I know it may not seem like it, but we're actually trying to loosen up people to the idea of Steve in Smash.
As a Steveposter myself, I used to be avidly against Steve joining, and I'm not even a rosterfag. I was just thinking in a petty way because "cringy kids" liked Minecraft and I just never really got what it was great about it.
Over time though I reassessed my idea of Steve and thought he'd be an interesting addition, and I might even give Minecraft a shot one day.
The thing is, the vapid Steveposting may be causing a lot of drama, but it's also introducing the very real possibility that Steve might become playable, and hell, some people want Steve now just for the memes/chaos he'll bring.

Fortnite is just a fad, running off the coattails of the battle royale gimmick. Minecraft is here to stay, has global appeal, and essentially created a genre of its own with unlimited potential.
