So you fucks praise NV like it's the second coming of Jesus so I went and brought it. I have only ever played 4 and it got me interested in the franchise.
But holy shit it is really hard to appreciate the game when the combat feels so horrific where you end up using VATS every 2 seconds to compensate for it.
Generally a lot of it seems so outdated and a relic now, is it even worth playing nowadays? Keep in mind I know nothing about the plot or anything.
New Vegas is probably the most overrated game of all time. hough.
Adam Allen
Stick to Fallout 4, kid. You deserve it.
Nicholas Bell
Better than New Vegas.
Landon Reyes
just use vats zoomer, also combat in 4 is worse
Colton Anderson
Try turning off mouse acceleration you can find a method to do so online.
Joseph Miller
Bethesda has never made a good game.
Mason Smith
There is actually not much wrong with the aiming in the game, its gamebryos awkward as fuck animations and collision that make things spaz out that makes things hard to hit.
Jose Bennett
>But holy shit it is really hard to appreciate the game when the combat feels so horrific where you end up using VATS every 2 seconds to compensate for it. The combat is fairly clunky/shitty and the enemies are bullet sponges if your skills are at a lower level but that's par for the course with the Fallout games.
>Generally a lot of it seems so outdated and a relic now, is it even worth playing nowadays? As someone who bought this on its release date, it was dated in terms of graphics and animations even then. Every replay I've tried since my first two playthroughs way back in 2010/2011 I've gotten bored of. But I feel that way about nearly every RPG I've played. So up to you. I probably couldn't get into it if I was playing it for the first time in 2019.
Asher Bennett
You just have to tolerate the shitty gameplay for the story.
Luis Johnson
I'll list the things I think 4 did better than NV. Use of junk Chems Combat (slightly) Sprint for AP Power Armor But that's it. Literally everything else in NV is so much better than 4, that it makes it the better game. Even the inventory management is worse in 4. How do you even.
Jackson Peterson
Yes, its still a good game. If you hate the combat then don't play 3 because NV is a flat upgrade over it. Leave now before you get spoiled.
Jack Bailey
Fucking this.
>As someone who bought this on its release date, it was dated in terms of graphics and animations even then. Unless you're saying FO3's graphics were dated as well I wouldn't agree with that.
Joshua Davis
FO3 came out a couple of years prior. Red Dead Redemption came out in 2010.
Brayden Phillips
I somehow forgot to link your post in my reply, my bad.
Joseph Garcia
stick to fortnite kiddo
James Miller
It was like a year and a half between releases. Saying FO3's graphics were up to date but NV's weren't really doesnt make sense.
Dominic Wilson
Are you fucking stupid or something? How can you say that when fortnite exists? In 4-6 years Yea Forums is going to be flooded with teenagers who are nostalgic for fortnite.
Matthew Hill
New Vegas is one of the most overrated games in history
Literally every side quest is an mmo tier fetch quest, the map is shit. The dlcs are better then the main game though, just go right to those
Jaxson Russell
There's nothing to spoil really. The whole game is just "pick which side you want to win". There's no major twists it anything outside of lonesome road but that's not really a twist so much as exposition dump via eyebot
Logan Ramirez
>Fallout New Vegas is too old for me u guys!!1!!1 That's about 99% of ALL GAMES. Please leave and find your death somewhere you little shit faggot.
John Watson
You sound like a homoo
Isaac Long
I'm OP I've started playing it, just killed some guys called the powder gangers. I fell really weighed down not having a sprint key, the map even for a nuclear apocalypse just looks dull, I mean do they have any other colour than orange?
It is also very small grievances that makes the game feel clunky to use. The inventory system is a hell. Not being able to switch tabs quickly with Q and E and having to drag my mouse all the way over the relatively small buttons, it just does not flow well.
And unless I have missed it there is no way to switch weapons quickly meaning you have to go through the awful system every single time.
Remember that their armor disguises you as one of them, don't use it in front of people that hate them. Also if you're too hated by them they'll see through your disguise due to your infamy.
Jayden Garcia
FUCKING THIS. I actually really enjoy gunfights in NV but if you want to enjoy the game it is critical that you learn to adjust to how things will suddenly jerk around at fucking turbo speeds.
Luke Lewis
Sprinting with AP was alreadu in one f NV's most popular mods, Project nevada. Also the junk gathering and the way they handled power armor are both awful but that comes down to personal preference I suppose.
Nolan Gomez
Vault 11 was cool though. You can map weapons and items to keys 1-9 except for the 2 key.
Christian Brooks
Are you over 18? You need to leave this website now, you little cunt
Grayson Baker
FO3 graphics were more impressive to me when it came out than NV's which were definitely outdated. But I didn't have a PS3/360 (or a PS2/Xbox) and FO3 was one of the first games I got after I built my first gaming PC so it's likely I just wasn't used to graphics of that generation. When you consider Crysis was like 2007 and MGS4 was around that time too, FO3 definitely did not have modern graphics.
Yeah too be fair I saw this when I went to put on one of their armour. That is actually super cool and wish other games did something similar. I think skyrim did this with thalmor clothes?
Jonathan Rivera
It's not surprising that autistic children like Fortnite.
Samuel Wilson
>I just now bought [old game] and fuck me if the engine isnt dodgy by todays standards no one cares about your late to the party opinion. its like the guy on /vr/ complaining fallout 1 is janky.
Oliver Phillips
It really isn't, it's only valued by a few people that have actually invested a lot of time on it. If anything, it's one of the few games that's properly rated. Once this judgement becomes the status quo, then it will become overrated.
Christopher Long
>I think skyrim did this with thalmor clothes? Yeah that was only used for the diplomatic immunity mission, depending on your race the disguise would be easier to see through.
Ian Brown
If you're up for modding the game, I highly recommend Clarity. It removes the stupid orange soda cheddar cheese whiz goldfish cracker piss filter and actually makes the game look really nice in a lot of areas.
>Tons upon tons of mods >No mods that fix the shitty hitreg Boy do i love shooting a faggot in the face only to see that they have gotten zero damage
Jayden Nguyen
i liked the yellow filter on nv and the brown one on 3. It made the games a lot more atmospheric.
Ayden Garcia
>played hundreds of hours of FO3 >can't really get into NV because it feels like too much of the same >dropped FO4 after 50 hours Is the franchise kil? Do you anons actually enjoy FO4?
Camden Brooks
Didn't 3 have a green filter?
Wyatt Cooper
I did The settlement building was a big part of it for me, spent hours building a city at starlight drive-thru (pic related), and the weapon upgrade and freedom of movement really gave me a sense of freedom.
i play it for mods, if it didn't have that i would have dropped it a long time ago.
Christian Green
mod it in then
Thomas Nguyen
I want to love lonesome road but I fucking hate the level design so confined and railroady, I always feel like if I take the wrong turn or wrong jump I'll get locked into a certain part of the world and miss some shit
Isaiah Gonzalez
As others have said, make sure to disable mouse acceleration which is pretty simple: >Go to your New Vegas install folder >Open Fallout_default.ini with notepad >Then paste these lines under [CONTROLS] >fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0 >fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0 >fForegroundMouseBase=0 >fForegroundMouseMult=0 Another thing you can do which makes the game way easier is turning of True Iron Sights in the in-game options. For some reason, the sights in these games are really misaligned and by turning them off, the game instead just gives you a real indicator of where your shots are actually landing. Believe me when I say that you're probably missing most of your shots because of this option. Other than that, you can get yourself mods that "improve" the combat, but those two changes are really all you need to dominate this game on the harder difficulties.
Aaron Price
Eh. Lonesome road came at the end of a huge game with multiple DLCs full of exploration and roaming around finding shit. Lonesome road serves as the final gauntlet/dungeon where you use up all the things you've gathered thus far in order to overcome its challenge. I appreciate it very much but I can see how other people wouldn't see it that way.
Alexander Cook
>every nv shill post specifically says combat is clunky trash >op is a faggot and a selective reader
Austin Russell
I just played it recently, it's kinda mediocre really, it has an okay writing, world that feels formulaic as the Bethesda games. If anything the game really feels too much bethesda shit in it, and that's not a compliment. There are long stretches of the game with no content, and don't give me that post apoc shit, there's that huge NCR base with aircraft and shit that is more barren than the fucking outside. The art style is brown and yellow, the game just looks disgusting from an aesthetic perspective.
The crafting feels half assed, the game isn't clear to tell you what's a crafting material and what isn't, which would help to prevent the massive hoarding that is required to craft like 5 fucking items. But things such as the armor you can craft feel so useless, a lot of the bullet making and crafting overall feel total like a waste of time and carrying capacity. Never really played FO3 or 4.
Dominic Miller
>The main plot was a load of shit though. Do you even like games? What a shit way of seeing things do you have
Ayden Murphy
Seriously? I liked F4, but let's be honest - F4 was at best a dumbed down F3 while New Vegas is F3 with the brake lines cut.
Benjamin Rivera
F4 is a better game than 3 and NV EXCEPT where it matters, the rpg stuff and dialogue
Ian Garcia
>NV is overrated and mediocre >doesn't name any other modern RPGs with better both better gameplay and writing
Chase Thompson
WAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAA THIS GAME DOESNT HOLD MY HAND AND HAVE CONSTANT ACTION FOR ME TO ZOOM INTO!!!
Henry Garcia
You can beat New Vegas without ever engaging in combat. It's an RPG, not a shooter. Also, Fallout 1 and 2 are better.
I played FNV when it came out. I decided to re-install to finish all the achievements that I never got on my first time playing.
It has NOT aged well at all, much like other Bethesda games it not only looks awful, but the gameplay is something I forgot was really really bad.
I ended up just turning it down to very easy so I could breeze through the game instead of struggling to kill fucking geckos on the hard difficulty. I'm still gonna play through it though.
Also, Caravan fucking sucks. It's slow, it's clunky and the rules are never made very clear.
Grayson Gomez
>VATS VATS builds are fun you cock.
Nathan Evans
Ammo isn't really that scarce anyways.
Jaxson Gutierrez
Dead Money is the worst DLC
Ethan Martinez
No but Hand load ammo is objectively best for most encounters.
Joshua Gray
You misspelled best.
Jeremiah Foster
Bad taste, I bet you think OWB is the best. Well you're wrong because it's second best
Jacob Carter
>Yea Forums hates New Vegas now What the FUCK went wrong?
David Robinson
except for 12.7, because they only have handloaded HP for some fucking reason
Jason Martin
It's an incredibly overrated game. Good for its time, but has not stood the test of time well.
Connor James
>Zoomer tries a real game
Oliver Hughes
New Vegas is underrated, though.
Jason Walker
Why does Yea Forums hate this game but loves oblivion and dragon age origins when they’re both far worse
Luis Perez
12.7 is meme ammo anyways so no one cares.
Michael Anderson
:^(
Anthony Cox
It's contrarian shitposting for (You)s, nothing new.
Colton Wood
It's clearly just newfags.
Zachary Nguyen
HH felt empty and stale, tho the burned man was nice
OWB felt too off place, played fallout 1 & 2 so dont tell me that some science fiction thing is the same as a mad max game
Aaron Ortiz
Blame the fact that only 3 weapon models even use the ammunition.
Parker Stewart
Name a better console rpg that’s come out after it you fucking moron. The graphics are fine and so is the gameplay for what kind of game it is. In Fallout 4 everything looks like it’s made out of clay and plastic.
desu HH is an easy way to get late game guns at level 20 or so, the first encounter gives you a fucking anti material rifle ( not sure if enemy weapons are scaled tho)
Caleb Lewis
I really really wish NV was made after 4 it'd be such a better game with all the gameplay improvements dialogue wheel not withstanding
Jaxon Peterson
It's probably the best one in terms of story and atmosphere. Graphics wise, yeah It's slightly dated, if that really bothers you just get some graphic-overhaul mods. Combat wise? Yeah it's clunky, but be fucking glad you're not playing Fallout 3 wich has atrocious combat.
Evan Roberts
It depends how stupid you are. Given that you apparently liked Fallout 4, probably very, in which case I suspect NV isn't for you.
Jordan Brown
some tips:
play on survival and take now ridiculously op chemist skill
I just let me companions do all the fighting anyways. load them up with weapons that do high damage per cap and surplus ammo to save money.
the only weapon I found off was the Gauss rifle. which shoots off the center of the reticle I believe.
Dominic Foster
>not just going full melee to avoid the braindead combat which is fallout and enjoying the game
Michael Carter
I played arround 500-700 hours of this game and just now started to use ammo recicling, still never played caravan
Jordan Rogers
money is a meme anyway I can score enough caps to buy fucking the rifle at the gun runners with a high barter skill and a magazine right after killing nipton legion mooks
>point dot on enemy >press mouse button >clunky gameplay ???
Cameron Wood
user, sometimes I wonder if you're being obtuse on purpose or genuinely retarded
Matthew Kelly
It was dated even back then. People never claim the contrary, they just believe its strengths outshine the obvious issues. There has never been a NV that doesn't mention: 1) Clunky combat 2) Bugs 3) Unfinished story I don't know where the overrated thing is coming from, probably people that see world's smallest community enjoying a game they made themselves highly customizable feel threatened by it.
Ryan Jackson
The resident fanboys will tell you the quests are superior and the writing is better. This is a crock of shit. Quests are more linear, writing in general terms is ok but the jokes are literally written by 12 year olds. >woohoohohoho I won the loootterryryryyyyyyyy woooowowowowow
>He hasn't experienced the pleasure of doing a legit cowboy run tagging repair, survival, and guns.

Elijah Wood
Your problem is that you think it is more a shooter looter, like 4 was. It's more an rpg, which is a genre you evidently don't play, like the old fallouts, which you have not played, so get rekt for getting things like an idiot.
Camden Lewis
The strip at night looks better than anything in fallout 4
Mason Butler
>say it's not a shooter >laughs at people who use vats sounds to me the people using vats are the real fans of fallout
Robert Clark
>I don't know where the overrated thing is coming from, probably people that see world's smallest community enjoying a game they made themselves highly customizable feel threatened by it. Is this your first day on Yea Forums? New Vegas is regarded as one of the best rpgs of all time here

If you liked 4 then you have no interest in the genre that fallout is, nor the actual franchise.

Show a single environment with soul in your shit game, Todd.

I said it was more an rpg than a shooter, and I didn't mention vats anywhere in the post. Don't even reply to me moron.
Nolan Torres

Asher Ortiz
Because it is, it's clunky ad fuck and even if I love it to death I can't stomach the combat without 5 different mods to mitigate the clunkyness of the engine, it also looks like shit but there hasn't been any better 3d rpg with guns since, it's not the perfect game and will never be but it's the best of its kind and as such I enjoy it a lot.
Caleb Bennett
Everything looks like clay in fallout 4. It’s a shit looking game. It’s hilarious how new Vegas gets shit on for looking out dated when fallout 4 is one of the worst looking games of its generation as well.
You’re probably part of the fallout general on /vg/
Ayden Peterson
If you only played 4, it's understandable that it feels broken and bad. I'd recommending starting with Fallout 1, really try to get into it. Treat it as a different genre. If you get a taste of Black Isle's storytelling, and you push through the steep learning curve (mainly due to newer games being casualized) you won't give a fuck about combat in Fallout New Vegas. Fallout was never, and is not supposed to be, about shooting things with your gun. It's about the ethics of people in a post nuclear world. That's the main thing you should be getting out of Fallout, if you're looking to just shoot a few things and have slight RPG elements thrown in throughout the journey, your best bet is playing a different game. Again, to reitarate, it's not about shooting, but rather the reasons and stories, the context, behind the shooting. That's what Fallout at its core is.
Lucas Collins

it's pretty pathetic that you can't even aim, but there's literally a skill called "explosives" made especially for people like you

This is bait but im gonna bite. Are you so fucking dumb that you think all of this dialougue isnt part of the gameplay experince then you have never played a fulfilling rpg in your entire life. "The game sucks where is matters" Then its not fucking better you trog. Sure you may like it more, but objectively fallout 4 is a half assed experience. and to say it's better in anything other than graphics and gun play is absurd. YOU literally said "The game is worse where it counts, but it's better" are you esl?
Jonathan Thompson
>it’s not a perfect game The vast majority of games aren’t perfect games. Why is new Vegas held to such impossibly high standards? Literally every aspect of this game is scrutinized in ways that other games just aren’t on here.
Hudson Bailey
All of the Oblivion games require extensive moding to fix the terrible mouse acceleration

Thanks for the NV thread even though your taste is shit.
i hate these "is it worth playing" threads so fucking much

Hold the number buttons in the inv screen to bind items to hotkeys
I always see NV as an audacious and valiant yet flawed attempt to revive the franchise the way it was. That was of course an impossible task given they had to work with the Gamebryo engine and Bethesda's attempts to sabotage the project. I commend NV for trying and staying true to its predecessors (1 & 2), which ultimately leads to a pretty fun game. But you my friend, given your arguments, I'd say you're better of with CoD or whatever shitty shooter zoomers are playing nowadays.
>you end up using VATS every 2 seconds I've never used VATS seriously unless I'm specifically fucking around. Stop using it and just git gud.
Angel Thompson
Because it's popular and therefore must be criticized NV is the champion of that category though. Every game here gets that treatment to an extent VNTB, STALKER, EYE, ...
Jeremiah Morris
What mods do I need to make a courier as badass as this? Wanted to do a Ranger/Grizzled NCR vet playthrough for so long, but I can never get the face right. This looks pretty close to what I'd like to create.
If it makes you feel any better the combat felt like dogshit on release, hell it felt like dogshit back in Fallout 3. People like the game for just about everything else.
How come so many people here say graphics don’t really matter until new Vegas comes up and all of a sudden graphics are more important than the story in an rpg game
Jeremiah Perez
Because New Vegas looks like someone smeared marmalade across the screen.
Noah Gray
All that's really at work in this screenshot is Fallout Character Overhaul, an ENB, and Nevada Skies. Everything else is base game

I agree but you will always find raging faggot to say otherwise because the animations aren't as good as their 4 hours long cinematic "game", I also believe that a lot on console cucks hate on them because sour grapes since they can't have Stalker or moded NV or any classic games on their plastic brick
Michael Roberts
Fallout 3 was just plain bad. Its main story is barely 6 hours long and its probably the worst RPG plot I have ever fucking experienced
Brandon Anderson
>Fallout Character Overhaul Yeah I'm guessing this is the key thing. thanks
The worst part about Fawkes refusing is that he literally just went into a radiation filled area to do something for you fucking 20 minutes prior to the ending scene. Did F3 have a 6 month dev cycle or something?
Anthony Garcia
Hey OP if you're still here I'm trying to give FO4 a chance. So far it feel like I'm playing Borderlands single player but with lamer guns, and a tacked on half-assed city building system. That said I'm still sort of enjoying it but I definitely had to re-calibrate my expectations from away from RPG to loot'n'shoot.
Mason Ramirez
>Did F3 have a 6 month dev cycle or something? No, it was all Todd "fallout 3 will have 400 endings" Howard. He was bullshitting people even back then.
Wyatt Watson
Yeah Fallout 4 and 76 behave like borderlands more than RPGs, so just expect shoot and loot for the rest of the series' life.
Eli Baker
it's a RPG where stats are done with dull checks, also where being level 1 in Guns or level 100 barely fucking matters gameplay wise, something Deus Ex had figured out how to adapt to a real time game 30 years ago
New Vegas is the RPG of choice that the retard who grew on bethesdashit uses to feel better about himself and his shit taste.
Leo Allen
No, I think the writers genuinely felt that the main character sacrificing themselves in the ending was meaningful and impactful. They just got really pissy when players pointed that they have several in game alternatives to easily avoid sacrificing anyone.

If you can't play without VATS, you need to unironically get good.
Adam Powell
what are some RPG's you play then? I partly agree with some of this, but I'm curious as to what game (other than Deus Ex) is worthy of playing through?
Christian Perez
OP, just stick to F4 okay? Clearly this game isn't for you
Cooper Russell
I don't anybody pretends otherwise, user. >I think the writers genuinely felt that the main character sacrificing themselves in the ending was meaningful and impactful. It would've if the main character actually had any development. Problem with the whole series is that they can make likeable and dislikeable characters at will, but I don't think many of them have character development inside a game. I think NV tried that with the companions, but it was still very black or white.
Bentley Reed
The whole idea was completing your life from birth to death which is kino unlike nv forcing a back story on you via lonesome road and giving no future after the battle at the dam
Brandon Walker
>is nearly identical to Raven rock Shut up, retard

Almost every questline in Bethdaout is a joke though and it's worse than anything in Fallout 4.

Even the ones trying to be serious like the vampire clan are jokes.
Nicholas Wood
how fucking delusional do you have to be to defend F3's ending over any of NV's endings?
Jonathan King
I've had the opposite experience of OP it seems. I never had to touch VATS when I played 3/NV but in 4 I'm using it constantly since everything moves so much faster and shit just burrows up out of the ground right next to you.
Grayson Perry
Caravan takes some time to get hang of, but it's really fun once you get used to it

Yeah, if they were so attached to that ending they should have given the main character a defined personality. I mean if you're playing a character who's willing to blow up megaton for some caps and an apartment you probably are not willing to sacrifice yourself so other people can get a drink of water.

>Fallout 2 is better Yes >fallout 1 is better as well Sorry, but 1 is too damn clunky with companion control, too few locations, too few weapons, scrapheap not being included in the finals game just to name a few problems.
Not him but I think the vanilla game let you sacrifice Lyons, which makes the inability to ask someone who'd actually survive it even more infuriating.
Christopher Hughes
all of the Oblivion games have that audience though
Bentley Cox
Out of that list I actually prefer the Power Armor in 1 and 2. My character actually felt like a walking tank after I get in the original games. It feels sort of weak in the 3D games but I'm not that far into 4, so maybe the higher tier Power Armor is better.
God 4's Pip-Boy UI is abysmal, I'll never understand how they went from the perfectly compact and functional look that they created in 3 to the shithead that requires scrolling between item categories and mixes your notes in with misc items.

It should feel like a heavy tank almost like a mech like you said which is awesome, 3 and nv it felt too much like clothes. I use a mod in 4 that changes the armor to use dt and dr like in new vegas, that way low calibers do almost no damage gives it a realistic feel and isnt too easy on survival/hard
Dominic Bennett
Not OP, but really, what do you guys like about this shit? Boring as fuck combat, shitty graphic style, and the story is just whatever
Liam Parker
Player agency. Stick with Fortnite, kiddo.

I don't know why people mock that line as if it's stupid or makes no sense. It's not that hard to grasp the logic.
You can even talk him down through barter if you want an alternative diplomatic approach.
Its Oblivion but with a main questline that isnt awful

Even on consoles mixing the notes in with all the other misc. items is a terrible decision. I wish Bethesda would take five minutes to look up how people modded their UI for their previous games and learn something from it.

To be fair, it doesn't help the crafting system and menu is shit without the improved recipe menu mod >can only craft a maximum of 100 items at a time despite having more than enough materials to make more >crafting menu closes every time you craft something
ok, so regarding the special stats 5 is average 7 is above average 8 is extremely above average and 10 is just god like right? so if I have a 10 in intelligence shouldn't I be smarter or at least as smart as every single person I meet in the game?
Connor Murphy
I've always been a big fan of the Mojave setting. Now throw that and a slick soundtrack and you got a game you can wander around hours with.
Tyler Cook
>can pass 100 speech checks with 1 charisma Yeah this game needed some more work

If you know what you are doing caravan is almost too easy

>Can suddenly convince Easy Pete to give everyone dynamite by glancing over an old ass magazine you found in a mailbox which disintegrates upon reading once.

Reddit: New Vegas is such an overrated game. Honestly it's not terrible but it's still pretty overrated.
Jeremiah Hughes
No. Like, yeah, sure, but it's an abstraction used for stats, not a hard rule. Like how Lanius is the toughest and fastest son of a gun in the base game even though I'm pretty sure other NPCs have similar SPECIAL.
Dominic Wilson
It's underrated.
Thomas Walker
>TFW Dinner bell, shotgun surgeon, and stay back mix juuust right on a legion centurions face
You're very knowledgeable and have a much greater capacity to learn, which is why intelligent characters earn more skill points, but you're not necessarily the "smartest" person in the mojave. Intelligence has to be tempered with wisdom, otherwise it isn't that much better than being a retard.
>there are people that use Lily for more than one playthrough >there are people that didn't tell her to just take her damn medicine
Ayden Harris
No.
Kevin Peterson
the only games Yea Forums "likes" are janky western rpgs that you can kill everyone you don't like in
Kevin Foster
Maybe early on they did when people initially brushed off NV as an expansion to Fallout 3, but they've preferred NV for a very long time now.
Joseph Parker
Reddit's one of the most popular websites, with literally millions of users. What the fuck do you think, shitheel?

Caesar had a plan and intended to integrate the Legion with the NCR so that they'd be a single nation instead of an occupying force. He had spies and people buried in deep cover to help do it. During one of the missions, in fact, it's revealed how deep into NCR territory the Legion plants have really gotten - their own officers were working for the enemy.
But all those elements were loyal to Caesar, who dies from a brain tumor in every ending but the one where you help the Legion win, or in a Wildcard ending where you turn on the Legion at the last second.
I can't justify the Wild Card traitor ending, but in every other meeting with Lanaius, the death of Caesar is a major political event and the pressing issues of the war is all that's keeping the Legion united. After the war ends, they'll fall to infighting and the Legion will likely fracture, which is why Lanaius genuinely does need to regroup and consolidate the power he believes he can hold - taking the dam would only wear his forces down and make him weak to his rivals at his back, and let's be frank, Lanaius isn't popular.
Convincing Lanaius to abandon the dam in his own self interest follows logic that ended numerous Roman wars. It happened all the time, where a legion would be deployed fighting some foe in Anatolia, and then they'd suddenly pack up and rush home because some asshole senator was voting to make the Roman general into a non-citizen.

Lily's so fucking underwhelming in combat it's hard to bother keeping her around. Might as well just make her take her meds and retire her.
Brandon Brown
In any case, brain tumor or not, Caesar will die sooner or later and with him the legion.
Carter Martin
New Vegas has definitely shown it's age and I would say it's harder to get into than 3 in 2019. New Vegas has a slow pacing up until you get to Mr. House
>combat feels so horrific where you end up using VATS every 2 seconds to compensate for it
Imagine being this bad. This is a new level of retarded
Nicholas Harris
you have to make a new game to play as the improved models though, they're races you select
Sebastian Rivera
cue a billion zoomers claiming 3 is the best fallout game
Mason Sanchez
it is worth playing because the story gets interesting. however if you're not into exploration, looting, searching for skillbooks to raise your skills, this might not be the game for you. Stick with it I'd say until about level 12. If you're not having fun and are not interested in the story, it's better to just drop it.
Julian Scott
New Vegas is the best game of all time.
Jason Collins
I'd say it picks up once you make it to outer vegas. Unless you manage to head north from Goodsprings and cheese it past the deathclaws and cazadores, you're pretty much stuck following a relatively linear path where you visit some quiet towns and settlements, do a handful of straightforward quests, and receive your introductions to both the NCR and the Legion.
Everything from Goodsprings to Novac is a slow paced and longwinded introductory segment that settles you in to the game and gives you a rough idea of the Mojave's politics, and then once you make past Novac, the training wheels come off and you're suddenly thrown in to a much bigger world.
Jonathan Jenkins
Project Nevada makes it more accesible to a newcomer. Also check out nexus and pick out 30-50 mods that look good
Adrian Brown
I'm gald you dislike it zoom-shitter it was not meant for you anyways
Josiah Walker
OP probably went and bought it on console like a retard. The gameplay is definitely outdated but mods can make it much better.
