One of the best? yes
the best? nope
Shut up fag it's mediocre at best
It's really good. Like, in the top 5 of all time. But you gotta admit, the game gets a little tiresome and falls apart near the end.
Salt and Sanctuary is leagues better. Hollow Knight has some of the most clunky garbage controls and physics I've ever seen in a platformer. There's no sense of momentum and the controls fail to respond at critical times leading to walking off the edge of platforms when you meant to jump.
you are just bad at it
The controls are as basic and as standard as you can get from a plataformer.
Try actually holding the controller with two hands, maybe that will help
I loved it, but it's not the best
Symphony of the Night is
not an argument
>not an arugment
Thats what someone says when they know the other person has a point but are just a pussy to reply
Platformers are one of my favorite genres. I consider myself something of a platformer connoisseur. And Hollow Knight has shit tier controls. When I tried it I found myself failing basic jumps that I could have made in pretty much any other platformer. The clunky controls were more of a problem than any of the actual enemies. I actually quit the game on a platforming segment, not a boss.
>you are just bad at it
Thats what someone says when they know the other person has a point but are just a pussy to reply
I agree. But it's really not that far off from the others I like
That wasn't me. See my rely here
SnS is literally just 2D Dark Souls in gameplay and mechanics. The only thing that's remotely different about it is the creed system, but it's hands down just 2D Dark Souls
You both are the minority
How did this game sell millions and tons of people completed it with shit controls?
It feels like a flash game. It's okay.
>play hockey
>suck at it
>wow this game is just dumb and handling the stick is clunky
How do Call of Duty and Far Cry sell millions every year without fail? Expecting the majority to be a good judge of quality is laughable
Anyone who believes this has either never played any castlevania after that, or has a huge nostalgiaboner for it. All 3 DS games are better than SotN. The inverted castle is garbage and the bosses ended up being random enemies in future entries because that's all they deserve.
I don't know if it's just my computer being old as shit, but the input lag in this game in the worst I've ever experienced, had to stop playing within like 5 minutes.
>the minority is the only correct opinion
Fine
Order of Ecclesia then
I really hate "Metroidvania's" and Hollow Knight was my 2017 GOTY, which says a lot about its quality.
The atmosphere, music, sound design, character designs, tight gameplay, everything is near perfect in my opinion.
It's truly a testament to the quality of your gameplay when you can near flawlessly transition from combat-based platforming to a Super Meatboy styled platforming segment
S&S is a 2D ARPG/Souls clone.
The classes, builds and replayability are great, but those are not staples of Metroidvanias.
HK has a better map and is much longer overall, though the world in SnS is really cool.
It felt off to me on Switch at first too, but after like 30 minutes I got used to it. I ended up playing 40+ hours, clearing all bullshit endgame platforming amd bosses, and couldn't notice the input lag anymore, I even forgot it existed in the first place until I read your post. It's weird
Sorry if I sounded like an ass there, I get angry when people ignore or even hate the games released after the first because it's the one they played when they were kids
I'm surprised people still shitpost this with falseflag bait.
Keep your energy lad. Wait for Silksong.
Rain world sold like shit and it's an excellent game. Popularity means nothing if the entire population has shit taste
> the controls fail to respond at critical times leading to walking off the edge of platforms when you meant to jump.
You sound like you're just bad or have a shit controller
Jesus fuck those aussie cunts said they were going to give us monthly updates.
GIVE ME MORE INFO ON HORNET'S BUG PUSSY YOU FUCKS
When the fuck is Silksong coming out? I'm having withdrawals over here.
>and the controls fail to respond at critical times
Yeah, and the game lags too just at the worst times, there's no way it's MY fault that I died, it's the game's fault!
Hey there King, wanna /ss/?
what metroidvania should I play while waiting for Hornet`s game? Only played SoTN, La Mulanas and Metroid Fusion
Super Metroid
Rain World
Maybe Hyper Light Drifter?
Environmental Station alpha
those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head
Environment Station Alpha
Rabi-Ribi
AM2R
Valdis Story
Aria of Sorrow
Dawn of Sorrow
Rain World but this is more of a 2D open world game.
Metroid Zero Mission is good too, Super Metroid is regarded as the best but it feels floaty after playing the other games
Castlevania Order of Ecclesia is nice too, but the first half is kinda weak
I have it on PC. The lag is so bad on my laptop from 2011 that you can actually see a delay after pressing the button. Maybe upwards of half a second.
I also have a switch and was thinking about buying there, but not sure I wanna take the risk if it's not my computer and just how the game is.
I think I noticed the lag because I saw people talking about it before I bought it, but it wasn't anywhere close to half a second.
Now that I think about it, it's probably the jump physics that gave me the impression of input lag, the longer you hold the button the higher you jump, and there's a few frames of animation before the character jumps. there's no noticeable delay when you attack
how about Guacamelee? is it good?
Never played it, heard it was good though
It's okay.
It was free on humble bundle from May 16-19. If you got it there, no reason not to try it
t. Zoomer
Since this is the metroidvania thread, why did those autistic hot pockets delete the Rabi-ribi thread?
>the controls fail to respond at critical times
Ori is better, and if Blind Forest is not, Will of the Wisps will be the best 2D game of all time
I literally dont understand this, fuck is wrong with you people
The only good part of Ori was the bash.
If Hollow Knight is the best metroidvania then I suppose the bar for that title is set really fucking low right now.
kill yourself
>best 2D game of all time
Is and always will be Donkey Kong Country 1
Nah.
I just realized that moths irl are drawn to the light and in game their god is radiance.
it's the most gorgeous but not sure about the best, the guy behind AM2R is working on it tho
Is this game done releasing DLC? Waiting on that for a replay.
It's been done for months now lad.
it is, they've turned the last dlc into a new game
This. Hollow Knight could very well be the worst game I ever played. There's tons of lag (I keep dying despite being really good at games) and the story makes no sense.
>sequel has a female protag
Defends this Hollowtards.
6. The quality of posts is extremely important to this community. Contributors are encouraged to provide high-quality images and informative comments.
>Female Protag is your hot, skinny half sister
Is there any reason not to hate that?
KARAMA
based and silkpilled
Silksong is literally soulless.
>A Half-Spider Half-Autist bug that doesn't steal the very soul of her enemies to use as magic
>Soulless
I bet you also think vessels are worthy to have emotions too, you fucking void-lover
HOW
Have you seen the trailers? It looks even more beautiful than the first game.
You heard me. Did you see the trailer? Fucking soulless. HK was filled with soul.
>Maybe I'll stretch my legs again
How was this not hinting at a boss fight?
She meant spreading her legs, you baka
>Implying the MC had soul to begin with
>Implying he didn't have to steal soul constantly
>Implying he hasn't been anything but a soulless, emotionless bug that killed innocent bugs just to feel something
>emotionless bug
>saves Zote
>saves Bretta
>helps Grey Mourner find peace
The Vessel was indeed filled with compassion.
Compassion my ass, it was built as a hollow killing machine hell bent on turning civilization into a void-filled disaster. Were it not for him hallownest would be fine and dandy, everyone would be safe and happy, and there'd be no Sawtist running around ruining things like he usually did.
do people actually get the story as they play the game? I had no idea what was happening throughout, am I retarded?
People only think hollow knight is good because we haven't gotten a new igavania or 2D metroid since the 2000s.
The combat sucks, especially before you unlock the spells
Damage knockback kills combat flow
the drop on death mechanic is stupid and discourages exploration far from save points
Have to fill out maps yourself, including BUYING map markers for saves, healing spots, etc.
Pacing is terrible, especially in the first couple hours
Some of the least fun I've had with a metroidvania.
This post, it has the smell of infection upon it.
Now look at what Hornet uses and what the knight uses.
Absolutely souless.
Yes you are
Samus Returns came out in 2017 mate.
I don't know what you're talking about user, all we smell is the sick sweetly scent of freedom.
Yo mama so fat yo entire hive be her coffin
Samus returns is a remake, not a new game.
You have embarrassed me. For this I will have satisfaction.
We're never going to get a good 2D metroid game again user. Maybe the new Prime will deliver.
And hey, Bloodstained soon.
you take that back you fluke
Finally did it yesterday, lads.
Nope keep dreaming zoomer trash PFFT HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
It cannot be done.
Played it and was let down from all the hype. Super metroid, though, that game is timeless.
it is for me, i tried other games of the genre, tried SotN and OoE, reached the chimera and a giant crab you fight in an elevator respectively, turns out i don't enjoy the genre, i simply liked hollow knight, maybe because its a rip off from dark souls storywise and i am a sucker for hard shit, but it definitely is the best of this genre by a longshot for me
Ori is too linear, the only thing you have to backtrack for are shitty trinkets
Plague infused hands typed this post.
Daily reminder that nightmare king Grimm is the best fight, second being the sisters of battle
Excuse me, actual best fight coming on through
There is a lot of stuff you can miss if you don't think about it or pay attention to the dialogue.
The main story is obvious, side stuff is subtly implied, deep lore is half guess work.
You can catch it on a second play through.
It's good but I wish the difficulty didn't come almost solely from the bosses which often feel a bit on the bs side until you learn their patterns. Outside of bosses, I think I only died 2-3 times.
>Damage knockback kills combat flow
What? It IS the combat flow. You use the momentum to dance through foes and land multiple hits on bosses. Are you being bad and just mashing attack and wondering why you just get one hit in each time?
For me it's trying to do jumping segments that require me to hit something. My keyboard just doesn't cooperate.
Someone definitely did the trial of the fool, white castle and the path of pain.
I agree
They needed more enemies with specific attacks that did two blips of damage. Infinite healing is a bitch.
>keyboard
I can't imagine playing this without a controller.
I'd consider the trials almost like bosses as you're locked in a room with little time to heal. But yeah, didn't bother with path of pain.
>Outside of bosses, I think I only died 2-3 times.
Yeah, you totally did.
Keyboard is great with good keybinds
It's awful. Currently trying to beat Trail of the Fool and getting nowhere.
i didn't enjoy it. it felt too basic. i also hate metroidvanias cause of the ability cucking. literally not fun, trash mechanic needing to grind some coins for being able to press a button which unlocks the item or finding something thats put on your way. platforming is also bad. its modern game made in modern engine, no reason why you should cuck the player with controls. it'd be better if were more fast paced and less vania and darksouls larping
>Z-dash
>X-jump
>C-attack
Beat PoH with this setup, works just fine
I agree with this. It's the best game on switch. And it's one of the best but not the best. And the whole find your soul thing made it worse
1. Super Metroid
2. Hollow Knight
3. Zero Mission
Prove me wrong
Maridia single handedly lowers Super from spot 1 to 2. Otherwise I agree with your list.
you're not wrong to put Hollow Knight inbetween the good 2D metroid games
This never happened to me
Sounds like user error
Anyone of you actually completed PoP?
Of course.
Half the thread? You don't even need autism, it takes like 1-1.5 hours to do.
Can't find a google drive link to the latest version.
...
Pandering is okay if it panders to my dick
Haha, I'm never gonna make it
It did nothing new, but it did it very well and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that
There is literally nothing wrong with Meridia apart from the quicksand.
>Yea Forums shills La Mulana as the best metroidvania ever
>play it
>movement and platforming mechanics are a putrid clunky SHIT, straight out of 80s where they were dictated by technical limitations
>movement speed is ridiculously slow even with speed upgrade
>barely any exploration changing abilities beyond double jump, feels more like a puzzle game than a real metroidvania
>combat is so primitive the game would literally win without it, axe breaks the game and wrecks even the final boss and you can get it early
>some puzzles are obtuse garbage
How is HK any different?
>barely any exploration changing abilities beyond double jump, feels more like a puzzle game than a real metroidvania
Hollow Knight has plenty more
>mantis claw
>Isma's tear
>shade cloak
These all change how you move around in the world.
>combat is so primitive the game would literally win without it, axe breaks the game and wrecks even the final boss and you can get it early
Even with your fully upgraded Nail you can't do nearly enough damage to "wreck" a boss or break the game.
I judge the games to be quite different.
Movement speed isn't ridiculously slow.
Exploration abilities go beyond just a double jump.
Combat is on the level of action-platformers, given a lot more focus than in a usual metroidvania.
No puzzles at all. Secret and well-hidden areas are all non-mandatory.
>Even with your fully upgraded Nail you can't do nearly enough damage to "wreck" a boss or break the game
Not true at all. Having 3 upgrades makes the game unsatisfyingly easy, having all 4 upgrades outright breaks the game. Starting with 3 upgrades and the right charms you can facetak most bosses without any real strategy.
Bullshit, I'm too bad at the game for this to apply.
I fucking love Hollow Knight but I don't think any metroidvania will ever surpass Super Metroid.
>have nail+3 or nail+4
>equip quick slash, joni's, stalwart shell
>literally don't dodge and spam the attack button
>win
It doesn't matter how good or bad you are, you LITERALLY don't have to do anything but stay in range and press attack.
Took 2 hours or so, but yeah. Really, I found Trial of the Fool to be far, far, FAR worse, but that's really only because I could take my time with PoP and it didn't have a floorless arena.
Why can't I beat Trial of the Fool this way?
I'm playing with a DS4 myself but supposedly all the speedrunners and top HK players are using keyboards for faster input.
Go ahead and record yourself doing PoH this way.
>PoH
Optional post-game challenges don't count, retard, the actual game IS trivial with the pure nail. Also, in case you are too dumb to notice, all PoH bosses have their health scaled up almost twofold precisely because that's the damage difference between the pure nail and the sharpened one..
Yeah, NKG, Radiance, GPZ, actual endgame bosses that you fight when you have pure nail sure are trivial with it :^)
>early game bosses have their health scaled up for endgame challenges
Wow, you don't say retard.
At the point where you get the pure nail the only things you have to do in the game is one or two bosses and the endgame dlc retard.
>the top 1% of the game isn't trivial therefore there's no issue with the other 99%
Listen to yourself. And btw, NKG and Zote are, once again, optional content added post-launch specifically for hardcore players. The only two main-game bosses that can't be facetanked are Radiance and Traitor Lord.
So what you're saying is that you can beat the end-game content trivially after upgrading your weapons, which requires you to travel all around the map to obtain the materials to do so, in the process sending you through much of what the game has to offer to begin with?
I see, I see. So it's like that.
When you have all the upgrades and all the charms they are literally the only thing you have left in the game tard.
On a typical first-time playthrough you have coiled nail before you even get the double jump. Go ahead and tell me that dealing triple the normal damage each hit doesn't make the rest of the game piss easy.
No you don't retard.
>>some puzzles are obtuse garbage
based retard
user you can stop now.
Right. I forgot that the HK physicals and that wanderer's journal are going to ship out soon.
>People only think hollow knight is good because we haven't gotten a new igavania or 2D metroid since the 2000s
just wrong mate why do you chat such rubbish
It's probably the only dedicated one I had played and it was pretty good.
I was impressed with how good the controls are and how well-designed are levels in the context of several "powerful" unlockable movement abilities
Based Rabi-Ribi threads are not advertiser friendly.
>grind
You don't ever have to grind in this game
You are. I mean, there's details and some small nuances that aren't as apparent until you play it a second time, but the general plot is pretty easy to follow.
>Bugs in awe of Radiance
>Pale King comes along and says "fuck Radiance you worship me now"
>Bugs gain sentience and erase everything concerning Radiance from the world
>Kingdom of Hallownest is born
>Memories still linger in dreams, bringing about the infection
>Pale King needs to stop it, discovers Void and makes thousands of vessels
>Finally creates the Hollow Knight
>But was too much of a proud daddy so Hollow Knight wasn't fully empty (compassion and that shit)
>Failed to contain the infection and shit got rekt
>You don't ever have to grind in this game
And the game does a shit job of communicating that to players. The first merchant you unlock sells items that cost 1-2k geo when your basic enemies still drop 2-3 per kill. There's no way of knowing you won't need those items until later, and, in fact, the game actively teases you with the locked door and the dark cave, neither of which actually leads to anywhere worthwhile. No is there a way of knowing there won't be any more merchants with expensive items for the rest of the game rendering geo obsolete.
Where the fuck do I go on this game?
I've cleared the game twice with kb+m and really don't feel the difference between controller, minus the fact that you can play on a sofa.
Your geo is never obsolete, it's impossible to play through the entire game and still have more than you need for everything.
But a reasonable person isn't going to sit and grind in one room, they'll continue exploring while killing things for cash. And while exploring you find large one time deposits of geo to further incentive exploring instead of grinding
Go down
Then left
Then down
Then right for a while
Then up, then left
Then fight the boss
Then talk to the shaman
Unlock the spell
Then go left past the enemy you couldn't hit before
Then follow the Green Path. But remember:
Those who stray from the White King's roads shall face the law of Unn.
it's great fun. it tells you where to go most of the game so the main focus is on the combat and platforming rather than exploration, but there's still a lot to collect off the beaten path, and it can be quite hard in places too
The only things you even want to buy early on are maps are charms. And they already tell you what they do before you buy them. In what game are you to believe that you're supposed to buy out the entire shop before progressing?
You're just real fuckin stupid.
probably my favourite MV after Super Metroid. hopefully will of the wisps is a massive step up and not just more of the same like we got with Guaca2
>Your geo is never obsolete, it's impossible to play through the entire game and still have more than you need for everything
Hello? They added a DLC merchant that asks for 36k geo to give you nothing in return simply because that's how much excess geo there was in the game.
>that vessel fragment in the deep nest with the centipede pogoing
Really activates my PTSD
Yes and thanks to the merchant your geo is never wasted.
Exploration in Hollow Knight is boring and the map is huge just for the sake of being huge.
Pro tip: If you don't have enough interesting things to fill your big gameworld with then don't make it big.
Also, it's of course a staple of Metroid style games to start you out with less movement options and gradually giving you more and more, but Hollow Knight takes so much away that the first 4 hours or so of the game are literally painfully slow. Secondly movement in this game isn't intrinsically fun so traversing the map just to get to some other spot you need to check out is very boring and tedious.
Cool bosses though.
I'd give it a solid 5/10.
Of course i dropped it after about 8 hours.
I found Zero Mission extremely underwhelming. It's solid enough and fun to play, but it's extremely basic and I think that holds it back a lot.
>see a locked door and a dark cave in the starting area
>see a key and a lantern in the starting area's shop
>DUDE, HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY THINK YOU NEED THOSE ITEMS, WHAT ARE YOU, STUPID?
Based.
>see other completely open paths
>nope, better grind up money to buy that key
>look at how expensive the items are
>compare that to your income
>Hmm, this stuff is probably meant for use later on
This is the thought process of a normal person. And here's you:
>look at how expensive the items are
>compare that to your income
>WHAT THE FUCK WHY DO I HAVE TO GRIND THIS LONG TO PROGRESS THIS GAME SUCKS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
You can see that one of these is based off of reason, logic and gaming experience, and the other is a load of wankery.
>play a metroidvania game
>see a zone that is difficult to get into
>better grind for hours instead of saving it for later
Yes, easily the best by a longshot. I'm really excited for Silksong.
>On a typical first-time playthrough you have coiled nail before you even get the double jump
Stop being retarded.
more like shallow knight
Hollow Knight seemed like it had great atmosphere and a well executed Soulslike world story told in little pieces. But I don't understand how anybody played this game for long enough to get involved in the lore when the combat, general gameplay and RPG elements are as basic and uninteresting as they are.
Maybe it's all the zoomers that never played a bog standard platformer before, who found jumping between platforms and swinging an instant attack with no real recovery or weight behind it fresh and engaging? Who knows.
Yeah, it is. It's one of the only video games in my life where I haven't thought to myself
>Hmm I'd've done this differently
Just a joy to play through.
Will of the Wisps has melee in it. If the game randomly breaks out into Soulslike combat in the middle of the most gorgeous 2D metroidvania of all time I might just die in awe.
There a few things I wish I could tweak about the game. Like more instances of two health damage and more fucked hazards like the ones in Fog Canyon spread in the world. The bigger thing is wishing Fury of the Fallen was incremental once you dropped to about 25% health instead of being active only when you have 1 pip.
Only autistic speedrunners use it in its current iteration.
youtube.com
Are you using an N64 controller? I had troubles with 360 controller but there were some easy fixes. I got all the achievements with 360 controller, so it sounds like you're just shit at the game or have a shit controller.
Dead Cells is better than both.
>five or six absolutely shit bosses
>no story or lore
>final boss literally spews memes at you when you beat him
>so little content you need to artificially extend the game with rougelite formula where you need to waste over an hour between each attempt against the endgame bosses
meh it was like a 6/10 not really bad but way too focused on the shallow combat and drab setting quite like dark souls which i gather is a massive inspiration for this
Hit me with your autism user. What would you tweak exactly?
i agree
ROFLROFL YOu cannot be serious homie
>draw a human body with le funny cartoon face
>call it a bug
Best visual design of all time at least, bet the gameplay is just as exquisite.
>metroidvania
Garbage genre for brainlets anyway. No one who has ever uttered that word has ever had anything of worth to say.
These
I'm tired of these threads, I'm tired of being constantly angry against this game without a glimpse of originality.
Are you complaining that it’s not an accurate representation of a bug?
it's an already established character which was not created as le stronk wemen in the first place and shoehorned into the game, so it's not an issue in the slightest.
Salt & Sanctuary suffers from a real lack of having its own identity but i still enjoyed that game a lot.
Exploration was done very well, and the level design was as good as you could hope for for a 2D version of Dark Souls. Wish some of the aerial combos you could pull off were more useful though.
Off the top of my head:
>Fog Canyon is fine as the explosive shit hole that it is
>Greenpath and Crossroads are fine because they're starting areas
>Fungal Wastes has those explosives too but I think it needed to be paired with the bouncy shrooms more
>they overused the suicide bats a bit too much as the "two damage" hazards for a lot of areas
>Crystal Peaks is actually one of the best areas because of how varied it is so that's fine too
>Pale Lurker had potential, it would have been great if there was an enemy like that in Deepnest that just annoyed the fuck out of you from a distance
>Ancient Basin is too small of an area even if it technically has the White Palace and the Abyss in it
>Kingdom's Edge needed to have its mega hoppers deal two pips of damage if they landed perfectly on top of you
>Queen's Gardens needed those wall hoppers into more areas while the mantises there needed to have a special wind-up attack that dealt two pips of damage mirroring Traitor Lord
>City of Tears is almost perfect BUT I would love if there were stray teleport goons in other areas of the map or if they had smaller version of the big shielded guards there
>Royal Waterways is great too but a gimmick where the level would constantly have flowing water/flood was a missed opportunity
>Infected Crossroads is great but the enemies were a waste, would have love if they slowly infected the rest of the world
For bosses:
>Dung/White Defender needed to have the corner cheese removed this would have been the perfect place to implement slopes
>Ascended version of Watcher Knights needs to get rid of the "only fight two at a time" gimmick
>Soul Tyrant and Lost Kin needed to have one special attack that dealt two damage
>would have been great if Hive Knight had a special attack that sent a massive bee barreling into the arena
>Markoth's default stage should have been the Ascended Markoth one
>Gorb is a meme but I wish his final phase was just a clusterfuck of garbage for full meme
Complete accuracy is also rarely a good thing in art, but they could have at least drawn some inspiration from real insects. This is legit just a human with a bone helmet, nothing about it reminds the viewer of insects. It's also quite boring as a result. And I don't really get why that's the case either. SOME of the enemies have interesting bug-related designs, but others are just this low-effort garbage. You would think the game's fucking protagonist would fall into the former category, but alas.
To be fair, the MC and its ilk weren't really actual bugs.
What the fuck are these ideas you masochist?
Don't pull this card on me, bro. The game explicitly tells you the protag was made in the image of normal bugs. Some other characters that are supposed to be completely normal bugs (Hornet, Zote, flower lady in the city, the old guy) also have the same cartoon humanoid look. It's like the game wasn't actually supposed to be about bugs at first and when they switched they didn't bother to redo the old designs.
>It's like the game wasn't actually supposed to be about bugs at first
Well you're not wrong. The PC's design was conceived even before they had any idea that Hollow Knight was going to be a thing. So yes you're right, they actually never had any bug in mind when designing the knight.
The MC is designed to be small so he can have a smaller hit box. That was the primary aspect to his design.
What kind of crazy explanation is that? Sly is even smaller than the protag, yet he doesn't look like a funko pop.
I can't get behind those ideas. If only HK wasn't such a piece of shit to mod.
>If only HK wasn't such a piece of shit
FTFY
Pale Prince and Ultimatum Radiance are peak modded bosses. So fucking fun to fight.
Holy shit, imagine getting angry at a game because people like it and you don't.
YOU DO NOT MAKE THREADS ABOUT GAMES I DON'T LIKE RETARD THIS IS MY BOARD I PAY TAXES DAMMIT
>the controls fail to respond at critical times leading to walking off the edge of platforms when you meant to jump.
Hollow Knight's controls and physics are actually perfect. The only reason you'd say this is because you walk off a ledge, then press A then you go "WHY DIDN'T IT JUMP WTF".
well maybe if you stopped not liking games, you wouldn't get mad about people making threads about them
Rabi Ribi is my fave but it's all good
I disagree
It's a good game but
>compass takes up a badge notch but the lantern doesn't
>the ability to dash downward requires another badge
>a game with is much back tracking should have more save points than it does
The non linear progression is great though. I was doing two simultaneous playthoughs, one for screen capture, and the routes I took are completely different.
Yes. I don't know how the fuck anyone got through all of it in just 1-2 hours, I spent probably upwards of 6 hours total across 3 sessions. I mean it requires damn near frame perfect timing at several points. I wish I had known the area was made for the biggest tryhards before I jumped into it, I would've saved it for later or just ignored it in that case, but once I had already started on it I didn't want to stop. I also never closed the game between those 3 sessions so I wouldn't have to start over at any point. Although at some points I wish I had started over to pick better charms. The most important one is probably hiveblood and the grubfriend one, you'll never die with those as long as you're patient. Longnail/mark of pride and quick slash would probably make some of the platforming easier too. Sharp shadow is probably a bad thing to use since the area is designed with the normal dash length in mind.
Also I hope you don't think you're getting a reward out of it. All you get is a little snippet of lore which will be meaningless to you if you don't already understand the backstory.
No sorry. You are just an ignorant and blind fanboy who needs a good punch in the face. Which actually any fanboy really needs to see the true buty of any game and see that there actually is NO best/perfect one.
Why couldn't we fight him while he was wearing that?
So they wouldn't have to animate it.
