Like it gives you a hand and checks if you go for the most likely yakus and most valuable hands.

If you have most of 1 suit than any other suit, hoard that suit and go for a half or full flush.

Otherwise go for a tanyao.

If you're F2P it doesn't really matter, you're probably never going to get anything of value. Of the rewards on offer the copper is the most useful for playing in higher ranked rooms, which can potentially get you all kinds of random crap from chests. The spheres have almost no use whatsoever, they're just ingredients in the final transformation thing that gets you a character's alternate costume, but you need a bunch of specific ones and you need to already be at max bond to do that.

Or just jump in. It's pretty easy to figure out after playing a few hands. You build sets of tiles that are either sequences, pairs, or triplets by drawing a tile and discarding a tile each turn.

Given that you need to complete at least one fucking hand to win a hanchan, the game is something like 1/3 luck, 2/3 skill.

There are probably some beastly players but they would be underground because official mahjong tries to de-emphasize the gambling aspect.

Yeah, but I didn't go full riichi mahjong. We just played 3ofs and sequences. Anything else would be too daunting the first time and they'll likely be discouraged. I would've gone with riichi our next session but they insist on playing MtG for the millionth time.

The dead wall is always 14 tiles, so when you kan and take the rinshan tile, the last tile in the live wall is absorbed into the dead wall to makeup the difference.

what I meant is that the red 5 should be worth 3 dora
dora for being a red five
and 2 more dora because it's the uradora and a red tile so it should count as 2 uradora

The 30+ yaku combined with the scoring system and tile efficiency is way too overwhelming for beginners. It leads a lot of them to use calculators, but it can be pretty tedious to input every tile. I'm building an automatic image based one right now to expedite the process of score calculation.
