it was fun but literally nobody has played this
Surprisingly good game.
Isn't Reize Seatlan in this game?
Unironically what OP posted
One of the best combat systems in a metroidvania.
Hollow Knight
It was.
Behind the angsty teen aesthetics and writing hides a decent combat system. It even uses stylish ranking like DMC.
And you have to restart the boss fights until you get the best rank, if you don't want your character to be permanently gimped for the rest of the game.
My top 5 in no particular order:
ESA
HK
Rabi-Ribi
La-Mulana
Valdis Story
I would have put AM2R there instead of VS but eh, feels like it doesn't count.
How's Momodora and the new Wonder/Monster Boy games?
Momodora is very fun but way too short.
The Wonder/Monster Boys are mostly great. Was the newest one Cursed Kingdom? If so that's still fantastic.
You posted it. Loved the combat system and character building with the skill trees and boss rankings. Gilda best girl (and strongest character)
I'm probably going to buy those on Switch at some point. Also want Blaster Master 02, La Mulana 2 and the port of Rabi-Ribi.
Monster World and the Oasis series were great Sega franchises. I there were more modern incarnations.
These games are so cool. I had a lot of fun. Wish there was a nice summary of all the lore somewhere.
The worst thing about this game is how it markets itself. Wyatt is by far the least interesting character, in both gameplay and the games story
For me it's AM2R.
Wyatt is based and redpilled the other playable characters are cringe and bluepilled
>jump
>ice bolt
>double jump
>ice bolt
>triple jump
>ice bolt
>quadruple jump
>ice bolt
nothing personal, demon fucking shits
I played it for a bit. combat has potential but the programming of the movement is such ass I stopped playing. super clunk.
Are you referring to the skill cancel?
better not be. thats what makes the game good
the best
Yeah I’m really just not sure what that guy’s talking about, I thought it played great
Salt & Sanctuary
Environmental Station Alpha
Nightmare Sphere
An Untitled Story
I think Vladyn is the strongest and most braindead to play desu.
Unarmed Wyatt is very fun and has some subtlety.
It's not clunky, you just gotta remember that to maneuver around platforms correctly you have to press up and then cancel the getup with down (skill dash). And then NOT to mix up both.
Vladyn definitely is the most braindead, but I don’t see how he’s stronger than Gilda’s jump-aerial spell spam
Not him, but I'm gonna have to agree with him, it's definitely clunky. The characters are so big and the screen is so small that is basically feels like everything is on rails, there's barely any freedom of movement. It feels like a cheap flash game more than anything.
Vladyn just tears through every boss at every stage of the game with ALL his builds (except maybe light sniper memery) with minimal mechanical complexity .
Gilda can have a lot of trouble against certain early and mid bosses depending on her build, and even if she explodes late game, so does Vladyn.
I don't see how the size of the characters affect clunkiness of gameplay. Also disagree on the flash game comparison. When you master the game you just dash through the levels, ledgejump / doublejump / walljump appropriately and not missing a beat. It's not buggy, there's no forced waiting, I just can't call it clunky , though it's definitely unusual
I love this game and I'm sad it get no respect.
Are you sure you played the game?
Positive. It was awful.
Monster Boy is great, my favorite game in the genre in quite a while.
for me it's salt and sanctuary
They added 2 new playable characters? how are they?
Reina is the most boring gameplay wise. Wyatt has it way better.
With the right build Vladyn can just spam his shotgun and take down the bonus boss in seconds.
Now that you mention it, I do remember how retarded his shotgun spam was. You’re probably right
I want to play arena mode now
very strong, very different. story still very bad though
While he's a chump for anyone who learns his pattern I could see this guy being the reason a lot of people drop and badmouth the game.
>fought relatively early
>annoying rooms before him
>if you fall, you're gonna fall down repeatedly
>instakill if you're above him when he bubbles
>basically just acts like a bitch the whole fight
>"I'M OVER HERE
He, Treu and True Anenome are the only bosses in the game I'd consider bad.
Vladyn is very boring but Gilda is a lot of fun. Strong magic and 2 extra jumps. They also added some new npcs, one of which sells a double jump for every character
One uses guns and a magic, summoning demon arm. The other works completely different to the other characters fighting with spells and the ability to recharge her mana on the fly.
TREUUUUU AAAAGH
TREEEEEEUUU
Tbh Treu got way better.he used to be much buggier, much worse.
Shu Gohth though, is bad the first time, and okay the rest.
>Vladyn is boring
He's only boring if you exploit his ancient coin synergy along with Jester's Watch.
Reize is an assist but luckily he sucks shit so there's no reason to ever use him.
he's alright, not the worst
The only useful assists are
>mana wolf
>stun guy
>viking dude
>Panda
Also :
Shadoboxxer is god tier combo extender especially early on to get high rank and XP on bosses
Thunder Dragon Girl can kick ass with some builds
>Unarmed Wyatt
That was fun, especially getting S rank on that secret boss I don't remember the name of.
l e i l o d i n ?
Yeah, that shitter. I think I even had to switch builds. But boy the combat system is amazing, I need to replay it as someone else.
>shadoboxxer
God what a fucking edgy name, I love it
I fucking love this game.
You're now aware it's is almost 6 years old
>getting my ass beat on leilodin as gilda
>experiment with different magic types
>poison does 500 fucking damage a second to her
>EZ S rank
I don’t know if that was an oversight or if it was intended
I remember using the autistic fedora guy for a heal/defensive buff, I think
>beating the superbosses before the rework
>back when their hp scaled off how many times you killed their respective enemies
None who pick it up now understand our shared pain.
I know right, was grinning as I was typing it
She's so broken in late game if you go full Int.
And I think hers is the rarest cheevo on godslayer. Why?
Who?
>he
Fuck. I thought it was a tomboy. Yuffie knokc-off basically.
I started my first run on nightmare, is that a mistake? I killed the first 3 bosses so far with S ranks which was already hard enough but I'm wondering if it's going to get much, much worse. My autism prevents me from finishing with a lower rank since you get stats for it, so I'd rather just start over on a lower difficulty and get all S rank than win with a lower rank. also I only got SSA for the three scores in the boss fights for an overall S, is there a better rank if you get SSS?
No, two S’s and an A is sufficient for the best rank
the first part of the game can be the hardest for some characters. gilda especially, I die at least one time to azudor EVERY time on godslayer, dammit
A shitty deviantart OC that gets shilled into games via kickstarter by his creator and his autismbucks.
He's in shovelknight too. He's even the final boss of a dlc.
>He's even the final boss of a dlc.
Yiikes.
>check out the creator
>is a fucking negro who wants to be a white dude
Yikes
What are other 2D action platformers, don't even have to be metroidvanias, that have the same sense of lovely stylish point-loving action that VS has?
He's the wilhelm scream of indie devs
I'm playing as the monk girl that's unlocked at the start. So far it seems like a lot of my damage comes from casting an elemental buff and then punching things so I've been putting all of my points in STR. I was wondering though if there's a different stat for boosting the buff that would be better.
Dont let the heavy pricetag put you off, this is a AAA metroidvania youll easily sink 20 hours into.
The quality is outstanding
salt and sanctuary was too fucking good
Also I should mention the reason I'm curious is that the A rank I got on the bosses was time so I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong or I just need to level more to get S in time
Timespinners was good, too bad it's only like 5-10 hours max.
I like building her into Agi crit machine.
STR Reina is sure a weird build, I actually have never tried
Fairy Bloom Freesia, Rain Blood and Icey come to mind.
the artstyle is offputting, what's good about it ?
Wonder Boy remake is on sale right now, worth it?
Castle in the Darkness
I fucking hate salt and sanctuary. played it for hours, and had a bunch of character. Had to do a clean PC reinstall one day
No cloud saves.
It was also a very different game at launch. The developers supported the game with updates for a good long time, including 2 new playable characters
The developers are like 2 people. A married couple, i think
