No one likes going outside and spending a dollar for each life

>nintendie arcade cabs
Criiiiinge

I played this at dave and busters

its not that good

Because you're a faggot.

You can still find them in chuck E cheese, you manchild.

arcades were impressive before the genesis/snes era, then they started to see real competition.

then 3D happened, and everyone at the time wanted all their games to be 3D. arcades werent too good at that, in the west anyway. they went down in popularity. then the ps2 happened, and they were fucking doomed.

Because games became available at home at affordable prices for both consoles and games.

despite

But that's probably less money than current vidya

>asking why did arcades while posting one of the most boring and readily available arcade racing games in the US today.

I think you can answer that question for yourself

There was this one arcade I went to as a kid (I was born in 96 so I never got to see arcades during their full hype) but the one my brother always took me too as a kid in the early 2000s wasnt that good. It had a very meh collection (the typical cash grab money/ticket eating games and a bunch of popular 2D fighters/side scrolls (MK, SF, Simpsons etc etc) and looking back on it that shit was kinda lame. Only reason I'm fond of it was cause it was a nostalgic time for me. Like why would i spend hours playing shit in there when I had my PS2 back home where I could literally play shit like GTA Vice City, FFX etc etc

Americans didn't get hooked on pachinko like Japs did. The only reason arcades in Japan and mobile gaming are a thing is cause of crippling gambling addictions.

>isolationist technology
>people too stupid to know how to interact irl
pick both

IGNORE ALL THE OTHER POSTS IN THIS THREAD! THIS IS THE ONLY CORRECT ANSWER:

They stopped being profitable. This is mostly due to skyrocketing utility costs in the 90s. Do you have any idea how much their electric bills were? Then there were the increased taxes and especially land value going up, which meant it also cost more to rent to property. They just flat out stopped being able to operate profitably. Anything anyone tells you beyond that is bullshit.

fuck, my brother's friend brought his saturn over december 31st of 1994 and we rang in the new year playing daytona and nights into dreams.
fuck. it was so pure.

That and people just stopped going. I remember towards the end times going with my friend and being the only ones in the whole place. The only ones that still actually had people in them were the ones attached to a bar or restaurant.

The same reason malls died in america.
Our country is designed with everyone owning a car in mind. Nobody walks anywhere because everything is so spread out because of everything being built around cars. The whole country is just parking lots and highways. Also America has the second biggest average house size with massive lawns. In asia you walk everywhere and with the high density population more types of businesses can survive. 90% of middle america is just becoming abandoned buildings and walmarts. Fuck this shithole country we need to build a Toyko in america
