It's the best at what it does, absolutely.

Black is methodical, defense/reaction focused and feels more grounded and strategic. 2 is fast paced, heavily weighted toward offense and feels much more "seat of your pants."

NGB makes you sweat while NG2 makes your heart race. They each scratch a different itch but no game comes close to what each one did.

Sigma is fine. Sigma 2 is an abomination.

What actually is the difference between Sigma and Black?

I’m playing Sigma due to not having an Xbox, and the only difference I can see based on videos is that some bosses have mooks help them out.

Sigma added more character-specific stages which no one really likes, since the gals are not as fleshed out as Ryu combat-wise.

What's the point of an action game if there's no constant threat and back and forth?

I just finished Black for the first time and started on NG2, but so far I feel Black is better. I'm not very far into NG2 yet though, still a good experience so far.

To be fair, enemies in DMC3 on higher difficulties than normal and especially on Very Hard DMD are very aggressive still, just not Ninja Gaiden-tier aggressive.

Ninja Gaiden Black is 10x better than GoW 2018 and FFXV (both games are braindead button simulator that only depends on flashy moves). NGB might probably be the best action game ever made (on par with the Bayonetta and DMC series)

NGB doesnt have buttonmashing or QTEs. Also the cutscenes are shorter and set you up for a hype fight instead of being the coolest part of the fight

I don't know what this is supposed to imply. DMC is great and its combo system is great, but given that NG has completely different priorities an elaborate DMC combo video isn't going to convert anyone. I like both, but largely for different reasons.
They're more aggressive, but that really only means that a fuck-up is more punishing. It doesn't really change the overall flow or nature of the gameplay. The more important factor is how higher difficulties change enemy placements/combinations, not so much the aggression or even health.

Sigma 1 adds side character stages and retools some mechanics. There's some genuinely good stuff like quick item use and some of the new graphics are nice.
It's a lot easier though and the new shit is mostly forgettable, not to mention performance is iffy. I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be but I wouldn't recommend it over Black.

Sigma 2 is a trash port that takes away just as much as it adds. The mission mode is different and multiplayer centric which is pointless because no one wants to play NG coop unless it's a very specific circumstance.
The performance is unbearable and most effects like blood are toned down to comical extent.
Even if there wasn't such terrible cutbacks, Sigma 2 views NG2 in a much dumber light and the design choices showcase that.

Game Wars are never usually about converting the other side, but rather flaunting one's superiority, which is fairly easy here since Ninja Gaiden not only looks and plays boringly, but NGfags don't ever post gameplay aside from those two spammed NG2 combo videos.

The NES games are all about handling enemies with forward movement; maintaining momentum through a level is pivotal and it's the biggest difference between NES Ninja Gaiden and other 2D action games like Sunsoft Batman, Shatterhand, etc. They emphasize platforming as much as combat. Itagaki's games have platforming, but it's generally not in tandem with combat.

the difference between sigma and black arent too big and its fun to see the differences it isnt really that special. If you didnt already beat black on the higher difficulties I would do that.

For sigma 2 its really different. They cut the amount of enemies drastically.

Make sure to play the higher difficulties as well. There is a lot of enemies you never see on normal that are on hard, bosses get normal enemies as allies, forcing you to learn to avoid the boss and take care of the small fry before you can attack them, and the amount of stuff you get is lowered (like no devil elixers). Its like a whole new game.

I would say that normal pretty much is bootcamp for hard. By taking away access to cheap ninpo, adding normal enemies to bosses, changing many encounters, and doing many other things to remove any crutches you could have used, it really is the next level.

That's still not the same thing as what the NES games do or even particularly close. PS2 Shinobi is actually closer, though still different. Ninja Gaiden at its core is more like a 3D beat 'em up. Despite its differences it's still ultimately far closer to DMC than the NES games.
