It depends on if you like story-locked content and cutscenes, OP. Right now FFXIV is pretty slow to start, due to the fact that a lot of classes don't get most of their fun abilities until 50 or 60. There is a free trial up until level 35, which should get you to around Titan, and it stays free so if you want to level other classes to 35 or do crafting/gathering. If you like it, get it. If you don't, no money wasted.

I finally have DRK, my first tank, at lv70. Now if only I could decide on a nice glam for it. I like both, but I tend to prefer my glows not as ridiculous for the most part. If they're going to be ridiculous though, then something like the Heavensward anima weapons are what I like.

That's more or less what I'd hope it to be, except more like build-your-ability than mudras. Like first you pick an element from fire/water/earth/air, and that determines the basic function of damage/healing/buff/debuff. Then you select a metal in the progression from lead to gold that determines the nature of the base effect, and finally one more thing(astral/umbral? anima/animus?) to select for AoE or single-target. And after all that, the job's ability meter is a potion belt with however many slots where you stock what you just mixed and then can toss them as needed.

Finished the media tour day and just got back to my hotel room. I played most jobs at the event but focused mostly on Tanks, in particular Warrior: my main.

The job is actually getting some pretty badass actions and abilities in the expansion but has some really questionable design choices. Most notable was Inner Release gets an upgraded talent at 76 that increases the potency of each attack you do by 25, stacking up to a maximum of 150. This way each Fell Cleave you do, as well as Upheaval and Onslaught, get stronger and stronger throughout the buff, letting you hit some truly fucking insane numbers by the end. I was hitting my Fell Cleaves for almost 80k damage at the end of it and that was just in starter AF gear. Downside though is that after the buff ends, you get a Pacify on your weaponskills for 8 fucking seconds and just stand there like a retard. The tooltip said 10 seconds though so maybe they are still tweaking the numbers. It feels amazing to Inner Release and spam Fell Cleave, but really, really bad after it ends.

They are also changing Thrill of Battle to be one of those two-in-one abilities. When you are in Defiance, it is Thrill of Battle and works the way we all know. When you are in Deliverance it is changed to Warcry and turns into an AoE damage buff for your teammates, giving them a 5% damage increase for 10 seconds. The ability had a really fucking cool animation and sound, red energy shoots out from around you and it just looked great.

Level 80 ability was called Obliterate. It was a pretty simple OGCD damage ability with a 2 minute recast. It costed no Beast Gauge, had a 350 base potency, but also increased in potency depending on how much Beast Gauge you had currently. So you want to use it at max Gauge for more damage. It didn't say it ignored Defiance potency decrease, but it had a enmity modifier on it when used in Defiance. I think this was to solidify Warrior as an MT job.

The leak about Assize not doing damage is true but everything else in that batch of leaks was fake so it must've just been a coincidence since Sole Survivor and Trick Attack are both staying the same. WHM get a new stone attack to use with Stone 4 and Aero abilities that surrounds them with these stalactite that automatically shoot at your target. They refill over time and with certain uses of other skills and lilies. That butterfly ability you saw in that sneak peek screenshot was the WHM level 80 ability. It is a big AOE heal HoT and slight damage buff (3%) that stays with your teammates permanently until they take a certain amount of damage. You'll want to use it probably after big raidwide AoEs to keep it up for as long as possible. Someone near me said that stone and broil now had the same cast time as malefic though which I'm guessing was a big change for them."
