To convey how dry and dull their humor is

They always put a big variety of ambiences, don't they?

Why do most Action RPG games have a desert level as the second act?

To emphasize the fertility of the cute girls.

The one in Ys 7 was pretty far into the game

not sure how true it is but I heard deserts are easier to produce in development and also less stressful on the platform they are targeting, since they have to make a build that can run on the most platforms to make a profit.

The desert is the second area what are you talking about

Japanese games use a variety of locations

same reason with dbz

They like cute girls in bellydancing outfits.

Xenogears also did this

its one of the four template stage themes: forest, ice, desert, and lava.

Daily reminder that this game scored better than Anthem

Based

The truly based area themes are culture/country based
>forest: japan, celtic, native americans
>desert: arabia, india, egypt
>ice: canada, slavic, antarctica (eskimos)
>lava: hawaii

Diablo 2 di it too

So do I.

It's an environment their islands lack

What game?

easy to build

>litterally nothing

So you understand why they do it, then.

Skies of Arcadia

This
>put some flat terrain with lumps here and there
>throw some rocks in
>slap a single texture on it

I dunno if it's true, but I've heard that when it comes to different biomes/exotic locations, Japanese people really like deserts because it's one of the few types of areas that don't exist in Japan or have anything resembling it. It's kinda like how Americans always dream of a getaway to Cancun, Hawaii, or some other island. We got everything else, just not tropical stuff in the mainland.

>or have anything resembling it.

Meant to say "AND they don't have anything resembling it."
