The Sonic franchise during the 2001-2007 era was a awful era for Sonic. Probably the worst era in gaming history. SA2 is a bad game, Heroes is mediocre, Shadow is probably the worst in the series, 06 is a buggy mess and Secret Rings is awful.

SA2 fucking sucked dick, it was the start of the decline for the series. Relying too much a shitty gimmicky characters like Tails/Eggman much shooter levels and the boring treasure hunting levels with Knuckles/Rouge. The speed levels are probably the best ones but even those are too straight forward and the game is way to automated.
