>Graphics improved Great stuff, the game looks better than ever >Story mode enhanced The comic cutscenes are a welcome addition >Online aspect modernized Took them a while to get it right, but now 1v1 runs great and the ladder system works >AI still is the same old shit Why? Where I am I supposed to train?
How this game can welcome newcomers and help noobs without starter tools to learn to be competitive online? Do they really need to depend on the help of other people in order to get by? AI should have been modernized as well and there should be a map pack from blizzard as a tutorial. Yea I get the fact there are guides/help to find online, but thats not an excuse. Look how capcom brought SF 3dstrike on ps3. It had a full tutorial system for everything. Training should be fun, not a fucking chore
>Why? Where I am I supposed to train? ladder? and bgh
Jackson Cook
>competitive If you're getting Starcraft or Warcraft 3, it's for the custom maps and online fun, not esport shit.
Jaxson Gutierrez
>ladder I get stomped all the time by people way ahead of my skill and watching replays didnt work. >bgh Im not familliar to custom maps, but isnt bgh a tower defence map? Its just for fun, not training
Robert Davis
Yea I get the fact that I can never reach esport lvl skill and Im not delusional about that. But I like some good fair competition since broodwar is a very intense online game with gameplay unlike anything else. The problem is that the same old fags lurk the servers 24/7 ready to beat the shit of anyone else
Nathaniel Gray
bgh = big game hunter, 3v3 or 4v4. Semi casual team based melee. Look up guides on teamliquid. I'd personally want to get into brood war but i just dont have the time anymore (being a boomer sucks).
Charles Gonzalez
Just give me the tools to catch up with the oldfags. AI is essential for this game. In sc2 helped me to reach gold because its fucking well made, responsive and its fun to play against it. Too bad sc2 is shit
Wyatt Diaz
>training >against ai r u a fuckin dunce? nobody plays against ai, even literal scrubs, what the fuck. > isnt bgh a tower defence map? ok nevermind, just play against ai, it's on your level
Bentley James
>bgh >a tower defence map it's closer to Campgrounds(DM6) of Quake 3 fame, a popular FFA/big teams map which everyone knows and no-one cares that some spawn points are better than others.
Oliver Jenkins
Yea I know the map mate. Its just that Im interested in the ranked only. As a fellow 30 yo boomer, my time is limited. I would like to learn how play online, but at my own pace though
Nathaniel Morales
>train train what? build orders? micromanagement? applying strategies? just play against real people, watch your replays and ask your opponents for advice.
John Lopez
There are tons of custom AIs tho
Jayden Martinez
People go to training but not to play against the ai, but to test build and timings. They dont play against the ai, because the ai is garbage. If the ai was good pleople(mostly the starters and the noobs) would play to get better and more newcomers would join and stay
Gabriel Lee
you get used to it. You'll learn while you lose. god tier game
Ehm, everything? Ai is all about simulating a online battle. Thats what I want. To try something multiple times under pressure(a good ai is fine) I tried with training buddies back when I was giving a shit, but I dont have standard time schedule in order to meet and play with them, and eventually I stopped looking for help from people. I do ask stuff online though
Dylan Scott
I bought it with Blizzbucks, played the campaign, was amazed at how easy it is except a few of the last Zerg missions (especially last one). But the pathing was driving me crazy, especially hydralisks and dragoons. 10 minutes to get a few packs down a ramp.
Joshua Wood
I am ok with the "losing equals learning", but losing 20matches in a row and get a win because the guy was either uber noob or afk is just bad. Remember that the skill gap is fucking large
Liam Brooks
Yea mechanically the game is hell and these shit is the real final boss of broodwar. Even pros have issues dealing with that stuff. Im not going to be one of the newfags that cries and asks blizzard to fix them. These mechanical limitations are what makes the game fun to watch(but a hell to play). Broodwar should always be played like it was back in the golden days
Camden Miller
>everything define "everything". training with AI is by definition stupid because AI are artificial and incomplete. an AI will never analyse your play and go to game 2 choosing a map that disfavors your playstyle, for example. BGH team vs team fights are good to train "everything" because not only you get to do that "everything", you also use the "everything" as you'd use tools to solve practical problems. also helps to watch replays and see your opponent's actions, see what they do and, if it's highly technical, ask on the forums or in chat a question on how to do it. this may be 2019, not 1999, but the game is still as old-school as games ever get.
Blake Taylor
Custom AIs dont work with the remastered version, and the majority of them are mostly a statistics calculator. The gameplay improvements are few. They are mostly meant for you to keep notes of what you did wrong and they are a pain in the ass to run them. In the far future, the devs plan a BWAPI support on the remastered
Christopher Perry
I just want a comfy simulation of a battle to play alone when I have the time and save/load in order to fix my mistakes. I dont care to reach s rank or the ai to have a s rank skill. I want something like the sc2 ai in bw ai. It worked for me in sc2 and it baffles me that they havent upgraded the ai here as well. I thought it was a given
Jackson Russell
Im totally fine with a c-level skilled AI. A noob can learn and then train when he reaches c+
Ryder Ortiz
sc2 also fixed pathfinding, while bw remastered did not. coincidence? i think not. if you want a game that's comfy to play singleplayer, play a different franchise of RTS entirely. then use c-level AI. or are you saying that there are no c-level AI at all in either version of brood war?
Landon Taylor
What are you talking about? I already said that Im fine with the outdated mechanics and If the supposedly "new bw ai" could exploit the mechanics in order to give me a better experience, so be it. Where tf is a c level ai man? The custom AIs are not a good opponent but they are good on giving you a shitton of info. There is no competitive(or even a c-level) ai for bw. Enjoy your statistics bro
watch korean pro's that stream. Larva and JAedong have their own first-person VODs online.
Samuel Young
Explain me then why did capcom went an extra effort an put all these shit in their re-release. Are they fucking idiots? Isnt parry mode just pressing the forward button at the right time? The player can just go online an parry the shit out of it, right?
in the beginning you will lose, that's normal. watch your replays and copy the build orders of the people you lost against.
get familiar with the units and how to control them. basically just learn how to group them and use shortcuts to produce them.
play and have fun. everything will come with experience.
starcraft broodwar is all about experience.
Hudson Flores
Yeah man I do watch them, but I can really play like them to understand their moves to the fullest, but thats not my point. Im asking if you think that broodwar could benefit if they have added an improved ai within the remastered release. Thats all
Adam Perez
>play online, play bgh games (big game hunters). I do play online every once a week. I will try bgh since you are so persistent
>In the beginning you will lose, that's normal. watch your replays and copy the build orders of the people you lost against. I lose a lot to the point its just not fun to play anymore. I do watch replays and try build orders. Its fucking boring though and if I want to do it properly, I need to keep notes like artosis does, but I think this is getting too far.
>get familiar with the units and how to control them. basically just learn how to group them and use shortcuts to produce them. I am familiar with the units, I can control/hotkey them to an extent, but I cant do that under pressure very well. Thats why I need ai. To get comfortable with that thing.
>play and have fun. everything will come with experience. I guess so, but I stopped having that much of a fun after the noobs and the newcomers left the game.I rarely get an opponent at my size these days. I do appreciate the players out there that want to train people.
>starcraft broodwar is all about experience. An experience that I wasnt there at the right time to aquire, and it will take a good decade for me to reach good level and by then I would be a 40 yo oldfag with arthritis.
Daniel Hughes
Does this even work on ultrawide? Im talking about brood war classic or whatever blizzard calling it now, i haven't played starcaft in ages
William Cooper
what do you mean? About the 4k zoom out? The gameplay camera distance its the same. If you have the remastered edition, it removes the black borders from sideways, that the original or f2p version has. You can only zoom out like in the trailer only in the replays that you watch(I do that a lot, it helps sometimes) or when you are a spectator(im not sure about this one tho)
