so don't let it being entirely in Japanese scare you.

Why is that bushwacker so thin and lanky?

Maximum Sexiness

Well, apparently the retail game will have the ability to sell and buy parts. So maybe, maybe not. I imagine some rare stuff would probably end up being farm only.

I wanted to replay this game, but even with a workaround I couldn't get the sound working on Win7.

How many Ghiren's Greed games have been translated so far?

Attached: 51dY2ssuWXL._SY445_.jpg (260x445, 30K)

That looks like the new Origin model. I built Char's Red Comet the other day, and I'm pretty sure they're exactly the same to build, so be warned the tubing in the chest is kind of a bitch to put in. Other than that it's a pretty easy to put together.

Attached: 1557076819498.jpg (598x850, 78K)

Sound didn't work at all I think. It's been a while since I tried. I used the retail disc, but I saw that they released the game (including tribes and all the previous games) for free online. Maybe I'll try it with this version.

Got any reccommendations for good mecha games?

Euro Refugee Simulator

Last I checked literally none.

was hawken good? and MWO?

It's in SRW Z too

What an odd duck that game was.

Don't bother, the games on there are just iso files.
I'd try this website
starsiege1.proboards.com/thread/852/starsiege-download-full-install-mod
It even has a version that comes with community skins and mods for online play but you probably just want the original game with patches.

Sorry bro, had to check "Another Century's Episode Portable" because I thought it was in, but it was layzner and dragonar.

literal autism

What anime is this

dunbine I think

Escaflowne

Most genres were murdered by the call of duty trend which was really started by counter strike. Once those games took off all others faded into the distance including robots.

It's somewhat ironic that a war robot would take an insane amount of engineering to create, yet robot games are some of the laziest games ever. No physics involved, extremely simple terrains, no bullet variations. They're all stuck in the past.

it's Galient

Im sure some Macross fag is gonna have an autistic fit over seeing the word Robotech but this game was fucking sweet.

Escaflowne mecha is tight as fuck. Patrician taste, user.

mecha is a motif not a genre chucklefuck

What went wrong with Titanfall 1 and 2? Both of them seemed fun as fuck but quickly died down.

2 at least has a somewhat decent story mode.

Retarded marketing. Hopefully apexniggers will die out soon enough and Respawn can give us Tittyfall 3

On topic - what makes a mecha game great? I have only played Titanfall, which is admittedly only half a mecha game. What particular nuances would a potential mecha game developer should account for?

Genuine armchair general here

mechs just mimic real life animals
real life animals have limbs because they're adaptable to many situations and environments
legs are also evolved like springs and are insanely energy efficient (they don't beat wheels on a flat high friction road, but they do beat wheels basically anywhere else)

So this basically leaves you with what amounts to heavily armored infantry with the firepower and mobility of armored vehicles

You don't need them to be tanks and I don't understand why the autists/retards always argue "but a tank is better at"; mechs do not need to be armored bricks, they need to make the best of their advantage: Adaptability.

Mechs are impractical but ZOIDS are very practical!

The suspension system on a tank doesn't have enough travel to allow for full stabilization. The 'stabilized gun' thing is mostly a meme. In any real scenario you cannot fire on the move except at very slow speeds or extremely good terrain (like a road).

Actual combat speed in a tank is realistically closer to 20km/h than 80km/h

could be that it started as a construction hardware built to do some heavy work and the line of thought goes:
oh, they might be useful on the frontline, give them some armor for protection
oh, they might need easier access to places, give them mobility options
oh, also why not let the manipulators handle guns, too, self defense and all

shit

When a redesigned switch comes with the architecture necessary to stream data off a disc and datapacks installed to internal memory at the same time.

Either that or when it becomes financially feasible to rewrite most of the engine and go through the painstaking process of reworking the game's assets to work on a platform with severely reduced data streaming capabilities.

I lost.

Man I miss Cyberstorm so much.

Better than the poor Grand Prix clone they made next that inexplicably got popular.

not entirely sure what you mean.
cardridge seem to be perfoming on par with micro sd card, so we can assume about 60-80 mb/s read speed.
While Wii U had about 22 mb/s read speed, which resulted in problems if you didn't get databacks.
with increased read speed pop-up and such shouldn't be the problem when it comes to cardridge release.

X used both concurrently user, it read from the discs and those datapacks which here huge and inflated in size because of all the redundancy to help access speeds, the switch isn't capable of this feat so they'd have to change how the data streaming worked.

They are not huge and don't allow me to cleave huge evil.

Attached: 1546562570045.jpg (500x380, 87K)

I was just hoping New Gundam Breaker would gain a bit of a following in the west just to secure future western releases.

Same with Metal Max Xeno. After all those years we finally get a new Metal Max game in the west and then it's utterly mediocre, selling like shit.

It's just not fair, bros.

Well, trade out giant mechs for Ultraman and you can pretend White Knight Chronicles is an fantasy Ultraman game.
youtube.com/watch?v=EX7aDQ7mJ1k

If to believe google search, internal storage wasn't that much faster, about 30 mb/s?
Overall it puts it around at minimal speed of SD card, no?
Or you mean that what helped was loading data from two places at the same time?
It's pretty interesting point on why Switch porting is complicated, usually people refer just to dumb "no wii u gamepad" screen argument.

yes, best you can hope for from from is that one of the souls-likes they keep putting out when they've used up all the other obvious themes like Japan and Lovecraft they'll eventually do a Mech theme'd souls-like to appease their old AC fans. But really put yourself in their shoes, Souls and Souls-likes sell like hotcakes, meanwhile ACV sold well below any of the souls or souls-like games.

Realism has no place in video games, realism fags are a fucking cancer.

Yeah, that wise it sucks. I guess your only hope for western popularisation is now Hollywood movie which in works.
>Same with Metal Max Xeno
I was looking to get it eventually, sucks to hear everywhere about it mediocrity. Whole series looked like a blast before.
this user knows what's up

Attached: SRT-og.jpg (500x600, 141K)

Literally what is the difference between a mecha and a GTA character or Sonic? It's all just digital data, the only difference is the colors on screen.

Attached: 1552821905814.gif (320x212, 231K)

Nice, I would have bet on indefinite delays and never releasing. MW4 mercs is one of my favorite games ever.

user this shit doesn't work when you scale it up. A fucking elephant will break all its bones if you drop it only like 10 ft. Now imagine a mech trying to maintain stability.

Incorrect.

Power Armor - Any and all suits that amplify the attributes of the wearer. Movement and abilities are all dictated by the human range of motion.

Mech/a - Any and all legged vehicles where inputs are made via a control method similar to a tank or fighter jet. The pilot sits within a compartment and the mechanical limbs extend our from the core that houses them.

Attached: 1558127076350m.jpg (343x1024, 104K)

A mecha's frame is made of steel, an elephant's skeleton is made of milk.

Man I wish there was a 3D SRW game
>SRW OG: Infinite Battle
Goddamn monkey's paw. I miss the A.C.E. series.

But XCX also had digital version that didnt need the data packs because the game was already reading from micro sd. The disc streaming didnt matter.

>his mech isn't controlled entirely like a massive suit of armor

Attached: 1473542981935.gif (1100x947, 353K)

>muh fantasy

Fuck you, mechs are about engineering and thus should find smart solutions in-universe. Just dropping "realism"(logic, common sense) is a cheap copout and cheapens the genre.

You're defining what a mech is. Mecha is a genre.

X was a bit of an anomaly in this regard there weren't many (none that I know of actually) other games that used this specific quirk of the Wii U's architecture, usually it does come down to "no wii u gamepad" and the changes to the game that would need to happen to accommodate this and those varied game by game. I think most of the Wii U's low-hanging fruit has already made it's way to the switch, everything else that hasn't yet is something they've deemed more effort than it's probably worth, X sadly falls into that category. It could be done but would the money and manpower spent doing it be greater than the potential for profit on the switch and could that money and manpower be better spent on other projects? Monolith seems to think so, at least for now, maybe that math changes in the future but right now they don't seem interested in porting it.

Attached: 1530485836173.gif (1250x950, 398K)

>I miss the A.C.E. series.

But yeah, Infinite Battle was... questionable experience to say the least.
I liked it post factum, but it's clearly not a good game. Online basically doesn't work there too, I tried few years ago, it's a lagfest.
I wish Gundam VS just had guest mecha there, but again, no proper VS for us home console folks.

also.
RIP WinkySoft. You were too good for this world.

Attached: file.png (430x500, 489K)

Wrong, mechs are just giant robots that goes "pew pew pew", you're just making excuses over a toy, stop it.

other user - it's just type of how you control the mech.
better differentiation mecha/power armor would be existance of cockpit.
power armor doesn't have it cause you wear it. while mech have it, even on pics you provided

Nah, they should be cool.

Mechwarriors on SNES

Mecha is Japanese super robots.

Mechs are typically Western "realistic" robots.

Both have cockpits.

Wrong.
>Mecha was first used in Japanese (meka) after shortening the English loanword mechanical (mekanikaru), but the meaning in Japanese is more inclusive then, and "robot" (robotto) or "giant robot" is the narrower term.

Cyborgs, Androids, Power Suits, and Giant Robots are all different types of Mecha. If you were arguing Power Suits aren't Mechs you'd be on point as the English word is more specific than the Japanese.

Attached: data preserved.gif (316x231, 327K)

Yeah, overall reception of X wasn't the greatest. I can see why if there are some technical issues - they just won't bother with porting huge game and rebuilding online framework for it. I bet it just doesn't worth the time and resources.
So port wishing is more of a wishful thinking.
It's just such a shame. I doubt we'll get game similar to X period. It exists thanks to weird bunch of coincidences.
Wii U basically was a failure, so no game would safe it. Game was itself an experiment with working in HD. Monolith just was having a blast with it - implementing whatever ideas they want.

>Mechwarriors
Metalwarriors is the superior SNES game.

i got this for $15 in like 2004 and still felt ripped off, how come people like it?

Dude I wanted this game SO BAD as a kid and never found it for sale because it was like a gundam game so it was kinda rare. I got it on Ebay a year ago and was so excited to play and found it it's actually a trash game.

Also the mission where you gotta "recon" Whitebase and get one-shot fucked anally by the Gundam is the dumbest fucking mission in any game ever made.

Pic related. Now THAT'S a good Gundam game. Seriously good, very grounded and challenging but not impossible or ridiculously arcade-y or anything. It's like Steel Battalion-lite.

Speaking of Steel Battalion, I dug that out a month or two and beat the campaign for the first time. That game is still sick as fuck.

I played Terra Nova, I remember doing a lot of jump jetting around on big open maps I do recall liking it but this was like when I was 12 so who knows now that more than two decades have passed since then, but I fail to see how it was anything like Guyver, I mean did you even have elbow blades, I don't remember any.

Too fucking ugly, no thanks

Great sub80 IQ post

Rise from the Ashes put me to sleep and I have no idea why anyone likes it. The Blue Destiny games for the Saturn were a better version of the same thing.

A lot of pre-4 fags are really stuck in the mindset that nothing surpassed LR.
I don't know if they were loud enough for Miyazaki to be affected by that though.

yikes, if it was already found in the demo it will probably be a common bug if not fixed.

What happened to Iron Harvest?
Heard it was shit or something

I actually think the best mecha balances both, it gives enough bullshit explanations and made up sci-fi physics to explain why they work but they don't get bogged down in every minor detail of how they're doing that cool spin kick or whatever.

In-universe plausibility and consistency is all I really need to be onboard.

based on threads when the demo came out, the problems have been reported - whether they actually can or will fix it only time will tell

But they all play very differently
Certain agravs play like a bullet hell (rope kid comes to mind)
I kind of wish the game was just a tiny bit faster, the slowest mechs kind of take a while to get across a level. I guess that's by design. But the game is fucking good. Really good. Not just the campaign mode but especially freelance. IMHO even though the presentation is bad and most morons will think it's just your average twinstick, they're wrong. It's a dark overlooked masterpiece. Also it's one of the few cases where the soundtrack makes the game better, AND the game makes the soundtrack better. Anyway once you start using mortars or cannon weapons that require leading your target or perfect arcs, you'll see and appreciate all the little details that go into this game. A half-Touro sized wall is something you can hide behind in a mongoose, for example.
shattered steel!
hawken was ok, then it got shut down, then brought back, then cash grabbed and P2W'd, and then shut down again.
MWO was amazing, then beta ended. Launch was shit. Its been 7 years but the game is mostly playable now. it isn't good by any stretch of the imagination, just go back to playing MW:LL (the crysis warhead mod), because it's the best mechwarrior game to ever exist. Also you can steal other player's mechs, like in G-Nome.
Anyway MWO is more accessible now its basically world of tanks with mechs but it isn't a good game let alone a good mechwarrior game but it's probably about as close as it can get. You can pilot a timber wolf around and shoot lasers into people so...
Damn I miss heavy gear.
probably mechwarrior 2
Much as this game IS about giant fighting robots I don't think that counts user. I mean an RTS is an RTS. Though it is the God of RTS.

The PS2 might've been peak stylization for games.
The 7th gen could upped it even more, but devs were too focused on bland color palettes and photorealism

You can X-Link Kai it now and there are groups that play every weekend and during the weekday too. Is it worth $400? Only if you plan to play it a lot or if you're a collector. That's a ton of money. It was like $100-ish when I got it back in the day.

The game was dope and honestly worth every penny. The permadeath was a real nice touch, had to be fast on that eject. Those are the only "whiny pacifist teen" MCs in Gundam
Everyone else is either a soldier or someone who just gets used to war and deals with it till it's over.
Have you actually watched these series or are you spouting what you've heard?

Why isn't Amuro on your list? That kid a total pussy.

You didn't watch 0079 then

Judau is the best tho

That's the way things are now.

Attached: ded.jpg (695x258, 90K)

I like him, he's a fun guy and not like the other pacifists.
His whole "fuck adults" attitude got old though

Monolith's next game, just you wait.

Zeon did nothing wrong.

Play front mission gun hazard if you want more cybernator like game, also metal warriors

It looks so slow though. Is it worth it?

>Amuro
>Pussy

He's a 15 year old kid that got volunteered to fight on the front lines of a war where millions died.
Got dropped through the atmosphere and had to figure out how to land without cooking himself.
Some psycho commander on the enemy's side became obsessed with trying to kill him.
His dad goes mentally insane form oxygen deprivation.
kills some girl and sees what is the equivalent of a super bad drug trip while in mid-combat.
Yet he's still fine taking people's lives and hearing their screams over open comm lines until the end of the war.
Amuro's far from a pussy and had way more development and relatability than any of those characters.
It's why his archetype became so popular in the first place.
If anyone deserves to shed a tear it's him.

Just compare that to an average underaged 15 year old on Yea Forums who's biggest worry is ">tfw no gf"

> Basically annihilated the Earth space fleet in a single decisive battle
> Dropped colony on Earth, flooding the coasts, changing the climate, putting a hole in Australia and killing millions, causing world-wide starvation and mass migration.

They literally won. There is no reason the Federation should or could've won beside "muh ""good"' guys gotta win"

That "Zeon is exhausted" speech was dumb. Nigger they dropped a FUCKING city on Australia.

The only reason Zeon are considered war criminals is because they lost.

>That "Zeon is exhausted" speech was dumb. Nigger they dropped a FUCKING city on Australia.
You don't get the sense of it in the anime, but there are a LOT of colonies in space around earth.
The "Sides" are colony clusters, each containing somewhere up to 40 or so space colonies.
So Zeon being able to get one colony to fall isn't too unbelievable, even their remnants were able to do it in 0083, and more colony drops happen throughout the series.
It's a relatively easy thing to pull off, but most people don't have the lack of morals to do it so it only happened a handful of times.

Federation Shill fuck off

Attached: 0ea82c9b42ab5368a2ade8b38c4bd142.png (1029x974, 1.05M)

Even with the loses the Feds came back with enough resources and manpower to push the Zeons back in the span of a year.

Attached: Battle of A Baoa Qu.webm (960x720, 2.35M)

Don't you ever get tired of idolizing the losers?

I just feel like they really downplay the colony drop in the anime and let the Earth forces recover too quickly. So quickly they curb stomp Zeon within a year even though their economy should be in absolute anarchy.

Like, if you look at what that colony did to the Earth and how quickly Zeon took over North America, Asia and most of Europe I don't really think the Federation should've been able to crank out space battleships by the dozen. Their industrial base should've been crippled. Magic-African-Secret-Base or not.

>unironically posting trio which created Jet Stream Attack combo which never succeeded and gave birth to countless jokes in other media

>I just feel like they really downplay the colony drop in the anime and let the Earth forces recover too quickly
Remember what I said about sides earlier?
The Earth Federation Military is split into the EF and the EFSF(Earth Federation Space Forces) which is stationed all over the Sides
The colony drop fucked up their earth-based shit which is why Zeon was able to infiltrate and invade earth and get to Jaburo, but the EFSF was still stationed in other colonies and the moon.
And Anaheim is on the moon, and that's where a lot of MS development and manufacturing was handled at the time.

0079 Only shows us what the White Base is up to, so we don't get the big picture.
We only saw a small slice of the OYW.

No one cares about it, and that is really sad

Are there any (relatively high budget) mecha developers besides Monolith?

I lost my interest when it turned out to be just an adventure game

that's it

that bottom design is pants on head retarded

blue is literally "ok we googled Japanese mecha and this totally is similar".
Green is still shit regardless what it looks like.
They were designing characters first, mecha second. If you remove mechanical aspect - majority of those designs will work anyway as giant creatures.

Really ?

Damn I really need to watch Galient it looks dope as fuck

Find me a tank game with the customization of Armored Core or Mech Warrior.

don't bother
tank fags shit in mecha threads cause tank games are dead since PS1

Daemon X Machina and Project Nimbus are okay, got that nice high speed combat. Limited customization on Daemon, None on Project. But Project has no hype combat music sadly. What's your thoughts user?

Why is that zaku blue?

That's Japanese mecha. Western mecha is tanks with legs. They're coming to a similar conclusion from different angles, and thus are designed and control differently.

But I still demand some robotic elements on the character's design. You can't just make a girl and call it a robot like android 18

My favorite Mecha games are Battleclash and Metal Combat, and I'm still sad Nintendo hasn't rebooted the series. Daemon X Machina might be okay, but won't be anywhere near as good.

Have you played MWO? Have you seen the clusterfuck that is "development" of MWO?
These people are fundamentally incompetent at game design. They couldn't even come up with entertaining game mode in more than FIVE years.
And from technical point of view the game is absolute disaster but this might be due to CryEngine being a meme.
Their concept artist is the only person that knows what he's doing.

spaceships shaped like atmospheric craft (e.g. airplanes) make much less sense than humanoid shaped craft, when you are using them in outer space. There is no atmospheric drag for one thing, so shape is irrelevant. Furthermore, having thrusters on the legs provides a very large gimbal range and mitigates the need for RCS thrusters. The arms have 360 degree firing arcs as well so the position of the body relative to the enemy doesn't matter the way it would with, for example, an X-wing.

tl;dr humanoid shape makes sense in space

They may be the best, but none of them are bad. Robots are always cool and people should just accept it as a fact desu

It really didn't look cool since first gameplay videos.
It's quite a shame and tragic story honestly.
NGB was made by Crafts'n'Meiser which usually give Gundam Breaker series to be done by Ilinx subcontractor.
While NGB was in development - Square for some reason hired Ilinx to make a fucking MGS wanna be with Front Mission franchise and gave them few huge names to work with.
Ilinx who hardly did anything of note but Gundam Breaker, which is just arcade brawler, now had to do serious survival TPS something they never tried before and fucked up.
So we got TWO bad mecha games instead of possibly two decent ones.
If Crafts'n'Meiser gave as usual GB to be done by Ilinx, so Square would've give Left Alive contract to someone else

This thread is too good for this wretched board

Akira Toriyama can't into robots

DXM friends, go check Target's website.

A mech that moves clunkily doesn't make sense, true, but something like Elemental power armor in the battletech universe makes quite a bit of sense. Not too large, can go basically anywhere infantry can go, makes an infantryman more powerful and much better protected.

At least in battletech, mechs aren't truly front line fighters. They're meant to be dropped from orbit behind enemy lines or in overwhelming force assaults on small sections of a front line in order to force a gap open. They're useful in those roles as powerful, mobile and well protected assault machines. They're also useful because it takes only one person to pilot one and they can be used in virtually all environments a human might live in. When you're talking about a universe in which humans live on thousands of planets, mechs that can be deployed from orbit and then picked up again rapidly are a pretty good idea.

I still own my complete big box copy of Starsiege. I am still seething that they killed the mech aspect (or should I say HERC aspect hurr durr) of that universe. Also the fact that Starsiege 2845 was canned is a fucking travesty.

Is AEUG vs Titans any different from Gundam vs Zeta Gundam and Federation vs Zeon?

I do too. So far in the community AMAs it's seemed like its going to be very meh. There's not really any way to have any influence on the universe and the gameplay loop is just a copy of HBS battletech.
>take randomly generated mission
>negotiate salvage and payment
>do mission
>get salvage and payment
Rinse, repeat, retarded. The difference between Battletech and this, though, is that they're sticking to how mechs work in the lore. You can't completely change the weapon loadout of a mech like you can in MWO or Battletech, all you can do is switch out different versions of the same weapon. If you salvage a better AC20 you can replace your stock AC20 with it, but you can't remove the AC20 and replace it with an LBX10 and some heatsinks or something. It's true to the lore but it doesn't sound super fun for a game. We'll see though.

The worst thing about the game that I can tell is there is no real interaction with the universe you can affect. There's going to be a news ticker but thats pretty much it. You'll get 10 story missions related to what happens in the lore too. But they've heavily implied you will be able to fight clanners at the end of the game, so that might be a fun end game event.

MW4:BN and MW4:M are quite fun if old
