Yeah I just played it for the first time a couple months ago and was shocked about the amount of cutscenes there were. It is mostly a movie. I would build up your character through upgrading your hp and finished gauges and also learning attacks such as finishers themselves. Stock up on health drinks as well.
isn't that the appeal?
It's like Goodfellas but Yakuza, and it's a game,
What's the legend for the different colored nodes in the ability tree? I've noticed orange are mostly just HP buffs, but the rest don't seemed to follow a pattern at first glance.
>Stock up on health drinks as well.
Judging from the Brawler tree special ability to counter attack after you got hit, I'm guessing Yakuza are not the "don't get hit" kind of games?
Kiwami 2 is gonna be my goty
>not wanting some good cutscenes to get you immersed in the world you're about to spend 100 hours in
why do people struggle to understand a movie game is a movie first and game second. that is not what Yakuza is in the slightest
If this was made by Naughty Dog or any studio in the west, Yea Forums would hate it. It's a movie game, but hey, it's okay when Japan does it.
Y3 honestly looks like the comfiest early 7th gen game ever made all with the nice washed out visuals and a hawaiian shirt for Kiryu.
I've heard some bad things but I'd love to play it and I genuinely hope it's actually coming out in the west.
Nice now that the autists have spoken the thread can continue as normal.
No missables in the newer games so don't worry about it.
T'was but a jest. Calm down.
I was just under the impression that Yakuza are the Japanese GTA, and it just throws you into a sandbox city asap.
It's okay when Japan does it
It's not even the cutscenes that bother me (even though there are a lot and they're quite slow) it's the hours of conversations you have to sit through while character models stand around staring at each other blankly. There is literally hours of this, it's what you spend most your time doing. And by the time you're fighting the last boss, less than 0.00001% of them actually mattered. Sometimes I feel like Yakuza games are more like timesinks for people with absolutely nothing to do instead of games. They could all be great if they stripped back the tedium but it seems what most people want is 100 hours of "content" even if only 10 of them are enjoyable.
Yeah I like the slightly more tropical vibe of it
That's good to hear. Although I'm afraid if I decide to platinum it, I might get stuck at mahjong, because I don't know shit about the rules. And I'm assuming there are some mahjong-related achievements, or completion requirements.
Pretty sure doesn't have anything miss-able unlike some older titles.
All minigames have a cheat item related to them. If you have such an item in your inventory and go to play the corresponding minigame you'll be prompted to use the item to win easily.
In Mahjong's case it manipulates RNG and lets you win the whole game in 1 round. Not sure if you need more than that to tick the mahong related boxes in the completion chart though.
Invest some time in learnig mahjong anyway though since it's a fun game and not as hard as it may look, it's like a more complicated poker.
You wish they were cutscenes, more like vn with even less animation variety.
>it's like a more complicated poker
Yeah, I understand that, but just the sheer number of new rules, and specialized terms is intimidating.
>fell for the weeb meme
lol Yea Forums tricks another one
the games are trash
i learned the hard way too...never again
you're trying too hard summerfag. Nice attempt though. I'd give it a 6/10.
This
I always thought it was odd that so many players felt they had to do the parts of the games they don't even enjoy. I don't know how anyone has the time to put hours into videogames that aren't good. There isn't enough time to play all the good games out there, so why slam your head against the wall doing everything in yakuza even the parts that are shit?
Kiwami 2 spoilers ahead
>introduce a bunch of really curious characters in the first few chapters
>slaughter all of them (most of them literally) in the last few chapters
chapter 16 might just be the worst written sequence I've ever had a displeasure of experiencing in a video game. Which is a shame considering how solid the main premise was and how incredible some of characters seemed in the beginning.
Also there's just way too little Ryuji. The game is at it's best when there are two big japanese dudes dropping monologues and flexing muscles at each other yet they keep barraging you with one anime plot twist after another. I legitimately wouldn't have been surprised if in that last scene they had an actual Godzilla jump on top of the building and scream I'M YOUR FATHER
Still I enjoyed it a lot, just wish there was less tasteless anime shit
Dragon Engine is so horribly made. There's no reason it should be as demanding as it is.
kill yourself, weeb faggot
stop shitposting any time
It is an interactive movie. If you're not in a cutscene all you're doing is inputting controls to make things happen in the game, there's no gameplay.
Why is Haruka so tall?
How is that shitposting? I feel the same way about all the dumb twists in pretty much all of the endings even though I love these games.
Will there be a Kiwami 3?
I'd recommend you to experience literally ANY media that isn't anime
I agree that Ryuji wasn't in the game nearly enough.
Also, I hope you used to original music mod, and not leaving on the shit new music.
Ah yes I guess monday is "movie game" thread day. Will tomorrow's bait be "Yakuza soothes autism" or "Anri Okita is ugly"? Don't have the schedule myself.
Seething resettrannie
Unlikely and frankly 3-4-5 don't need the Kiwami treatment
But it's not demanding and it looks fucking amazing
Yeah always felt that about 2 with Ryuji.
Instead of fleshing him out, they just add in more needless Majima pandering. The weirdest thing is that there's no Majima pandering in the game where there should be Majima pandering, which is 6.
Thread's fine and for once not started by the shitposter.
He's here though and samefagging as hard as possible but getting ignored as usual.
>But it's not demanding
>can barely run at 60fps @ 4K with a fucking 2080ti
I'm not saying the port is horribly optimized, the engine itself is poorly made. Welcome to Japan, I guess.
It's very demanding, and just looks okay at best.
It gets by on stylistic approach, the AA does nothing, the AO is awful and according to the Special K dev; the engine has a load of stupid shit going on which is either QLOCs fault or the Yakuza Teams.
>4K meme
Really?
>tfw Kiwami 2 completely influenced my tags
I only started last week but i'm about 30 hours in, It's a "slow burner" it grows on you, The story caught me off gaurd, it's better than i thought it would be.
I rarely play western games as well so its's pretty refreshing
The PC port is shit and has issues but it still run fine
Is the girl on the left a pornstar?
Don't understand why people here egg on the Dragon Engine's physics, Yakuza 6 was the most fun I ever had even if combat was a bit unpolished and with lacking moves. Doing a dropkick on a crowd of goons is always satisfying, the physics are fun for once.
>some of the best graphics this gen
>looks okay
You're the problem
am i the only one who like Kuze's voice?
not just that
can barely get 60fps at 1440p on a 1080
hell you should be able to do that with a 1070
I love the game, but I'm not going to defend the way the engine is poorly made. I like the engine otherwise for it's general use, but it's poorly made. Hell you can say the port is somewhat botched considering the ported it.
>I rarely play western games as well so its's pretty refreshing
Wuh?
Fuck meant Eastern/Japanese games
Steam does that with every game. Basically the game you played last completely overwrites your previously recommended tags.
>no argument
Really?
Can everyone please stop shitposting? Let's talk about the imaginary girls who, even if only briefly, distract us from how empty our lives are.
Yes, kirara asuka
>Let's talk about the imaginary girls who, even if only briefly, distract us from how empty our lives are.
I'd say that this fits the shitposting bill perfectly though you deluded fool.
The physics are great, but most people just complain about how clunky 6's fighting style was. It's great at 60fps. I just wish it wasn't so poorly made. I barely get 60fps at 1440p with a 1080ti. I should be getting 120+ considering it doesn't even look as impressive as many other games.
I'm guessing the protag has a canon wife, so no dating simulation.
>it doesn't even look as impressive as many other games.
Name them and let me laugh
I'm playing on ultra settings at 4k 60fps with a R5 1600x and a 2070
>bring up any flaw whatsoever
>omg stop shitrposting let's talk about off-topic shit
it’s gonna be hard going back to the old engine
I literally bought this game because I'm in love with Anri Okita because she's the only pornstar who regularly replies to me on twitter and once even answered some of my questions during a livechat.
Exactly. Yakuza fans would scream bloody murder if the games had less content in them, but at the same time they also complain about half the stuff that's in them and how repetitive they are. Nobody wants to say that these games would all benefit from being half the length because as you say, they want to kill time more than they want a good game.
not him but the game still has low as fuck quality textures
Texture aren't everything in videogames and they're still perfectly fine.
>play le wacky taiwanese criminal game
>get teleported into absurdist kino
Crysis
It might be monday, but I have no job or school to go to today, or any social engagements. Here I am, making sure nobody criticizes ANY aspect of any yakuza game. Will probably do the same tomorrow. Feels fucking good.
Prove it.
Pretty much
It's a symbolic metaphor, you wouldn't understand.
The Witcher 3
I'm also getting 60fps on my 1060 with a R1600
It runs better than Yakuza 0 for me which stutter all over the place because it never wanted to lock to 60 no matter what I did.
I'm playing Yakuza 0 for the first time too, just unlocked cabaret club and now I just love screwing around in the world so much, doing sidestories and fucking with minigames. This game is genuinely fun and I haven't had fun in games in a while, I can even live with the >japanese humor
It might be monday, but I have no job or school to go to today, or any social engagements. Here I am, making sure everyone regurgitates the same idiotic nitpicky bullshit everyone already knows about instead of discussing the game and pretends it's """criticism""". Will probably do the same tomorrow and then every single day and thread after that. Feels fucking good.
Lol
Do you want to talk about Yakuza or not? Which girl do you think is the cutest?
>60fps on my 1060
yeah at 1080p and details lowered heavily
>dancing minigame
i've taken atleast 100 attempts but i've done it.
based, these threads are best when we don't talk about the flaws in the series or wheat might be improved in future games
>I'm playing on ultra settings at 4k 60fps
>2070
>It might be monday, but I have no job or school to go to today, or any social engagements
Damn, that sucks. Where did it all go so wrong user?
>still talking to himself while everyone ignores him
You are the most obvious shitposter my dude. Literally everyone here knows exactly which posts are yours.
>I'm playing on ultra settings at 4k 60fps with a R5 1600x and a 2070
>LITERALLY saying nobody can criticize the games because someone else might have made the same criticisms before
Sounds to me like that means the criticisms are valid? What the fuck do you want, a neverending circlejerk?
I assume you're in every single thread on Yea Forums telling everyone to stop criticizing every game, right?
based, these threads are best when the only thing we talk about are the same regurgitated low-effort spergouts about how everyone who doesn't want to participate in your samefagging and shitposting is just afraid of your mighty critique
The red ones give you upgrades on heat bars and more heat abillities, while the blue ones give upgrades one existing or either new regular fighting moves, like the drop-kick. The M ones you have to learn from a trainer, those abillities will either be a new regular move, a heat action or just a buff.
What details? You can only adjust the distant LOD and shadow res which barely change anything. I still get 60fps on my preferred resolution with the full graphic quality, and those are damn good graphics. Sure the port could be better but it's also not an absolute blunder.
>ultra settings at 4k 60fps
Bullshit, unless you're talking about 0 or Kiwami.
I can't even get 60fps at 1440p Ultra. It just sits at 50.
The plot is really good but the gameplay is fucking boring. This game should unironically be a VN.
>fucking jaggies everywhere
absolutely disgusting
I forgot to force the AA this is an old pic.
The ingame AA settings don't do anything.
I won't deny I don't have much going on in life so it's nice to have something that will distract me as long as a yakuza game. western games usually don't have more than 8 hours in them and I'm not a fan of rpgs. yakuza is ideal for avoiding life for a while. I only wish they'd confirm the rereleases of every game. I will reply all of them happily.
It's been out in the west for years. Unless you mean a potential Kiwami 3, I suppose.
You might be able to if you use SpecialK
I highly doubt that malware will help much at all.
You're already using W10.
>everyone who doesn't agree with my deluded eternally seething self is the same person
get a trip so your worthless drivel can be easily filtered
>SpecialK
Speaking of which, I can run K2 at 60fps locked without that, but I HAD to use it for Nier Automatic or there was no war to reach 60fps at the same res with the same hardware for me, and that was years ago, and somehow no one complained back then.
You can miss achievements. Look at Dash's 100% guide on steam to know what you can miss.
wait is there a special K for kiwami 2?
link?
And that was for a PS3 tier game.
Fuck Nier
Anyone has a move list for K2?
Dragon engine is an improvement in every aspect except combat
>try Yakuza thinking it's the evolution of the sidescroller beat em up
>90% cutscenes with awful story, awful "acting"
>Cringe humor
>Mini games
>Fucking back tracking all around the place
>The actual "gameplay" is shallow and boring and enemies just stand around waiting to be beat up
>Loading screens to load a cutscene to load a loading screen to load a cutscene to a loading screen to start a 30 second fight followed by a cutscene
This series is fucking trash. I want my 2D sidescrollers back. Fuck this garbage.
Not like refining it isn't possible too. The jump from 6 to kiwami 2 was a nice improvement. Future games could easily outshine the old ones, we'll see.
>try Yakuza thinking it's the evolution of the sidescroller beat em up
The DMC thread is this way
damn...
quality post, quality criticism indeed
so much better than the usual circlejerk of people actually discussing the game
I unironically believe 100% that people are just memeing Yakuza into being a big deal because the PS4's piss poor library has so little else.
Nobody cared on the PS2
Nobody cared on the PS3
Now it's Yea Forumss favourite game ever despite no increase in quality
I can see the game's limited appeal in that it's a literal TV serial in video game form, but no way does it deserve the praise for being long winded talking marathons, with some fights that consist of little more than copy/paste enemies shuffling around, waiting for you to perform scripted cutscene moves on them.
Nah, he's just very autistic.
What time frame is the series? I know it starts in the 80s, but not the other ages it's set in.
The combat is fine in K2 at 60fps IMO. Nowhere near as clunky as at 30fps. Makes me excited to play 5 at 60fps.
Pointing him in the wrong direction is rude.
Here best i can do at the moment, Don't have time to make a webm, Will post my graphic settings too if you want
Guys if you see a post criticizing Yakuza remember to call it a shitpost and not discuss it
Absolutely, the jump from Kiwami 2 to Judge Eyes is even more dramatic.
Honestly can't wait for the Shin Yakuza reveal
>loading screens
kek @ this psshitter
>try Yakuza thinking it's the evolution of the sidescroller beat em up
It is. All your complaints are about things entirely unrelated to the gameplay except for that part about how the enemies stand around waiting to get beat up which is exactly like the enemies in sidescroler beat em ups.
Are you sure you're not retarded?
Also free roaming does not equal backtracking.
We were talking about Dragon Engine, you retarded fuck.
I kinda wish Yakuza games were harder. The only decent challenge I got in Y4 was on ex-hard with champion ring equipped. Enemies actually starts trying to kill you and not just standing there waiting for you to heat action them. The problem is you can't get champion rings until very end of the game.
Oh, and jailbreak part was really hard but increadible fun to plan. You actually need to manage your health and items to survive, really cool.
I know Yakuza was never about challenge and combat while satisfying can be kinda clunky, but I still wish it was more challenging. Anyone claiming these games are flawless and shouldn't be criticized or calling these criticisms "nitpicks" is deluding themselves.
>video card getting to that heat over Yakuza 0
I'm too tired for this shit, user
Really? I thought Kiwami was the hardest.
>the enemies standing around waiting to be beaten up instead of attacking is a GOOD thing because that's just like classic beatemups!
Are you serious? Not only is this a pathetic attempt to say that enemies not posing any threat whatsoever and being docile punchingbags is a GOOD thing, but it's also completely false to claim that 2D beat em ups had enemies that didn't attack you. Of course they did. Most of them were arcade games where they wanted the player to lose so they put more money in. Often people wouldn't make it to stage 3. You're kidding yourself.
It starts in the year 2005 actually. 0 is a prequel.
>but it still run fine
It could be worse, but it could be a whole lot better.
>Anyone claiming these games are flawless and shouldn't be criticized or calling these criticisms "nitpicks" is deluding themselves.
No one has ever done that though. There's a big difference between autistically shitposting your passive-aggressive filth in every single thread of the game that you hate so much and actual discussions.
>some of the best graphics this gen
Not even close.
I know, but as a series chronologically. Only played 0, but I would enjoy seeing how society change over the decades as technology become more normal
That's what happens when you fall for the 4K meme.
>but it's also completely false to claim that 2D beat em ups had enemies that didn't attack you.
Just as false as claiming that enemies don't attack in yakuza m8. Bosses and midbosses were the only actual threats that prevented people from getting to stage 3. You'd acknowledge this but it doesn't fit your argument.
>he calls this this an autistic shitpost
Are you here to discuss Yakuza or not or are you just trying to derail discussion? Fuck off, there's nothing wrong with my post.
It's one of these
He wasn't talking about that post genius.
60 fps at ultra as well don't forget
There's some lunatic convinced that anyone either complimenting or criticizing Yakuza is a baiting shitposter. Positive post? It's the shitposter. Negative post? It's the shitposter. Long post giving pros and cons and examples from each other the games? It's the shitposter. He's in every single thread jumping at shadows and posting over and over again while attacking everyone, it's lunacy
>getting this heated over literal nothing
No one called your post anything user, english might not be your strong suit but it doesn't excuse you getting off the rails that easily.
Perhaps you require a medicinal bath or a nice refreshing bottle of toughness emperor?
What side scrolling beat em ups are you thinking of which have enemies that don't attack you?
>reference card
Does the job and was the same price as a 1080 reference card
>AyyMD
>that GPU heat over a PS3 game
>ram isn't even running properly
>buying a Founder's Edition card
>EVER
>does the job
yeah of starting a house-fire
Just started Yakuza 0 as my first game. It's the perfect example of a 7/10, stopped just short of achieving greatness. I can say 100 good things about the game but also 100 bad things.
The mini-games are fun but not fun enough to keep doing. The side missions are mildly amusing but not very satisfying. Every time the plot makes you do something exciting the momentum gets killed by some boring shit like buying alcohol for homeless people. The cutscenes are great but bogged down by so much pointless unskippable shitty conversation that's a chore to sit through. The action gameplay is sort of fun but doesn't have any depth like a real action game like Devil May Cry, so fighting the same shitty fodder a thousand times and "press triangle for cool!" becomes a chore.
I really want to like this game but it's just a constant mix of fun and frustrating. There's so much content but the content is just average, there's less fun-per-hour compared to playing a short but polished game like DMC or Ace Combat.
Which ones are you thinking of where regular mooks pose a threat? Going around in circles like this is not very productive. Maybe just admit that your extreme hyperbole has no legs to stand on you know?
The Yakuza games are virtual vacations and nothing more. That's why 5 is my favorite.
PC parts aren't cheap in europe, Fag. I'Il make do with my lawnmower
>and was the same price as a 1080 reference card
yeah because they're both garbage
never buy a fucking reference card unless you're building a MicroATX Mini PC.
>Yakuza games are flawed
>Therefore you can't enjoy the series anymore
Explain the logic
>Europoor
It just keeps getting better.
Anyway, if and when you get K2 don't even TRY playing at 4K.
>can't name any
No I didn't think you could
>Yakuza games are flawed
stop shitposting any time
Right back at ya buddy. Thanks for playing.
What about 2K?
Do you actually want me to name side scrolling beat em ups where the enemies attack you? Are you actually saying that? I'll do it if you want, but I just want to be clear here.
I have a GTX1070 and get 60FPS at 1080p and 50-55 at 1440p. I think your RTX2070 should be able to get 60 at 2K.
Do you think Yakuza games would benefit from having more than two types of enemies? After 7 games I wouldn't mind seeing a third type of regular enemy, personally.
I just don't get the shitposters who come to Yakuza threads, point out the obvious flaws that everybody and their mothers are aware of and they expect you to suddenly drop the games or something, it's just tiresome
Someone said that if you put render scaling to 50% it gets rid of jaggles. Is this true?
Sweet, Hope it doesn't fry my gpu
Won't it look like N64 game at that point?
Holy shit the guns were super obnoxious, fun game though
I just beat 0 last night
Gave up on yakuza 0 after 13 hours, the fucking cutscenes just goes on and on.
Fuck sake, Well time for bed
I only played Kiwami and the original Yakuza on the PS2, gotta say, they are great fucking games. Cool story and really good gameplay (until you unlock tiger drop anyways)
And from the 112 hours I played kiwami probably 90 were spent roaming the city
2K shouldn't get it past 60..
4K is an unnecessary meme.
Technically 70s is normal for heavy load like 4K. You should be worried when it gets to the high 80s.
No I want you to name side scrolling beat em ups where regular enemies are considered anything but fodder which is impossible to do. Go ahead.

You are sick. It's not even funny.
>obvious flaws that everybody and their mothers are aware of
This
YES the combat is shit
YES it's mostly a VN
YES the writing is piss-poor
YES the enemies stand around waiting to be beaten up rather than posing a challenge
we KNOW. EVERYONE already knows and agrees. so take your nitpicks elsewhere.
This. The enemies in old 2D beatemups posed no threat to the player, just like in Yakuza. It's a good thing.
People complaining about the enemies just standing around waiting to be hit simply don't get it.
The audio/frame stuttering on Yakuza 0 was horrible to the point i stopped playing the game.
I never managed to get it fixed no matter what I did to the settings
I know SEGA is not having any E3 presentation but I hope they'll give some info about the remasters at least
Picked the series again from Yakuza Kiwami.
Did Majima exist in the original at all?
Should've started from 0.
But seriously all I remember from the original is that you play as Kiryu and you can pick up keys to unlock lockers.
Post all the nitpicks you want but at the end of the day it just feels good to beat up a load of guys with ease and then seduce women. It makes me feel cool, so who cares about all this plot analysis shit? So the writing and combat aren't great, who cares? It's cool as fuck.
>The side missions are mildly amusing but not very satisfying
I think this is a very important point that not a lot of people drop when it comes to yakuza games, in fact they tend to praise substories because lol wacky shit. They're short, inconsequential, built like little VN subplots with no real gameplay OR narrative value, they're pointless really.
The best ones can get a chuckle or two out of you, the worst ones feel like an absolute waste of time, poor quality of writing doesn't help either.
I love the mini-games though. Before playing Yakuza I never had a strong opinion on them, in fact I don't think I've ever thought of them at all, but now I feel like most games, ESPECIALLY the open world ones can benefit from having cool shit like the cabaret simulator or gambling.
Imagine entering a tavern in a game and not being able to play dice with a chunky sly looking dwarf or just watching a cutscene for your character fishing out a prize from the crane machine instead of actively participating in it.
I really hope Rockstar is making Bully 2, because unlike some of their later stuff Bully 1 had so much GAMEPLAY everywhere. It wasn't perfect, sure, but I'd perfect an imperfect game over a glorified movie any day of the week.
Use BES. Pretty much all of the problems disappeared after I used it.
Never ever reply to me again samefag. You are subhuman.
This must be like the second (you) you get itt that hasn't come from you. How does this fact feel?
>SEGA is not having any E3 presentation
Why do I keep hearing this? Nagoshi is a confirmed E3 attendant.
entire dojima family is hounding after your ass and you were trying to score bootycalls in the telephone club?
This.
The enemies in Yakuza stand around waiting to get beat up which is exactly like the enemies in sidescroler beat em ups.
Odd this never came up on any of my searches.
A denovo game spiking the shit out of a cpu? Who would ever have guessed..
I'm glad they put items in the game that make them more aggressive like the Chamption's Ring. I also like the shit that makes your defense absolute dogshit.
You're talking to a trashcan.
My bad, maybe I was thinking of the PC show
>The enemies in Yakuza stand around waiting to get beat up which is exactly like the enemies in sidescroler beat em ups.
Shut the fuck up retard
>The enemies in Yakuza stand around waiting to get beat up which is exactly like the enemies in sidescroler beat em ups.

You are not a person, you are a spambot, except you manually do all the work. Arguably the most pathetic person on the internet as a whole right now.
Was there a more kino moment in zero?
What's wrong with saying the enemies in Yakuza stand around waiting to get beat up which is exactly like the enemies in sidescroler beat em ups? Do you think that's not true?
Take your meds.
You are a complete idiot if you can't see what is happening in this thread.
Whole of Majima introduction scene
wtf are you talking about? enemies may not try attack you in yakuza games but they definitely attack you in old beat em ups
The guy you replied to may be the most autistic person here but you are definitely the most retarded. I'll leave you to enjoy each other.
name a single beat em up where enemies attack you
Holy shit... I can't!
I guess it's fair to say the enemies in Yakuza stand around waiting to get beat up which is exactly like the enemies in sidescroler beat em ups after all. It was correct from the beginning.
When it suddenly transitions to Majima and Reign starts to play.
I couldn't care less. I'm here to talk about the game.
I know this is just how we have to start Yakuza threads now but the gameplay is in the first 15 mins and i will never understand how someone can be so impatient and uninterested in a game that they cant sit through some really well done cutscenes
I think it must be ADHD or something
>>Loading screens to load a cutscene to load a loading screen to load a cutscene to a loading screen to start a 30 second fight followed by a cutscene
Buy a SSD poorfag
Its breddy gud
Not as good as Zero but i really like the new maps and movement. Being able to enter most buildings seamlessly, jump off ledges and vault over rails, and even walk up stairways to the rooftops, really cool shit. The level of detail is much greater than anything in GTA or similar games.
Not really liking the combat though. Enemies block mid combo all the time and it completely kills your combo. Some of the harder Colosseum fights are complete bullshit. Also the ragdoll is insane and kinda funny at first but it starts to become annoying after a while. I still think Zero had the best combat (although it was perhaps a bit too easy).
>jaggles
wtf is that
What the fuck is wrong with you? You think people should post in a thread once and never again?
Grow up you paranoid freak
jaggies
jaggles
I have no idea why the AA is so bad
I've tried everything even forcing FXAA in Nvidia and it still doesnt work
I'm also fairly sure many textures look low res compared to the PS4
This.

Thats pretty normal for any thread
Whats the issue here?
sadly true
>I forgot to screencap Koyuki's abababababababa
goddamit
shit yeah the game has a lot of those
I thought it was just my shitty pc
People are supposed to post once then close the thread instead of discuss the games with others
Majima's intro was pretty fucking kino and all of the beatdown levels were kino
But anything with Kuze was fantastic
I really hope they feature him in a spinoff game or something again
Was it autism?
So were those panties hers or her granny's? I threw them away when there was that choice where you could sniff them
I miss G.Jaggy
Yuki is still best girl but Koyuki is so adorable I love her
All the other pornstar hostesses are trash, their voice acting is so fucking bad
Yuki > 80s Yuki > Koyuki >AIKA > The Rest
the game has absolutely awful AA
Majima did exist in the original, but he felt a bit more like an antagonist than Kiryu's best bud like in Kiwami.
I kept them at the end... Because littering is bad, you know?
>not taking them with you
What are you gay?
Post some scenic screenshots.
Make this my wallpaper.
God damn, imagine if they remade 5 in this engine. Let alone a future engine.
>haven't progressed the story beyond a chapter in nearly a week, just had the family reunion with Kaoru atop the Millennium Tower
>don't give a fuck
>spend all my time doing cabaret club
It's fucking criminal how fun it is lads. I'd buy the fuck out of a cabaret club standalone game
I am new to the series as well, playing Kiwami.
It said that stronger enemies sometimes go into a regenerative stance and glow a color. Then you gotta use the heat gauge in a certain style to fuck them up. I keep trying but the prompt is never there, despite my gauge being full.
Yes
Majima was only ever a comic relief / antagonist for the first 2 games, in 3 he becomes way more yandere for Kiryu, and in 4 and onwards he basically drops the crazy act and goes back to normal.
It's been ages since I played Kiwami, but did you unlock the appropriate finisher yet? If you haven't it becomes a pain in the ass at the start, but I don't think it takes too long to unlock it.
Sega should release a full gamecabaret simulator, with more story, more clothes and hairstyles, more girls and more dating things. They could break the market with this, just imagine instead of 6, 24 porn stars in your cabaret for full costumization and dating.
You have to buy the skill
The game never tells you this.
Oh, didn't know I had to re-learn those.
I am fresh out of the slammer, so I know barely anything. Pretty fun though, I should try out the rest of the series after. Its got a campy eastern action movie vibe.
>Hah
>Huh
>Ugh
>Ha
>Aryan
Wtf Kiryu?
You need to unlock those kiwami finishers by leveing up.
Honestly Kiwami is a pretty sub-par Yakuza game. Its the only one in the series I couldnt even finish. The boss fights are infuriatingly broken trash (FUCK those gang twins at debolah), all the content is ripped straight from 5 and 0m with barely any new additions, all the cutscenes are literally reused from the ps2 just with new models, ect. That on top of the fact that Yakuza 1 is already a pretty meh game. But it was a pretty lazy remake.
Just letting you know in case you dont enjoy it, you're playing the least good one in the series. So it only gets much better from here.
If you enjoyed Kiwami 1, you'll definitely enjoy Kiwami 2 and later titles, bar Dead Souls which is kind of on the weak side and runs really poorly on PS3. You should only ever play that if you really love the series and want to see how the characters react in a zombie setting.
Why is Kiryu so fucking good at sweet talking Koyuki but he's still a virgin?
Those dates were pretty fucking lewd, Kiryu was making her wet as hell, how does this guy not slay pussy? He's easily the most chad Japanese man in the country but he's a 55 year old virgin raising his dead friendzoned gf's kid who also cucks him by banging a chink?
substories aren't canon
Substories aren't canon.
>Substories aren't canon
Dropped.
Virginity gives him his super-human powers
That doesnt answer my question
how big is kiwami and kiwami 2
im still in 0 about 47 hours chapter 11
and im having a blast
hearing about the new dragon engine I wish they had stayed with the one in zero for the new games
> Not really liking the combat though.
Still, Its more realistic. Gangs trying to attack with much cold weapons or even firearms. There are cool abilities to disarm goons. I can't imagine a groop of attackers with only bare knuckles.
In other hand Zero was overwhelming with firearms. Why do I need different attack styles, while I have 16 soap shotguns?
>punching a guy and watching him fly 50ft into the air is realistic
lol
Reminder she's female Daigo and that's Yayoi's panty
Once the 3-4-5 remasters drop in the west you'll be able to enjoy the old engine some more
Kiwami is about 25-30 hrs
Kiwami 2 is about 50-60
Zero is one of the longest games in the series
I had 100 hours in my first playthrough
Easy
Well Kiryu hit's like a truck? Them surviving that shit is the real problem here.
0 took me 66 hours but Kiwami took me about 30 hours, I think. Haven't finished Kiwami 2.
> Why is Haruka so tall?
Shitty PC mods.
Haruka will be OK in Yakuza 5. Yes. it'll be possible to kick some asses Haruka style.
Kiwami 1 is far shorter than 0. Kiwami 2 is longer, considering Yakuza 2 was longer over the original, though it's missing some content from the PS2 version. Thankfully it at least introduces its own content, even if some of it just comes from Yakuza 6.
Majima is taller than Kiryu tho
Good fight but he was kind of a shitty antagonist, barely had any screen time
Kuze was a much better villain
Heck even the hitman was better and he had even less screen time
Kiwami 2 is literally tokyo the game, pure kino.
>t. been to tokyo last year.
Yeah he wasn’t a great villain but that whole fight was kino, especially with the elder god tier two dragons playing during the fight
> am i the only one who like Kuze's voice?
He's perfectly made. I hate him from the bottom of my heart. Yep, voice acting a bad dude is also an art.
There's more map in Kiwami 2 than Zero and K1?
I've held off on playing K2 because the same little map gets tiring.
Okay lads
Give me her best codes
It makes it even better that his VA somehow looks more intimidating than he does in game, he played his part perfectly
For all intents and purposes, Kamurocho is a main stay of the series and its spinoffs, like Judgement. Kiwami 2 uses Sotenbori from 0 (considering Yakuza 2 introduced it in the first place), but it does change areas up slightly.
If you want more games that aren't set in Kamurocho, there's Yakuza 3 which has Sunflower Orphanage and the Okinawa district, Yakuza 5 which has the most districts out of any Yakuza game to date with you only returning to Kamurocho by the end of the game, and Yakuza 6 which introduces Onomichi.
I thought in the original 2 there was a smaller third area you went to
They are profesional actors not voice actors, Kuze one has that raspy voice for real.
60 hours, only Kiriyu story, trying to fulfil all sideplays. chapter 15
I would rather watch 5 hours cutscene than do any of that "openworld" gameplay.
for the love of god that shit is a crime against humanity.
>to progress now you have to find this guy in a random location
>next you have to get these 5 guys each an item from a different shop
>haha random encounter like pokemon but with always same three types of enemies .
fuck this shit. I think that this game (idk about the rest of the series) is a textbox of what not to do in a fucking openworld.
The combat system and story are both great but no way i wasting my time on this shitty progression system .
Yeah, I forgot to bring that up. Yakuza 2 had a cutscene on a boat that was just replaced by some building in Kiwami 2, and the entire third district was cut out for no reason outside of the devs probably not having a version of 5/0 to base it on.
Oh man, I'm not into the whole gyaru degeneracy but I have to admit she's not nearly as ugly as her Kiwami 2 model.
You can kind of fix her with shades and other stuff, but the game insist on showing her default self in the cutscenes regardless. It's a shame because the same can be said about most JAV girls in this series.
Oh good to know. The most I knew kuze’s actor did was a part in the yakuza movie
Do you mean the Hobo Park?
Dead Souls is unironically the best Yakuza game. Prove me wrong. You can`t.
it's basically just one street for one mission and even though it's a shame it's gone it unironically would have been a waste of time if they had spent the time making it in high quality on a spinoff (remake) game
Why is the cat driving a car anyway? This makes me wanna play the taxi driving in Y5
He means Shinsekai
yeah I remember it being really fucking small just wanted to confirm my memory being correct
Are we talking Yakuza here or any Trails game?
You can beat the game no damage, but the fact that it’s possible is more a happy accident than anything else.
Basically, the combat is as hard as you want it to be.
he's in so many yakuza movies, he's known for that
youtube.com
>people warned me about "Yakuza fatigue" if I played 0 and 1 back to back
>play 0 1 and now 2 within a spam of 2 or 3 months and am still hankering for more
>try to see if rpcs3 can get Y3 running but it runs like shit
>my ps3 is about as dead as dead hardware can be
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa please just give me moer
Zero only takes 15 hours if you do NOTHING but the story.
I really wish they hadnt fucked up the ending of Zero
Theres a couple of major plot holes that bug me and its the only thing stopping it from being the perfect game
Spoilers ahead if you havent played Zero
First of all, the whole game was going on with this theme of black suit white suit and the morality of taking a life. Kiryu starts off wearing black but dons a white suit when he becomes a civilian because he's good now, whereas Majima wears black.. you get the picture. Obvious symbolism. The point is I was fully expecting Majima to kill at the end and that was going to be the big difference between Majima and Kiryu. Kiryu was stopped from killing Shibusawa by Nishiki and that saved him from becoming a "true Yakuza". Whereas Majima needed to get back to the Yakuza, so I thought he was going to kill and that was going to be the catalyst for his insanity. But the stupid developers didnt want to have a playable character actually kill anybody so the symbolism ended up being completely meaningless. This also made the next scene very confusing when Sera got done with his big speech about how killing is wrong he hands Majima a gun and tells him to take care of Shimano? What? How am I supposed to suspend my disbelief when I KNOW that he wont kill Shimano, or anybody, because the plot just showed me that Majima cannot kill. They also didnt resolve the main plot, which is Kiryu being pursued by the police for murder. Sera didnt turn in the Hitman or Dojima for the murder and he says he's keeping the Hitman to blackmail Dojima who can rat on him any time about the murder. But that leaves Kiryu, who's still wanted.. Pretty major hole. Then you have the whole thing about Kiryu wanting to rejoin the Dojima family for the events of Yakuza 1, but this is blatantly retarded after the events of 0 and even the writers realised this because they had Nishiki express it by pointing out how stupid it sounded.
All of this could have been solved very easily.
(1/2)
They remastered (not remade, like the Kiwamis) 4, 5, & 6 in Japan, so he's probably referencing that.
Is the yakuza movie any good?
Huh. The more you know. Thanks user
First: Majima should have killed the hitman. This is the turning point that the whole game built up to. This explains why he couldnt get with Makoto as well, because he's passed the point of no return. Sagawa's warning all of a sudden comes full circle. This also makes the scene where Sera asks him to cap Shimano make sense (even though we know Shimano lives for 1 it still makes that scene more believable).
Second: Have Dojima go to jail for the murder in the lot. He's a powerful Yakuza, it could be easily explained that he got out of prison by the events of 1. This would also explain why Kazama gained control of the Dojima family and why Dojima himself basically retired by the time 1 takes place. Because he was in jail, and all the Lieutenants are in jail, the Kazama family would natually take over. This also neatly sums up Kiryu's decision to join the Dojima family. It would make sense and you wouldnt nees to have Nishiki question it, because now the Kazama family is running the show its not controversial for Kiryu to rejoin the family.
Just two pretty small and simple changes would have made the ending airtight.

Think there’s gonna be any yakuza announcements at E3 bros?
The producer looking like one big Yakuza motherfucker gets me every time.
Its interesting to say the least. They bit off far more than they could chew.
You just need to be patient user, 3-4-5 in the west soon and PC versions to follow not long after
man you know how sony does the weird shit like the flute man, what if they just did a staged fight where a kiryu look-alike started beating the shit out of some actors, maybe some heat moves
It's pretty poorly made. Just go read the special K faggot posts on the steam forums. Hate him all you want but he knows what's going on.
> I'm hoping when they fix the memory management that brings with it lower GPU overhead, though I'm not holding my breath as I have done extensive profiling using my custom tools and there's a single Compute Shader used for lighting that consumes 8 ms of GPU time per-frame. It's possible that splitting the shader into multiple passes could help, but I don't see that kind of optimization work going into a product that's already shipped. Best we can probably hope for is a cure for the engine's fatal memory eating disorder.
>the AA does nothing
I think this is the reason why:
> Various buffers required to light the scene are only running at 1/4 resolution currently, and are the reason for the unbelievably obnoxious specular aliasing from hell. I aim to fix this without the performance penalty of Supersampling, but need QLOC to stop deleting memory randomly or I have no idea how that's going to work.
he gets pussy constantly in 0
Why would they have a PC series on the Sony stage?
Hard to believe he originally worked on Super Monkey Ball and looked like this
After Judgement we'll probably get 3-5 remasters. Beyond that we'll have to see what RGG studios has in store, maybe Binary Domain 2?
>E3
>Sony
Anons...
>kiryu never killed
>mows down mooks with a gun
>The PC port is shit and has issues but it still run fine
I'm sure it's not just the PC port. The dragon engine runs like absolute trash on the PS4 too. Those sweet 900p pixels still aren't enough to get stable 30fps. Y6 was a travesty.
You’re ignoring two things:
1. Lao Gui is the kind of cold unthinking hitman that Sagawa was trying to shape him into, so he’s actually a kind of “what if” scenario for Majima if he actually decided to kill Makoto. By not killing Lao Gui, Majima proves he’s better than him. It’s even implied that Lao Gui goes into the hole where Majima once was, driving home this symbolism further.
2. Shibusawa also wears black. He differs from Kiryu in that he decided to accept the bureaucracy of the yakuza and rise through the ranks conventionally, whereas Kiryu left on account of his morals and only returned to set things right.

Hitoshi Ozawa was Kuze and he did mostly direct to dvd yakuza movies and tv shows
>imdb.com
Riki Takeuchi was Amano but he's more well known for Dead or Alive trilogy or Battle Royale 2.
>imdb.com
Also maybe people will know Hitoshi Ozawa more for being the guy slapped by a monkey in a Downtown Gaki no Tsukai Batsu game
youtu.be
>Yakuza fatigue
That really depends on HOW you play through these games.
Blowing through the game is one thing and getting Amon, grinding out the coliseum, doing all the bouncer missions etc. is completely different.
You autisticlaly reading into things that aren't there isn't plot holes. Literally the only actual issue is what you mentioned about Kiryu wanting to rejoin the Dojima family.
But I addressed that.
Its not implied its explicitly stated by Sera and it creates a huge plot hole.
>2. Shibusawa also wears black. He differs from Kiryu in that he decided to accept the bureaucracy of the yakuza and rise through the ranks conventionally, whereas Kiryu left on account of his morals and only returned to set things right.
Again I kinda did address that, the black/white symbolism is pretty obvious they basically spell it out for the player in the ending where Kiryu puts on his famous grey suit and he says "I'm not feeling black or white, this is where I'm at right now."
Just show me Shin. I couldn't care less about Judgement.
This is quite literally the most movieest movie game there is, but it's fine, OP, it's japanese, it's okay when they do it. But god forbid when characters in western game talk to eachother, pure garbage, where am I? In the cinema? Hahahaha, am I right fellow virgin weebs?
I will never forgive Sega for ruining the coolest scene in Yakuza 4
Sleep tight Kuze no aniki
How is not resolving the main plot not a plot hole? Kiryu is still a wanted man by the end of the game
I think Dojima shaking with rage silently at the meeting while he is forced to suck Sera's dick already gets across the idea that Dojima has essentially been ousted
See it by yourself

Better quality but in portuguese
youtube.com
Answer: Only Majima parts and the ones from the game, which is like 20% of the movie only
This, and give us 3/4/5 remasters already.
Thats not the problem though
Kiryu being a fugitive and wanting to join the Dojima family again for some reason he pulled out of his ass is an issue
By having Dojima go to prison, and having the Kazama family take over, Kiryu rejoining makes sense, and he also isnt wanted by the police anymore. Dojima could get out early on good behavior and retire to his office in the theatre square for the events of 1 to take place.
It's fun, but a poor movie when looking at it objectively.
Oh, that explains the Super Monkey Ball monkeys on the hook game at Sega Center, besides being Sega characters tho.
>eyepatch on the wrong eye
How did they manage to fuck that up
>30 hours player
>All I did was the intro cutscene
>Go chase down some gangster guy or something
>Disregard and go to mahjong parlour instead

How is it in any way similar to Goodfellas?
Just finished Kiwami 2. Dafuq was the deal with Osaka Castle?
AAAABBREEBADY SAAAYY RROUGGE OBBBB RABBBBBBB
did they announce 345 in the west
I can go out and buy them here but I don't know enough nipponese to follow it
I want to play Ishin and Kenzan but I am really reluctant to play them because even with the guide and menu translations it is hard to know what is going on and if I am missing anything
They haven’t been confirmed to come over here but they definitely will be at some point, maybe the end of the year
That was about the weirdest thing that happens in the story, for the few games I have played. I can't really take it seriously, plus you fucking fist fight tigers.
>actually go out of my way to make a comeback in that Mahjong side story
>find out you were supposed to just pick up the peerless tile and dunk on everyone that way
At least I got a good amount of Mahjong practice in.
>The combat system and story are both great
Not really
sounds like a perfect adaption of the games
You fight a massive bear in 5 so it gets weirder
And it's even two at the same time.
I did that substory When I got my second peerless tile after all Kung Fu Master missions
Don't you fight a demon bear in the coliseum in 0 or Kiwami 1?
I LOVE YUKI
A lot of people tell me Kiwami 2's ost was subpar but I liked a good amount of tracks.
youtube.com
Can we all agree that it's a good thing that the enemies in Yakuza games don't really pose a threat and wait to be hit because it makes the games feel more like sidescrolling beat em ups?

>mfw this whole sequence with Ryuji yelling out obscenities, the camera cutting to Jin getting dragged into the elevator then you fighting through the Go-Ryu clan all while the sickest music is playing in the background
this game's alright
it's ok when japan does it
The only reason this one is not so great to me, is because it plays every fight, so you hear it for like 15 seconds while you shove all the enemies' shit in.
after that fight some red tiger keeps showing up in the tournaments that lights me on fire, as if they weren't already annoying to fight
Yes, it reminds me of all the classics
I did all the coliseum stuff as soon as I could. I tend to max things out as best I can, ass soon as they are fully available.
Sounds like that is fucking cancer.
He does have an argument though, 4k is a fucking meme, no point going over 1444p
>red tiger
I've actually only ever encountered a white one that hits you with electricity. Guess there really is more than one
yes
How do you force AA? How big is the performance hit?
Legit question.
Graphics card settings, the same impact as basic AA in any game really
You would have to be a retard to say anything other than yes, of course
unless there's a side scrolling beatemup game where enemies attack you, yes
Looks better in her 40s than when she was in her 20s
I want to _____ Majima.
SMASH
How can a game be so good?
if you do the battle royale ones where its 8 fighters at once you can get two beasts with grey healthbars in a match, it fucking sucks
I honestly found the money grinding a pain in the ass in 0 and my most disliked part of the game. Even doing cheese tactics with shadkedown sucks and is boring as hell.
I've 100% all three Yakuza games on PC, i can't fucking wait for 3-4-5-6-judgement-kenzen-ishin-deadsouls-whateverelseiforgottoadd
did you miss the conversation Kiryu had with Nishkiyama at the end of the game?
The fick are you on it came out for the ps3. If we didnt buy that you all wouldnt even have these western kiwami games. Boomer out.
nah, the tigers are easy compared to facing the Amons.
is drinking canned beer on rooftops like hobos the jap idea of dating?
You want to do it in the park near actual hobos?
>Didn't even give her a bouquet of roses
>Didn't even her sing a song
>Wasn't even wearing his best fedora
Yeah, what a boring date *tips*
Agreed. Yakuza 2's writing is supremely overrated.
just pop kiwami heat mode and wail on 'em, then go behind cover so you don't get sprayy'd by the gun amon
I got 4 gray health bar guys in one 5 star match yesterday. I'm almost completely maxed out (300) in stats though so it wasn't
even a biggie.
I'm only in chapter 8 so I feel way too overpowered and like I've ruined the game for myself because i can tank any kind of hits from bosses all day. Are there items to make me take more damage?
>Is this a movie? When do I get to play?
oh boy, you're in for a surprise
yakuza is a dogshit series. i hope you pirated it.
>nice washed out visuals
literally never seen these words used in this combination. holy shit.
I know theres an item that removes heat, think its the sunflower orphanage charm
Haruka becomig a THOT is one of the biggest redpills in video game history, change my mind.
If a game isn't out on PC, then it isn't out.
you memewar faggots are so tiresome
the biggest yakuza redpill is that
>FUCK THE CHINESE
they ruin everything, they tortured Kiryu, and turn Haruka into a whore
Yakuza 3 on RPCS3 is still awful. i have to wonder wtf they're doing over there. I've been checking RPCS3 about every 2 months for the past 4 years and it's been so fucking slow. it's like the will got sucked out of the project.
>why are we doing this, it had no games
I'm sort of new to this kind of thing. Why do people hand out paper tissues for free?
It's advertising. The tissue pack will have an ad on it.
Japanese people are constantly masturbating everywhere. if you ever go to japan, just be aware of this. hundreds of people are just outside whacking it. it's so frequent it spawned the 'pee comes from the balls' meme.
as the other user said its advertising, but also public toilets don't have toilet roll, you're expected to have your own tissues
what? I'm running it at 60 fps on High with a shitty 380x radeon, a harddrive that can barely even function anymore and a shitty i5
Christ ponytail Majima is hot
>just finished fapping to some JAV
>see this
fucking retards stop making me fap
>public toilets don't have toilet roll, you're expected to have your own tissues
Imagine constantly having to remember bring ing tissues with you wherever you go just in case you have to take an emergency dump.
anyone is getting a glitch where if you do a second charged light attack Kiryu gets stuck charging? i been getting it and idk what triggers it
Fuck he’s in bros
That's what I thought. I wouldn't be bothered with them since I never leave my room without tissues anyway. Thanks for the info.
Physics are fun.
With the right company doing anything can be considered a good date
Why does Yea Forums call God of War (GOTY 2018) a movie while Yakuza gets a free pass?
You can stop posting, 10 times was enough
Your favorite combat style Yea Forums?
Not an argument. Enjoy your cinematic experience I guess.
That was my first post ITT btw
God of War had a ONE HOUR LONG intro with no gameplay. Would a Yakuza game do that?
Because even though theres fucking half a days worth of them in every game, they still only make up for like 10% of the playtime in them?
It's like you get a tv series, a brawler, a singleplayer mmo and a minigame collection at once and I'm pretty fond of that combination
This is completely false. Meanwhile in Moviekuza it's a literal 2 hour cutscene intro LMAO
>YK2
>a castle hiding another castle inside
>samurai and ninjas
>a fucking Gatling gun Kiryu uses to (not) mow down people
fucking sengoku man
thug > beast > dragon > brawler > slugger > mad dog > rush > breaker
'ate mashing
'ate weak ass hits with no impact
love grapples
love counters
love heat actions
simple as
But breaker is the most broken shit in the whole of Zero.
Yes, Yakuza 6 did literally that. God of War didn't.
Well, yeah. That kinda answers you question, doesn't it?
It's broken and really is just not fun to use at all once the novelty of muh eddy gordo in a beat em up game wears off.
It has more utility than just being a card. Plus, you see whatever they are advertising every time you go for a tissue. I grab some when I am running low, so I always have some in my backpack.
A lot of public toilets have no paper tissues for drying your hands, and you can use them in restaurants instead of using the ones provided.
Why are tissues in restaurants a thing here in Asia? They did it in Hong Kong too.
The reason Kenzan runs so well is because the translation patch guys know them and helped them find some new members. It's basically an advertisement for the emulator. The other Yakuza games only run because of the work on Kenzan pretty much, they've had some minor fixes here and there but it's not their priority.
>The speed that that guy flies into the railing.
That's way faster than on PS4, that looks really odd.
You just have to accept the yakuza games take fucking forever to actually start. It's a huge turn off for some people which is understandable. Personally I find once you actually get into the story the cutscene are actually pretty good.
Still not as bad as Rockstar’s games
you also (at some point) get to do whatever it is you want around town, which has some pretty substantial side shit. It would probably get panned if it were a linear game with just the main story.
Don't forget Shinseicho in the original 2 (Even if it's just a small area), 4 introduces the rooftops/underground areas including the sewers so it gives some variety to Kamurocho even if it's nothing too major which mixes things up, and then you have Kenzan with tons of small connecting areas + Gion + The Suburbs, and Ishin with Tosa (Which you can only explore at the start of the game) + Kyoto + Mibu + Mukurogai + Gion (But a really crappy version of Gion that's more Suburbs than Gion).
Playing Kiwami 2 for the first time on PC, I hated how literally everything devolved into HAH, I'M ACTUALLY KOREAN TOO! and "HAH, I BACKSTABBED YOU!" "NO, I ACTUALLY BACKSTABBED -YOU-!"
Like damn, relax on the keikaku
oh my god this shit looks comfy as fuck
Every time I see a thread, I ask how to get in to Ishin, and I always feel like a dick for asking.
>Like damn, relax on the keikaku
3 onward are more like this. 4's keikaku is hilariously involved with tons of twists dropping every couple of minutes near the end of the game and so is BP2's. BP2's keikaku is so involved it took more than 20 years and literal magic to enact.
Kenzan and Ishin have some very comfy areas. I love Gion the most in Kenzan but it's so hard to get any decent pictures of that place.

The PDF can also be resorted to but I wouldn't recommend that, it's annoying to use and the individual pages are much easier to refer to in my opinion. But if you have limited electricity it's probably better safe than sorry.
>you can't do screens until after you beat the story, yes?
You can only do them in the arena until you beat the game and enter Premium Adventure. The arena allows it because it has a gimmick where if you stream your game and someone watches it and comments during the stream you get buffs, some health returned, or items due to their comments. Y0 also didn't allow screenshots originally until you beat the game and went into Premium Adventure, being able to freely take screenshots is a western thing. Same deal with FotNS, we got Sharing unlocked right from the start but Japan only got it in the patch that added Canon difficulty which happened 2 months after release.
>And you get that outfit from it?
You get that outfit, you get the ability to just wear your street clothes like in Tosa and the first two or three chapters (So basically just the grey coat without the Shinsengumi one), you get this golden yellow outfit if I remember right, and you get this black outfit with flames on it on top of the regular Shinsengumi outfit.
Thanks for all the help. I will probably just wait until next year and then play it. All I had was the PDF, and navigating it was a chore, especially since I only had my phone when I tried last time.

Literally impossible.
Seriously now, the combat in this game seems inconsistent. Sometimes it lets you block/dodge after you get hit, and sometimes you're stunlocked for the entirety of the enemy combo. And enemies (or the bosses at least) seem to sometimes get superarmor out the ass and just hit you throw your combo.
I don't get it. Yet.
Kuze is pretty fair, he punish mashing hard
But that's how you fight in this game. You need to mash to combo, and if you stop, it will break the combo chain, and you won't be able to do the finisher.
Although realizing the Rush style has regular finishers too, not just the heat action finishers on stunned enemies, helped a lot. You can just expect the enemy to guard after a few hits, then preemptively queue the finisher move, and it breaks the enemy guard just in time.
Except when it doesn't work. Sometimes the opponent just blinks white and powers through the finisher and still hits you.
I've also noticed that I seemed to be able to block Kuze's kick finisher, but the first two punches kept me stunlocked. I've no idea why sometimes it lets you get out of the combo, and sometimes it doesn't.
Kuze's about Rush more than Brawler and he punishes not picking the right moment to attack.
>and sometimes you're stunlocked for the entirety of the enemy combo
This usually happens in multi-hit attacks. When an enemy does attacks that are spaced apart it gives you just enough time to get out of it whereas attacks that have multiple hits in relatively quick succession will keep you in them. So things like quick punches, longer combos, etc will keep you in them while slower punches or kicks will let you get out of them. Unless they hit you with a 2H weapon, then you getting stunned is normal but this is more in the newer engine than in the one 0's based on.
>And enemies (or the bosses at least) seem to sometimes get superarmor out the ass and just hit you throw your combo.
Bosses gain some super armor but not always. Shakedown is the only real boss with super armor in 0 outside of Amon that's on almost 24/7, and Shibusawa and Lao Gui have it but only on certain attacks, I seem to recall Awano also did for a bit. When it comes to games prior to the Dragon Engine (Meaning 0 and K1 as a a quick example) you want to be trying to reach an enemy's back if they guard a lot. The back is always a way to get a full combo off, the enemies just sometimes recover fast enough to spin around. When you attack someone from the front they will usually gain super armor after X amount of attacks, but if you go to games prior to 0 they basically just guard infinitely or get a guard break instead.
are you mashing right in his face like a tard?
these games punish you for that shit, so you need to get behind them.
use your quicksteps and any other moves at your disposal.
>But that's how you fight in this game
You're in no position to drop this kind of rhetoric considering you're having issues with Kuze
I try to hit in the back, but sometimes, especially during the third phase, it doesn't let me do a full combo, and instead the boss would just instantly turn around and auto-guard.
And sometimes even if you dodge behind them, they still hit you even though you're behind their back, because the hitboxes on their attacks are just too wide. And if you're too far away after you dodge around them, then your hits might not connect.
Are you saying you can do the combo finisher without doing a combo first?
Or that combo doesn't break after you stop attacking?
What.
You can win all the fight with just mashing buttons.
That's why the brawler style even exist.
only if you're playing on easy or some shit.
the majority of the bosses punish you if you continue to mash right in their face.
>and instead the boss would just instantly turn around and auto-guard.
That's when you back off and repeat the process of getting to his back again. You can also throw in a grab because grabs work on the basis of "If you hit an enemy once or twice they won't throw you away immediately" which also allows you to throw him to the ground and start wailing on him there as well. Yes, he will do that, but there's ways around it.
I played in normal.
The only time they punish you is when they have some sort of super armor during the combo.
Most of the time you interrupt them.
I got yakuza 6 song of life. I haven't ever played a Yakuza. Should i try this or where should i start?
>normal
you mean the other easy mode?
play that claw game for me daddy
0 is a good start point. So is Kiwami 1.
If you like old games, you can emulate 1.
People who say otherwise are proabbly messing with you.
don't start with 6.
it's the end of kiryu's saga, so it's pretty much the worst place to start.
Start with either 0 or Kiwami 1
0 is amazing, Kiwami is pretty shitty but still enjoyable. Basically decide what's more important to you, immediately getting to the best parts or edging through a much worse game so that when you finally nut it feels amazing.
Don't start with 6, it's like starting to play Kingdom Hearts with 3. Start with either 0 or the original 1, Kiwami 1 may be a remake but it has several things expecting you to have played 0, it constantly references it, and it was made for people who started with 0 in the first place.
can anyone hook a nigga up with the kiwami 2 PC soundfiles?
don't want to have to buy the game again just for this shit.
Thanks guys. I guess i am either getting 0 or emulating 1.
I just want a fun beta em up and Yakuza looks like it. I don't think i am going to be too interested in the story to be honest.
>I don't think i am going to be too interested in the story to be honest.
that's fine, since the story isn't the reason that yakuza gained a cult following.
I was really good at the claw games in 0 and 1, but Kiwami 2's just destroying my wallet. I guess not being able to see directly from the side really killed my accuracy
You could always emulate 1, see if you like what it has going for the gameplay in general, and then see where you want to go from there. 1 sold me from the moment I picked up a bike and slammed it into a group of people. Keep in mind 1 is the only game where it's only an English dub (and it's a hilarious one) so just brace yourself for that. Just remember the games improve on the mechanics and 0 itself is like 9 (or 11 depending on your way of looking at it) games of development and iterations on the system so it'll play quite differently to 1 on the PS2.
I see you still havent read the post
That gook bitch whole face is plastic surgery
and yet you put beast at the top
this the lack of depth perception makes it so fucking hard
Movie games are ok, as long Japan does it.
Hello newfriend
Rush is so fucking handy.
That said, when it's fully upgraded, it actually feels worse than early on. The change of timing due to the charge attack fucks up the timing of the last kick badly and makes it so hard to really connect it reliably.
Beast and Breaker are also really fun, but Beast is really braindead and when you max it out, it's just fucking broken.
Thug
Just the best in all respects
the cutscenes are basically a movie separate from the game, if you dont dig it then dont play. many people love it including me
True, beast is pretty dumb at times but I tend to use it as a command grab tool not as a pick up a bicycle to win mechanism.
