Never played it, what is it?
I got it from igggames and didn't like it
terrible simulation
I wish the devs didn't immediately abandon it but at least the mods are good
mods are awesome and with it being the last version we at least have a selection of developed mods.
It's dwarf fortress but more accessible. It has all the flaws while having different pros.
>start colony as a man and wife trying to build a space farm
>a pod crashes, it turns out to be the husband's father
>rescue him, dad joins the colony
>dad proceeds to seduce the wife and cuck his own son
>son flies into a rage and attacks his dad, loses an eye in the resulting fight
>this isn't good enough, after he recovers he goes back to his dad and starts another fight
>knocks out his old man
>the wife sees her new lover get knocked out, goes berserk and shoots her ex husband in the heart
>install rimjob world
>decide to copy Lost in Space for my colony without considering the implications
>immediately, and accidentally turn my colony into space Alabama
>can't stop the incest interbreeding until the man in black shows up randomly.
It's fun.
I've never played but I think im going to install soon. What mods should I try?
The ones I like that don't break stuff:
Hospitality
Darker Fertile Ground
More Animals
and whatever the mod is that lets you make mixed leather.
Don't bother getting more food types, they are minuscule differences.
It's a pretty complete game but is good advice. I recommend Randy Random since he's the storyteller that let's shit happen without caring about your fortune.
To me it can long moments of boredom like Dorf Fort. Randy helps alleviate that.
Most people recommend playing on vanilla at least once. Afterwards, you could qol mods first and then larger ones later. The most popular ones are stuff like rim of madness (which add cults, eldritch beings and more), rim of magic, and nuclear power stuff. You'll probably find some stuff you'd like. If you are autistic enough, theres rimjob world whih adds sex and rape and shiet.
>we
how about you start to think for yourself you fucking sheep
Wait, it's abandoned?
Is there any mod that gives you quick start? I want to skip the first few days of building beds/butcher tables/stoves.
You don't really need a mod for that. Turn on dev mode in the options menu. At the top of your screen, you'll see a face which toggles god mode and let's you make whatever for free.
After the release I think it got one more bug-fixing update but after that the dev moved on.
The release game is content complete in my opinion and an expansion or two could've improved a lot on it, but it's still worth playing.
You can personally customize your start once you understand what is needed for a colony to work.
Like you can literally land with thousands of units of food and endgame items, guns, armor, and a squad of fully biotic-kitted supersoldiers.
But if you don't understand the game you won't know how to make a refrigerator work or what tech is needed to reproduce what you drop with.
Still, even something like a small Pirate Base would be nice.
Play a few vanilla games first. My mods include:
>medieval times
>extinct megafauna
>westerado
>real ruins
>hospitality
>more faction interaction
>a few others
Basically a bunch of content mods, which you'll appreciate more if you already have a grasp on the mod
Prepare carefully lets you buy furniture.
Also this is an option but I usually do it to just fuck around.
You could also look on the workshop for some user made starts. I remember seeing a few.
I know how to make a fridge and all that. I just want to skip some of those minutes.
pretty good
harder than df
I'd recommend customizing your start and theming it.
same
No, he's just an idiot. Tynan released version 1.0, which is the final release, I think all he is interested now is bug fixing and balancing. The guy you replied to has just been force fed so much indie bullshit that he thinks it takes millions of years of updates for a game to be finished, if he even thinks a game can be. Rimworld has all the content it needs for the vanilla experience and if you don't like the vanilla experience there are thousands of mods that can change it to whatever your heart desires.
To answer OP I fucking love rimworld 500+ hours with about half of those in vanilla, I usually play with like 30-40 mods, which is kinda light by a lot of peoples standards. I like a mostly vanilla experience so the only thing that I add content wise is normally expanded organs and prosthetics, and recently zombieland, rimefeller and the other oil one. I use mostly quality of life stuff because the menus in Rimworld can be a chore to set up and slog through every fifteen minutes, I like to just set shit and forget it or not need to draft and blah blah blah
Posts some fucking bases I can copy
I have no creativity
>like 30-40 mods, which is kinda light by a lot of peoples standards
And they say this is a finished game
>Can't read
I said all the content it needs. Content being things to do not ways to do them. Also just because I like a certain experience doesn't mean that experience is right for everyone.
nah im glad they did and hope that they dont try to update more
it only means modders can go crazy with a single stable version
soon everything on the workshop will be compatible with combat extended
Do you have to start a fresh game when you install mods or does it work at any point since all the base files are still there?
great sex game
>medieval times
Great mod but I have a few problems with it. Braziers have poor lighting compared to torches, having to use hay for adobe blocks is a poor choice, the tech tree could be expanded. It did have some good points with fences, quarries, ballistas, caltrops, and crenelated walls. A good mod to pair it with is bridges expanded which allow you to make moats. Animals expanded is a good pair as well.
I've been considering westerado, how is it?
>Follow the same tech route time after time again
>Every colony lasts as long until you reach your wealth determined critical mass of enemies
>Combat is solved
no, ty
Check mod descriptions for that. They'll say whether they're compatible with exisying saves and if they could be removed easily.
I like it
depends, lots work either way, but its safer to just do a new save
It's amazing with mods.
>same lack of tacticality as Dwarf Fortress
>barely any of the simulationism of Dwarf Fortress
>player stories essentially boil down to just describing what happened during an especially devastating random event
>not as hardcore or deep as Notrium
I'm not a fan, but I can see how people would end up liking it.
Really fun but sadly suffers from feeling boring after playing it for too long.
>2 day colony
>psychic ship drops
Thanks Randy
Westerado is quite nice. Adds a lot of stuff to arid and desert biones to make them viable. Most of the other content added are weapons, crops (and booze) and clothing, buildings and tech tree are fairly barebones. All the new stuff is balanced well-integrated with vanilla and other era mods like Medieval Times
westerado is pretty great
I love the way Medieval stuff looks but every raid makes me wind up with dozens of tiny armor pieces that take up space.
Did anyone make a mod for storing/hauling large quantities of light goods like shirts?
AncientRim is pretty cool if you want romans added to the mix
>love the way Medieval stuff looks but every raid makes me wind up with dozens of tiny armor pieces that take up space.
Yeah, I dislike that too. The only thing I really hate is how those little items grant some pretty unbalanced buffs. A pair of gauntlets giving +10% crafting seems unnecessary
dwarf fortress for retards
i want dwarfags to make their own thread and declare their game the goty fags not need apply lolz.
dwarf fortress isnt sci fi
Looks neat. Does it work with the other age mods?
dwarf fortress versions in 2010-2012 was goty before toady fucked up tantrum spirals and added too much shit that noone cwres about that just kills FPS. the game is broken now
so buddo, TLDR, rimworld needs a serious overhaul.
Seems to for me.
it's pretty good. it's a nice comfy game to play semi-afk while watching TV. cant really do that with Dwarf Fort or Oxygen Not Included because of micro-management in those games but Rimworld you can just leave it run and not much happens except for the occasional raid.
ALRIGHT BOYS
