The job starts with around 21 spells but gets a bunch through leveling, totally around 32. The job guage works kinda like MNK, you gain stacks through using spells and Criting. As you gain them you get an increase to potency to your aoe buffs. You want to gain as many stacks as you can until you have all your CDs on cool down and them spend them on your burst phase. It's very interesting, kinda feels like brd a lot.

The only serious mishandling I can remember was the tone Midgardsomr took with you in ARR. In the japanese translation, he took away your echo as a test to see if you are strong enough to survive without it, while the english translation he did it out spite or something.

He found out that WoL defeating Elezons cause the Calamity of both the 1st and Source world, so he sent his consciousness back in time to his sleeping self. Weakened, he had to steal the souls of the scions to prevent WoL from committing to fight the Empire. Early in ShB, we'll find the beacon to unlock CT and from there G'raha will teleport to the 1st where he miscalculated and ended up a few years into its passed which explains why the CT was there for years and how a society formed around it. Also, we'll bump into the young WoD as they begin their journey, kinda like Edda and her crew.

I experienced both ends with Orbonne. First run, had an alliance that got pissy and left on the second boss after like 2 wipes, then that alliance sorta fell apart.
The second time, we got through just fine and even did Thundergod in only like 3 attempts, and did Ultima phase 2 in two attempts. That was a lot of fun.

Personally, I enjoyed omegascape more than alexander overall in terms of the fights, if not in terms of story. I won't argue that Omega's storyline was just a cheap excuse to fight old bosses (though the segment between the last two fights made me feel bad).

But yeah, I felt Omegascape's battles were overall more memorable than Alexander's, even if I'd say that Alexander's best were better than Omegascape's.

Pyros has new armor sets that you get for crystals dropped from NMs, but you have to get 50 unique logos actions (you only need 30 to complete the pyros weapon, unless you are ready for the grind, I recommend just learning how making logos actions works then buy all the logograms you need).
Then in Hydatos, you can upgrade the pyros armor once you collect the last 6 logos actions. You don't need more logos actions for the weapons though, just the initial 30.

The Doman rebellion happened at least two months before Yugiri arrived in Eorzea. There's more than enough time in those two months for 2.0 to take place. So no, it hasn't been a year yet according to word of god. But we have to be approaching it because each boat ride in SB is two months and we've had three of those canonically.

Even with out superpowers we simply could not travel that much and do that much that quickly even if we were just showing up and flicking our wrists at everything. It doesn't feel right at all.

I feel like they could at least give some definite timeline aspects. They already have stated that all content canonically happened when it was current, so you have lvl50 DRGs worrying about the dragonsong war even if they are in SB, and lvl 50 Culnarians making food for Nanamo even though she might currently be in a coma in their game.

It's story management butting up against business management. You don't want to do writing that excludes new players because you'll attract less of them. There's little in the story that interferes with pretending time rolls normally, anyway.

There's tens of times in the MSQ that the WoL is told to wait for further development in a situation, to cover the metagame gap between patches. The most recent one between 4.4 and 4.5, for example. These are written to be gaps of weeks or months.

It's just like any other fucking Final Fantasy game where it's chock-full of self references and crossovers, agitated by XIV being seven years old and based on continuous content in the form of expansions.
