I really hate the smarmy attitude every character has and a lot of the levels were pretty boring but the visuals were cool sometimes.

getting to the combat, its clearly not as good as any other DMC (aside from 2) but it's still got a combat system better than most other "action" games. I'd still rather play this than any God of Snore, especially 2018's iteration.

Problem I had with the weapons was you had to hold down one of the shoulder buttons to use the Angel weapon and hold the other down to use the Devil weapon instead of toggling it on or off.

Anyone who thinks DmC was anything more than a general disappointment needs to simply accept that their taste is suspect. That's all there is to it. We have had the same thread about this turd since its release. The game is a step back in nearly all regards. The writing is ass, despite being memed as Shakespearean by devs. Sparda lives, the twins aren't human in any regard, and the entire cast seems to just stumble through the "story".

The reboot wanted so desperately to be cool by tameem's own standard, but, despite the digs against Dante proper, that measure was found to be suspect (see Virgil's amazing disappearing fedora). The female characters are portrayed with far less agency than their Eastern counterparts, and are far less capable, to boot.

Gameplay is GoW-tier at best. There is nothing innovative, with DmC only managing to ape aspects of the original series inconsistently (platforming with the devil bringer...again).

Liking DmC is like enjoying that Suicide Squad flick. I mean, your can squeeze some mindless fun out of it, but you're delusional if you think it's good.

In the months leading up to the game, while we were all shitting on it, I think what amused me most was a fake leak posted by one user. He claimed to know how the game would end. Vergil would transform into some manner of giant dinosaur and that would be the final boss. Would not have been surprised if it had turned out to be true either, given the trainwreck that was the DmC marketing campaign

Because the platforming was ripped from DMC4, but somehow more tedious. Because having enemies that neutralize an already limited arsenal makes for disjointed combat that breaks up the pacing you were talking about before.

There is one (1) color coded enemy that doesn't have a shield that you break, and it's that fucking rat. The other two motherfuckers however do. So you can't spam your guns on them for the only time they're actually useful outside charged shots, big deal.

First, DMC at its roots was an arcade-y style beat 'em up at its core, with later entries in the series sans 2 placing larger emphasis on varying the tools that you use with the Style system that actually has your style rank decay over time, or if you don't vary your moves. The plot of the DMC series has always taken a back seat to the gameplay, and even then the story, especially 3, always was a competent if cliched 3-act drama with themes centering around family.

Now, since DmC was meant to be a reboot, they had the agency to place larger emphasis on the narrative, and your point would have stood had they not totally botched it. The main character just bumbles around at the behest of his estranged brother who is nursing a megalomaniacal complex greater than OG Mundus, not to mention actually made the world worse by killing the DEMON *WUB* KING. Donte's biggest characterization and conflict in his game was that he felt like he didn't belong and didn't fit in with other humans, but then it turns out he didn't have a drop of human blood in him so it flushes his entire motivation down the toilet. Contrast this with DMC Dante who is actually half human, and his overarching story is coming to grips and accepting both his demonic and human heritage, while his brother's was about him rejecting his human side. DMC has better and more consistent characterization than DmC and you can't prove me wrong.

Observe, this is some real genuine complaints. Not memes.
