This will be fucking mint, but by giving the player so much, they're also killing the 2d mario franchise as we know it. Can you imagine another 2d mario ever coming out after this?

People said the same exact shit during Mario Maker 1. Yet New Soup Deluxe still sold millions
It won't kill 2D Mario, doesn't have world creation for that exact reason, I think.
Yes, and here's how: use the art style of pic related, create tons of new assets, hazards, enemy types and settings, implement your typical 60-80 levels, AND include a Mario Maker toolset and sharing function within that game which exclusively uses the new tools and assets.
Every new game can have exclusive Maker functions that continue to maintain a separate identity.
But thats because there was no 2d mario for the switch yet
I love Super Mario World. Its physics are perfect, its aesthetic is the perfect level of cartoony without being pure oversaturated candy, its music is perfect, its level design is perfect, the variety is perfect
It's a perfect game
The only thing missing is a Lost Levels sequel of similar but harder stages
>so much
There is less than half the assets of the new super mario bros series in maker's editor. You couldn't even recreate level 1-1 identically, not counting backgrounds. If there were really ALL the stuff from all games, now that would be problematic. But at this point we are far from making 2d games useless. And btw you would need a computer to create levels with more depth than 45 percents slopes everywhere
Let's be honest though, a lot of these blow.
Oh yeah I play hacks but they're not official, I was only talking in the context of official content sorry for confusion
The downvote button looks like the best thing they added.
I hope you can do an endless challenge of levels filtered by tags, like endless puzzles maybe.
>reddit terminology
It's called a dislike you fucking huuuuuuge huuuuuge nigggger nigger ggeig nigger fag
>fucking mint
There's been two Mario Makers released and a fucking port of NSMBU still sold like 6 million copies so you're not only already proven wrong but retarded to think this
"Boo button" if you like, I don't visit reddit the vocab must be seeping into me.
Can I make a game with this? Like can I make a collection of levels that will be played back to back or do I have to split them up and just title them in order?
One released on a dead console and the other was a shitty port of the first
>endless automatic stages
>they're also killing the 2d mario franchise as we know it
>Develop a new visual style with new enemies
There, done, it didn't require a rocket scientist to figure it out.
What controller are you all using for SMM2? Are these any good?
This.
Nintendo put limitations on these games to ensure users don't outdo them at making mario levels. Why do you think we cant place lava outside of the castle theme or now water outside of the forest theme.
We can't even make accurate Ghost Houses in the NSMBU style because of the lack of illusionary walls.
Sunshine, Galaxy, Odyssey or SMB2 as the other extra style?
I don't really mind, the NSMB's are kinda shit in their presentation and it's what we've been given as 2d mario games for the better part of a decade. The graphics are soulless and they give off a feeling that there was a lack of effort. i know that "soulless" is a meme but it genuinely feels like a robot took what it thought the essence of a mario game is and looks like and spat it out, all the NSMB games feel like they lack personality and identity beyond being "mario"
no custom world maps so, no.
I'm hoping for sunshine, but I'm expecting Odyssey.
