Which one?

How long did it take you to git gud in multiplayer user? I think I've racked up close to a hundred hours in the game and still have a long ways to go

For me, it's the FD

Fucking cool

All i got is Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 9n dreamcast

if you could only be stuck with one racer that's a pretty fun one user

I still play Forza H4

Attached: 20190520_163553.jpg (2529x1440, 1.76M)

Any racers with w204? Would love playing a modern game that models the interior properly

is this the newest GT?

Bitch... I was born in racing games.

the last I played of these games was in an arcade that I kept going back to, I was one of the better players so we'd stay there all night accepting challengers, it was a fucking blast.

It never occurred to me, because i'm a goddamn idiot, that they would keep releasing these games. Are any of them available in the US?

youtube.com/watch?v=hFYFL_UaCno

I just want a comfy driving game for Switch...

The rumors of Ridge Racer actually kept me from selling mine. Now my son plays games on it but I haven't touched my Switch since XB2 came out

Which one is the comfiest where I can ride through Japan?

I don't play the multiplayer portion.

Yes.

Attached: Gran Turismo®SPORT_20190223151259.png (1920x1080, 1.7M)

is the wagan midnight series still alive?

Attached: 1543773575093.jpg (1920x1040, 859K)

In Asia yeah. North America is still on 5 and even then only select locations.

>everything's focused on multiplayer now
>the games that do have singleplayer all force level scaling, have rubberbanding, and are just focused on super cars
I just want something like the old gran turismos, but on PC so it's not stuck at 60fps.

M4>H4

Someone help. I really loved the 2010 Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted from 2012. Any racing games like that?

Attached: using the warp whistle.webm (854x480, 2.94M)

Hot pursuit 2 and most wanted.
If you can go without cops then burnout paradise might be what you're looking for.

Underground 3 when?

Yes, enjoyed in the early 2000's when newer ones like NFS: Shift series first came out. I thought it was revolutionary how you can get a "helmet-cam" and loved it. Got Shift 2 even; despite the physics purposefully having you ram into walls and other drivers. I even got the new Need for Speed- the one where it's constantly online. I think if I am to try racing games again, it would be a Gran Turismo

Attached: IMG_20140511_155744.jpg (1536x1536, 429K)

You don't even know man
youtu.be/gPzzwVwzHHA?t=1383

Need for Speed most wanted is the last racing game I played that was actually good fun.

>M4
Motorsport 4?

Doubt you'll find any game that has that in a non amg version

Yup. Motorsport has gotten pretty bad and horizon has been pretty consistently good but 4 is still peak For a.

Not really comfy but Fast RMX is the best racer I've found on the system. Mario Kart is good but a totally different thing. That Sonic Racing game seems to have good word of mouth but can't imagine it being better than MK8 and it's 30 fps, so nah.

>For a.
damn phoneposters

How much single player content is there? Early reviews I've been checking the past few days all talk about how the game is online focused but it sounds like it might've been updated since?

YOU HAVE TEN SECONDS TO NAME THE GAME WITH THE BEST LICENSED SOUNDTRACK, I'LL WAIT

Attached: Yelling man.jpg (350x268, 29K)

When and why did arcade racing games died?

I'd recommend Redout. It has a bit of a learning curve with drifting, but I like it better than Fast. It's main downside is that it's 30fps on the switch though.

>licensed soundtrack
damn plebs

NEED FOR SPEED: HOT PURSUIT 2

The game is geared towards online racing and requires an online connection to save game data, but there are some events against AI you can race at your discretion.

Livery editor is fun too.

Attached: DXenOQ6VwAA4BlX.jpg (1200x675, 95K)

Ah yeah, haven't checked that one out (honestly don't keep up with racers on Switch since it's a bit of a lost cause imo). Is it at least stable 30? Framerate is weird for me where I can live with 30 if I haven't just come from playing something in 60.

It's pretty solid. I almost never see it drop. I do feel like either the textures drop it quality or there's some kind of motion blur though. I get a bit of a headache if I play it too long. Gameplay is pretty solid once you get the hang of drifting. If you have a good PC or one of the "pro" consoles, I'd say get it there. I've heard there was frame drops on the regular X1.

Attached: 1529979636603.png (1264x1448, 403K)

Nah. The two peaks of Forza were Motorsport 2 and Horizon (1).

I've got almost 100 hours as well and I've only won a single Sport Mode race. Some of the most competitive multiplayer I've ever seen in any game. I'll run a qualifying for 20 laps and still be a couple second off the top 10 lap times.

I really enjoyed the month where track mania turbo was free on ps+
Huge surge in online races and some ridiculous tracks. Lotta fun
That being said, most dormers racing games can slob on my fucking knob for being the boring car commercials they are.

Because atmosphere and uniqueness is something you can only obtain through nostalgia.

>there will never be a Burnout 3 and revenge remake for PC with burnout paradise graphics only

This has to be the dumbest opinion I've read on this board in a long ass while.

they want to appeal to the normie budweiser crowd

just like modern "music" and its lack of soul

Remnants of the original devs are working on a spiritual successor if I'm not wrong.

I miss the old closed course Burnout. The open world in Paradise made racing so fucking boring. Everyone taking their own path to the finish makes the races far less intense. The only fun thing about Paradise was doing those multiplayer challenges.

That's just nasty my man

>boring car commercials they are.
>play old NFS game
>showcases for every car, detailed performance specs, production numbers, videos, etc. for every car despite being an arcade racer

its out and its shit

Trackmania Turbo is the worst of all the Trackmanias.

Good open world/street racing games are few and far between these days. If you haven't played Midnight Club LA, The Crew (1, not 2), Forza Horizon series or Driver San Fransisco, I recommend those.

Attached: Pic_20161029_011118_3840x2160rs.jpg (3840x2160, 1.66M)

I like realism in racing games, so what? sue me.

But fun QTEs

This. It's fucking terrible. The interface is a bogged mess that was trying to work for consoles first, PC second and the majority of the offline courses overly rely on "TEE HEE HOPE YOU CAN LINE YOUR SHIT CAR PERFECTLY STRAIGHT FOR THE NEXT MILE OR SO"
Actually frustrating experience

>The Crew (1, not 2)

Did you take all these?

boring beach city. worse than LA

Actual Miami is an absolute shithole. Even Miami Beach is shit. Idealized Miami that ignores how it is in reality is a nice setting for vidya, movies, etc. Miami is always idealized/romanticized so no one knows how bad it is. It's like Paris.
t. lives in South Florida

Don't. I worked as an auto tech for 3 years for Audi. If you're bent on it and want to ruin your hobby as a job, definitely don't go to school like UTI or Wyotech and spend a shitload of money, unless you're retarded (like I was).

The auto mechanic field ain't what it use to be, pay is sub-par, everyone assumes you're a crook, tools costs a shitload, get covered in chemicals, hurt your back and knees over time. I could go on and on. There's a reason there are so many alcoholics and drug addicts in that trade. Be a winner, not a grease monkey.

Ranked multiplayer is nerve wracking, but just doing time trials or casual lobbies can be comfy.

All cities are ether shit or walled off enclaves for the ultra rich like Monaco. So relatively none of them are shit?

Initial D Arcade Stage 5
It's technically licensed

GT and Forza have always been arcade "simcades." GT Sport was a significant improvement.

GT Sport is definitely about quality over quantity when it comes to cars. Every single car is flawlessly modelled right down to the number of stitches in the leather, but you get like a third the number of cars total than what GT6 had (which had some ugly ports from GT5, which had ports from GT4).
I do wish the tuning had more options, and there was a proper career mode in singleplayer, so it's not an improvement everywhere.

Or you could just attach a laser scanner to a drone and import the scan to Assetto Corsa.

Free updates (cars, tracks) every month
Audio has been improved as well.

It wouldn't be amazing because it would look like shit just like those flight sims that uses satellites to generate the world

Do you guys like need for speed 2016? I thought it was really charming and fun.

The official WRC 2018 game is ok but too many switch backs, not as authentic as Dirt Rally. Then there is VRally which like like a "sim-cade". It has a very different style from Dirt Rally. Some people like it.

I unironically think that the rallycross component of Project Cars 2 is superior to DiRT Rally. I also like that they let you do stupid shit like driving an LMP car in the mud for shits and giggles.
Forza Horizon 4 is also good for making rally cars.

Honestly, Need For Speed Payback isn't half bad. There's a decent selection of cars and the customization is pretty fun too. It's also kinda cool seeing the cars you personalize in twists. Dunno why. The off-road races are fucking garbage tho

Is it me or is the difficulty a racing game heavily dependent on how arcade vs sim it is?
>full arcade games are hard
>full sim games are hard
>simcade games are easy
The closer to the center a game is, the easier it is. F-Zero and iRacing are hard as hell, but Forza Horizon is braindead easy.

Ah yes the last Forza Motorsport before being casualized.

The fuck does "hard" even mean in racing where the whole point is optimization and competition with others? Beating AI/doing basic campaign challenges?

what about Ferrari?

I put anime vinyls on every car I can find

Try playing a simulation.
It can be hard to stay on the track. You have to memorize a lot of game mechanics that vary from vehicle to vehicle.

Fuck Ferrari for doing Kimi like that

Ok so is a game's difficulty measured by how hard it is to get to a level of basic proficiency? In that case sims blow arcade racers out of the water in every way, far more to learn, far harsher physics, more punishment for fucking up, more muscle memory to build, harder fundamentals, more complex systems/mechanics at play. But that's such a tiny part of getting good at sim racers, or any racers really, actually optimizing your times and beating human players is where the skill comes in.

Midnight Club games and NFS Most Wanted are my favorites but I can't claim any are the best when a lot have good songs.

The best thing is playing Gran Turismo 6 where every standard and premium car is listed right away in the dealership, and you could see some page tabs are nothing but Miatas.

Anyone know if that went anywhere?

yeah no debate EA soundtracks have sucked for a while, last decent one I recall was Hot Pursuit 2010.

I miss Midnight Club

Replayed LA a million times. I really want R* to make another one.

What did Lotus do to piss them off?

What's the best racing game on the Switch?

Readout is fucking killer. The single hardest racing game I've ever played though. Even on easy I get blown the fuck out

Nothing, I think Lotus got bought out by another company that didn't want them in video games

RedOut will never steer you wrong, user. Check it out!

How did LA compare to 3?
I clocked up far too many hours on 3 Dub Edition Remix.

Midnight Club 3 and LA are probably my most played games. Fuck GTA Online.

Kind of a downgrade. Kept a lot of what made MC3 Remix great though and had better physics to boot.

It just lacked some really great cars from 3 and race payouts were shit which made the game's economy very frustrating.

LA is repetitive dog shit, replay it in the Current Year™ and you realize it does not hold up the same way other old nostalgic games ie Most Wanted do.

skyline or rx-7 Yea Forums?

Attached: godzilla and rotary.jpg (1920x1080, 458K)

To win a race or to own?
Skyline to win.
RX-7 to own.

t. SEETHING loser
Mercedes always wins, baby

There are rumors of a new one in the works

So you've never seen a single episode of Best Motoring Hot Version Touge Showdown?

yes

I wish Driveclub would come to PC. Imo a really nice game, especially if you aren't into sim autism

>rx7 better than skyline in drift competition
Color me surprised.

RX-7 has proven to be just as god tier in racing

1:1 dollars spent, you're going to get more performance out of a Skyline.

what game is that??

Is this 6 or sport? Looks pretty good

lol

what's the best racing game to play if I just want a selection of cars + customization? the racing is secondary to me

>snek is ded
;_;

It was this or watch it become another automatic with turbos full of driving aids user.

yeah, better to go out with a bang than turn into another marshmallow barge.

He's not wrong, but you'd have to drop a shitload more money into it than you would a Skyline for comparable results.

>doing well in a race
>pretty far into it as well with seemingly no one around in the way to stop you
>yet the moment you begin to make a turn, some massive That Guy comes barreling down the track at mach Sanic and rams into you with force of a mini nuke to total your vehical into oblivion
>either are stuck unable to continue, or have to wait so long for respawning your vehicle that you might as well not bother as someone else takes 1st by then

Post yfw shit like this happens to you in any racing game online.

>shitload more money into it
Buying apex seals isn't going to boost performance though, it's just going to keep it going.

I just get sweaty palms on the last few corners (any lap) and crash out, regardless of my position.
It does get worse if I'm winning or closer to the end of the race.
Le Mans always fucks me hard.

Downgrades, downgrades everywhere

Bump

We don't sell cocaine here.

I always found anime vinyls to be very impressive. How the fuck do you make an Idolm@ster out of basic geometric shapes?

Not him but I'm glad people do so I can download them

I've played over a hundred Sport mode races and the best finish I've ever had is 3rd. I've never had a pole position.

>Qualify in top 5
>Finish in top 5
>MMR increases so next race I'm against harder opponents
>Qualification time takes me down to bottom 5
>Finish in bottom 5
>MMR drops again so I'm back to the start

Doesn't matter how much I improve my qualification time, the game just matches me with better players. Never getting those trophies.

Wheel or controller? Are you trail braking? I found that helped me a lot.

Wish they released Maximum Tune on console in the US.

Controller. I toy with the idea of a wheel but I don't play any racers apart from Gran Turismo and I suspect a wheel wouldn't make me git gud anyway.

I do trail brake occasionally after doing the driving school lesson but I didn't think of it as a big deal. I had always thought it was better to do all your deceleration before turning in. Do you have a video or article explaining how to do it properly?

Fuck racing games

Where are my driving games

Attached: 1557611887271.jpg (480x710, 30K)

I have this picture, I guess. Apparently driving with motion controls is a lot better and more precise than the analog stick. I liked it before I got my wheel.
