im going to flip the fuck out if somebody doesnt tell me where to find this tournament application form, it is NOT in this game-news channel on their discord like the '''''''''''''''instructions'''''''''''''''''''' say
Your luck is not being in last place
Let's go together to the tournament!
you were born in this horrible world
you had no luck in the first place
your not gonna win, why bother
i'm adept 2 and this is the kind of game where anyone can win with a little bit of luck so what you said isnt true
Does anyone know whether this tournament is EN-servers only? If so, does that mean we don't compete with CN/JP players for that 10 player quota?
Thanks for your knowledge adept 2 san
>call riichi turn 2
>round end by suu kantsu
Not sure if my opponents are retarded or hidden geniuses.
He wants that ten dollar gift card
>pon haku and chun
>guy discards hatsu and does a cheeky emote
>draw the last 3 green dragons for tsumo anyway
I don't get Nikaidou's rewards.
What do the spheres do?
Which ones should I get?
What items do reach girl like?
Saw something about trading them in for chances of unlocking new characters, is this true? And is it worthwhile?
>Around 5am in Europe
NOPE. Kinda a shame, hopefully it's at a different time next time.
It's an elimination kinda tourney. Almost any nyagger is able to win one of these. While no serious mahjong tournament is elimination based, this one definitely doesn't need to be serious, clearly it is here for the advertisement purposes.
just silver players
junk mat partial fund!
>please provide your discord name
that's gonna be a yikes from me
Thanks senpai! Been looking for something like this for a while.
tyvm user im all signed up
be on the lookout for the fat yoshi avatar in the tournament
except you missed the part that only 10 normal people are chosen, and 10 mahjong pros are invited
an Adept 2 isn't gonna get invited
So what, if I want to upgrade someones art I max her bond and give her all the items listed?
>upgrade
In most cases, yes.
to unlock a bond 5 girl's outfit and 3 emotes, you need all the items listed and give them to her at the same time. for example, if you want to unlock cat, you need to save 5 epic food, and then the 2 orbs, and other materials.
tl;dr don't use epic materials except for bond 5 outfit unlocking
smart girl
yep
good luck getting those stones you get when you roll a duplicate gacha character
>ten players
Who thought this was a good idea? What are they screening for and what are their selection criteria? They'll probably just pick some whales so the money comes right back into their own pockets.

you can trade the things you get from summoning for them 1:1 directly i thought
That's about an irl year of free to play mat collecting.
I was feeling pretty bad about a match, on a bad streak, stuck in 4th place with 12000 points, when 2nd place gets hit with this fucking nuke by 3rd. Suddenly things don't seem so bad.
He ended up on -43300.
yeah, since you get 5 summon tickets a month, this is just 2 months worth without spending money.
Stop making me feel guilty with the sad cat emote
The other guy got lucky yeah, but you played a really shit game that only helped him win
>you get 5 summon tickets a month
you get 5 opportunities to press the button
please don't confuse the nyaggers
The only hard thing is purple gifts. Purple bag is just too random to get a specific one. The rest can be done in 2 weeks. I hope there are more event with more purple gifts, 1 is good but it's not very generous.
>riichi with suuankou tanki
>dealing into a riichi with kandora flipped and probably few dora visible in the pond
Wait, are you given summon tickets for free?
462877864
don't mind it, i forgot about wishing stones
Don't patronize me
Wait, at the same time? Do I need 135 items in total at the same time to upgrade just the cat?
But If I just give up on upgrading them at all, is there a way to get a new character for free? I just want some spice to the hag/cat duo.
still 2 more, that's right, there's room, just for you
room 16519
To be fair on the guy who dealt into it, he had a kan of the dora himself, and was in tenpai.
what makes the gachafag pay exorbitant amounts of cash for low-res anime jpegs?
Which manga chapter does the Akagi anime end on? I want to read how the story ends but I'd rather not start from the beginning again.
Someone said you can get them in jade. I will be happy to get a confirmation from someone, as a screenshot for example.
You can donate some of your items in exchange for stardust. You can buy 1 free roll for 50 stardust, max 5 per month. So it's possible but takes a long time
Around 113, I think.
>guy on the right calls non-seat non-round wind at turn 5
>hmm I wonder what yaku he could have, guess it's pin honitsu
>literally keep discarding non-pin tiles because I'm already in the lead even though it ruins my hand
>somehow make a toitoi hand by accident and discard 8p (sweating intensifies) to wait for the last pair
>it comes immediately, but I have to drop 5 pin now
>ron, 2k points
>he proceeds to try for an obvious man honitsu next round and I have 7 man tiles in the hand when toimen tsumo's
Is there a stream for that ?
i misspoke. you need to have those items in order to upgrade her. so you'll need 10 of each orb that the girl needs, 100 dust, 5 epic food, and 10 wishing stones. don't make the mistake of giving the cat epic food to increase her bond and then find out you still need 5 to upgrade her.
smexy voices
it ends around chapter 109
also there's a live action show which covers the washizu arc that's pretty good imo
who knows maybe they will invited literal bronze streamer
Read it from the very beginning, edgy shota Akagi is way too cute and they skipped a small arc with Osamu somewhere in here.
So should I just take all the rewards, exchange them and hope for the best? Or is it just some chink trick to steal virtual currency?
That still seems unreasonable, but at least might be possible to do.
What makes hidden Dora sometimes not appear?
Is it related to Kan?
cont.
>third time, now he's going for an obvious sou honitsu
>"well he can't be in tenpai yet" - famous last words
>proceed to feed him three calls in a row
>it's a fucking chinitsu and the guy on the left riichi's
>I have no safe tiles against the riichi so there's no folding now
>actually win this shit with 2 dora
Ura dora comes from riichi only
you can get pretty far just by playing the game and giving her gifts that she has a bonus affinity for
>needed one haku for daisangen
>the last two were this cat's pair
>couldn't even get shousangen because he tsumo'd a shit hand
...
If you guys want to know how NOT to play on gold, here is my replay.
mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com
I'm still butthurt over the fact that in orasu, my 23s ryanmen I needed to get into tenpai had SIX tiles in dead zone. And to have my last glimmer of hope destroyed in West 1 was just killing blow.
>Finally broke through adept
H-have I finally gotten gud?
You finished the tutorial.
I would rather have a completely different character though, so I'm asking if it's even worth trying to go for it or If I should just give up and settle for the hag.
Do you believe in your luck ?
>pinfu or closed hand daily

you can buy the $30 pack and with the first purchase bonus get 20 rolls (2 10-rolls). that's about a 64% chance of getting at least one random character (5% chance per roll, binomial probability).
>dealer tsumons a haneman in South 3 and manages to get into first place, 1000 points ahead of me
>next round 3rd place rons 4th into negative
it's pinfu and closed hand, you can't just do a closed hand for it.

Is it normal to spend your first few matches being completely btfo? I've done four games now and I only just managed to not come in last place.
I sometimes get that funny feeling that I'm in a Truman Show and the showrunners need some cheap drama for ratings. When everything that happens in game seems like such a string of absolutely bullshitting coincidences, unlikely scenario after unlikely scenario, with you getting situations where you are fated to make some specific decision that would be like a freight train at the end of that fucking tunnel. Looking back, I see that at one point I started making completely fucking retarded decisions due to tilting, but all in all the amount of literal bullshit that happened in my last game is astonishing. And when I got down to 400 points, I got hand after hand amazing closed tenpais, itsu-pinfu-3 doras taking the cake - and no, not a single one of them won. The way I ended up somehow taking back 2nd place in South3-4 felt even more surreal. Fuck me and fuck frustrating games like that one. Thanks for subscribing to my blog!
Yes. You start, you're shit.
is oj100% good?
>10th page

>riichi like five times
>only actually win the last one
Yeah, it's fun. About as funfrustrating as mahjong.
GGs, and thanks for joining.
"closed hand" means menzen tsumo in s*ulspeak. You can get either yaku to finish the quest.
Friendly reminder: you can finish event tasks with bots.

WHY DOES THE MUSIC SETTING RESET EVERY FUCKING TIME I RELAUNCH THE GAME
Works on my machine :) Probably has something to do with your cookies or cache.
It's stored in cookies. Maybe your cookie settings are very aggressive and clear them? Do you also have to email the code every time you log in? If you don't, but the settings still reset, it would be strange as fuck. But if you also have to log in every time, it's definitely cookies.
What do you discard here? The red dragon is dora. I can't decide if the right move is to discard the dora, the 8 man, or the south wind.
I have incognito mode on all the time and use a gmail account. So that explains that even.
man up and discard the dora, you're really close to tenpai for how early it is
windmill that dragon out of my hand and hope nobody pons.
Why do the Chinese never use emotes? Could they be soulless?
okay anons, time to get fit! what should the blanks be to ensure you get a good workout after every hanchan?
If they emote, they're losing time that they could be calling Chi/Pon/Kan.
I wanna joing, how do I go about this part?
>Prior to applying for the tournament, please check with your local governing body and its laws and regulations to confirm that your participation in this tournament is legal.
But I like bellies
Either drop chun asap or use it as a final pair wait
You're probably going to get riichi pinfu tanyao with that hand so waiting on chun is retarded though
if you do stupid shit like chi 123 and kan north on a east round/seat, they'll emote.
>stupid shit like chi 123
???
Unless you have a chanta (which is pretty rare as it is), you'll be usually seen as a retard on a fast lane for a yakuless tenpai.
prevents tanyao i assume
you look deep within your soul and ask yourself: "am I a cuck?"
I see them emote every now and then, but it's usually after I've started emoting at them.
>honitsu
>yakuhai with a bunch of doras
if it puts you in quick tenpai i don't see why not.
>play south
>get last/third a bunch
>play east
>get first/second a bunch
Isn't this the opposite of how it's supposed to go
south depends on skill
east depends on luck
It means you score trash hands
Are tacos your favorite food?
In certain countries like mine Québec we have a shitload of laws concerning contests so companies just exclude us from entering contests, if you're from a normal place you should be fine.
not him but what does this have to do with anything?

Does anyone have that tier list of what tile to discard?
ditch the bird. he's bad news.
Tacos are tasty.
>she doesn't know about the best character in Saki
YES
First ever match in silver, shit was so close. I ron'd the guy in 4th who had p00 points or something with a shitty 1500 hand and got from 3rd to first.
I always wonder but what do dices do for mahjong?
when reading akagi I saw there are dices in the set
It's to know where to break the wall.
Is there ever a reason not to call riichi?
Should I just try to quietly ron/tsumo ever?
It actually was a 3000 points tsumo and he had 800 points, just checked the replay. I'm retarded, the ron was at the previous hand.
If you're a beta, then sure.
Yes, if you're on a shitty wait that people would never discard if they knew you were in tenpai for example.
when someone pons daisangen hand
sometime you just want an option to be able to fold when you chicken out
If you riichi everyone knows what's up.
Always instantly calling riichi the moment you get the option is low iq.
That or being able to change your hand just in case something bad happens.
In the opposite, if your hand can easily be improved you might want to riichi later.
but it has such tasty color.
Fresh new room, get in.
Majsoul Friends Room 18510(4-Player South): mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com
It'll be even tastier if you wait a round or two rounds and manage to turn your one sided wait into a 2 sided one and also switch your normal 5 with a red dora.
Maybe if you're low on points and can't afford to get smacked, or if you're playing with 600 IQ gold players that'll go full beta the second they think you're in tenpai.
Well shit, everybody's sleeping ? 2 places left.
The increased stakes in Gold are kinda spooky.
At least the revival copper increased as well.

That's called damaten and it's for beta faggots.
help I can't stop buying mahjong sets on ebay
just link the deals you find to me
I just bought it tho
Open your own parlor and make tons of copper
How many have you bought?
why is it actually impossible to find a mahjong table in the USA that isnt $1000+
Lucky fucker. Having a hand with so many doras that fast shouldn't be allowed.
Three total sets, but just two off ebay
I'm the guy who recently posted about this bamboo backed numbered set for $20 to teach new folks on without scaring them away with manzu and wind kanji, I just found pretty much the same set but new old stock unopened and with actual green souzu and hatsu for not much more so I picked it up
One of the tiles has a strand broken off the bamboo back on the old set which bothers me more than it should because I probably have literal autism or something so that's reason enough for me to pick up another
That's how much automatic tables cost

is the art by the same guy who did shuffle? it looks uncannily similar
it's mahjong not street fighter, some japanese pro cant do shit if he gets a bad hand and i tanyao all over him
I assume you mean an auto table? Amos is supposedly going to be selling officially in the USA at some point this year, I think their cheapest model is still over 1000 but at least you won't have to pay another 1000 on top for international shipping.
You probably won't find one for under $1000 unless maybe if you go to your local chinatown and buy some off brand Chinese duplo tile table
>some japanese pro cant do shit if he gets a bad hand and i tanyao all over him
I can imagine.

Oh sorry misread the tsumo part my bad i thought you deal in for some reason.
Thanks, friend
Does anyone know where an EUropoor can get an automatic mahjong table without paying out the ass for transport fees? Friends and I are considering splitting the cost but we're struggling to find something that isn't a cheap piece of shit that'll fall apart after one game but also isn't going to cost something outrageous due to transportation. Is it hopeless?

Wtf, autosage ?
Ok nvm.
do you also drink onions while you play?

Sounds hard, but it's actually doable except for the pure RNG shit like purple gift and Spheres.
I've found the source of the ticking noise, everyone! It's a pipebomb!
Spheres is doable, you get 1 in pretty much every silver chest.
Purple gifts is pretty much event-only if you're f2p
w-what does this shit mean?
Very useful to not call riichi when you're in 1st on South 4. At that point all you want to do is win quickly and as fast as possible, and not calling riichi makes it more likely for others to deal in
If you have a 4 han 20 fu hand without riichi, a tsumo will upgrade it to a mangan while a ron will be 7700 points, so pretty close to a mangan
If it's something like riichi only + 1 or 2 dora with a bad wait, and the people you're playing with don't give a shit about playing defensive, you might want to try to upgrade to a better wait or have insurance in case someone else reaches tenpai
Last case I can think of is if you're aiming to get direct hits off of one or two people, since passing a ron with riichi puts you in furiten
Got my first kill. Are you proud of me?
Please say you're proud of me ;~;
The piece turned up is the dora, it shows which piece will give you bonus point this round (image case the 6 pin is the dora), everytime someone calls a Kan (4 of a kind) they turn up a new tile up to 5
below the stick with 1 dot means someone called riichi, if someone wins this round they take his points, and the one with 8 dots shows how many times the same player won in his east round, and mutiplies the score he wins by 200 I guess (2 rounds * 200 = this round he wins 600 points)
How come sometimes when someone tsumo's, I lose more points than the other 2 players?
the east seat always pays more, so you got unlucky when he called tsumo
>Putting yourself in potential furiten
No.
I swear I didn't do today's event quests but I don't have any in my thing
It's the dealer that has to pay more when someone else tsumos. Roughly 1.5x the amount of the other two players
This event is kinda fucked up, everyday evening the quests disappear
thanks user
Sorry, I'm retarded. The dealer pays roughly 2x the other two players
>Keep the two pin to avoid potential furiten when the 3-pin doesn't help the hand in any way lol.
Talking about your retarded call of the 9m
>potential furiten
I already had 456 678, the 2 was useless, which means so was the 3. I was waiting on an East.
Calling the 9m is what put me into Tenpai, you absolute gizzard.
you are actually right on both cases, small score pays almost double, big scores pays 1,5x
>Having a complete open set including the nine, then afterwards discarding the 8, has any chance of leading to furiten.
Are you dumb? Am I dumb? Walk me through this.
rip that last round was a slog
thanks for the game
And what happens when you draw a 5m
I thought he was asking if there is any dora for a red five.
He wins for being in a 5-east pair wait?
>No yaku
lol
Yeah GG thanks for playing anons
Im proud of you dear user.
Right, I'm retarded; still don't see what that has to do with furiten so you're retarded too. He's also retarded for giving up his yaku for a single east wait.
>And what happens when you draw a 5m

Good girl
>Drew into Tenpai
DO IT FAGGOT
>dont overestimate your advantages.
Good advice right here.
That's because it literally just looks like generic ~2000s era anime. Could be anyone and anything.
Nvm, it's worth one more han than what he got. Still the second statement remains true.
I see that I am slow, and that the madman did it.
Good work.
tell me why i would ever want to rank up to expert or above
if i run out of copper at that point i cant play at all unless i find lobby to play in
grinding for gifts is much more valuable than the money
cant grind for gifts if i have no copper
>people will think you're slightly less of a shitter
>get to play better players, so you might even actually become less of a shitter
>pity coppers actually buy you a lot of games unless you're busting out like a nyagger every other game
>you can just start a lobby if you're broke and still playing
Live off welfare. I lose a lot of copper daily but the welfare is good enough to keep you playing.
And friendlies are free.
I think it's better to stay as long as possible in silver, in gold you get more spheres and in jade I haven't seen a gift in ages.
this game is infuriating desu
What can't i watch other players?
If welfare and quest isnt give you enough copper to play you will never rank up to expert.
The Chinese.
To prevent cheating.
we'll see about that
>Play in silver
>get absolutely ass annihilated
>play in bronze
>3 in a row
I might be a shitter, but at least I'm king of the shitters.
>would've made it to adept in less than ten games if it wasn't for one fucked up one
uwhaaaa :(
You can still play in silver rooms as expert.
It seems like you've gotten gud tho.
Keep going.
this is me but with gold and silver instead
>tsuuiisou
jesus christ, why can't i get at least 1 yakuman
Read as: I rush to complete my hand without thinking what other people are doing and that works in bronze because they can't even get to tenpai.
that is the optimal way to play
except you just fold as soon as it looks like someone else is about to win
I hope this isnt a tsuuisou ron.
what are the easiest yakumans to get?
ive gotten kokushi once and been close to it another 2 or 3 times
was sort of close to daisangen once and tsuuiisou once
It's more like in Silver I can never seem to get into Tenpai, but in Bronze I don't seem to have that problem.
I kinda go through phases with what hands I go for. At first I was all about the Junchan, then I started going for Tanyao once I learned what that was, then it was Pinfu with some Sanshoku Doujin thrown in.
Now I'm going after Honitsu and Chinitsu.
It was. It was the third hand and I had 200 points left. 1st place dealt into me and shot me straight to first. Ended up getting second. Guy on my right took a fast hand in hand 4 and overtook me.
>4th immediately to 1st to 2nd at the very end
now this is mahjong, ggs
Daisangen, kokushi, and suuankou are the ones I get closest to
Why do I never get this lucky with retards
When are we going to get some events with story?
>It's more like in Silver I can never seem to get into Tenpai, but in Bronze I don't seem to have that problem
Read as: I rush to complete my hand without thinking what other people are doing and that works in bronze because they can't even get to tenpai.
You're getting to tenpai more often because your opponents aren't getting to tenpai as often.
>You're getting to tenpai more often because your opponents aren't getting to tenpai as often.
>that guy who riichis for a 1 tile wait
>the hand is worth 1 han
What story?
you cant get to tenpai on turn 15 if your opponent gets to tenpai on turn 10 and wins on turn 14
>Hates luck based gambling.
>Pays real money gambling on a luck based gacha game to obtain cosmetics for use in a luck based gambling game.
what else are you supposed to do if you get gifted a complete trash hand
just give up and let someone else win?
I mean, you're right. That is how the game works. Once someone wins, the hand stops.
No argument from me.
As in you have more time to get to tenpai because your opponents are slower.
>ippatsu
>ura dora
>exhaustive draw in tenpai
you all told me it was a skill based game and luck barely played a part
GG lads, it was a fun one.
>Nyagger is in last place on the last hand
>Wins with an open Tanyao and ends still in 4th place
again what are you supposed to do
if youre hand is trash you might as well try to win fast rather than risk getting ronned into negatives
Dont expect nyaggers to counting their point. They just ponchikan into something and hope its big.
it's a bitch move but it's not pointless. you're at least making sure you don't go into negatives and someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i think you get more exp the higher your points are
You shouldn't riichi on a 1han hand unless you're the dealer because the reward is negligible while you're putting yourself at a huge risk by riichi'ing on a bad wait. You should try to change the hand to at least have a better wait, and yeah, give up if someone comes out with something dangerous and you haven't built value. Don't be a nyagger who bitches here about losing four out of five riichis because you mash the FREE SEX button every time it pops up.
1 point more if its a tanyao only hand => basically wothless.
depend on how the point diffirent are you can do alot of thing.
>while you're putting yourself at a huge risk by riichi'ing on a bad wait
>implying I'm smart enough to not deal in anyway
But riichi'ing on a bad wait is the #1 way to get ron'd into the negatives.
Hello friends,

Holy shit rooms fill up fast
obviously he did it early enough to still win the hand otherwise that guy wouldnt be here complaining about it
For what purpose? Being in fourth place and going negative is the same. Might as well aim for a baiman or more, even more, aim to take down 2nd place to 3rd place just to fuck with him.
Majsoul Friends Room 75523(4-Player South): mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com
could be the difference between -60 points and -100
you cant just aim for a baiman, you take what tiles you get
if you get trash then you cant magically turn it into a baiman
Just because it pays off doesn't mean it was a good idea.
You know that the diffirent you are talking about here is more than a non-dealer yakuman ron right? Even if you deal into a haneman if just -12 but if you get 3rd place somehow its +100 or even more.
ippatsu on the first riichi, well shit
dealing into a 10k+ hand because you riichi'd on an open wait 10 turns earlier makes me want to close the game for a week
someone tsumoed this while I was on two-sided wait with one red five and dora 3 from pon tiles.
it doesnt matter how many points the difference is my point is the same

If you have a trash hand you can turn it into a kokushi (or make they think that you are going for a kokushi). A hand that can naturally turn into a open tanyao cant be a trash hand user.
If you are last place in south 4 you dont have anything to lose really.
if you have a bunch of shit like 1-3 and 6-8 its not gonna be that easy to finish it quickly without calling
>get fucked 3 rounds in a row by nyaggers ponning and chiing everything that drops into the table
>shitty 1 han hands anyways
>last round
>bend them over with my big dick baimans

Pretty much yeah. Not losing is also a step to winning
You're also risking 1000 points to get roughly 1000 points back + your initial investment
But why would you want to finish it quicky? You are dead last with a shit hand, better bet on a miracle that can pull you out if this misery than get a +1 point in the end no?
Sorry for leaving, dog shit on the floor
Majsoul Friends Room 74091(4-Player South): mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com
the easiest way to not lose is to win before anyone else can
stop throwing a tantrum because someone else took a quick win rather than letting you finish building your big dick hand and risk going into negatives
theres no point trying to magically get a good hand if you dont have the tiles for it
Just let the nyaggers killing each other then strike them with your bigdick hand. Truly the chad way of mahjong.
Yeah sure enjoy 4th place man.
learn the game
>stop throwing a tanturm
How the hell did you get that from my post. Are you this butthurt that someone disagreed with your shitty Bronze strategy
Your chances of "winning first" via ron is shitty as well with a trash wait. You can always win with a closed tsumo so why the hell would you declare riichi
>theres no point trying to magically get a good hand if you dont have the tiles for it
You change the draw order from the wall. There's no telling what you could have gotten had you actually kept your hand closed instead of rushing out that 1k tanyao in South 4
Room for 1 more!!
youd be crying regardless of what his wait was
If you give up on your hand when you just see it the first time then there is no hope for you.
But i indeed need to learn more about the game though.

Akagi doesn't teach you how to play mahjong
Just open mahjong soul and start clicking buttons until you know what you are supposed to do.

It's all the same game in the end. There's not much of a difference between this and Tenhou. Mahjong Soul does hold your hand more with hints and a tutorial though

All mahjong games are the same really.
The only alternative is tenhou which doesn't have cute girls, but has better players. However at lower levels you'll meet the same kind of beginners so you'll not notice that until you know what you are doing.
Also soul has friendly rooms here to get you started with the game.

Go through the tutorial in mahjong soul then dive straight into actual games in Bronze East. Then come back here and whine about why your hand didn't work. Then after we yell "No Yaku!" and "Furiten" at you you can go watch Akagi.
The process is worth it, Akagi is great. Mahjong is fun too for after you complete it.

is fbi-chan a retard?
Adept is fucking purgatory, I swear. Just when I think my luck is turning, I end up with 10 straight games in a row where everyone is instantly in tenpai and I'm sitting here with a garbage hand half full of honors and terminals and nothing even resembling a set. Every time I get close to winning a huge hand, somebody sweeps it out from under me with some babby garbage hand, or I Ron into someone because I'm just trying to get my wait. I can't even just try to coast on playing defensively because then they just end up Tsumo'ing and draining me anyway and I still end up in 3rd or 4th. I fucking hate how people play in Silver because it's just blind aggression and luck.
im experiencing the same thing
Bro's help me out, I was playing mahjong IRL and was in tenpai waiting for 1 tile with an open hand. The player to my right discards said tile but the player opposite him called pon on it before I could call ron.
Who wins the tile in this case?
I know how you feel bro
>play a completely "safe" tile
>*smug emote*
>Ron Riichi ippatsu chiitoitsu 6 dora
>Draw potentially big hand
>other player gets lightning fast riichi and tsumos next turn
>just play as efficiently as possible to scrounge up some points
>Dealer tsumos until you fall into negative
That goes on for 4 or 5 games right when I'm about to fall below adept and then I get lucky again until I'm more than 2/3rds of the way to making it to adept 2 and then the cycle repeats
Ron takes priority.
Stop playing east only matches
Focus less on winning hands and more on not dealing in
Priority is ron > pon > chi.
This is a common complaint, and while this sort of thing happens from time to time, it's also important to remember that just having bad luck doesn't necessarily mean that you never made a mistake or that you don't have room for improvement. Maybe you need to win more hands more often, or maybe the hands you do win are too small, or maybe you're pushing when you should defend or defending when you should push.
Thanks guys, FFS I let it slip and gave it to the guy that called pon because I didn't wanna argue, the guy to my right then won a through a tsumo

Need one more. Let's clear those dailies.
Fuck, I forgot I need 8 Honba, not 7.
hmm...
I don't even think that's implemented.
Just finished my first bronze match, I had no idea what to do besides trying to get 4 sequence/triplets and a pair, somehow ended up 2nd, never won a hand.
One thing I wanna know is about the options on the left, there's a lot of "auto" stuff, should I turn them on?
Came 4th every game I've played tonight and just died. Maybe I should stop playing or press pon and chii on everything and maybe get 1k hands.
Don't the pauses in this game change the balance compared to real life, or is there some loophole to the information gained from them?
Like, if the guy to my left deals a tile and there's a pause I now know with 100% certainty that someone out there has 2 of that tile and was given the option to pon. I know it will be a bad tile to wait on, in fact if I have 1 of that tile myself I know there's 0 left to draw.
I don't actually keep track of this shit myself, but I bet good players do. Or is there something I'm not aware of that makes it not work?
No. Only auto-arrange should be on (it's on by default)
>Maybe you need to win more hands more often
I literally can't because everyone in the room has what they need almost immediately and my hand is mixed nonsense.
>or maybe the hands you do win are too small
Again, I finally do get a nice hand and somebody with a 1-2 han still sweeps the win out from me anyway
>or maybe you're pushing when you should defend or defending when you should push
I do my best to defend after I win something with any significance but again, I run into the same problem with other players being ready so early in the match that their discards are impossible to read or I just straight up don't have tiles that I know are safe.
You're probably right. I've mostly been going for East games because I just want to put in for a quick game here and there when I have a bit of down time but it's really fucking me over because of the way people play in Silver. 10 bucks says these people are shitting it up in most of their games because I can see they're the same level as me, I just seem to be having the bad luck of being in the games where they're having all the good luck.
Also, FYI, calling Kan to make a meld of 4 when you already have 3 and you drew the 4th yourself can still be beat by a Ron. I had that happen to me once and it fucking sucked because I wasn't aware it could be stolen from me if I was just adding it to an existing open meld. Wouldn't have really mattered because I was already waiting on something and that tile would have been discarded anyway but it was just kind of adding insult to injury. Only ever happened to me once but I guess be careful the next time you try to Kan something from your hand because it turns out it's just as good as discarding it. Not sure if they can do it if you're Kan'ing a closed meld though. Anybody else know the answer to that?
Thanks. I'm gonna read some Yakus now.
wait
I can manually arrange my tiles if I turn it off?
Yes just drag them but make sure to turn double click on
>t. No tips no auto arrange
Yeah
Kaning a closed meld doesn't work in almost every case, but I think there's some bullshit special exemptions for some reason where it does. Like I think if you're trying to steal the last tile for 13 orphans it's allowed, just because of the "rule of cool".
If it's anything like Tenhou there are fake pauses added in sometimes.
>I literally can't
Work on your hand building skills. Work on your efficiency, work on building better shapes, work on incorporating more value when you can, and learn how to balance speed and value.
>their discards are impossible to read or I just straight up don't have tiles that I know are safe
Learn how to defend, work on your judgment of when to push and when to fold. Go read Riichi Book 1 if you haven't already (and if you have, reread it).
>Not sure if they can do it if you're Kan'ing a closed meld though
No, chankan is only possible when promoting a pon to a kan, though apparently Majsoul has chankan for closed kans for kokushi.
Time to go on another losing streak.
Oh shit, there might be fake pauses?
That'd certainly solve it.
Can anyone confirm or deny if that's the case in Mahjong Soul?
Not satisfied, but not disappointed either. I wonder what would've happened when I got to Honba 8 and won as the dealer.
Just to let you know, this isn't really a good indicator of skill. I can probably play at a gold level, but I'm incredibly lazy and have only played like, 20 games so far, so I'm very low adapt.
I will say, even though the other anons are doing it to be spiteful assholes, it IS a really easy and fun DIY project. I built one for myself, with total materials coming out to maybe $80 or so. The trick is to make sure that the felt is incredibly taut before you staple it into the wood.

ggs. Maybe I should have aimed for a yakuman too at the end
taNYAo
my aim was actually terminal discard since I at least didnt expect to get a white or 9man, but fuck me that was close
didn't even notice your discard until I see the screenshot. I did notice how there wasn't any south tiles when I eventually drew one so I had to hold on to it so I had to break the closed wait to make room but dealt into the tanyao instead.
>Work on your hand building skills. Work on your efficiency, work on building better shapes, work on incorporating more value when you can, and learn how to balance speed and value.
How the hell am I supposed to be efficient with bullshit like 1 and 8 characters, 2 and 7 bamboo, 1, 3, and 9 dots, 1 east, 2 wests, 1 south. 1 red dragon, and 1 white dragon. To top it all off, I'm north. I shit you not, this kind of nonsense has been what my starting hands have looked like all fucking day. I try to build any sort of viable hand from that and somebody ends up in tenpai within the first 3 discards. If it's through Riichi, then yeah, the obvious move is to start defending but if they haven't given any proper indication of it, like they just aren't calling Riichi or they have one generic open meld that isn't even a dragon or a wind they can use, the best I can do is pray as I try to balance building a hand and trying to keep from discarding anything important to somebody else. I'm not trying to say I'm great at this game and just have shit luck but it definitely feels like part of this is luck shitting on me today since I wasn't having problems like this yesterday.
I'm going through this right now. Literally never played into anyone's hand, yet I'm constantly in last place for 6 games straight. Such a bullshit feeling, but you just got to persevere.
Spicy opinion alert: Ippatsu shouldn't include your next draw, it should merely be an extra punishment for anyone who deals in on the first turn after a riichi and handing out more points for pure luck with literally zero influence or counterplay is bad
>zero influence or counterplay
Just call kan lmao
Bad luck happens, I'm just saying that you can't blame it for everything and it doesn't absolve you of getting good. And if you're talking about a day's worth of games, it's only natural that there will be a lot of variance in results.
