I'm a bit torn on the new or seemingly new trend of people learning Japanese and promoting it. I am torn because on one hand I respect young men trying to learn a new language. Something that may be useful or at least a talent to have. However I am also reminded most people aren't learning it right. I feel its only for people to play semi porn loli games [low art and low IQ art at that] Instead of proper reasons to learn it.
Pretty much it would be like learning English just to watch Porn instead of learning it to read good literature.
Is it just faggy weebs looking to jerk off to loli shit or are people actually looking for a new skill in life?
Is it really that bad to learn nip in order to appreciate more media? 95% of media that I consume is basically Japanese in origin, games, anime, manga, light novels, Japanese text and imageboards and of course H-games. I may not be a translator or someone that'll network with Japanese people in the future but what is fundamentally wrong with dedicating your time to learn something that may help you enjoy your interests even more?

I could be a developer in Japan if I wanted to but the work culture there is awful. Actually did a few phone interviews in Japanese cause so many people from Japan were reaching out to me with positions.

I'm learning Japanese for animu and porn, but for my good literature needs I'm learning Latin.
I don't think it's a bad thing. The people learning Japanese exclusively for porn wouldn't have learnt a language or done anything productive otherwise, and those learning Japanese on top of other things have just acquired another skill, one that facilitates beating their meat, but also enjoying media that helps them relax.
