Switch version was on sale for $30 a few months ago.
>Rage 2 was day 0 crack
I waited 1 year i could wait a couple of years
Yeah. Actually wanted this game. But the 60dollar mark. Y I K E S.
Rage 2 was a day 0 crack because they didn't implement Denuvo on one version. Don't be obtuse, you already knew that.
EAT IT UP
Considering PC is digital only, it should be $50 at most
Better than no port at all, just pirate it
>$0 on fitgirl-repacks
Its a shit game, you dont want it anyway
Would you have bought it if it did not had denuvo?
Stop pirating games you fags
No, because it's also $60. If it was $45 and it had no denuvo, I would.
You should pirate games with Denuvo on principle.
no :)
imagine being this cucked, holy shit
it's a shit game, you're not missing out on anything. it gets circlejerked here because it is (was) nintendo exclusive.
if you want to try it that much just wait 3 days for the crack
pirate?
its really easy anons, if the game has a price and DRM that convinces you, buy it, if it doesn't, pirate it
there are literally no consequences to pirating and you are free to support any developer you want when they actually put out a decent thing
Make more posts like this and I'll pirate MORE games. I pirate shit I already own. I pirate shit I fuckin' paid for.
I'm not 100% certain, but it wasn't a few months ago. It was actually A month ago. And it was on sale around Black Friday / Christmas.
>say something positive about Octopath Traveler
''LEL, Switchfags have no games to play, so they shill this piece of shit!''
>say something negative about Octopath Traveler
''Aww, is someone mad because it's not Switch exclusive anymore?''
With ths board, you can never win. But seriously, it's a good game with an amazing soundtrack. But it's not worth 60 dollars/euros. And I bought it on day 1.
This was 1 of 2 Switch games I sold few days after purchase...
The first 2-3 hours are good thanks to the visuals, but it becomes boring with shit storylines, repetitive combat and nonsense design (I walked into a lvl 20 zone from a lvl 10 just because I made a wrong turn and got wiped out in the second turn of the combat).
It's 70$ in Russia, when regular AAA price is around 30$
Why are Switch exclusives leaving the system?
>80+ hours length
>voice acting
>that soundtrack
>the visuals
>amazing battle system
>HURR DURR IT'S NOT WORTH 60$
Im not paying 60 bucks. Fuck devs.
Square Enix isn't owned by Nintendo
>voice acting is worth paying for
Fucking zoomers
It's nice that you put 80+ hours length at top, like it's the most important segment of the game. if you are older than 30 and were growing up during the PS1 era, then you know that the majority of those RPGs were 30-40 hours long, and people had no problems with it. Now, games (not every, but a huge number of them) are long for absolutely no reason. Take Dragon Quest 11 - that is a perfect example of a game that is 3 times longer than it should be.
I have no complaint about all other things you mentioned becuase I agree with you. But you forgot to mention the important part, the story. It's not very good and characters don't interact with each other.
Game is pretty disappointing anyway.
Then stop giving me reasons to pirate them
+ hours length
Make half of that.
>>voice acting
Ah yes, because it's so rare nowadays.
>>that soundtrack
Nothing special
>>the visuals
Vomit inducing
>>amazing battle system
>amazing
Oh please, it's FF5 with the usual gauge break gimmick you'll find in tons of games.
Whats Denuvo?
>80 hours
nigga hold the fucking phone
what the fuck did you even do that need 80 hours?
i clear all 8 stories and doing all side quest and it was 60 max
Denuvo Anti-Tamper, more commonly known as Denuvo, is an anti-tamper technology and digital rights management (DRM) scheme developed by Austrian software company Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH, a subsidiary of Irdeto.
>developed by Austrian software company
...and some people say Hitler is the worst thing that came out from Austria.
Thanks user
>But you forgot to mention the important part, the story. It's not very good and characters don't interact with each other.
No, Gameplay is the important part and it's the area where Octopath succeeds the most, clearly. The gameplay and its battle system, party customization and dozens of epic boss battles more than make up for any other flaw the game has.
t. never played the game
Length can varies depending on how you play the game. If you try to rush through the games and just want to complete it, of course it's going to be. Personally I grinded for about a few hours total and also spent hours exploring the world looking for items and summons for H'aanit. Pic related.
And how do YOU know that?
>I have no argument so you never played the game
wow, two reddit posts in a row
You wouldn't be saying that if you played the game though.
>You wouldn't be saying that
Sure buddy, keep believing that.
>I'll hide behind smug anime faces to distract you from the fact I posted either incredibly easy to debunk arguments or subjective opinions passed off as facts
You probably think playing the first 10 hours of a 80+ hours long game then dropping it counts as "playing" the game you fucktard.
If it didn't have denuvo it would be immediately pirated and you'd be screaming "based fitgirl!" or some shit.
>tfw piratefags will never experience the wonders of handball 17
Not really, I like having games on Steam
I mean, if you posted a screenshot of your Switch profile with Octopath Traveler and the amount of hours played then I'd be more likely to believe you.
In the meantime, you shall be labeled a shitposter. Good day.
>>>that soundtrack
>Nothing special
>WAAAAH HE'S DERIDING MY SHITTY OPINIONS WITH SMUG ANIME FACES
Shut the fuck up and "debunk" those arguments already, you passive aggressive faggot.
For one smartass, how do you explain the pic at even though the game is supposedly 40 hours long according to you?
I don't often post here let alone reply to such inane garbage, however I feel that it's worth mentioning that for anyone on the fence here, this game cannot boast having voice acting. If this has voice If this has voice acting, so do Pokemon games. 90% of the voice acting is someone saying "Hmmm...." Or in-battle attack lines (literally 1-2 per char), and 1 (maybe 2?) per char of when you win a fight / defeat an enemy. Extremely repetitive garbage. There are some stoey segments that are voice acted but at least 90% of dialogue is not. If you've played Battletech, it's llike that. Maybe a few words or a "No!" When the line is something like "No, I won't follow you into that tavern! Haven't you heard about the quality of the characters who frequent that place?!" - one word out of about 20 is voiced. Maybe. And just like fallout 1 and 2, most characters have no voice actingat all.
Underrated
I certainly remember most if not all cutscenes having the character speak full sentences and shit. Are we playing the same game?
It's the best thing about the game and it's 7/10 at best. That includes more standout tracks like the battle thene and town theme.
>cutscenes
This is the only voiced part. Cutscenes are usually voiced even in games with otherwise no voice acting.
No there are fully voiced conversations that transpire during the main quest only. Quality work too.
I don't have to explain anything about some fag who even admitted he wasted time grinding around.
The game is mediocre, it starts off with an interesting premise but constantly underdelivers in every single aspect of the games it tries to ape, it's another one of those games for people who don't really play or like JRPGs and don't know any better than mediocrity, or simply can't deal with something that isn't deliberately mediocre.
seriously. Who even plays handball? Like come on, even in real life who the fuck watches handball?
$84 maple bucks
Nah fuck that, I'll keep playing the superior turn based JRPG until this goes on sale
nah nigger, it's easily 8 or 9 and blows many recent releases out of the water. The transitions in particular are masterful and do wonders for the game's mood.
youtube.com
>Cutscenes are usually voiced even in games with otherwise no voice acting
Not true, you haven't played many games. Voice acting is production values and raises the price whether you care about it or not. I personally don't give a flying fuck about voices, especially in a game like Octopath but I still don't think that it's fair to be so entitled to voices that you disregard them when considering the game's price.
>$83.99
Canada is collapsing bros
Dude, if you're going to shit on the game you could at least say something about it.
You know, like actual criticisms?
All of this is bullshit. I'm currently 50 hours in and haven't done a single chapter 4 yet. Also missed plenty of optional stuff so far.
The systems are very well done and you can figure out many diverse strategies for all of the challenges provided. Not sure what you'd consider a better JRPG since I play lots of such games and most pale in comparison.
Soooo you're going to completely ignore my argument & evidence suggesting that you vastly underestimated the game's length? Ok retard
>On steam
DAY 1 BUY FUCK OFF NINTENDO FAGGOTS AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!
>Not sure what you'd consider a better JRPG
Ys VIII, Tales of Vesperia, Radiant Historia
Yes? Go on.
Already bought
Music was pure ass i uninstalled in about 10 mins.
That guy probably didn't even play the game. Why waste your time arguing with him.
Of course he didn't, why do you think he's talking in nothings rather than about the game?
I wish I could disagree, but I can't. FUCK the music in DQ11. Love the game and platinumed it but for fucks sake the music.
I've done everything in the game and it took me 100 hours flat. Could've probably trimmed it down to 85 or something had I not bothered experimenting with almost every possible action on every NPC, but it's definitely a long game with tons of content.
> 50/50 chance i will regret buying it for 60
>Money is not a object at the moment
Guess i don't give a fuck good bad or otherwise i'm such a moron LMFAO!
>you could at least say something about it.
I already did, you want me to go into details, I can, but I'd rather talk about what I liked rather than what I disliked.
I liked the path actions even though they were rendered pointless by the fact that you could access all of them whenever you wanted, which means there's no actual commitment to them and all of those supposed unique actions end up being just common tools locked behind a clunky system.
I liked the multiple MC premise before it turned out that it didn't matter and the cast was just that, just eight characters, the same exact mistake Legend of Legacy did, but even there Legend of Legacy still had more commitment to your MC of choice.
I liked the down to earth stories of most characters, it did make the world feel more believable...until they turned out to be all connected to a generic big bad, but they were still pleasant for most of them.
I liked the idea of a relevant weakness system, until I found out that all the weaknesses were arbitrary and the game didn't follow any real logical system behind them, it's better than most Squareshit in that regard, but barely.
I liked the amount of freedom of progression you have, it was perhaps the only thing the game did flawlessly in theory, were it not for the fact that you have random encounters
>Inb4 you have passives for reducing those
Doesn't mean shit, random encounters were bad back then and they're bad now, especially for a game like Octopath.
It's an incredibly flawed game that doesn't go above mediocre unless, and only unless you don't play many JRPGs to begin with, and if that's the case I can understand getting your mind blown, but the game isn't anything special to anyone who does.
>The systems are very well done
The system are SNES tier, and low SNES tier, not even high.
>Not sure what you'd consider a better JRPG since I play lots of such games and most pale in comparison.
You don't play shit boy, you're not fooling anyone.
>The system are SNES tier, and low SNES tier, not even high.
No clue what this is supposed to mean.
Not even trying to fool anyone autist, if you think any of what I said is false you can explain why without playing at being an authority on the subject. You can do that if you tried right?
You sound like a zoomer buddy.
Do you really call that detail?
Look here for instance
>I liked the multiple MC premise before it turned out that it didn't matter and the cast was just that, just eight characters, the same exact mistake Legend of Legacy did, but even there Legend of Legacy still had more commitment to your MC of choice
This entire chunk is just you saying you didn't like it without saying why.
Was it the fact that they didn't interact outside of party chat?
Was it the general story?
Or was it a specific character?
I don't think you know the difference between posting a lot and posting something substantial.
You don't buy physical game for PC???
not even responding to all that barf, but
>I liked the idea of a relevant weakness system, until I found out that all the weaknesses were arbitrary and the game didn't follow any real logical system behind them, it's better than most Squareshit in that regard, but barely.
undeads are weak to light. Clothies are weak to swords. Birds are weak to bows. Et cetera.
But keep trying to criticize a game you apparently know nothing about.
>The system are SNES tier, and low SNES tier, not even high.
Stop charging games for $60, fag.
>JRPG
I'm not falling for this fucking meme again. I wasted enough money on Dragon Quest.
>until I found out that all the weaknesses were arbitrary
Saying something is arbitrary doesn't mean it is you retard. Most of the enemies outside of bosses with shifting weaknesses have set and logical weaknesses like bird or flying enemies always being weak to spears or bows.
To late bought it for 60 wat do now?
60 buckaroos is a steep fucking price for a port, but it is as close to a throwback to the good old days we can possibly get.
The story breaks my immersion.
Like in Primrose's chapter 3 when she gets stabbed after the boss battle. The game expects you to believe she's alone even though a boss fight just happened. It really takes me out of the story because it's so jarring.
Or in Olberic's chapter 4, the guards charging a toll for entry is supposed to be this huge deal even though I'd been to that city several times before that chapter and never had to pay a toll. The world is not cohesive
you have been in every single Octopath thread in recent memory. Same excuses every time. Why do you persist in threads for a game that you obviously do not like? Do you hate yourself?
Older than you.
>This entire chunk is just you saying you didn't like it without saying why.
Because there's no commitment to any of them, I thought I made it clear?
Especially for a game that starts with the premise of multiple characters you can select, which ends up having no impact on anything outside of where you start the game from.
Having just eight playable characters on top of it all is pretty damn disappointing, if the game did lock your main character so that you'd only see their story and could only use their path ability it would be a bit better, but as it is, it's piss poor.
>undeads are weak to light. Clothies are weak to swords. Birds are weak to bows.
Yeah, meanwhile pirates are weak to bows and lightning while other humans like the retainers somehow aren't, a river bug is weak to spears while a slayer bug somehow isn't despite being both bugs, Omar is weak to spears (and daggers) despite wearing heavy armor while a faggot in a dress like Werner is somehow weak to Axes of all things (and also daggers).
There's zero logic and very little consistency outside of the weakness system itself making little sense.
>Because there's no commitment to any of them, I thought I made it clear?
Which means absolutely nothing.
>pirates are weak to bows and lightning while other humans like the retainers somehow aren't
you can't be this dumb for your supposed age. Think about it, pirates and lightning.
Find some comfort in the idea that you paid six times the actual worth of a game that will be pirated by six people other than you for free.
None of you faggots realize that the market is stable.
>RPG game
>no interactions and bad story
Yeah right, disregarded thanks for letting me know this is trash, will probably pirate and seed for others.
>SIXTY
>FUCKING
>BUCKS
No. Devs must realize having your products bought is a privilege and not a right
>caring about the story in an rpg
>not what kind of broken sets you can make
This is bait, don't bite
I don't need to collect crap.
My digital library is forever and I don't have to pay for online service in order to download from it.
>oh shit someone who played the game and didn't like it, what defense do I use now
user...
I'm asking a question. Why do you continue to come into threads for a game you don't like?
Just don't be a leaf lmao
What's the point in choosing a main character if there's no real commitment or meaning to it?
This is without going into other games with multiple characters where not only the choice does matter, you also get to play around with someone other than the MCs you didn't choose.
>Pirates are somehow naturally weaker to lightning that other human beings.
>let alone human beings wearing suits of metal armor and wielding pointy sticks
>Pirates are also naturally weak to bows but can take an axe or sword hit just fine unlike other humans
>Have the balls to call other people dumb
You're a special kind of retard are you?
No wonder you spent 60 bucks on this piece of trash.
THE ABSOLUTE STATE OF NINTENTODDLERS
the joke is PC has no physical release ever since steam exist. like 10 years ago i had a CSGO code with the actual CD but now they dont even bother putting CD in there and even games from ps4 have "updates" with cd where you need to download another 90GB to play it. #FutureOfGayming
>paying $60s to rent a license for accessing 0s and 1s
I will pirate it, thanks.
>What's the point in choosing a main character if there's no real commitment or meaning to it?
Then commit to it. Do that one story.
Its an rpg, your choices define the game.
nigga I'm done, just one thing, why are pirates/men of the sea called salty dogs, huh. This is basic pokemon shit and you failed it.
Dragon quest 11, fire emblem games, golden sun... list goes on, how many do you want me to name?
>buying
The guy clearly hasn't played the game or any rpg other than modern Persona. There's no point to this.
>Then commit to it. Do that one story.
There's no meaning in doing that one story since the game doesn't end when I complete one, nor is it any different if I choose another protagonist for another playthrough.
>why are pirates/men of the sea called salty dogs
Literal nonsense, and why are you clinging to pirates that much when I also posted other examples either way?
But by all means keep on being a retard.
>Literal nonsense, and why are you clinging to pirates that much when I also posted other examples either way?
because it was the most obvious of the bunch (people entrenched in water most of the time are weak to thunder, dumbass) and to show that you're a rambling nerd complaining about non-issues.
>people entrenched in water
So you're telling me that pirates are somehow soaking wet 24/7?
Even in a cave?
And that somehow people wearing shittons of metal supposedly should not be just as weak to lightning because?
>water
Nah, you're a fucking retard.
>There's no meaning in doing that one story since the game doesn't end when I complete one
So?
You're trying to make it sound like a problem but it really isn't.
>There's no meaning in doing that one story since the game doesn't end when I complete one, nor is it any different if I choose another protagonist for another playthrough.
Then do all of them.
Is your problem that the game is long or what?
>Literal goldfish attention span
Yeah, no wonder you think this game is good if you can't even follow a simple chat.
>not knowing what a Faraday cage is
the plebs you find on Yea Forums these days
>10 years ago I had CSGO code with actual CD
CSGO came in 2012, why do zoomers act older than their age?
You should be feeling bad for all the Octo-fans who now knows they will never get a sequel because SE clearly hates this game with a passion.
Says the person who can't stick to a single story.
Tell us how it's a bad thing. You have the choice of playing one or all of the stories so there should be no problem.
Hell do you even own the game?
Do you even have a switch.
Eh, the game sold admit 1.5m so chances of a sequel are high all things considered.
Zoomers can't stand games with text. Having to stop up their zooming and read is pure torture for a mind built on instant gratification.
>octoshit
Don't waste your time and money on this thing.
There are much better RPGs on steam right now that's not a painfully average nostalgia cashgrab.
opps it was CS source, not that it changes anything. i havent really used steam for the past 6 years or so.
>There are much better RPGs on steam right now that's not a painfully average nostalgia cashgrab.
like what?
lole
get pusy
Are you really replying to yourself with a wojak saying that other people didn't read a game they played?
What a let down. 40$ and no DRM or no buy
So I can tell anons on the fence not to buy it.
It does seem a bit too dear. I am glad and a little surprised that it is getting released though, so will still buy it.
Dragon quest XI
ColdSteel 1&2
Recettear
Final Fantasy ports
I pity the faggots who played this instead of XB2 on Switch.
It's not even a great game, it's mediocre.
Characters are nice but there is no party synergy at all, it's just 8 characters that happen to travel the same way.
Combat is fucking bad compared to bravely default, a straight downgrade.
By shitting on a game you've never played this pushing them to buy it when people call you out on your shit?
Is this just because it's not on ps4?
thanks, will try those.
>you've never played
I did
>Says the person who can't stick to a single story.
The point isn't sticking to a single story, the point is that there's literally no reason to and the game isn't built for that either, which also makes the initial choice of a main character at the beginning absolutely pointless since it has no real effect on how the game plays out outside of again, the starting point on the map, which is why I said there's no commitment to your choices, coupled with the fact that your Path actions aren't locked either (and outside of Tressa and Therion's have not much use either).
If you weren't that worried about all the blood you're leaking from your asshole and bothered reading a simple post chain you'd have got this simple complaint minutes ago.
What makes it all the more disappointing is that not even Legend of Legacy fucked up this bad on that point, at least there the game is built up around the protagonist you choose and makes you stick up with them for real.
Then why can't you ever talk about it?
Not to mention you've never posted any proof.
>denuvo
Into the pirate shopping cart it goes
I'm not the guy you've been arguing with, I'm
>No non-human party members
If they were really trying to recreate the RPGs of yore, there would be several.
If it had no DRM and was 40 you would just pirate it. Stop trying to virtue signal for e-points. If you pirate there isn't a problem, but just don't try to pretend to be on a high horse and condescending when in fact most of this board is from south america or 3rd world countries.
This game has just eight playable character, what did you expect?
>the point is that there's literally no reason to
Again, so?
How is that a problem? You as the player have the freedom to do one or all of the stories.
>put in DRM that actively impacts game performance and only affects that people that DO buy the game
developers are literally this stupid
>You as the player have the freedom of dropping the game at all times.
Makes sense.
Eat shit furfag
But it will flop on PC, which basically cuts into the profit that the game has made so far, nevermind the fact that it's evident they want the sequel to be multiplat and the PC sales numbers will dash those aspirations.
Cute.
Great, we've established that you don't actually have a problem with the game.
>But it will flop on PC
Doubt it, this is clearly a cheap port that cost nothing to make and even lacked optimization.
Oh no, the only thing we've established is that Octapologists will defend their trash with non arguments no matter what.
You haven't even said why it's bad. But hey at least you've confirmed that you haven't played the game.
>pre-ordered mhw (even with denuvo)
>pre-ordered all 3 steam yakuza games
>bought all dark souls games and skiro
Err, whatever you say buddy.
>condescending when in fact most of this board is from south america or 3rd world countries.
I'm from Brazil, but I still work and buy games. I won't buy it if it's too overpriced and have denuvo though :)
well to be fair MHW, and darksouls games with online feature enable is better than solo play.
>brazil
my condolences because game are like 3x the price based on avg living income especially nintendo games since they dont support brazil anymore. Although i really doubt "most" people are like this on Yea Forums and are probably underage.
You sound legitimately autistic. No, I don't give a fuck about making my numbers go up. All JRPGS besides maybe the Tales games have objectively shit gameplay, the draw is the story and the world and if that sucks there is literally no reason to play one.
You do know that there's a mod that replace the shitty midi songs with the orchestral version, right?
?
Why not just buy the switch version?
You're not some loser who doesn't even own a switch, right?
Fuck, you nintendofags are so astoundingly retarded.
>owning a console that can easily be emulated
awkward
Maybe if y'all didn't pirate everything then they wouldn't need DRM.
>the responses to this post
Switchkids are so absurdly defensive about their one shitty RPG. I wish Yea Forums had been around during the N64 days, I wish I'd gotten to watch you faggots defend similarly disposable garbage like Quest 64 with this kind of energy just because it's all you had.
Game looks and plays like a fucking RPGmaker game. Anyone that paid sixty dollars for this shit should be shot in the head.
>the draw is the story
Then play a VN. RPGs clearly aren't for you if you're just looking for a story.
Dude, why would you even come into a thread about a game you don't like?
lol that's why most people play rpgs you autist. If people only cared about numbers they'd just play with a calculator.
Explain the denuvo hate.
Jesus you're delusional. I'm so fucking glad I grew out of Nintendo, I'd hate to have the mental disease all you people seem to.
To pick on the morons that suck its dick.
It actually works so it makes pirates wait a few months to get the game. Or, it used to anyway. It doesn't really work anymore but they're still mad that anyone ever dared to make them wait.
>that's why most people play rpgs you autist
Most people play them for the gameplay and exploration. If they played for the story then the genre would have died long before it hit video games.
It's not even a Nintendo game. Are you really that mad because it's not on ps4?
>affects game performance
>gets cracked in a week or less
