Can we start getting more games with Counter CoOp? It seems like such an amazing feature for single player. You are going through a level, kicking ass, and enemies call for reinforcements. In spawns a real online player to give you a challenge. If he dies, you get new equipment and XP. If you die, you'll respawn from an earlier checkpoint. This would put so much life into games.
Literally most games with a single player or open world can use this. Far Cry 5, Resident Evil 2, RAGE 2, Hitman 2, Metro Exodus, Wolfenstein, COD, Battlefield, etc.
Calm down, it'll can be optional and you can turn invasions off in the settings.
one player plays the game, the other play tries to kill them, faggot.
its a mode called COUNTER OP

>you can turn invasions off in the settings No fuck that. I'm sick of adjustable difficulty in games. It's an excuse to avoid doing proper testing and balancing.
Jordan Flores
perfect dark was the first game to have local counter op brainlets
Online gaming was barely a thing 20 years ago. PD deserves a worthy mention since it came up with the feature.

I wish the Blue Cops worked better in Souls games
I love the idea of how much a cluster fuck it gets when a player is just trying to beat the game while someone random is trying to kill him and at the same time someone else joins in to fight that guy

Did it really? No shit? I don't remember it at all. That's because it's RE6 and I try and forget it even existed but still, that's nice.
For RE2, an invading player could have had a player take control of Mr. X. That would have been enjoyable. A few tweaks here and there but they could have made it happen. I'm currently playing Far Cry 5 and it feels like the game was almost made for it.
Ryan Barnes
Hitman 2 would be perfect for this. Invading force is roaming the map looking for 47 while 47 is roaming the map and looking to make his kill.
Didn't Assassin's Creed Brotherhood do something like this as well or was that just multiplayer?
Bentley Flores
I think resident evil 6 had the same feature never played it however
Isaac Wood
Sure it might be able to be done well, but every game that has it does it fucking terribly so I doubt it.
Ethan Morgan
Something that only a few Souls games did that I fucking love is players being the Boss of a level.
I want that, but fleshed out more. Make the player controlling the Boss have powers but also follow the rules of a Boss maybe. Like if you do any attack you are committed to the animation, including the downtime at the end that opens you up for a counter.
Liam Gray
I wouldn't mind seeing that but it would probably take more time to design and code. Having a player invade with your skills and gear is relatively easy to implement.

>Online gaming was barely a thing 20 years ago. This is only true in the context of consoles and the Dreamcast was already out by then.
Leo Morales
Since always, they invented it.

Again online gaming was barely a thing in 2000 even on PC. How many gamers do you think played online in the year 2000? A few thousand tops right after the game launched? There were no where near as many servers as there are today. I remember the server browsers in Unreal being just a short scroll.
