You should also play Ocarina of Time first, if you haven't already. Majora's Mask is kind of designed for people who have already played OoT. Otherwise you won't get the same feeling.

A great "sequel" to OoT. Not that you have to play OoT but it does feel like a complete set to me. Personally, the side quest of MM make it my favorite Zelda game. One of my biggest problems with BotW was how lame a lot of the side quests were.
Tried and get the Inverted Song of Time asap to slow down the passage of time. The three days is usually enough time to open up the next dungeon. Reset time and then go beat the dungeon.
