Pathologic 2

>ice-pick.com/en/category/news/
Final dev update before the launch next thursday.

>steam and GOG keys are now available. Artbook and soundtrack already available on steam, will be later on GOG
>console launch scheduled for after the pc launch
>physical rewards will be produced and shipped as soon as the money rolls in
>polyhedral room, whatever that is, will be included in the Bachelor storyline, so not yet
And the "ingame event" backer reward probably has something with that damned invisible cat.

Wait

Dope ass game honestly, not for casuals though.

Redpill me on Pathologic 2, how are they making a sequel to the first game?

Do your research

It's a remake, not a sequel
Have no idea why they picked that name.

I'm doing that right now. There's no better way to do research than posting obvious bait in a thread for an obscure game to get people engaged

Could be a ruse cruise.

>already have pathologic 2 in library because of marble nest
>choose steam key, this disables GOG key
>"this game is already registered to your account!"
That was pretty dumb of me.
But I guess that means the steam key is still valid?

God forbid people enter a thread because they're interested and ask people in the thread about the game.

It's a remake/sequel/soft reboot/reimagining.
Same setting and story, but supposedly different enough from the original to not be redundant. No one really knows to what extent yet, but we'll find out soon.

Are there any other games like pathologic? I really like games with objectives and time limits.

What a short-lived thread.

Attached: 1492298689161.jpg (307x269, 17K)

Majora's Mask, the time limit is pretty forgiving though, since you can always rewind the three days.

I looked through the archive for Pathologic 2 threads and they all die pretty quickly. I have no idea where the hype for this game went but it saddens me.

It's an obscure Russian game, why would it have hype?

Pathologic and Ice Pick Lodge are pretty popular here, but I guess not anymore.

It's been a long time since I've been this excited for a game, I even bought the OST and art book to help out IPL.

They're popular among a small group, maybe.

Pathologic threads only last really long when all the ~10 anons who care about the game are awake at the same time. That usually happens once every few months.

>Pathologic and Ice Pick Lodge are pretty popular here
The fanbase is very dedicated, sure, but still small.

They'll blow all the money on booze, and fund the next episode by selling their kidneys again

There's seven of us here right now! Discuss how lack of communication and trust led to everything going to hell.

As long as they finish Bachelor and Changeling routes I don't care.

How's it going to hell? Pathologic is one of the few games were the episodic format actually can work.

I'd prefer Bacherlor's scenario first as Haruspex reveals stuff about the town that as a new comer you don't know, but hey ho.

>How's it going to hell?
People dying left and right is bad, user.

I hope we'll get more threads going when 2's out

I like to think they went with Haruspex first because everyone played Bachelor first in the original.

Oh I thought you mean with development.

Unless people are dying on the team too.

You're in the pub and this guy comes up and slaps your Herb Bride's ass, what do you do?

Attached: 1536511371607.jpg (1920x3270, 285K)

Not that I'm aware, no.

It's weird how threads for 2 are so dead. I remember pathologic threads used to hit bump limit.

I empty a revolver into him.

>Polyhedral room definitely pushed back to Bachelor storyline, which will DEFINITELY happen, guys, we PROMISE
>but physical rewards are still waiting on funds ;^)
I don't mean to sound like some concerntrolling anti-shill, but...... worry.png

>Discuss how lack of communication and trust led to everything going to hell.
Personally, I blame Saburov and that morphine-addicted sow he keeps locked in his basement.

Attached: 1504359917116.jpg (493x380, 165K)

Take damage from his presence, back away slowly and go hang out with the bums.

>Bachelor
Faggot.

This is clearly a hallucination, I should go easy on the twyrine.
...Why is my face melting?

Attached: 1492298499793.png (170x243, 51K)

The development team can run thee hundred hectares on a single tank of kerosene, it'll be fine.

still haven't played the original even though i own it

Did they release numbers on how many preorders they got? Thanks for this thread I didn't realize it was coming out so soon. I bought like 4 of my friends copies of the first game but no one played it.

Why not?

Honestly, yeah. Saburov is the one most responsible for things going to hell.

How bugged do you think the game will be?

Attached: 1501864722723.jpg (707x449, 123K)

Pathologic Classic HD is 90% off right now, I know the answer is going to be yes but is this really worth playing given the remake coming out soon?

Daniil > rest

Attached: skyward.jpg (900x675, 156K)

yes

I think it will still be worth playing on its own merits.

Do I need to play the first one to enjoy the 2nd?

What do you have to lose?

I'm more concerned about perfomance issues than bugs.
How big is the overlap between EYE fans and pathologic fans?

Attached: Around Jians, watch your back.webm (800x450, 3M)

Wait it's going to be fucking episodic? What the hell happened?

cause i know the game is kind of an investment plus i'm playing through other stuff right now which kinda just keeps delaying it if i ever do want to play it

no

I've only played through the Bachelor route in the HD remaster and I'm not feeling like playing through another route before the remake comes out. Should I just play Pathologic 2 when it comes out since they conveniently start with the Haruspex?

They ran out of money, multiple times. And the "episodes" are characters in this case.

I love Pathologic but never played EYE. Don't really care much for shooters, is the game really that interesting?

They've never been very good with budgets, and on top of that the russian economy took a nosedive during development.

Attached: Where's the money, Dybowski.jpg (601x441, 126K)

i'm doing the same, user. we could still play the original haruspex route if other people say that the new one is different, but i want to enjoy this game D1 unspoiled and without any guide available

It's not really going to hold you if you're not into crazy shooter mechanics but it's quite interesting for that sort of game.

Basically they ran a Kickstarter for a remake of the first game, then the Russian Economy ate shit and it caused a lot of issues including needing to find a publisher in TinyBuild and when they did that it was determined to call the game Pathologic 2 due to the remake having significant differences to the original and wanting to distinct them as two separate titles. Even then the game's still going to be semi-episodic due to development issues caused so the game's only releasing initially with the Haruspex with the Bachelor and Changeling being added later.

Where the fuck is Marble Nest now? I didn't see it on Ice Pick anymore either.

Literally tech demo

God I hope it runs better than the Marble Nest.

I know but I can't find it, all I see is the news explaining that it'd be replaced by the Pathologic 2 demo and links that lead to the Pathologic 2 Steam page.

>is the game really that interesting?
It's a very different flavour of eurojank.
Pathologic was made by a bunch of russian existentialist artists on vodka, EYE was made by a bunch of french anime nerds on acid.
Pathologic is all about story with little to no gameplay, EYE is ALL about the gameplay and the story is an afterthought (actually, the story and background are very fleshed out, based on the devs homebrew tabletop RPG, but the writing level and coherence are all over the place)

I don't know what kind of games you enjoy, so consider the following things about EYE:
>you have a spell that makes enemies explode by summoning a werewolf inside their bodies, and another one that makes them explode by teleporting yourself inside of them
>you can throw cars at people and cosmic horrors alike
>there's usually several paths to your objective, but sometimes you have to hack a door to open a path. If you're shit at the hacking minigame, the door will hack you instead.
>you can do critical backstabs on attack helicopters
>once you have some upgrades, gravity is no longer a concern
>64 player coop

why do slavs make the best games, bros?

Pathologic 2 will be the first game I'm buying since 2013

3/10 pathologic fans like EYE. Literally. There's three of you.

>Thank you very much for watching. I am Tyler McVicker. This is Valve News Network. Have a good day. Adios.

Marble Nest ran fine for me.

On my new PC I bought last year. Couldn't even play it on my old toaster.

Just torrent it like I did.

I guess that means there's me, and user there in the corner, but who's the third one?

is the game running with wine/proton?
gog key or steam key?

Certainly not me.

30 seconds in the archives. This is probably unpatched though, not that it makes a big difference.

so, lads was the changeling's sister real or not?

>real

yes

Thanks for the news OP. Been waiting for this for quite some time.

no

Ask me again after I had some twyrine.

maybe

Блять Дылдoвcкий ты нa 4чeнг пoшeл пиapить cвoю пapaшy?

>trying to convince me the Changeling is a real person
Do you think I was born yesterday?

Attached: 1536902668813.jpg (1800x1181, 371K)

ч

I'd play both. Seriously.

>4чeнг
Do you pronounce it "4cheng"?

It's a sequel remake, the events take place as a second attempt at the play from the first game, canonly you fucked up and the town gets nuked, Pathologic 2 starts at the end of the last day from the original game.

Based on the demos and betas there's a lot of references that it's a second attempt at the same events, think Evangelion OVAs

Attached: CHkYbBwUsAAmFkh.jpg (500x278, 15K)

The Changeling was the plague
As a spirit she's incapable of lying
So she became a thief when she said she was a healer and had a twin, and stole the destiny of the bachelor and haruspex
And she created a twin sister, who was the embodiment of the plague
Her days in the original had riddles you had to solve to figure out which house her sister was hiding in, if you failed to find it that district would get the plague dick forever; in the original translation it was borderline impossible to decipher

Are we turning this into a discussion about russian literature?
Because I love it when that happens.

Attached: Bulgakov1910s.jpg (1006x1363, 1.11M)

>starts at the end of the last day from the original game
This only makes me more confused.

Did you play the demo? It's explicitly spelled out immediately.

Wait...is this actually true?

It's an interpretation, but

I did not want to have anything spoiled for me, since I assumed that the Marble Nest is just a piece of the main game. Is it an actual prologue to the events of Pathologic 2?

The Marble Nest is a spin-off that happens on 8 day of Bachelor's story.

Nope, didn't.
I guess this will be a wild ride.

Marble Nest is a spin-off, "what if?".
Exactly what the demo is, a chunk of the finished game or a specially scripted demo, remains to be seen.

Marble Nest was a self contained setpiece, it isn't canon in regards to the finished Pathologic 2. Or perhaps it will be by the time the Bachelors route comes out, who fucking knows.
But that user was talking about the demo version of the finished build (not the alpha version either, the demo they released a month ago). In that demo, the intro starts on the 12th day with the town decimated by the plague, aka "bad ending", and Haruspex tells Mark he wants to start again from the beggining, to get another shot.

My body is ready. By the way, I'm using the Brave browser and I get no fucking captcha here.

Sell me on Brave.
I switched to Waterfox after the firefox fuckup last month, and the built-in noscript makes google think I'm a bot, so the captcha is worse than ever. And the captcha Buster doesn't work either.

i-is this a shill post for brave
>moon doesn't have an eye
E-Y-E, that spells moon!

No shill here, I'm literally the first time on Yea Forums whilst using this browser, made 36 posts so far, and had no captcha whatsoever.

By the way, here is my list of great steampunk(ish) games that I found so far:
1. Arcanum
2. Planescape: Torment
3. Sunless Sea
4. Pathologic
5. The Myst Series
6. Rise of Legends

Any further recommendations?

Oh, and I'm not sure whether it makes any difference, but I'm using it in combination with Qwant.

slavs dont have souls so they can put it in their vidya
#metoo

that's similar to the conclusion I arrived to when in the last days of her playthrough your 'sister' talked you about destiny, stealing fate and changing the past and whatnot.
I reasoned that she -like aspity- was an embodiement of the plague but when she called herself a miracle-worker and made up having a sister she basically split herself and was now one entity with 2 destinies and the 'other' clara is actually just you fulfilling your other destiny while you fullfill yours. And the fate that gets fulfilled invalidates the other, which is why if you perform the true miracle your 'sister' banishes to the steppe and takes the plague with her
something like that. i dunno man this game is an acid trip

IT ALL COMES TUMBLING DOWN,TUMBLING DOWN, TUMBLING DOOOOWN

Have you read that recent translation of the Return of Baron Munchhausen? I thought it was an interesting contemporary satire of Russia with a sense of mourning for a world now gone combined in an effective pastiche of Rapse.

Friendly reminder: 2020.

No, because it's 20 hours of nothing but walking and talking to NPCs, so you might as well wait for 2 and see if they added some gameplay to make it bearable.

I don't really care about Eva beside enjoying some of the set pieces from the tv show, back when Anno was actually still using his skills as an animator.

yeah but
but
it's been 7 years

This was a pretty cool trick, thanks user

I probably should've thought to check the Yea Forums archive, sorry.

Enjoy being a puppet in the hands of the Kains.

Only one of those games is steampunk.
