Samsho is pretty wacky at times as well, but I think people forget that stuff like that is what makes neutral fun and to some degree works. Characters and a lot of the system mechanics are weird and often very strong tools. Stuff that allows them to bullshit if you can't actually control your opponent. But that is part of neutral, a lot of modern games try to force it from the top down but that usually ends up making games lop sided. Along with making your dirty stuff very 1 dimensional. What you want is a consistent strong tool, something that allows you to go I can consistently punish or enforce this so you have to play respectful.

The games that get jerked off as neutral focused always have that mix of very strong neutral tools and strong dirty shit.

Yeah. Not a lot of setups, but it was usually pretty easy to find play when tournaments started or tops were playing.
I was already hyped by the game, and all my friends really enjoyed it too.
You have to get used to a few things, though. Characters walkspeed is hella slow, every character feel like Makoto in SF. However, the characters become really fast when running, and the backdash is pretty okay as well. Also, not everything is punishable by a 35% Strong Hit like you'd believe by the trailers (at least, normals really aren't most of the time), but you can get some pretty good punish from midslash, even better if you can cancel it (like Genjuro's rekka or Jubei's dragon).
Antiairing is also kinda weird, some characters like Earthquake don't seem to have really good tools for it when they're on the ground (his jumping mid-slash is a really good air-to-air though), but aerial attacks are still pretty punishable, especially if you time the dodge correctly.
I think I got something like 2 or 3 hours of play over the weekend. Can't say I've been really able to dig a lot into the game, but I can try to answer questions if you have any. I've mostly been playing Earthquake and Jubei.

Yeah I heard a few people saying the walk speed is stupid slow. Kinda hope that gets buffed before release, it can be annoying for footsies as weaving in and out of ranges is hard. I've been wondering if that's why I've seen a lot of players jumping a lot

Earthquake is in rage explosion mode which gives you access to a super called issen. It doesn't have invincibility, but he started it up at just the right time to dodge the teleport and then punish it

I don't mind staying this way after playing it. I think people are just not really used to dashing right now. I expect most fights will be really grounded after a few weeks .
