You can beat it with an insane amount of trial and error, but unless you're a kid who has only this game to play, you most likely won't have the patience. The game doesn't explain nearly enough about the mechanics, and you won't figure out the Digivolution requirements on your own. But going into this game blind is a cool experience nontheless.
Why did they think this was a good idea? You need a guide to get the things you want and even then its still really easy to fuck up
i finished the first time without strategy
and i sued the strategy guide to get the evolution i wanted.
FUck off OP, you are not cool for knowing that you need 50 weight to get a metalgreymon out of nothing, or that you need 3000 3000 500 500 to get X digimon
my digimon kept dying because I thought they were thirsty.
It took me 3 months to realize they needed to see that centaur guy at the clinic
>need 50 weight
You don't, not necessarily. There are so many things early guides got wrong, it's actually insane. It wasn't until the last few years that people have figured out the mechanics properly.
Well, that shit you can read up in the manual. That doesn't require a proper guide.
its an example of what bullshit digimon world hides from you. Pretty much Raw numbers, not even ideas.
It's not a specific number, it's a range. If the exact weight requirement is 30, then you can be between 25 to 35 to meet the requirement. It's still not obvious that you have to have high weight, but it's not as much bullshit as most originally thought.
>That PAL version
Ive never felt so scammed in my life
why haven't they been able to make a game as good since?
I have such a love-hate relationship with this game. I fucking hate how obscure and obtuse everything is but it made for such a unique experience. No other game is a more fertile ground for playground stories and rumors.
And the fucking sound effects are permanently ingrained in my mind and haunt me 20 years later.
>he didn't read up obscure german forums where people figured out the workaround
My childhood wasn't ruined.
I love this game. 100% it every few years.
definitively the best monster raising game out there.
Digimon World has a fanbase NOW, but I doubt tons of people were as on board with it when it came out. They changed the formula immediately after it came out, so that was a sign that it wasn't as popular as they hoped.
They're going back to it nowadays, but the artwork and ideas behind it seem to be different from my ignorant point of view. I'll admit I prefer DW1's anime to re: Digitize and Next Order.
what's wrong with it?
A small scripting error made basically 50% of the game inaccessible. You can get around it, but if you're a young kid on your own, you'll never figure out how.
What's wrong with the PAL version?
Softlocks really easily
The newest Digimon World might lack soul but I really liked how you unlocked information on what the stat requirements were if you were doing a good job raising your digimon.
I just wish the world itself wasn't so shit compared to the original.
ah naruhodo
post good digis
100% as in you beat Digitamamon and the Ghost Machinedramon right?
Halfawys through the game you have to storm Ogremon's fortress to continue the story ,in the entrance theres an Agumon you have to talk to in order to enter.
The PAL version managed to fuck up and bug out the game, making impossible to interact with said Agumon, causing you to be unable to continue except with some really obscure tricks
*crack*
*sip*
Now that was a game.
For some it was Zelda, but for me this game brought a real sense of adventure and mystery. The schoolyard rumors about how to get a certain digimon were running rampant and everyone would get stuck at one point or another. It was a group effort of mystery solving and for me that kind of experience has never been replicated again.
>Wow, Metalgreymon and Metalmamemon!
>That Fucking Kid explaining how he unlocked Wargreymon.
I remember renting this game when it came out, and all I remember was the digimon taking shits everywhere.
because they started making better games.
Fuck off Zoomer, this is a Boomer thread. No place for why-foos.
It replicates the V-Pet experience perfectly in that your Digimon is an incontinent little dumbfuck and you have to clean up all their poop. Meanwhile in the anime you have them fully sapient and clearly more intelligent than your gurgling retard.
Funny how that works.
i actually like not knowing what i'll end up with...if only numemon wasn't a thing
Digimon is zoomer repellent by nature. It's a series that they don't understand and immediately brush off as a ripoff of Pokemon.
All Digimon discussion is welcome here because only smart people discuss Digimon.
Thoughts on Next Order?
Really makes me miss when things were spread by word of mouth and trial and error rather than datamining everything on day 1.
Although fuck That Kid.
Why does Digimon World 2 not get any love?
Also it seemed like to me 3 was decent as well.
they had to fuck it up with the dual digimon thing
The ENG translation is atrocious. When I was an ESL little kid I didn't even notice it, but as an adult it's impossible to look over.
Holy shit. This ruined a playthrough on an emulator that I was doing like 8 years ago.
I thought it was the emulator. That's interesting.
Also, stop fucking making threads about this game. I'm trying to forget it exists so I can play other old games. This is my favorite PS1 game of all time.
The fact it gets progressively worse the deeper you get is hilarious. They really didn't expect people to even see it.
It's ok, but it lacks the charm of the first game.
They really are Google Translate tier. Most of the dialogue barely makes any sense.
Wait I had PAL version nearly for sure and I played the shit out of it no problem. What are you talking about?
zoomers are too young to have heard of digimon, based retard.
It wasn't all PAL versions iirc. Which is weird.
>a strategy guide
>a
I beat that game with fucking three guides open
>he likes having his time wasted
I don't understand, is this bait? There's no problem with saying "a strategy guide".
He's saying he used multiple instead of one.
I had an English PAL version so maybe it was to do with the translation?
I can only say that the German version was affected, don't know about other languages. PAL isn't PAL.
Speaking of that, the German version was even more fucked because they accidently messed up inserting some dialogue and replaced the German word for "soon" or "again" with "bounus" across all lines in the game. As a kid, I thought was some strange Digimon language thing. Weird shit.
do you guys use mednafen or pcsxr-pgxp? no other answers
why does this game have so much interesting trivia?
I think he's trying to say the game's so obtuse at times that he had to have three different guides open at once to figure out what the hell to do. The game's poorly translated, as stated by , and , so on top of the other things it probably got too confusing to bear.
I get that Yea Forums violently jerks it to unplayable, buggy messes because they're "inaccessible to normies" but sometimes I wonder if that's a brand of retardation all its' own.
If you played a digimon video game or watched the cartoons you're a fucking pleb.
>Whas that analogman's curse?
>I dont care
if it makes you feel better, north america had the entire postgame removed from our version of digimon world 3 for no reason.
It's possible to use "a" strategy guide to only be using one guide. It's only "the" strategy guide if there are no others in existence.
shut up, faggot. who cares. do that shit in another thread.
I googled it and this came up from a glitch thread on Resetera.
>I think the Agumon bug only happens in a few European versions, not all. It happens for sure in the German version because they simply forgot to assign a text to Agumon during translation so the text box doesn't get triggered.
>The English version is fine btw.
Anyways it's a damn shame that neither of the two proper Digimon World sequels managed to replicate the first game. The PS was ass, and the actual sequal on the Vita/PS4 had some insane balancing issues and bad design decisions, but was still better than the PSP one.
>they simply forgot to assign a text to Agumon during translation
Not really true, because the line for Agumon was actually translated and is in the files. Some dude actually managed to patch the German version on emulator and making the dialogue trigger properly. There were some fucking retards in charge of the localization.
Where the FUCK is the Survive news?
It was the same in the French version.
they said a few weeks ago that survive news is coming this summer.
Maybe we'll hear some shit at E3, who fuckin' knows at this point
yes. Also, finish the digivolution chart and medals (except fishing)
Impeccable taste.
Where's that poor Agu's thumbs? He can't grip anything like that!
>fight Mamemon to get the rare Full Upgrade tech before my mech mon dies
>battle after battle I don't learn his move (it's random chance)
>keep resetting and loading autistically
>finally get it
>get the stat stack overflow glitch and my game freezes
>just get the 'Fu' displayed instead of 'Full Upgrade Learned'
fuck this game. The NA version is broken to shit. PAL is the better option barring the German release.
Also fuck Muchomon and fuck the shop quest.
>don't see it at first
>go back to Agumon's original art
>it has thumbs
Oh my fucking god I can never unsee it now. The 2006/Savers/Datasquad version of Agumon also lacks thumbs, which only makes this more baffling to me. Who stole the thumbs of an entire collective species?
>the item box in Mt.Infinity that freezes your game
>Who stole the thumbs of an entire collective species?
unironically, digimon world 1. agumon's model in that game removed the thumbs, and they never came back.
So who's the best digimon in the game?
Didn't Agumon in Adventure also have no thumbs?
You're right.
This is still a really weird thing to just finally realize though.
I got stuck as a kid and sold the game
Hey kid, you got medicine?
The game mechanics were cryptic, but you're right, Digimon World truly felt like an adventure. The fact the city was the only true safe place and you were free to explore the island as you saw fit really made you fell like you were alone on this island.
Is Last Order better than Digitize? I always wanted to play Digitize but there's not translation for the "complete" 3DS version.
Needs more edgemons
There's actually a lot of really fuckin cool, high quality Digimon fanart out there. It's nice.
i'm gonna start another playthrough and keep this thread open. gonna start with gabumon for once.
I'm tempted to start the game as well, probably via emulation because I'm a sack of shit. Plus it might be fun to see how jarring/weird old Digimon media is in comparison to how it is now.
>start with Gabumon
Shit nigger, you never go full retard.
The PSVita version is insanely easy. Like, beat the entire game with your first generation easy if you have any common sense and urgency.
From what I read, the PS4 version went the complete other direction, like you need ultimate mons just power through the beginning, which is still better than beating the entire game with your first set but not ideal. I would not recommend the Vita edition.
Training is near useless and you get much better return on time/stamina investment by grinding specific mons. For me it was a Weregarurumon in a church which gave great stats. This is more tedious than the training because there will be one monster at each point that gives these great returns and you just have to keep grinding that same mon.
Digitize I played on PSP emulated and it sucked the big dick. As opposed to the PS1 game it felt like a fight was decided before the encounter even occured, you either won handily or you lost and the actual battle was just a formality. The fights in the first game felt very organic with the way interruptions and such worked. Next order stands somewhere in between.
What new digimon games are there that are worth to play?
I played digimon dawn/dusk on emulator (i think the game is better than most pokemon games) and world 1 and 3 on ps1 and emulator. Also played some weird psp one that I didnt enjoy that much desu.
I want to see a digimon game reach full potential.
>I want to see a digimon game reach full potential.
We all are user. Unfortunately i don't think it will happen soon.
>I want to see a digimon game reach full potential
You better look elsewhere then. Digimon games tend to be really great in some areas but then at the times time, half assed in the rest.
Our only hope is that some user unleashes his power and makes a Digimon autism simulator.
sad really, why did they start making these waifu simulators instead of building upon the World games?
They honestly didn't know what they wanted the digimon games to be like. They had a really great anime but just couldn't follow up on it when it came to the games.
The decision they went from 1 to 2 to 3 was weird as well.
I watched the anime and liked Digimon well enough, but I think World 1 is what made me love the franchise. Probably would have fallen off and not cared about Digimon as much if the game didn't hold such a special place for me.
also the spanish version.
but i couldnt beat Greymon anyway, so i got stuck lol
Focusing on waifus is a sign that the developer/director is not confident in the substance of their game/show and must appeal to the most easily satisifed denominator.
Or maybe the developer/director just like waifu's.
Pretty sure you still skip at least a third of the game this way and have to do some autistic grinding.
The problem seems to stem that Digimon both wants to retain its' virtual pet roots to some extent, yet at the same time, they've fallen vastly out of focus what with the anime being much more successful than the V-Pets themselves. It doesn't know what it wants to be, or what it should be, for that matter.
For me it's Digimon World AND Digimon Card Battle..
DUDE
>Digimon Card Battle
That game was amazing as hell.
yes but you have to stop being a cheap bitch and just pay the normal price you a$$hole
Jesus user, I bow to your autism. I've gotten to the point I can complete most of the game within 3 generations, can't imagine going through the whole chart.
I used a digivolution diagram.
The fact you could get your shit smashed in just a few screens away from easy encounters was always terrifying and really made exploring always feel dangerous. Plus just how weird the world was while still feeling like a well thought out map was fantastic and made me want to see what's next.
>Didn't know English
>Want to progress in this game because it looks great and felt like I missed a lot of things
>Challenge myself to beat it 100%
>Bought my cousin a copy and told him to write down ANYTHING he encounters as strange or any progress, same to me
>Meet every week to discuss what we've done so far in the game
>Beat the game 100% in 3 years
Looking back now, my 6 year old self was smarter and full of joy. I wish I still had this ambition and excitement.
He's in Smash
Doubtful, but he's a better choice than the meme picks paraded around everywhere on Yea Forums
Go away.
But leave the thumbs here.
He means that he specifically needed multiple guides at the same time, meaning that it wasn't "a" strategy guide for him. It is not hard to understand.
>get tyrannomon
>spend every fucking waking second feeding him
>2 days in and he's eaten my entire stock and everything I foraged from the map on that day
>bought a strategy guide for this game
>didn't tell me shit anyway
>tfw you absolutely adore when games like Next Order or Cyber Sluts make you part of an ensemble of chosen children instead of the only special kid
>But every time it's brought up you're told your opinion is garbage and it should be one kid as the only human like World.
As a kid I hated 2 because I had the option of getting Digimon World (that I had rented before) or Digimon World 2 for Christmas. Had no fucking clue it was a totally different genre and the low step limit at the start ruined it for me immediately.
Played it later in my teens and it was pretty fun for a slapped together jrpg but the story was ass and combat seemed braindead.
2 is great if not because that fucking limit.
Collecting digimon by bribing them with toys or seduce them with drugs is fun.
I believe Scandinavia got the regular English PAL version. My copy always worked fine.
>digimon dies, pick a new egg and it eventually evolves to Gabumon
>randomly walking around with my new based Gabumon
>find the most random piximon ever
>"lol look at this little bitch, might as well kill him"
>didn't even save
>fight him
>he smashes my Gabumon's head open and he dies
I am convinced there are people out there who haven't watched the anime
World 3 (2003) has absolutely wonderful spritework, and a nostalgic game for me.
But it's so fucking grindy and obscure of what it wants you to do to proceed
I loved S1 as a kid but never played this as a kid. Dunno if I have the autism to raise them to the specific requirements, but a pet digimon sounds rad and I liked pokemon
can I get a skullgreymon though?
It took me way too long to realize you had to shoot the friendship items at the digimon outside of combat.
Wait what? Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.
See
I remember that game. I remember no matter what I did, my Digimon evolved into literal shit. Even if I only let him shit in the portsjons.
FUCK YES
How did 1 compare to 2?
How is Next Order? I just looked up the trailer and it looks pretty based not gonna lie
You pretty much had to follow a guide otherwise the game punishes you with shit. Luckily these days people made some really good guides and references online now that people know more about the game due to how buggy the game was.
Not even the same genre. 1 is a monster raising sim while 2 was a dungeon crawler.
If you liked any game from Digimon World series, it is pretty safe to play this one. People complain a lot. But the fact is that the game has several life improvements on it. (like locking some paths of digievolution so you dont get fucked) but you have to unlock most of these things to your city.
It's not perfect, but it's a solid 7/10 and has the bonus of the absolute best representation of Jogress/DNA Digivolution in any Digimon game ever, it's fucking hype.
If you watched the tv series you'd know Pixiemon was an ultimate that looked like a Rookie and ran for the hills.
but the strategy guide was useless garbage.
Does Next Order capture the feeling of this game? Haven't played the first DW but it seems like the only Digimon game to really portray what it's like to explore and raise your Digimon like in the show.
Superior Monster Raising sim
Somewhat.
Your Digimon feel more "alive" due the way they act and interact with each other and you but the exploration feels much more linear, and thus the feeling of being stranded in an island on your own and finding by yourself its secrets isn't as prominent.
The gameplay is a massive improvement though.
World 2 is the absolute worst. Slow ass framerate, and excessive ass grinding
what was the one where you used a tank with limited motion/steps and all mons had a level cap you had to increase by fusing but it never told you that exactly?
Digimon World 2
I see. I played it without actually knowing much English so that was an extra layer of "What the fuck am I doing" added.
just downloaded the ps1 emulator anons, should I play DW1 or DW3? Which one is better? and has more badass digimons
play1 nigguh
I don't know how the fuck I beat this as a child, but thanks anyway mom and dad.
? Only the first prints had a that glitch and they weren't that many, it got fixed at a later reprint not long after release.
One of the best osts ever
I remember playing this game and watching the anime as a kid and liking it, but I don't remember any details. Was the anime unironically good?
Is Beetlemon in any of the games?
I loved this game as a kid. Then my mom made me lend it to my asshole cousin. Like a year later he gives me back an empty case. I'm still a little mad about it.
No. YOU fuck off retard, World 1 is a broken piece of shit with a god awful translation.
Digimon World 3 is where it's at but even then the amount of grinding and stupid backtracking to pad out the game really overstays its welcome.
For a kids' anime, yes, season 1 of Digimon is fantastic. Season 2 was good but not as good. Season 3 and onward it went downhill fast.
Season 2 is shit. Season 1 and 3 are the only good ones.
You are given virtually infinite budget and 5 years of development time to do your own Digimon World game.
How are you going to do the following mechanics:
>combat
>raising mechanics (Do you tweak or replace stat training etc?)
>town development (Do you include mutually exclusive choices or random parameters etc?)
In one of the DS's Story games.
Season 1 was ok.
Season 2 was garbage.
Season 3 was the peak of the series, easily the best season.
Season 4 had its moments but onwards it's just a downward spiral to .a garbage fire.
Some people really love Tamers (season 3) because of its' slower burning, slightly deeper story, others find it tedious and slow.
Frontier (4) is a total fucking trainwreck, avoid unless you want to see Ranamon and a bunch of designs that are cool but never going to be used again.
Avoid Appmon at all costs, you'll benefit more if you just look at the designs that aren't shit and make up your own story
all digivolutions are permanent and there is a 85% chance your mon will digivolve into sukamon or numemon
calm the FUCK down, satan
>Avoid Appmon at all costs, you'll benefit more if you just look at the designs that aren't shit and make up your own story
Especially with ROBOCOCK
>>combat
Turn based JRPG or Real Time like Kingdom Hearts or FFXV
>>raising mechanics (Do you tweak or replace stat training etc?)
Exactly the same as Digimon World 1 but clarify what the stats do and give the player basic digivolution stats that can help them get through the game but still allow the possibility of experimentation to get even stronger mons, keep shitmon digivolutions in of course.
>town development (Do you include mutually exclusive choices or random parameters etc?)
Exactly the same as World 1, world building, atmosphere and the town upgrade aspect was definitely the game's strongest asset.
isn't the UK PAL version fine? It's just the other PAL versions, right?
adventure, tamers and savers are 100% worth watching. tamers in particular is unironically one of the greatest anime series ever made. check out the movie, bokura no war game, as well.
the rest of the anime ranges from mediocre (02, appmon) to terrible (frontier, xros wars, hunters) to an abomination (tri).
>Combat
Balanced, but designed to give an edge to players good at training their Digimon. Works like Next Order's, but you can train a Digimon's brains/INT so that they'll respond to orders much faster, and be able to give specific orders like moving to certain spots. Also keep the badass weebshit moments where if you lose and your Digimon love you enough they revive and Jogress into a new Mega that can bully the boss that beat them before to fucking death.
>Raising
Keep the physical training but also add lots more activities to train the mental faculties and friendship of your Digimon. Take them hunting or fishing, see movies with them, all sorts of activities that make them trust you more (Jogress chance up, resistance to debuffs up, etc.) And with each other too (Your mons will do combo attacks, leap in front of shots that would kill their partner and so on.)
>Town
Go full Lord of the Flies and have other chosen children in the world with you, and some of them make their own town opposite of yours. You have to compete with them not only for Digimon citizens, but for blueprints to make new buildings and facilities. Maybe add a new type of combat to wage war on a larger scale between towns, and a secondary raising system to train up Digimon soldiers. To make up for blueprints you lose out on, in the postgame you can make peace with them and gain access to the other blueprints.
How's that?
>Playing Wild Arms 3
>Past the first 1/3rd or so I have to use a guide because "WEST FROM HERE" once I get the sand boat basically means fuck you west of this location could be 101 different islands I have to mash square on just to find the place.
Fuck you anons Frontier was underrated and don't lump Xros Wars with Young Hunters you degenerate.
>If you raise your brains stat to 700, you get a 5% MP cost reduction bonus on your moves
>The game never tells you this, and doesn't change the amount it costs in the movelist - with MP costs being in the hundreds to thousands for some moves you will never, ever notice a change of a couple digits
>The only time the game will acknowledge this with a textbox is if your brains stat hits exactly 700 (and not a single one over) as the result of bonus stats gained after a battle
>Except the message is bugged and dumps the console's entire memory into that textbox and crashes the game on the spot when you view it
You couldn't make this shit up if you tried.
Reminder to try out the randomizer. Has a bunch of QoL features added on, and you have the option to randomize almost everything, from Starting Digimon to Digimon recruitment to move power/mp cost to random items in the overworld. Also just fun as fuck. Throwing a link up since some people were asking for it in one thread. Just go to releases and get the most recent version, patching is pretty straight forward.
Frontier is ruined by Royal Knights arc
I'm actually pretty okay with Frontier, but saying that it's underrated is a fucking lie given how it turbo-fucking-mega-with-added-blood-shits the bed down to the same level of abortion as Tri near the end, making only the two worst characters the only relevant ones among many other problems.
It does have good parts and good ideas. But it also has too many issues to recommend for a newcomer to the franchise, or for someone just returning to it.
>Digimon is ruined by Royal Knights arc
Fixed. Only time their presence as an organization and not as individuals was Cyber Sluts, with an honorable mention to the Dukemon and Sleipmon fight in Savers.
This. Besides, if any series is underrated then it's Savers.
>Curling medal
So what are the good Digimon games?
World 1 and Cyber Sleuth are generally agreed upon, everything else seems to be debated about
Juri, or whatever the fuck her name is, singlehandedly ruined the entire final arc. Holy fuck, she's insufferable.
Idk CS seems to get shit on for just being a Devil Survivor game but with digimon instead of demons.
it doesn't play like devil survivor at all, it just has the same character designer.
if anything, cyber sleuth and hacker's memory are more like "soul hackers meets kiseki."
This is Yea Forums, no one will ever 100% agree about anything.
Digimon World DS is the only Digimon game that I can personally call good. The sequel is ok too but not as good.
There's actually another DS game but it hasn't been fan-translated yet
wikimon.net
No fucking clue what goes on in it but it must be weird given all the other shit in related articles
I agree, probably should’ve said MT to be more catch all.
All I’m saying is that there’s definitely a fair amount of people who do have beef with CS.
dawn/dusk were legitimaly amazing as well, really sad the DS games are the best. I think digimon games were meant to be handheld
>that goth leather "sleeves"
s-so it was digimon that started my bdsm fetish
I played Hacker's Memory has an absolutely atrocious design choice in ABI. Essentially you have to grind a digimon up and down like 15 or so times in order to get it to a stat cap for bonus stats, then wait real time while it grinds them in the farm.
For a collectathon monster game where you can hold a fuckload of party members it's probably the worst conscious design choice I ever saw in a game not called Starbound. You're better off in pretty much all cases simply grinding your current mons through the tables into the monster you want, instead of raising a new one, making everything in reserve obselete.
Apart form that it's alright.
Im sad the old digimon games dont feature those op fusion Holy Knight mons like pic related
Listen, man, it'd be weird if your knights just pooped all over the place. That'd be bad for their image. Also DW1 was made before Mega level Digimon were even a thing for the most part.
>the worst conscious design choice I ever saw in a game not called Starbound
I chuckled
At first, Bandai clearly made this series to ride off of the hype behind Pokemon. Dont deny that please.
What is it with the japanese and belts?
they didn't. tamagotchis were a big fad at the time and they made digimon as a spinoff of it for the male audience.
isn't Nanimon some sort of fucked up reference to Tamagochi?
Nanimon? More like
Nanithe fuck is that thing?
He's one of the "failure" Digimon to go with Numemon and Sukamon. He understandably gets a lot less attention because he's gross and disgusting and hairy and throws poop while looking humanoid.
That's why they're good though, no shit like that.
Yep.
>A Digimon whose true identity is unknown, it arrived in the Digital World from another dimension in order to invade it. It was known by the title "OYAJI" in the other dimension, where it was raised as a digital pet. While it loves alcohol and has an oppressive personality, ever since it invaded this Digital World (though the exact details regarding its invasion are unknown), it evolved to become more active and turned into Nanimon. It trained and strengthened its body through battle, influenced by the Digital World's survival-of-the-fittest environment; however, no one knows the true extent of its abilities. Even so, it is said that a Nanimon that has fought and won countless battles will evolve into its ultimate form.
yes he is. his backstory is that he's an oyajitchi from tamagotchi who invaded the digital world, got his ass kicked, and then got swole to avoid getting his ass kicked anymore.
similarly, wizardmon and witchmon are a reference to magical witches, another (short-lived) line of v-pets.
What the fuck even is digimon lore
Yeah I think the issue is that there are simply too few rookie/trainee mons that need to somehow branch into a bunch of champions/ultimates/Megan’s.
>look it up
>it's real
wtf man
pure, distilled soul.
I just want a game with Bancholilymon, guys.
My Agumon always died of old age early, couldnt progress for shit
I have the PAL version and beat the game just fine twice without encountering the fortress agumon bug. Only bugs I encountered were the Mojiyamon bug, and the jukebox glitch.
I don't know why it didn't happen to me.
read
lmao
She'll just smack you with the Yo-yo man. You're not going to "redeem" her in to a house digimon.
i get they must be super rare to "work" i just wish i could play the game with them in it
gonna buy next order i think just for the cool mega knight mons
This explains those half forgotten childhood memories of frustration of not being able to finish the game
i printed a digivolve sheet when i was like 7 on my shitty ass internet, good times
Many thanks anons. Guess I am gonna make a revisit.
I only remember 2 things about this game.
1. Being traumatized by Toy Town
2. Deciding to wander off as far as I can and winding up in some ice crystal building, getting lost, and giving up.
>be 10yo
>pic related features free digimon card in every pack
>go to stores after school and opening them and taking out the cards
>have like 80 vards already
>get caught
>at police station parents have to buy all the unoponed packsges that they had in store
>mom throws out all the cards
>tfw cant even eat pombear withiut feeling very sad
I miss my metalgreymon shiny card bros
You deserve it, but I feel bad for you nonetheless.
thanks, youre right snon I was very retarded because after a few days the store guys figured it out and just waited for us
we couldve at least change the stores but this one was close to school and the only one we could manage to sneak to during lunch breaks
i miss being dumb kid nontheless
Hello boys, it's me, the only ultimate you had for the majority of your time with the game.
Who the fuck are you?
who are you?
keep this thread alive pls
I always got a fucking Mamemon or Metalmamemon who knows, the one with Smiley Bomb I think.
Stupid little fucker.
What's your general opinion on waifumons? Are the more monstrous/obviously nonhuman ones okay, or are all of them sin? Is there a limit to how "human" a Digimon should look?
i dont have a waifumon
never did and dont care for it really
WEWEWEWEWEWEWEWEW
I fucking hate that most of the final forms look like a person in some gay armour or cosplay. Probably my least favourite thing about the franchise.
You aren't fooling anyone.
Supposedly Digimon World 2's development started before World's release.
i approve of them.
Agreed. It's funny because even the humanoid designs before the Mega stage are usually rather varied. You've got a monkey dudebro Elvis in a monkey suit (Etemon), Short fucking zombie wizard (Wizardmon), Tall and almost pretty but scarecrow-faced witch with gigantic claws (Witchmon), the ultimate stage plantgirls who still have obvious alien/monster features (Lilymon and Lilamon), Meramon which is basically a dude made of fire... The list goes on.
And then for Mega level you've got... A bunch of dudes in sci-fi or fantasy armor and mecha-knights. What the fuck?
Per-case, but most at least have interesting parts. The bigger issue is the overabundance of dragon/knight to the point even cool designs blend in, but that is more a feedback loop of those being popular so Bandai makes more of them.
I don't think they're inherently bad, but I do think they should keep some kind of monsterous/not-quite-human element to them. Pic related is an example of a fine "waifumon", and Ranamon's pretty good too.
My problem is with stuff like Venusmon and Chohakkaimon, which are just girls in costumes. Minervamon falls in to this as well, but I'm admittedly partial to her for some reason. Her being designed like a goofy kid somehow seems fine for a Digimon design, and Mervamon has that neat Snake arm.
This game is better than pokemon
Cho-Hakkaimon is definitely something that could have been done better. The appeal of puppet are the mystery of the insides, where they have only glowing eyes or shadow hands, and often evolve from particularly strange beings to begin with. Weirdly enough the sprite from the recent LCD toy captures that spirit since it looks entirely piglike and human face is only in the anime cut-in thing.
>overabundance of dragon
I think it's an odd consequence of the going heavy on the Dinosaurs early on. A large chunk of Digimon are reptiles, and most main character partners are reptiles of some sort that transform in to either Dinos or Dragons. Or Dinos that eventually turn in to Dragons.
Even regarding the Knights, most of them either are, or came from Dragons or Dinosaurs, with Examon being hilarious blunt with it. Knightmon is one of the few "Dude-in-armor" Digimon that is not also a dragon.
Yeah, don't use a strategy guide and corrupt your save by using triangle to get out of Pixemon's menu or softlock your game by using Giromon's jukebox at all.
I just did a playthough of the game and took lots of screenshots, but wouldn't you know it I wiped my hard drive. I managed to recruit every single digimon, but I didn't get all the medals since most of them are for stupid shit like getting every move unlocked and playing every single tournament type which needs you to have specific digimon on certain days of the year.
Also fuck digivolving in that game. Even if you do manage to get a non numemon legit, you don't know what you did to get it. There are many digimon that require you to fuck up and have him shit on the floor or forget to feed him X number of times, sometimes as high as 10 times in Skullgreymon's case, and the care mistakes reset on evolution.
The game is only hard because of how obscure the requirements for digivolving are, once you get an ultimate the game turns into easy mode.
Also fuck the guy who though it was a good idea to have 3 recruitable digimon with a 1% encounter rate. It takes like 2 fucking minutes reload the screen and doing it 50 times in a row has to be the gayest shit on earth.
Out of curiosity, what's your favorite Digimon?
Feed me.
That Monzaemon is nice. Its nice to be able to take your useless slug to toy town and get an easy ultimate with a nice finisher. I also like penguimon because he can learn poison claw which is the most OP move in the game and has a tiny hit box.
I was able to kill some ultimates without items because this mother fucker's poison claw was faster than all of his moves.
Good taste overall, mang.
Probably doesn't help they stopped doing large waves of normal new guys.
>poison claw which is the most OP move in the game
I disagree but respect your opinion.
I rented this game back in the day. Didn't get far at all but it was comfy
>get to metal greymon
>struggle like shit
>finally beat him
>my metal mamaemon dies of old age right after
I never played digimon world after that, the anger has lasted close to a decade
Why you eat so damn much?
Trying to make him digivolve into megadramon was pretty hard if I recall, something like grinding out 5k mp or something
lmao people had to decompile the game's code to figure out how to reliably get HerculesKabutarimon
>That little flesh bullet giving a thumbs up on Megadramon's right arm
These drawings are too charming.
How do you do it?
How long ultimate form last again? 3 days?
>fast as fuck
>poison never goes away and deals damage based on max HP
The only ability that comes close is Ice Statue just because of the long range, power, and stunning, but poison claw can hit faster than it.
If there is a move stronger than poison claw it must be terrifying.
My brother
DW3 should be had 3v3 combat like DW2
>=7000 hp
>=400 off
>=600 def
>=400 speed
I think that was the reasoning for the Digimon Story series. Mixture of 3 and 2 mechanic wise.
There's a couple moves that are debatably stronger like Megalo Spark/Thunder Justice, Ice Statue, or Bug.
Poison Claw is definitely really good though, more for its speed. Being able to interrupt stronger but slower moves is such a huge boon.
>metal mamaemon
I can top that. He was my first legitimate ultimate in the game and I just started tearing things up with him. Got all the way into mt. infinity to the last battle I believe and beefed it. That was his last life. From then on out, looking at that stupid bridge and cave terrified me. Years later I emulated it with a guide and finally had my vengeance. It's ridiculous how much you had to spam the healing items though.
it's more like 6-7 days, I remember most of my legit Ults living to 21.
iirc, you wanted to always have max happiness and just 53ish% discipline because that actually shortens lifespan
>tfw you learn it's called 'when you're lonely'
>lyrics are probably 'when you're lonely I'll be there for you' from your digimon's perspective
Ah yes it seems i got it wrong.
I remember it was digimon RE:Digitize in PSP and i was so pissed of how fast my mega died.
If i recall correctly your average mon lived for two weeks and evolving to ultimate gave it more days. Most of then lasted to 21-22.
Man the digimon games really knew how to make poison good. It was pretty bad ass in Cyber Sleuth and worked on quite a few bosses.
By working on a few bosses, you mean they constantly used anti-poison rather than fight back, meaning it was a matter of overcoming the slight healing ability of anti-poison.
You guys DID preorder your 20th Anniversary V-Pet at FUCKIN' GameStop, right?
No but I will soon enough
Maybe the endgame or high speeders bosses sure since that would literally kill them before your first turn but everything else before that even some of the Eaters fell to poison.
But I already got a JP release.
i cheesed my way through the early-game eater fights with venom trap and it worked.
>champions/ultimates/Megan’s.
I hate how retardedly huge their boobs got in recent years. Sakuyamon's Xantibody would've been amazing if it wasn't for that.
I can't believe they gave Minervamon Xantibody a cameltoe
Think anyone would appreciate a Digimon World stream?
I do.I recently watched limealicious' play through of it
Maybe friday night. I'd watch
I'm roboduck on twitch. I'll stream some tomorrow night. 9pm est.
The Bancho digimon are canonically all good guys, that's why Bancholeomon recruited them.
Doesn't Bancho Leomon turn into an eldritch abomination? Ultimate Khaosmon.
You the dude with the neon aesthetic?
Doesn't matter, it's canonical that Bancholilymon is a pure and good girl who fights for the weak, and I want her on my team.
only if he jogresses with darkdramon, valdurmon and sleipmon.
You should watch Sukeban Deka. It's literally what Bancho Lilymon is based on and make you love her even more.
>Implying I don't already know about Sukebans and that's why I like Bancholilymon, who is a Sukeban version of a digimon that was already my favourite
user, you underestimate my power.
I love Bancho Mamemon because I'm severely agoraphobic and he protects hikkimori according to his profile.
>DW3 was my favorite game growing up
>Have nothing but fond memories of it
>Go back to it years later
>Battle animations are so slow compared to modern standards
>Veemon DNA minigame
>Grinding nonstop for new digivolutions
>Counter Crest completely breaks the NA version of the game
>All the backtracking
I'll still always love it, even if it is outdated.

I'm a big fan of the tv series but the only game in the franchise I've ever played is Digimon World Dawn. Does the original hold up well enough that I could give it a go?
It's decent but it's VERY obtuse to a modern gamer's perspective and clunky, it also plays absolutely nothing like Dawn, which was actually a Story game whose title got changed to World in the translation.
Would you, Yea Forums?
Complete 180. You go from open world adventure to rougelike dungeon crawler chockfull of grinding.
I wish Digimon found a way to keep the monster raising elements. I don't know who approved that shift, but it was retarded looking back on it.
Digimon World 2 to Digimon World 3 was less of a hassle, though. Less grindy because you don't have to constantly jorgress evolve (but still grindy as fuck in it's own special way), but I welcomed the transition more than I welcomed going from 1 to 2.
Actually, as long as you keep on playing and getting new techniques, you will eventually begin to get ultimate digimons more easily due to filling the TECHNIQUE requirement of getting a digimon.
Even if you suck at the game, you can easily get hard digimons without even fulfilling the stats requirements at some point, as long as you keep on playing and recruiting new digimon.
My friend kept training Whamon brains trying to get rid of him because he ate too much, and he turned into a Mamemon.
The gym also gets upgrades throughout the game, and you get an ultimate (Monzaemon) for free at the Toy Town.
I don't even know what that is or what game it's about or whatever, I just saw the tumbnail on the front page
yes
Which world game was the one where you played as digimon using weapons?
of course.
4, I think.
Training in the giant shit made it a lot easier, and by the end Megadramon is one of the easier ultimates to get because he's pretty lenient on care mistakes and such.
So does Digimon Next Order play exactly like Digimon World? What are the differences?
If I enjoyed World would k enjoy Next Order?
>Feed him your three meats of the day
>
>Food emote shows up again
Why is all the official art so tiny?
>play a ton on an NTSC copy
>however I'm a dumb ESL kid and can't fully understand most of what is being said
>find out I could be playing a PAL version in my own language
>delete old save cause I ain't gonna need that shit anymore
>mfw I get to Tyrannomon
No fucking clue.
Thankfully I do have a high res official artwork of a Digimon. Bad news is that it's an Appmon.
I never understood appmon, how are they different from Digimon?
Didn't you already get compensated with Digimon World 2003, the better version of DW3?
They're from an abortion of a spinoff that, I SHIT YOU NOT, features gay robot romance. Shame because some of the designs are actually pretty ok.
To make you feel better about your small dick
How do you feel about Bandai adding rape as a valid method of digivolution?
If there's a Digimon I could expect to do that sort of thing it's definitely Diaboromon's rookie form
O R G A N I C
>I just wish the world itself wasn't so shit compared to the original.
the worlds in digimon had so much soul
Wut gameu?
My favorite digimon. I'm a bit edgy when i still kid.
ReArise.
Apparently it's getting an English release soonish?
Oh come on, it won't even let me vaguely choose based on how I raise my Digimon? Bullshit.
the fun aspect of the game was doing play throughs without a guide
you could figure out how to avoid a shitmon pretty early
the game is designed for your digimon to die anyway
