Best skill trees in the series, but also much more repetitive level design than 2 had, combined with mostly forgettable dialogue. Didn’t hate it, but also not gonna pretend that it was great or anything.

I really hope there's an endgame option in 3 to skip to any story point or just repeat missions and skip dialogue. The worst part about 2 and TPS is that you have to replay the whole game like 3 times to actually hit endgame and you're stuck going through all the dialogue and missions each time, unless you level to some arbitrary point and you can skip some missions but even in DLC and multiplayer you have to deal with it.

That has always bothered be about every Borderlands game. The games are just not interesting enough to play through multiple times just to get to the "end".
Maybe if you could start with a different character in the NG+s but having to do the exact same things in the exact same way just sounds boring as hell.

It was subpar. I played it for the first time recently, when 3 was announced and I was surprised how much I did NOT miss this type of gameplay. On par with other games in the series. This pic perfectly describes my feelings when I played it.
And I was somewhat excited about 3 (god knows when that is going to happen, unless someone at gearbox will leak exe without denuvo. You know it's going to happen, some new """"""""uncrackable"""""""" version of denuvo I mean).

I wish there was a way to stay in that good middle range in borderlands, where you're leveled up enough to have a good progression in your skill tree, enough that it's not vanilla mode, but not so far down the line that you absolutely need to have the absolute best gear and can still roll with blues and purples.
That's the range where borderlands really works, because characters have a solid identity, and you don't need to be spending all of your time farming.
