They don't really want to do that, they are making more Pokemon movies but they've pretty much said all Pokemon is canon to each other these days so its technically feeding the "everything needs to be connected" crowd.
Still you get great articles like that one that claimed Pokemon is a dead franchise because no post credit scene.

It doesn't matter the scale, any video game movie is almost instantly ruined the instant ""creative liberties" are introduced to "bridge the gaps between gamers and [fucking casuals]". Like, they'd probably have half the characters be who's that aren't even playable because "audiences between 24 and 35 enjoy _____".

Capeshit needs to have a good story to sell well, and writers can help do that by allowing multiple guys to interact and fight with each other.
Smash needs to be fun to sell well. The only time anybody cared about story in smash is either you have the tism or you were young when brawl came out.

That's probably why there is still no 40k movie. The studios probably wanted to remove and negative aspects from the imperium so gw keeps reflecting them.

Maybe an anime OVA like that Pit vs. Link trailer, but Hollywood would rape every single character with awful writing and insist on live action which would further rape them all visually.

The only problem with it is that so many of the cast don't speak, or people don't LIKE it when they speak. If they go live action, that has a whole other host of problems. Also, who would be the big bad? The hands don't exactly come off as intimidating and over the years have become less evil and more just over seers.
