Is it feasible to make a game that takes place only at night?
of course
Is it feasible to make a game?
yes
sure
Is it feasible to make a game that takes place only at day?
isnt dark souls always at night
All of the batman arkham games are set at night.
What games take place only in the day?
I thought there was only one of them where batman takes down all his rogues in a single night
I thought dark souls 1 started in the day
Asylum takes place during a single night. The others definitely only take place during nighttime, but I forget if they're also meant to be a single night. Sounds a bit silly when it comes to City or Knight, but I think Origins was meant to happen on Christmas so I guess that one was also one night.
why do you fags only want it at night anyway?
nearly all games before OOT made day/night cycles popular.
Yea, this. Would be stupid for a game like cyberpunk. I just wish they'd kept with whatever vision they had around the time of the original teaser.
Blade runner autism
Arkham Knight actually breaks the tradition kinda since there's a flashback level that takes place during the day.
>2077 releases
>download mod to force lock night time
Wow that was hard
I've always liked the pacing in games like mgs and RE, the events self contained into a single day/night, the unbroken time passage seems to maintain tension better.
Over on a certain website everyone acted like it was ridiculous to want a game to be entirely night. I've never been one of the sunfags but I can't see anything wrong with the idea of a game that's only at night. Bloodborne exists
Hence this thread to get Yea Forums's take on game design
releases
what is vtmb
Release date at E3
very reasonable response
maybe you should go back. that's my take.
>Lock night time
>can't be the game because things happen during the day
GOOD JOB YOU FUCKING IDIOTS
I think the problem is that it means that certain things will stretch your suspension of disbelief
Like if the game is really long, like you'll play it for 40 hours or it has tons and tons going on in a story. It'd be a little crazy to liberate a country and fight a war in one night right? (For example) building onto that, a lot of things couldn't happen during the night and make sense (think about morrowind where the shops are open at 4am lol)
As for the 40 hours, gameplay and story segregation like that takes away from the story for some people. It can mean that in one night you killed thousands of enemies and found hundreds of collectible mcguffins across a wide area.
So I guess only if you constantly switch time zones constantly you can do it
It’s called VTMB you retard
Someone post the borderlands edit of this. I had it but it corrupted somehow and I can't find it anywhere.
Not if you want to incorporate fleshed out day/night cycle you can't, they want to make it that way. I honestly think that being active in the daytime would be a stupid thing for a career criminal to do, but the day/night cycle is not a dealbreaker for me because I can always have the character sleep/wait until it's night out when they want to actually pull a job
>I honestly think that being active in the daytime would be a stupid thing for a career criminal
Well you know, the safest place to hide is out in the open. Also remember society doesn't give a shit about rules any more in this world.
>Society doesn't give a shit about rules anymore
The average citizenry might not care but I'm sure the cops (or the rich fucks who hold their leash) do. It would make logical sense for the cops to be out in full force during the work day so all the megacorps and their employees are safe to conduct business and basically say "fuck it" after dark because they're not really working for the average citizen
Did you forget the E3 trailer already? One of the first things we see is a bunch of punks beating the shit out of a businessman, with the main character almost outright saying that the entire city has become like that. Though the cops are out in full force, we see police shooting up Dijkstra's hideout in that one building.
This isn't Sony's studios
This kind of system could be WHY the average citizen doesn't care about the rules anymore. They realize that the cops are only really looking out for the rich and the letter of the law means jack shit anymore. They realize that as long as the people at the top (and their property) are safe the cops couldn't give less of a shit. Just a look at how their equivalent of EMTs act towards the people who aren't paying them makes it somewhat clear
I don't mind day, but I always envision megastructures and/or pollution that blot out the sun in cyberpunk settings.
>look at how their equivalent of EMT's
Well remember that they're a private organization whose sole purpose is to secure and ensure the safety of their clients, as long as they pay. To them, only their Trauma Team members are trustworthy and everyone else is either an obstacle or a potential threat to the client.
Pollution was dealt with about 30 years(?) before the game takes place. There are shit loads of megastructures you can see them sinking into the ground in several shots.
>sneak through demo level without killing anyone instead of guns blazing
>activate females health insurance chip
>watch as Trauma Team busts through the doors and shoots everyone down trying to get to her
Who's to say the police are any different though? They view the elite as their clients moreso than the average citizens. Not sure if it's the case in the CP2020 tabletop lore but I've seen a lot of cyberpunk/near futuristic dystopias (Shadowrun, Robocop etc) in which the police had become privatized, making this kind of system even more prone to abuse
dark souls 1 has areas that are always day and areas that are always night.
this is why i have to imagine that sunfags are consolefags
Is this supposed to illustrate that regardless of what they released Yea Forums would take issue with it?
moreso that what people are bitching about is in the game already. but that is part of what you're saying. i just separated the pictures into shots of day and night
we wanted blade runner
we got cyberpunk
night is the better time anyways
>Game that is being created with the original author working directly with CDPR
>Work with him to create a world with a look and feel that matches his vision while adding in features to make the universe more realistic and fleshed-out
>Release Trailer
>"What's with all the sunlight OMG this is a travesty, nevermind the fact that the setting is exactly the same just adding daytime to it to make it more realistic"
There's no pleasing some retards
So only play it at night then, they're almost certainly going to have a wait/sleep feature. Only play the parts you want at night and occasionally go out during the day to do the things that can only be done then (just like a real criminal/mercenary that predominantly works at night would do)
