Well holy goddamn.
X6 is underrated as hell. Better than X5.
I'd bet you if the game were polished it would have easily been a favorite. All of the problems X6 has is from being rushed, and even then it does some things good like improved animations.
X6 is complete garbage. There isn't a single well designed level the whole game. Fucking romhacks have better design than this game.
Unpop opinion:
X6 is probably one of my fav X games.
Is it good? Hell no
Does it match x2? Hell no again
But once you learn to put up with it's bs, the music and such it can be really fun.
Shield Sheldon was good, rainy turtloid was simple, and dare I say it mijinion was fun.
>put up with the music
The game's soundtrack is one of my favorites from the X series. Does it get annoying during gameplay or something?
No. I worded that incorrectly I apologize.
I meant to say that the music as a huge positive of the game that helps make the really bad parts more tolerable.
No, the soundtrack is great. Maybe he had an aneurysm or something
Alright, in that case I agree
>Shield Sheldon was good
can be finished in under a minute
>mijinion
literally just a straight slope downhill
>turtloid
well it doesn't fuck up spectacularly I guess, so long as you don't have Mijinion's nightmare effect.
I like all X games except 7!
Never played CM though, unfortunately
Did you forget about the giant mechaniloid in the background? It's a miniboss for the whole stage constantly tracking you and you have to hit the power conduits on the way down. That's what makes it fun.
what is this
I used to hate X6 but after forcing myself through it several times I've come to think that it's just okay. It's not quite as bad when you know the game well enough to circumvent all the terrible bullshit it has and at that point you can have something resembling fun with it.
Still just downhill after the opening theme though.
Don't ask and you won't get hurt
I'LL NEVER GO DOWN
JUST TO KNOW
JUST TO KNOW THE ANSWER
What if getting hurt is a sacrifice that must be made to know the truth?
what is it
Then you got guts for asking.
A mod for super deepthroat.
Absolutely. X6 tried to turn X1's domino effect stage changes into a legitimate mechanic but it was just too rushed to do anything sensible with it. There's even special weapon synergy with the nightmare phenomena but they're an absolute mess to deal with if you don't know how it works or don't even have the right weapon yet. Great concept but it needed more time in the oven.
JUS TAH NOE
No the music is the best thing about the game due to how rushed everything else is.
X6 is the best in the x series.
>best looking armors
>Large amount of power up skills compared to rest
>right amount of difficulty
>best music
>cool looking bosses
Despite some flaws it might have, it is just the most polished overall.
JUST EXPLAIN IT ALREADY FUCUUUUCUCUK
How can a game this fucking wonky have such incredible music? How is such a thing even possible
I mean just listen to this shit
youtube.com
This masterpiece plays in the worst stage in the series' history, what in the unholy HELL was going on at Capcom to allow this
Not allowed to, Newfriend.
It is absolutely not the most polished. Some phenomena/stage combinations are straight fucked. For example, Metal Shark Player's stage is impossible if the silhouette enemies appear and you don't have their weakness, you're not getting past some of those forced crouch moments.
Undeniably the best OST in the entire series
FINE. im sure somebody at reddit will actually be nice enough to
MAGUMAH STOREAAAAAAAAAM
heatnixmind
FLAMING DONUTS
HOLD THE FUCK UP
Kernal!
I'm disappointed in U Kernal HRAAAGH
Naoto Tanaka is just a fucking great composer
cry moar, they didnt put good music in the other games because this one was just better overall
whats why you have to learn to git gud and revisit the stage later. Nobody said you had to do that stage when those things were active. This is just another complaint similar to blaze heatnix level.
btw this is you
Does anyone else resent that X gains a saber weapon and despite his powers he does NOT copy Zero's MMX4 movements? Why give Zero entirely different sword swing animations if X wasn't going to imitate his old move set?
WHAT
WAT DO YOU THINK YOAR DOENG!
So is Zero like officially the most popular character in the entire Megaman franchise?
I always imagined it as X not being nearly as skilled with a saber as he is with the buster (vice versa for zero since his buster is nothing compared to X's)
IT'S NOT TOO LATE STOP THE COOP NOWWWW
It's just a Yea Forums meme. Most anons are young, combine that with bad taste, you have weird opinions that make no sense. This board thinks DKC3 is bad too.
AM
Nevuh.
No. Just the most forced
I'm not saying X6 is unbearable, I think it's quite underrated. But having potentially impossible scenarios crop up because you don't know what you're doing is a pretty glaring issue to sweep under the rug. X6 is the kind of game that's better on repeat playthroughs but is quite miserable on a blind one. Kinda hard to call that polished. For my money, I'd say X4 is the most polished one, excellent mix of level design flow and unhindered progression.
Well if that's your decision, PREPARE YOURSELF!!
I think it's more that the internet in general has a tendency to be exorbitantly harsh on sequels that aren't as great as the previous iterations in a series, even when they aren't disasters. Even X6 and your example of DKC3 fall into this.
X knows how to use the saber as early as MMX3. He copies the same move to a T. Then again this was the era where Capcom wanted to badly keep the two characters separate and it got worse when Axl was invented so X was not allowed to potentially expand his shooting range to 8 directions. This was the bad era of MMX games after all.
you're on crack
>X knows how to use the saber as early as MMX3. He copies the same move to a T
True, but keep in mind just how long that move also took to charge.
Sure Zero took a long charge to do that too, but that might've been more from a balancing perspective instead of story-wise.
Axl was a mistake
Axl is cool yall are just mean
Being rushed doesn't explain the design of Rainy Turtloid's arena which prevents Zero from using his weakness against him, or the absolute shitload of spikes and the abysmal crusher sections in Gate's stages.
Axl got better in x8 and command mission, but both games didn't get a good chance to shine.
CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGE SHOT
I think you misunderstand, the Z saber in general is his absolute weakness and Zero is fundamentally OP in this game. As for the crusher in Gate's stage, that's for zero only.
Gate's stages in general are all hot garbage, specially the one where you're just sent to the next one after beating meme max and TOO FUCKING BAD if you die better start both stages again from the start bitch nigga
>Ah yes of course Sigma is a gigantic robot again sure how excitin-
>Theme starts playing
It's not if you did, it's if you restart. The PSX games have been forgiving in that regard. Still, having to face hi max then gate back to back is terrible.
Oh yeah and I hope you beat High Max using Blade Armor, otherwise good fucking luck
X6 is nothing if not incredibly forgiving with its checkpoint system. All a game over is is an opportunity to leave the stage that's pissing you off.
>I hid myself in order to repair myself
>we will never get remakes up to Maverick hunter X6
>we will never have a good version of X6
>X6 will forever be a steaming pile of shit full of wasted potential
It honestly hurts. The game could have been fantastic if it wasn't just made to be a cash grab.
He made that up.
The X6 customizer hack makes the game significantly more tolerable. Things like giving normal/Shadow X an air-dash and remapping Zero's dive attack to the sub-weapon button are invaluable.
I HID MYSELF
You can blame Capcom for wanting to put MHX on PSP. A multi platform release would have fixed that problem.
>PS2 version
TO FIND OUT WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR
Reminder that the original plan for the PS2 X Collection was to redub X4's cutscenes and re-translate all of X6, but Capcom wanted to save those for the PSP remasters that nevet came and so those decisions were undone.
Someone should make a X6 hack or something.
>Sigma screams, explosions happening and the controller on rumble effect
>GWAAAAAAAAAAA!!
>I WILL! I..... WILL...
>WOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Is fucking amazing.
>level design bad
Leaps of faith with spikes everywhere offscreen is pretty bad level design, yes.
Look at this noob.
The entire reason Capcom put Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X on the PSP was so they could fail and they'd have an excuse to ignore Mega Man completely. They were still really upset at Inafine during that time.
Moreso than any of X6's bad design choices, being forced to go Gate 2/3 back to back without saves is the worst. How this design choice made it past even the 10 minutes of QA this game possibly had time for is beyond me. I can take the rest of X6's punches but having to do both the worst stage and fight the most tedious boss in the next stage with no saves inbetween makes me actually mad to think about.
There's small ones to fix how nightmare effects work and shit like that. But no one wants to put in the effort to fix the stage design, because they'd basically have to scrap everything for some stages and make something brand new from the ground up.
>Leaps of faith with spikes everywhere offscreen is pretty bad level design, yes.
Such as?
I feel so bad for anyone who used Shadow armor to get through Gate 2. Absolute horseshit to be forced to either make a pixel perfect jump with an unthinkable exploit to cross a certain gap or just play through the previous stage all over again, but without being able to just ignore all the spikes.
There is like 2 or 3 places with this issue. And only is a real problem on gate lab 2.
DESSBO
Commander Yammark's stage. Gate's stages. There's also two places where you can't move forward without an air dash. Let's also not forget that you can lock yourself into having to game over by running into High Max before getting a special weapon.
Whats the difference?
Run like shit and worse res.
Game is build for GC mate.
I made a perfect investment then.
Even has exclusive collectables, though requiring a GBA and link cable to obtain. All the PS2 version had was a demo of X8.
Never died in these, maybe ur just bad?
Yanmark's stage was one of the easiest, you just suck.
The guitar play in the whole soundtrack is fucking amazing.
the good shit(tm)
youtube.com
melody is just a tiny bit too repetitive but I really like the song
>never died in Gate stages
Bullshit. Yammark is believable but he's right in that there's one infamous leap of faith onto a moving enemy platform over a bed of spikes, about halfway through the cavern part of the stage.
why do they feel the need to call it mega "man" , not all of us identify as such...
I could believe him if he was big brained, farmed to max souls, and was just generally good at exploiting the game.
Since YOU are not Mega Man, why does it bother you?
literally never ever died to any of these
cope and acquire proficiency
Maybe on a replay but you can't prepare for that shit blind, you learn it through hard knocks. Gate stages don't give a fuck.
I think you're shitposting.
Because they've always been men with the exception of Aile and maybe Atlas.
So what was the point of the entire Megaman universe? The blue boy fights bad guys for years, and every so often the entire world just gets destroyed. Not even just once, but multiple times.
>a massive boom happens to bring the world into the X era
>the sigma/elf wars kill most of humanity, leading to the zero era
>weil being pissy kills most of humanity again, leading to the ZX era
>Albert flooding the entire world and succeeding in killing off all humans leads to the Legends era
There is no hope in man.
>Abusing invencibility frames to get Rainy Turtloid's armor piece earlier
>Double Jumping at the right spot with Zero to reach the piece in Heatnix's stage
Feels Nice
The fight for everlasting peace never ends
When the fuck is Corrupted coming out? It has been like, what, 7 years?

If there was one thing the series could never go wrong in, it was the music.
After all those years I finally realized, that MVC megaman theme is a remix of MM2 title screen.
I'M METAL MAN NO I'M NOT A DENTIST > Everything else
X6 is horrible, but has the best music since X2.
Mega man needs a X6 2.
came into this thread to post that, thank you
>Heatnix
>worse than Gate 2
Half a dozen donuts is better than half a dozen totems.
Actually yeah I gotta concede that. Second worst level
I'd rather not.
X6's ideas weren't bad, the problem was that it was a rushjob cash grab of a game.
Like Ryu's theme in an unorthodox move is the title theme for SFII. They made plenty of strange choices.
I've heard HideofBeast's runs are tool assisted, is that true?
This. If you look over the game's story there's actually a really interesting and well-though-out plot (screwed over by the awful translation job) and with a little more work a lot of the design problems can easily be fixed.
X4>X>X2>>>>X3
Actually pretty fitting since he changes to Ken or Akuma mode.
I really miss this.
If they meant a remake I didn't get it the first time. Otherwise I agree entirely, especially since like X4 Mavericks were not the epicenter of the antagonists.
X6 tried to improve on X5's ideas.
Rescuing specific hostages gave you specific skills, instead of all the random shit in the previous game. This already is a major improvement.
Soundtrack is superb.
The universal agreement on why the game is bad is because of the horrible stage design, which frankly is the main part of a 2D platformer.
I'd say about 80% of X6's stage design is adequate. The problem is a.) how obnoxious that remaining 20% is and b.) how thoughtlessly they implemented the Nightmare system on top of these stages as they were clearly not designed to harmonize with all of these effects yet can be subject to most any of them.
The nightmare mechanic is rather unfinished too. It's the same three, and the screen darkening one is just annoying.
It's very possible since his movement is so fucking perfect, but hey with this kind of shit you just choose what to believe
I choose to believe that his autism is second only to Pannenkoek.
That's true
If you're playing as Black Zero of course
Also since this is primarily an X6 thread:

I can believe it just on account of being an RNG autist myself and getting the Diploma at Level 5 in Paper Mario with no Stone Cap abuse
Some of the shit is so close it makes you wonder, but forcing yourself into single-segment mode for shit like Xtreme Ground Scaravich would definitely confer upon you the ability to know almost every pixel of your own hitbox
his Gate stages are so goddamn good, the fight with Nightmare Mother is absolutely ridiculous
What is it about Black Zero that comes off as so fucking CHAD?
Black Zero boosts my testosterone levels by 100%
I
This game is the worst rushed piece of shit I've ever played and I loved every second of it.
By the way Nightmare Mother is easy, Mijinion is much worse
his commentary sells it pretty well idk
i choose to believe
>that absolute madman playing X and Zero at the same time in the same fucking controller
I beat X4 like 20 times as a kid. 15 of those runs were Black Zero runs. He's just so goddamn based.
Very good color palette and shits on any game he's in
FIGHTING
You can bullshit Mijinion by going to his stage last and facetanking him with a huge healthbar and his weakness, Nightmare Mother will rape your asshole no way around it
I've seen a few of those dual playthroughs. It seems impossible at first, but it's mostly about finding out how/where to "park" one screen and play the other, and vice versa.
>Tfw going back to vanilla x3 after project zero.
Those QOL updates make ton of difference.
>not posting his eyes
You now realize the green sensors aren't his eyes
That's a different kind of impressive but it's still impressive. For example the way he set it up so Metal Shark Player's introduction was playing on X's side while he was facing the mini-boss on Zero's side so that he'd be able to face both the mini-boss and the boss while one side was always occupied by a cutscene of transition of some sort was genius, and it must be hard as shit to get it to actually sync up right while playing.
