Was going to post this.
It hurts me so much that this series is so forgotten nowadays.

It flopped in Japan stupid, they fucked up the camera

Some very old games like Ultima, and some modern indie games like Undertale.
Nowadays, the problem is that Western developers want gritty realism everywhere, but Japanese despise gritty realism.

>Nowadays
You don't really have to qualify that. Western games have always gravitated to grit and reelizm. And Japan has only ever wanted soft moeblobs for quite some time now.

>Jap player was so disgusted with Beth's trademark uggos that he learned 3D modeling and modding so he could turn Fallout 4 into an anime paradise
Based.

ching a chong ha bing a pong

me rike chop stick

I wanted to specify it because back then, all games were colorful and cartoonish with graphics abstract enough that you can just imagine whatever you want. This cover art sums it up nicely.

Crash Bandicoot is pretty well known there

Reminder that the Neverhood actually got a Japan-only spin-off called Klaymen Gun Hockey

That's right, a Western game series got a game released only in Japan. How often do you see that?

>filename
Wrong.

It's just a silly airhockey minigame anyways. I don't really feel like we missed out.

If it was a second adventure game, or another platformer like Skullmonkeys I'd be mad.

I was aware of the game but never considered that, genuinely can't think of other examples.

TenNapel is great, why do people hate him again?

Maybe if west stopped making shitty games they'd be more popular in Japan.

Let's not get into that. The shitposters have a little too much fun with that topic.

Crash Bandicoot is so loved that they never bothered to bring over the Titans games, knowing the new character designs would piss them off.

Dead Space

Wizardry came out in 1981 and Japanese computer and tabletop enthusiasts were quick to discover it and ask for more. Henk Rogers was quick to capitalize on that, but on the whole, Wizardry had the greater and longer lasting impact.
Also, pic related came out the same year as The Black Onyx.

He's a christian conservative that doesn't support gay marriage and abortion.
If you agree/can get over that, he's a pretty swell guy.

N.Brio was the only character that looked like himself

Cortex too, kinda.

based and redpilled

they did a lot more than just fuck up the camera. this sounds awful tcrf.net/Spyro_the_Dragon_(PlayStation)#Japanese_Version

They fucked up the whole game really. Didn't they take away his ability to run for whatever fucking reason?

Japan had a shitload of weird exclusive ports, especially on PS1/PS2.

> Nips had shows like Beavis & Butthead, KOTH, South Park and Simpsons dubbed
> Family Guy is subbed only
Based, even Nips doesn't think fondly of FG

Even a karaoke game illustrated by John k

I remember Phantasmagoria was on the Saturn in Japan as well.

I love these kind of weird ports too

which is weird because the series was never released there

South Park and Simpsons were only dubbed for a few seasons

South Park stopped in 2004, Simpsons stopped because Homer's VA Died

Many of the PS2 series like Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper

Jak and Daxter was successful at first, but they fucked it up by making Jak 2 gritty and serious compared to the first game. Nips never got Jak 3 and Combat Racing.

The thought of japanese players trying to google translate dead space dialogue is hilarious though.

Japs loved Alone in the Dark, to the point that it spawned an entire genre.

Attached: 1837132731.jpg (2000x2456, 1.03M)

For some reason, I just can't imagine Japs enjoying South Park. It's way too American in all kinds of ways, and the opposite of everything Japs like about entertainment.

Japs are vermin.

the japs LOVE south park, probably because of all the fujo shit.

I am mom?

It deserves it too. This game had its own in-universe creation myth with its lore, and the soundtrack captures the "New Weird America" idea very well.
That's a recent development though I think.

>You don't really have to qualify that. Western games have always gravitated to grit and reelizm.
I wish people would stop spreading this false narrative.

Oh boy, here we fucking go again.
