Can I have a Resident Evil thread please?

I just finished my first play through of RE2. It was my first RE game and I really want more. I know the series has had a weird history and has changed a lot. What should I do next? What period was the series the most like RE2. It looks like they didn't become modern games until RE4. I need more information/help.

The essentials for the "classic" style games are RE1, RE2, RE3 and the RE1 remake. The other games that play similarly are RE0 and Code Veronica. These are still enjoyable but only play them if you finished the others and you just want more.

The essential "modern" RE games are RE4, RE7 and the RE2 remake. RE5 is good if you have a coop parter. RE6 is good if you have a coop partner but only in mercenaries mode. The main campaign isnt great. The Revelations games are both okay. Only play them if you've played all of the others and are starving for more. Both games side mode (Raid mode) are arguably better than the main campaigns.
