The general problem I have is the clear push that the DLC will be full of 3rd Party characters when Smash really doesn't need more of them to feel "complete."
While there are a handful of particular first party choices that got skimped by ultimate's general focus on bringing back old stuff over making new stuff, some of which just won't get another window just because of how selection normally goes.

I think so long as the majority of OC is still being the main girls it's ok to expand the cast, especially since the fact we're directly associated to the news cycle means there's specific consoles who'll always be more relevant- just consider how easily Switch slotted in and replaced Wii U in getting the focus of OC creation. Comparing Channels to Consoles is pretty much an apples and oranges scenario. The console-tan community's already made designs for every major console, and they've pretty much gotten every minor console as well at this point (I'm pretty sure only like Pong machines and other Z-list stuff remain, and obviously nobody cares about that crap). On the other hand, making designs for channel-tans was a much bigger task, and it'd reach into actual impossibility if non-cartoon channels were thrown into the mix. Point is, the scale console-tans could go to is way, way smaller than the scale channel-tans seemed to be heading to.

There are company tans, but outside of Sega / Sony / Nintendo, they never seem to catch on. Even EA, which could be the target of so many jokes and who has a relatively nice design, is not too popular. As such, yeah, ctt has its limits, and will always steam latest news with the 'main consoles' plus retro stuff that is recognizable like Snes x Genesis or PS2 being a bully.
