Yes.

Both.

>"muh sjw."
the creator is an alt righter

its not sjw. its hipster last gen

Because it's terrible. It isn't SJW anyway

70% terrible, 30% hipster.

>YIIK
>pronounced year 2000

fuck off retarded game developers

That, and the awful gameplay, annoying loading times and horrible writing.

The story is as good as your average JRPG. People only hate it because it's made by a western developer

lemonade

No, it's genuinely bad and a product of a shit trend.
The Mother/Earthbound-like trend.
>shit humor
>needless references
>dumb attempt at epic psychoanalysis and ""deep"""lore

I want this trend to die, all of the creators of these horrible games are so far up their own ass with their disgusting indulgence.

it just keeps getting worse

I don't understand how you can set out to make a game for years without realising shit like this. How can you call your game art when it's a fucking dorky mess in most regards

I still don't see why Undertale gets a free pass for doing just about everything this piece of shit did.

>alt-righter
???

tho i prefer this game to undershit.

i fucking despise Calarts trash in general. this game at least has its own characters and style

Honestly both criticisms are valid.

Gingers should never be represented in media fucking soulless

Undertale had good gameplay, and a good soundtrack with a mediocre plot and shit characters. YIIKES has shit everything.

I'll give you some of the soundtrack, but the gameplay was atrocious.

I've never heard of this but it looks like pseudo-retro garbage. Why try to make it look low poly if it isnt actually low poly?

Thr gameplay was shit but the characters and enemies were pretty unique and charming

Undertale appealed perfectly to the 13-year-old internet addicts at the time

No, he's one of the guys that is neither alt right nor sjw so that means everybody on the internet hates him.

The game is garbage, but not because of the creator's political opinions.

They were all extremely unlikable.
>Frisk is a silent protagonist
>Toriel is only around for the first 10 minutes of the game
>Papyrus is obnoxious and not funny
>Sans is the only not shit character
>Undyne is a child murderer and LOL ANIME
>Alphys is a horrible person who actually deserves to die
>Mettaton is obnoxious and not funny
>Asgore is a child murderer
>Asriel shows up at the last 10 minutes of the game and I'm somehow supposed to care about him
I don't know why people actually like this cast of characters.

>try to be like Earthbound
>Earthbound was just a simple Dragon Quest clone set in 90s USA instead of a fantasy setting
>make your game a really shitty and slow chore to play and make every single line of dialogue scream "LOOK HOW QUIRKY THIS ISSSSSS"

Any porn of the girls in this game? Some of them look kind of cute.

LISA is the only mother-like that actually captured Itoi's comedic timing.

"deep" quirky characters are super popular with autistic internet circles. It's why shit like my hero academia or fire emblem are popular, there's an abundance of barely-developed blank slate characters that appeal to fucking everyone

Protip, autists and general secondaries iwthout much interest can be sucked into liking a character very easily with this formula:
Color+Catchphrase
Supplement "Catchphrase" with "Two bulletpoints of 'personality'" if you wanna be slightly "serious" or can't think of an 'iconic' phrase. The autists will latch on and do the rest of the work for you with fanfic and headcanon theories.

I've never played it so take what i say with a grain of salt, but everything I have ever seen in regards to this game has been the most up it's own ass, fart sniffing approach I could possibly imagine in regards to an rpg. The writing is done by someone who thinks he is writing some grand piece of literature and doesn't understand why that particular kind of wrting doesn't work in a narrative that you are supposed to directly take part in. The combat system is just utter trash and I don't even know what they were thinking. Finally, despite how much of a masterpiece the writer/game itself seems to think it is, it has the audacity to ride the coattails of the "Earthbound inspired" meme without understanding why those games worked. Instead it just throws "lol so random" humor and you, and then minutes of exposition dump every conversation in an attempt to seem deep.

It's a fucking mess and the creator seems like an autistic sperg that can't take criticism. Also this: youtube.com/watch?v=WwCKPhlyU5M

turn based mini game combat

Mostly the former. The creators self insert happens to look like a colossal SJW but the majority (if not all) of complaints come from legitimate flaws with the game.

Its piss easy to self insert as a silent protag, so most games just did this in any RPG really. It also requires a lot less effort from the writer's perspective, while the player also can go into a non-good guy route.
The good guy protag, who has a personality of a wet noodle will also work because 90% of people who play these games will definitely go good guy route rather than bad one. Its not really self insert this case, its more like an "I'm going to save everyone and be loved by everyone" fulfillment fantasy. I'm not saying everyone is a moralfag type, but it has been proven many times that most people go bad boy route on second playthrough just to see what is the difference.
Also very important: Mostly they are flawless, or their flaw is very minor, and most likely nonexistent halfway

The funniest part is while these types are great for mass, and will be popular, the media (the games in this case), while critically proven to be OK, they never really exceed the good level. Yes they can be good, but never great, because flaws make characters interesting. If everything is flawless its just boring as shit.
