Have sex

I think the program is a pain to use

Valve is private, not public, you ding dong.

I hate the Chinese.

steamcels seething

How, god damn it, how!?

>own stock in valve
>its a privately traded company.

OP can't even meme right.

Based

>privately held companies don't have stockholders

imagine being this retarded

Nor are there literally any reasons to use it or care about it when Steam exists.

Epic doesn't have regional pricing. Fuck them.

Rampat reddit fanatism for the fat fuck

I had an Epic account just to download the Unreal Engine for dicking around with making vidya, and once Fortnite took off I was getting hourly spam that someone was trying to hack into my account. The security on the EGS is trash and Fortnite draws in the worst types of people to the platform.

I hate the Chinese

you must really hate steam then

Do you think valve has no connection to china goverment? How fucking stupid can you be lol

Funk Chinks.

I use Linux exclusively

They might still have stock/shares, just not publicly traded ones.
Startups do it all the time, sell shares to venture capitalist investors when fundraising.

Literally not. You have to go public.

Valve never did it.

I hate them because their meme share killed GOG's Fair Price Package.

Owned.

Moving your product to china for their market isn't the same as being an American company being bought out and exploited by a chinese megacorporation.

Otherwise he's just a greedy fat jew

They give me a bad vibe thats all I can say about epic.

privately held companies have stock you fucking retard. you just can't purchase them on the secondary market because they're not publicly traded. i have stock in the privately held engineering firm i work at.

fucking underage fucks

Its more to do with how you need the storefronts downloaded and opened in order to have access to your full library. My library being split in that way really bothers me. It would be like if I could only play my physical console games in the stores I purchased them in, would be inconvenient but I could live with it if I bought everything from one store, but if I wanted to play something I bought at another store I suddenly have an inconvenience.
I would have no problem buying from either store if there was some sort of free "library" software that stored whatever copy protection information or what have you from Steam and Epic and allowed me to play any of my PC games from a single portal.

I just hope its a seperate service

because I hate dealing with chinks in vidya

i dont want to split my library up on two stores

>users are the same as companies owning 40% of the company

Nice. Can I just like them both?

i like having a shopping cart

Does Epic Games Store have a customer review system?

Does Epic Games Store have a shopping cart?

Does Epic Games Store still ban users who buy too many games in a short time?

Does Epic Games Store still fuck over publishers by denying them any say in sales they run?

I do not hate them. Won't touch their shite with a ten foot long pole, though, same as I won't touch Origin.
You should ALWAYS prefer to have a simple, basic, physical copy of the game that you can run independently, anything else is a compromise. Steam basically bribed me with a free copy of Portal when I finally bothered to make an account and they were doing a giveaway, and I have since then bought a number of games on sale from them. GOG did the same with some other giveaway, plus due to my physical copies of the witcher games, I have them online as well through them. That's a simple, positive offer/incentive that I can respond to as a customer, ultimately to the company's profit. All I've seen so far from Epic is trying to restric my options of where I'm buying the games I am interested in.

>Does Epic Games Store have a customer review system?

That's really irrelevant since there are tons of video game review sites and youtube reviews. Do you really need to know xXx420Killa69xXx's personal opinion on a game?

>Does Epic Games Store have a shopping cart?

Ya, that's weird. But just buy them one by one. It takes a few extra seconds. No big deal.

>Does Epic Games Store still ban users who buy too many games in a short time?

I bought 4 games in a row during the sale and didn't get banned.

>Does Epic Games Store still fuck over publishers by denying them any say in sales they run?

Publishers aren't getting fucked over. We're taking the hit on the sale while the publisher gets the full price they would have gotten for the game if it wasn't on sale

>Does Epic Games Store still fuck over publishers by denying them any say in sales they run?
Acting like it's a bad thing,retard

Most people hate it because of the way theyre trying to break into the business.

>Potential Spyware
>Garbage interface/Bought Exclusivity
- This is one of the big sticking points. Developers arent choosing to only go to the Epic Store. That would be ridiculous because they'd be losing out to the money they could make from steam. Epic pays them not to put their game on any other platform in hopes that it makes up for lost sales.

Why does this suck? Because their store also sucks ass. As others have mentioned. It's more barebones than a fucking geocities site made from a 13 year old in the 90s.

Epic isn't breaking into the scene as an alternative to Steam, its just paying people to use a garbage system through forced exclusivity. If Epic wanted to curb stomp steam all they would have to do is make a BETTER platform than Steam. Let the developers decide themselves if they want to be exclusive to a platform or not without the bribery to force people into a shit tier store

>chinks can't meme and can only make bootlegs of memes
Heh.

>Epic takes 18% good for the devs
>Epic has sale and devs don't have a say, fuck the devs

>ZERO steam shilling threads, since everyone uses Steam out of convenience and think of it as a games launcher, and not an object of idolatry
>Epic Games threads created at least once per day trying to call out "steam fanboy" strawmen on stuff literally no one gives a shit about
If you're not being enslaved in a Chinese prison to shill this Tencent platform daily here you should consider suicide, no one cares.

>Do you really need to know xXx420Killa69xXx's personal opinion on a game?
The fucking state of you strawmaning faggots.
Steam reviews are great because they let you view the opinions of players of the game. They could be from long time fans of the game who have 30,000 hours in the game or stupid memers who's opinions you shouldn't pay attention to in the first place.

>That's really irrelevant
Ah, the age old rebuttal of a fair point by calling it irrelevant. If I want to play a game, i want to know if it is a good game worth playing. One meme response wont alter the overall score, dumbfuck
>Ya, that's weird. But just buy them one by one. It takes a few extra seconds. No big deal
Except the ones who did buy five games one by one got locked out of their accounts on suspicion of fraud. What's your answer now?
>I bought 4 games in a row during the sale and didn't get banned.
see above
>Publishers aren't getting fucked over.
>Product permanently devalued because it went on sale before it even released
>Not hurting the publisher
>Delisted games need to be manually added in after the sale
>Not hurting the publisher
>Sale ends after the E3, delisted games missing out on hype season

Yeah sure. Whatever you say. Fuck steam and all that malarkey

It's called the archives. Read them.

All I see there is

On a tweet from January. Once again, fuck those chinks.
Paying almost a third of the minimum wage of my country on a videogame is out of the question.

>epic supports publishers,bad
>epic supports consumers,bad
Wow, it's like people just don't want anyone to compete with steam. No steam no buy retards are with us since like 2011, just a friendly reminder

Yeah imagine being retarded like you LMAO

This

The only correct choice is to hate both

who said I was Steam Shill?

I was just pointing out the policy of EPIC and how they take less of a cut from Devs and yet we can say fuck the devs when it comes to the sales.

>twitter.com/galyonkin/status/1083777713670942721
Yeah, so how long does it take to implement this, does this happen after the non existent shopping cart, or the review system, or community board?

You're devaluing the product in the eyes of future customers, retard.

>unless you own stock in epic, there's literally no reason to compete with steam

Unless you own stock in epic, there's literally no reason to defend the epic store

This

>Unlimited refunds within 14 days and under 2 hours played
So basically Steam refunds then? God, Epic, understand Steam-senpai doesnt give a fuck about you and do something else

There is one good reason, it trigger normies like nothing else

The right way of convincing people to use the epic store:

>sure it's barebones, and epic might be shady, but I'm sure it'll be good in time. No need to rush anything.

Wrong way to do it:

>YOU STUPID STEAM SHILLS YOU ONLY HATE EPIC BECAUSE YOU'RE SUCKING OFF GABEN REEEE

>pirating
I've been telling people to pirate games on the EGS. The Chinese already paid for the game you're pirating, so it's not like the devs are losing money like they would in the past. It's a win/win. Chinks pay for your game, you get it free.

Pretty sure valve is a private company, which is how they can do all the pro-consumer things they've done over the years.

Also, Epic is just not a corporation I want to enter into a trust-based relationship with re: my game library.
They put out on-disc Early Access Fortnite for $60 (up to $200 for fancy editions), and never labelled anywhere that the game was unfinished. Sony didn't even have an early access at the time, and I think still doesn't.
And then when a licensee had a huge hit with PuBG they abandoned that fortnite to jump on this Battle Royale thing.
That sort of flexibility might look nice to a share holder, but not to someone wanting to license game ownership from their digital store.

>Steam

There is no choice, both are sucking USA and China dicks. Remember to buy games only on GoG if you care about white race

>That's really irrelevant
It's a well-used feature on platforms that allow it. A direct tie between a game and the score it gets within the store will give consumers a quick way to assess whether or not it is worth looking at, and therefore will make the market more competitive. Especially for DLC, most times people don't look too heavily into reviews of the item.
Shopping carts are a good feature. Epic sometimes shits the bed when you try to buy a game, so at least then you don't have to wait for the system to fix itself.
Epic being the only party in charge of sales can be pretty bad; look at Borderlands. Because of ambitious business, it can negatively affect the long-term price of the game.

>People everyday point out reasons why epic store is terrible.
>"there's literally no reason to hate the epic store"
Why do you people have to shill so much abd so blatant? Even if people didnt hate the epic store they would hate it solely because of you shills.

>epice store has sale
>want to buy multiple games
>there's no shopping cart
>have to buy every game on it's own
>get flagged by the system as fraud
>account gets banned
Good job, Sweeney

Gamers are generally cringe and low IQ, you're talking to a wall.

>They're ready to buy right here
They literally aren't though your disaster of a sale removed most of the games anyone cared about lmao.

>They're right here
>And ONLY here because fuck you
>No, we don't give a shit that it was announced that it going to be available on other platforms a year ago, either buy it from us or go fuck yourself

>Pretty sure valve is a private company, which is how they can do all the pro-consumer things they've done over the years.

Like being charged for anti-consumers practices? Fucking EA is more customer friendly than valve, and they also sucks. Companies are not your friends, they are here to make profit and nothing else.

>disables your account when you buy too many games
>no shopping cart
>owned by chinese government
>no proven security
>they keep refunding games because devs get annoyed with them
Wow yeah I'm so happy with this marketplace I'm forced to use

Both the epic store and Origin don't work in this territory.
I repeat, fuck cliff blizenski, fuck todd howard, and fuck you op

I hate the Epic store because it's a piece of shit.

While Steam and Valve have done so much to further gaming on Linux, Epic actively opposes Linux.

>Do you really need to know xXx420Killa69xXx's personal opinion on a game?

I do like knowing what my friends thought without having to ask them for every purchase it says they played. A positive review by a friend is the main reason I bought Space Marine.

Attached: this ones on me.png (696x493, 335K)

The store itself is actually shit, it looks bad, it handles bad, it has no shopping cart, its sale is a actual lie and not even approved of the creators of the games.

If epic just copied Steam it would be fine and useable, as it is its just trash with nothing going for it for the consumers

awa

>my DRM is better than your DRM
the absolute state of nu-Yea Forums

The same could be said about epic, sweeney is a bigger billionaire than Gabe and Sweeney is already more openly against consumers than Gabe. Shilling for epic or steam is still shilling for billionaires.

Regardless I still think it's a really greedy shit move to buy store exclusivity for games

I was onboard with them offering a better cut, but not like this

>taking money back from the chinese market is the same as giving money back to the chinese market
If I HATED somebody, wouldn't I want to TAKE BACK things from them?

Attached: 1553050187232.jpg (300x250, 16K)

>I have no clue what drm is
We know, retard.

The only things that I was interested in from Epic are Jazz Jackrabbit and Unreal.

Both of those are dead, one because of Cliffy being a fucking retard and the other because of Fortnite.

I have every reason to hold just a tiny bit of hostility towards them.

Attached: 1558044444336.jpg (1142x1087, 122K)

This has single-handedly proved that capitalism is always to the disadvantage to the customer lol

Attached: 1558191572903.jpg (1412x814, 267K)

Steam is literally better than Epic in every way though. just because you put a buzzword in your post doesn't make what you green texted wrong other than you having no clue what DRM actually is..

Attached: 1370099379112.jpg (332x303, 40K)

W-well, they'll stop doing it if Valve would only shoot themselves in the foot!

Unless you own stock in Epic there is no reason to keep posting these shitty bait threads, their store sucks, their exclusivity practise sucks, they just did a sale and it managed to suck so bad they pissed off the developers using their platform and froze accounts for buying too many games in the sale.

Also you suck.

Attached: Spyware.webm (1259x992, 1.85M)

There's also no reason for me to install the Epic Store when it does nothing for me as a consumer and when it's even beginning to make publishers and devs angry.

>Virtue signal games not following their religion
They're just as bad as Steam.

You mean steamworks, the stores themselves aren't DRM

>No reason to hate Chinese botnet
Okay, Tencent.

I hate the epic store because it's literally inferior feature wise to Steam, and there's no reason for me to give my money to it, despite how badly they're trying to force me to with all the exclusivity crap.

BASED AND SEXPILLED

im surprised chinks worked with steam instead of outright coding an exact copy of their platform and banning steam

What if i hate jews?

Out of curosity, what would epic need to do to win over steam?

Unless you own stock in Epic, there's literally no reason to say Epic is better, when it's so clear that it's objectively worse.

Name one way in which the Epic Games Store provides a better user experience than Steam. You can't.

code?

*multitude of arguments why EGS is good for the videogame industry*

I win, that easy.

Your account getting blocked after 5 purchases because of the lack of a shopping cart leads you to avoid impulse expenses.

all wojakposters must burn

>Buy multiple games during a sale
>Get your account flagged

>unless you own stock in [insert domestic / high quality service provider name here], there's literally no reason to hate [insert vastly inferior chinese knockoff]

nice mental gymnastics, "epic3.png"

Attached: 1555163035398.jpg (1000x1000, 243K)

They could try putting some effort into making their store and client better, instead of just spending all their money on exactly what gamers hate, making sure that popular games are held hostage on what remains an inferior service.

kek

But then it would be just steam with no network effect. There would be no reason to use it anyway

fpbp

I wonder, why do the shills keep making these threads?
All that they have managed accomplish, is infamy, hate and detrimental facts about epic store.

They're LITERALLY doing more harm than good by creating discussion that openly mocks and disagrees with them.

Attached: 1558036631964.gif (483x556, 3.77M)

>Stop being a botnet
>Get ALL those planned features working as top priority
>Automate game addition, have games be able to opt out of sales without getting removed
>Stop buying into the market
Six months for a shopping cart, gifting and reviews is unforgivable. Stop buying exclusives, make a stable launcher first. Then give some kind of benefit to lure customers in. Then wait. Steam has rooted too deeply to be removed, but Epic could get good progress with its growth

Doesn't run on my operating system.

Reminder to only buy DRM-free releases, whether is on GOG.com, Playism, Humble Store, GamersGate, Itch.io (fuck Plug-in-Digital), Fireflower Games or developers' stores.

>make your entire campaign revolve around how you're better for devs
>put their games up for sale without even consulting them
>calling them greedy after they pull out because you're devaluing their product by discounting the preorder

Epic truly is the demonstration of people with more money than brains at hand. Their only plan was to throw money at anticipated games, but I don't think they planned any further than that.

Nah they apparently made it so companies who didn't want their games to be on sale went on sale anyways. So companies pulled out and then epic said those companies were being greedy. It's ironic for a company trying to be "for the developers."

>calling them greedy after they pull out because you're devaluing their product by discounting the preorder

No one from epic called anyone greedy tho, my advice to you is to not trust game journalists.

this kills the insect

Attached: AMP-12-Red_grande.jpg (554x600, 65K)

>my advice to you is to not trust game journalists.
Yeah, especially ones that shit on Steam and tout Epic as the savior of PC gaming.

Running your sale so incompetently that games are pulled from your store is not good for consumers. You think consumers not being able to buy games is good?

I'm not as salty as others, but I mean there are legit reasons:
>Most of peoples established library is on steam
>Most of peoples friendslist is on steam
>steam has more features (you could possibly list them individually as advantages but I'm lazy)
>the store isn't dogshit and doesn't force you to buy shit one at a time

So people are understandably pissed when games they anticipated only release on a objectively worse platform. The only plus points for Epic is that they pay devs more, which is nice. But that doesn't matter for most consumers.

>That damage control
They called paradox devs greedy jews
They're not wrong in that Paradox is staffed by greedy jews, but saying that when you're supposedly 'pro-developer' and not adding their game back on your store in time for hype season is a big issue

EGS is an objectively better platform.

>literally 90% of steams features missing

I just don't want more than one fucking launcher

false flagger

Achievements, auto updating, trading cards, friends, et al. I don't use any of them, but people like them. Also, developers and publishers don't like their DRM-free versions having multiplayer, even if just with LAN. I only DRM-free, but I wish there could be developments in this regard.

cringe and epicpilled

Valve had a similar on-the-house price refund during the Lunar Sale but didn't piss off publishers because they had the sense to only display it at checkout instead of showing it in every single game's price.

*I only buy DRM-free

I'm so glad Epic shills can't even argue anymore without lashing out and shitting themselves everywhere.

What is their endgame?

This is actually quite hilarious.
For as far as we know, epic might've costed steam a pretty penny, but the only thing Valve has said is that they think it's unfair to the consumers that publishers go epic exclusive despite having a steam store page with preorders for several months if not years prior to backstabbing

September 11 attacks

their security sucks, their page sucks. It's just a launcher. They suck

Alrighty mr. Chinamen. Justify me going to EGS what with its faults and all to just up and drop everything I've invested in on steam. Exclusives are not a good enough reason and I'm perfectly fine waiting for bl3 to be released on steam.

>Borderlands two has the shortest exclusive timeline on epic and will likely be cheaper on steam
>recent shitshow likely made Randy reconsider if epic was a good bet
>all other exclusives are usually literal who indie games that nobody cares about
this is your brain on chink money

The deal was made by 2K. Does his company see money? Likely (I don't know who really owns the IP). But the deal wasn't made by them.

That feature list is incorrect, it needs:

>Steam: No
>Epic: Yes

Order of War: Challenge.

When are they finally releasing Journey?

Man it's going to blow your mind when you discover Fortnite needs the Epic Games Launcher to run. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with first-party games running on a first-party platform (except having tons of bloatware launchers filling up your PC).

Yeah, tell that to metro exodus and anno 1800

>Comparing a game that got almost zero marketing from the publisher going out of business versus a game that got boatloads of marketing
>Omit the detail "In the UK"
>Actual sale numbers of Exodus are so small they never mention it: just that cherry picked comparison

Remember: World War Z's ~200k was a big number for Epic when Risk of Rain 2 sold over a million on Steam.

>If the only way you can get people to use your service is by holding games hostage

Those just moved from Steam to Epic. They didn't disappear. Meanwhile, some other exclusives on Epic... they just up and vanished for some reason!

>good games sell good
>bad games sell bad
Shocking

This. Also in order to delete your account you have to put in a request and wait for a worker to delete it for you. It's asinine.

>epic shills are using wojack memes now
you sure showed us steam users

oh look, it's the
>metro sold more!
argument again
WOW, it's almost as if videogames as a hobby have generated more interest in the last half a decade, increasing the revenue in the business!
It's also almost like metro franchise was previously a niche and fairly ignored game to begin with, and therefore only had room to go up in popularity.
ALSO, it's almost like Metro last light had a massive flood of viral marketing, marketing and paid streamer advertising in addition to existing fans that could've maybe affected the sales!

There's no way it would've ""this much"" if it was on steam!
SURELY this is a win for epic!

Attached: 1551820533284.webm (364x320, 684K)

Hi Tim, I hate your shitty platform because you don't allow reviews, you don't allow refunds, you don't have cloud saving, you don't have a built in voice chat system, you don't support mods, and because you're a chink sellout faggot.

China will grow larger.

meanwhile with marketing
>bad games sell good
take a look at everything EA has released in the past 10 years.
Even the gigaflop that is Anthem managed to turn a small profit despite millions upon millions of wasted money and 7 years of development hell.
All thanks to massive marketing, which was probably even better funded than the actual fucking game

Metro did way better on egs than on steam. Just accept that, no amount of mental gymnastic will change it.

Family sharing is fucking shit

>Metro did way better on egs than on steam
It wasn't on steam retard, you literally can't compare it when it's not available on both platforms.

Name ONE game that is on both egs and steam, where the egs version has sold more.
You LITERALLY can't.

No,it is 207k(source: premium steamspy) on steam and around 900k(on launch only) on epic.
Steam is already dead, face it people. You are going to lose all your steam games in about 2 to 3 years so you may as well use epic now.

"For them" at the end was not necessary and confusing.

500k Preorders on steam before it was forced into exclusivity. Those 500k people can still play it on steam but can no longer purchase it until the Timed exclusivity ends.
While EPIC has 120k Units purchased and it's been available for a while and is still available for purchase. Not even 1/5th of the people who bought it on steam want buy it on epic.
>steamspy
You mean the guy who works for EPIC?

This but unironically.

The amount of COPE in these posts

>literally no source given

>Do you really need to know xXx420Killa69xXx's personal opinion on a game?
as a matter of fact yes
youtube and review sites never come back to review games months or years later, they don't review DLC's and overhauling updates
with games constantly updating and changing having up to date reviews is very important
xXx420Killa69xXx has played 3000h and is displeased with the latest update but perhaps the next update made him come back to the game after a months long hiatus
opinions from long-term comunity members are the best reviews and you don't find that on youtube or review sites

So you pretty much took last light redux numbers and used the 2.5x number to get that 900k right? What a waste of time even responding to this level of reading comprehension.

I mean it is just a legitimately bad storefront. The interface is garbage and it's impossible to narrow browsing unless you want to dig through literally everything in the store. Search didn't even exist until like a month ago. Wishlists won't be in for another 4 months minimum. The ETA for a fucking shopping cart is OVER SIX MONTHS. It's crazy how awful it is right now.

that 500k you are mentioning is from freemium steamspy you retard, and it does not show actuall numbers but a range of numbers. Premium does, and it's 203k.

That would've been true 70 years ago where getting your name out in the first place was a challenge but we live in the Age of Communication now, nigga.
Everyone from everywhere can know just how much of a piece of a shit you are with only a few button presses and refuse to do business with you now.

If you can't see the difference, I won't be able to think it through for you. Effort after folly, I'll still try:

Valve makes a game and decides they want to sell a game. They made a platform to deliver the game to customers and want people to use that platform; as a result they sell the game they made only on that platform (where applicable). This exclusivity is born from a structural first-party seller decision.

Epic/Tencent does not make a given game, but instead has paid a game developer to sell their game only in their store; they do this repeatedly with various developers and games to ensure other stores cannot sell these game. This is anti-competitive practice, as it is creating structural barriers to other storefronts stocking a given game; in contrast, Fortnite being an EGS exclusive is reasonable because Epic made the game and is under no obligation to sell it to or though anyone they don't want to.

If you're too busy chewing on crayons to read that, allow me to sum it up: One is a sales decision, the other is market manipulation; one is the decision to sell your game the way you like, the other is a decision to pay off others to have them not sell their game through specific stores. One is an exercise of private enterprise, the other is fucking mafia shit.

3 times yes

prove it

Working with china =! working for china
Epic is the latter, Steam is the former.

He later added on twitter it would mean cheaper pricing but we already get much steeper discounts through 3rd party sites. So yes basically nothing and it never will. It's just here to give more money to fat cats and devs that were doing well off even on Steam.

Nice mental gymnastics faggot. Epic exclusives are bad, so are steam exclusives. Does not matter if they are paid or not, in both cases the devs/publishers are the one to blame. No one force them to publish their games in one place, yet they are doing it all the time. Inb4 epic forces them, no.

>good reason.
That's not a good reason.

All these people love to blame Steam but the real problem is the amount of indie devs making games and the limited amount of time people have. Even console the same shit is happening.

Attached: Screenshot_20190518-191850_Firefox.jpg (1080x1055, 422K)

In case you had difficulty with the big words I used, lets try this more simply.

Valve has a store and they sell a thing they make. They don't distribute through other stores this thing, which is fine, because they make the thing. They sell other things in their store because other people that make things asked for shelf space. This is reasonable.

EG has a store and they sell a thing they make. They don't distribute that thing through other stores, which is fine, but they then pay others to stop offering Valve or other stores things to sell and to sell only through their service. This is anti-competitive and props up the EGS against alternatives via outside forces. This is the kind of shit that easily pops up in anti-trust case-law; it's blatant market manipulation.

Try and rub those neurons together for a minute and see if you can figure out the difference. If you can and have an argument in defense of EGS, by all means have at, but if you can't see the difference it's time to stop posting.

Lack of shopping cart means you need to buy games individually during a sale.

Buying more than a few games (or rather, making more than a few transactions) within a short period (say, 20 minutes) will result in your account getting fully locked for abuse.

That's pretty bad.

strawpoll.me/18020918/r
Let's settle this

Why in the fuck would you willingly defend a corporation who has investors from Fox, Disney, China, and a bunch of other greedy fucks vs 1 fat man who at least still makes games despite having the ability to retire?

Retard.

No seriously, are you just left alone? Any company worth a shit has guidelines and pulling a "hello fellow gamers" with dead facebook memes is a surefire way to get spotted even by the most senile boomer retard.
>t. doing work in marketing

If you don't know what those words mean I can explain them to you: Anti-trust means legal action against businesses using their power and resources to manipulate the free market and allegedly level playing field of capitalism. Case law is what we describe the body of precedent established by case-by-case rulings of a country's court systems.

As a result, market manipulation that is similar to the various historical abuses of powerful corporations and multinationals would be considered similar to the existing body of anti-trust case-law.

Exclusivity is a tumour in the gaming industry, and now it's gone cancerous and spread to PC.
They hypocritically claim to be a "competitor to Steam", yet don't have faith in their ability to compete on a level playing field.

has anybody created a list of what epic shills usually say before and after they get btfo

Having to pay extra transaction fees on top of your purchase is a good enough reason to not use epic.

An anti-trust never applied to exclusivity of creative works. If it was by that, then there wouldn't be paid third parties consoles exclusives nor streaming wars.

You don't understand the concept. Steam comes with ratings, forums, achievements, friends lists, and it's whole self-built system with everything from it's inventory system for storing coupons/cards/backgrounds/emotes/games, to it's easy to use workshop for adding mods with a single click. Epic comes with none of that.

I've spent over $3000 on Steam over 2 decades, I've amassed thousands of games, and achievements, and everyone that sees my profile knows what kind of gamer I am, they know I love roguelikes but dip into just about every genre ever, they know I go for some specific rarer achievements but avoid going for 100% on most games, they know which games I've been playing recently, which are my actual favorites, which games I sink the most hours into, they know ME as a gamer. The second I join another platform, Epic or otherwise, I lose that link instantly, as you can no longer see all of my games through Steam (linking them as non-steam games is not that useful) or my achievements or whether or not I cared enough about the game to get the badges, since the badges won't fucking exist.

Right now I have my entire collection behind 1 account, I can say "hmm, I feel like playing a videogame", and Steam is 1 click away, where I can download and play anything quickly in 1 list. Adding extra launchers cripples that, it means there's multiple lists, multiple apps to open, and it's a shitshow.

If Epic was actually a great service I might not mind, but they fuck up too much. Literally today they fucked up by having the MEGA sale, which Borderlands 3's top dogs hated so much they PULLED THE FUCKING GAME FROM THE STORE for the time being. If Epic can't even communicate with the people they have exclusive deals with, why should I trust them to never fuck me over?

Where's the "fffuck" guy that always shills for epic in these threads

Nobody seemed to bother with that, just like nobody cared about their little China store deals.

>Publishers aren't getting fucked over.
Right, that's why publishers are scrambling to do shit like raise prices and some straight up REMOVE THE GAME FROM THE STORE for the duration of the sale, like Borderlands 3.

You're retarded if you can't comprehend the concept that forcing a dev to participate in a sale is a bad thing even if they pay the dev the "full price". It devalues the game and the public's opinion on it, people will say "oh, Borderlands 3 is on sale before it's even fucking out? This is gonna be the next Battleborn, isn't it?" or "Wait, the game was $10 off before, If I wait a little bit it'll probably get an even bigger sale soon", or a multitude of other things.

Congrats on being able to buy 4 games without being banned though, what an accomplishment.

>Buying Western shit at launch

>inhuman transgender twitter bots will defend this

Epic doesn't give the fuck about the consumer, they lock down games to their platform with exclusivity deals (which removes consumer choice) and don't even give enough of a shit for the consumers convenience to add something like a god damn shopping cart. Their "pro-developer" stance is bullshit as well since they are offering discounts to games without the developers knowledge, and as a result some of these devs have increased the price of their games (or even removed them from the store temporarily) to compensate for the shit Epic is pulling with the most recent sale. So if they don't give a fuck about consumers, why should the average consumer ever support the Epic Store?

Attached: 1554415477636.jpg (670x767, 70K)

name exactly 2 and a half games that does this

I want you to use your brain for a moment and think why anti-trust law may not currently have significant precedent and body of discussion for technologies that are less than 10 years old, as well as why console exclusives may exist when console hardware is non-interchangeable.

>Syndication exclusivity (also known as syndex) is a federal law implemented by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States that is designed to protect a local television station's rights to syndicated television programs by granting exclusive broadcast rights to the station for that program in their local market, usually defined by a station's Nielsen Designated Market Area.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syndication_exclusivity

Completely legal.

the only one seething is your dad because you keep stealing his creditcard for fortnite skins
no one else gives a shit if your too stupid to protect your privacy or use 'your' money wisely

Provide service and features surpassing those of Steam, without resorting to tactics that put a bad taste in the mouths of consumers and developers. They're doing the exact opposite right now, the store is barebones as fuck and screws over players and devs. Forcing exclusives is not a good thing, if I wanted that shit I'd have saved money by getting a console instead of dropping $1400 on a PC to make sure I could play EVERY game i wanted on PC.

Exclusivity is bad. If I wanted stupid console bullshit I'd play stupid console bullshit.

Yeah. I wonder, how does Steam manage to successfully pull off massive sales including 90% of the store, but Epic fails miserably? Could communications with the people who make the content you sell actually matter?

Attached: dogbaby1of3.jpg (449x818, 85K)

This is why we need retail back.

>They're ready to buy right here
Except publishers are removing their games because Epic is so inept they didn't ask before putting their games on discount

>stop taking away games!
>but i've already took them..
great job op

>i'm going to purposely buy shit on a bad store to anger people
I.... guess? That seems counter-intuitive.

DRM'd (as long as is account based) physical is fucking useless.

NO, it's not. I use Family Sharing with 4 dudes from my university and it means we spend literally 1/5 the amount on games. Whenever a new game comes out only 1 of us has to buy it for all of us to be able to play it. There's literally no downside to it, you can autistically moan "BU-but only 1 person can play a game from your account at a time!", but that's how it works in every fucking system autist, giving my friend the option to play when I'm in class or asleep or even just playing something offline is a pure benefit. I've saved hundreds this year alone in gaming just by spreading the cost over 4 other guys who also constantly game.

Do you not know how business works in China?

If you do not partner with a Chinese firm you will NOT be doing business in China. Period. The catch is once you do this they reverse engineer your shit, undercut you and ruin you because bugmen only buy state approved products.

I had to put an authenticator on my account because a Chinese bastard kept trying to log in. Fuck epic.

We all know that publishers hate that. There's nothing they hate more that the second hand market.

DRM free just means when my harddrive fails I lose the game. There's nothing wrong with Steam, if you're afraid of them you can download the games just like DRM free sites and just play offline, steam games with DRM-free options don't magically just go "oh you're offline so you can't play".

>B-But they're not taking games away

Link me to somewhere I can pre-order borderlands 3 on PC.

retard.

Retail took as much as 60% of the revenue

TIMED exclusive. Eventually they'll run out of money or devs will stop letting them buy them out.

Try moving to places without Internet. DRM-free games can be installed very easily. You can't really do that with the majority of Steam's catalogue.

天安門
民主主義
習近平是可愛黄色熊

This, I can't remember the last time I bought something from Steam unless it wasn't on GOG.

Opus Magnum is on GOG, your "point" is moot. I'd rather GOG have curation than Steam's absolutely retarded "let's allow anything on there, even blatant scams and malware."

I am looking at it right now

*DRM-free
Fix'd. Not everything that has a DRM-free build is on GOG.com.

>he still buys into the narrative that devs go to epic for higher cuts and not massive cash payouts which mean their games don't even have to sell.

>DRM free just means when my harddrive fails I lose the game
What a completely retarded post

Both are fine. If I want curated stuff, I go to GOG and, at best, make noise so they take some particular title. If I want some hidden gem, I go to Itch.io or Humble Store.

Steam doesn't NEED to give a higher cut, devs benefit innately from being on Steam. More users see the games, the games can get free advertising from the backgrounds/emotes of the game (each game gets 5 if they are made, plus the set of cards), games get forums and guides and reviews and the workshop and all kinds of other shit to keep games alive and discussed.

Careful posts like that will bring around the Taval fag or whatever that shit was called.

Wasn't Satisfactory taken off of the sale?

Ah yes, if you don't have internet DRM-free wins, truly that is the way of the future.

There would be a lot less hostility if they had actually earned anything and weren't just bribing devs for exclusivity contracts on their shitty platform.

They rejected 7 mages because it was turn based. They reject games for the most insane reasons. They only change their minds when fan outcry happens. Wizardy was just rejected for whatever reason they pull out of a hat.

>banned for buying games
why do people keep saying this? The guy had his credit card locked for separate rapid online purchases, not a banned epic account.

Which one of you guys wrote this?

Might aswell as I have 250 games on Steam.

You don't really own a single one out of these games so it's basicaly imaginary stocks with no resela value and with no profits whatsoever.

Honestly this is all you need to say fuck EGS, not even mentioning how tencent owns 40 percent of Epic, or that Tim has been caught lying about something, OR that Tim has gone back on things several times shortly after a public statement from Epic was put out.
I cannot, in good faith, trust Epic Games, but more importantly, I cannot USE Epic Games Store without feeling like its one massive frustrating experience.

Imagine being born Chinese thousands of years too late to be a badass conqueror.

Reminder that if you're not OK with Steam, you can set up your own store with FastSpring, Digital River, Humble Widget and BMT Micro.

I learned of the latter thanks to an old story of Steam curation.

Are there any objective reasons to hate the Epic store? All I see are personal value assessments that I couldn't care less about.

For me, it requires a launcher to download games. I don't use Steam either for this reason.

I support Epic only because I hate Valve and wish it nothing but failure after they abandoned making actual games.

Refer to

I got it once to try Paragon out by after that died my email's been perpetually hammered by that store about login attempts. Already use Steam, Uplay, and GOG. That's more than enough games in my lifetime.

Also, I don't really agree with their stance on not wanting some of the features steam has. Steam forums/reviews are perfect for obscure niche indie games. Sometimes they're the only places you can find actual troubleshooting/bug reports and any sort of genuine reviews to read about the game.

>mfw not even third worlders want epic or their business

>lacks features that are in every other launcher
>paid exclusives as opposed to exclusive due to being developed / published by the people who made the launcher (Bnet, origin)
>Chinese-owned, data collected can be assumed to be personal / private info for Chinese government surveillance
>brought console war faggotry to PC in a way never thought possible, let alone wanted
>tries to screw over customers while telling them it's good for them (the failed sale, paid exclusives, lack of customer reviews, regional pricing)
I may have missed some. I hope to compile a larger list.

pretty much this desu
despite people saying "lol just use discord and leddit" I've lost count of how many devs actually replied to my questions on steam

Forums are essential.

There's regional pricing. That's what caused problems for them in this sale.

Multiple individual purchases also trigger's fraud protection services on your credit card, further causing issues for you.

The method to "consumer protection" in this case is completely bass ackwards.

GOG + VPN with Russian IP beats them all.

Attached: Logo_GoG.png (350x350, 118K)

It devalues the better stores AND the games it has exclusively by existing. Someone that loves a game series (say, Borderlands) will be incapable of getting them all on 1 platform if Epic takes exclusive rights to it for a time, unless they wait 6 months. Borderlands 3 won't come with insta-inviting your friends to join through the app, or insta-joining friends through the app, for example, you'll need to use the in-game menus.

Steam is worse off because you now have to wait 6 extra months to buy that game you want even though it's finished, and that's for the games that are only timed exclusive.

Borderlands is worse off because now the new entry loses the basic benefits that come with Steam for it's first 6 months. No insta-invites, no in-service streams, no dedicated screenshot button.

Say whatever you want, but Epic existing isn't just "more competition", it devalues the things it touches. Image a group of goblins that all make little gadgets, and they all share technology so every goblin can make most of the gadgets, and then 1 goblin comes around and sabotages the others by going to the inventors and gaining the technology for only themselves, disrupting the entire system. Sure, people might use this shitty new goblin if they want the gadgets it makes, but that's not saying "wow, this goblin is good", it's just saying "this goblin forces me to have no other choice, so I guess I have to deal with it". Now the people that like 1 specific goblin because he adds extra features or a little charm to his gadgets lose out on those things, and they need to divide attention when they didn't need to in the past. It's bad for the other goblins, it's bad for the people that like the gadgets with extra features, it's bad for EVERYONE but the new tricky goblin and I guess the inventor, in the cases where the inventor doesn't grow to regret the decision and pull the patent away from the goblin for a while when it tries some bullshit "MEGA" sale.

shill somewhere else

Steam is DRM and is far more expensive than GOG.
Why are you defending Steam?
Are you retarded?

unless you own stock in epic, there's literally no reason to shill the epic store.

This

I don't want to use a launcher of any kind to play games.

Isn't steam DRM opt-in?

>Forums are essential.
Notably forums where the devs are involved are essential. Have an issue/bug with an indie game? Check Steam forums for the game, and if that fails you can always post a message on Steam forums to get a reply from the actual devs, which will then exist for other people to find if the bug is system-side or the devs can't patch it right away but the workaround exists.

It's just a fact that if I played a game on Epic Store I'd still go to Steam Forums to troubleshoot the game... for the games lucky enough to have steam forums the devs might visit, that is.

Because it wasn't available on steam idiot.

it's another thing to plug into and i am too lazy for that. plus you know, china.

>never get attempted log in attempts for my gmail
>register for epic games
>suddenly get at least 3 attempts a week from some chink or thai ip

>tfw you google how to fix a certain bug/problem in the game and one of the very first results are steam forums

Sometimes I think people are too retarded to use the tools given to them.

Just like Epic. However, many people say that having to use something else than a browser to download a game constitutes a form of DRM.

>Sometimes I think people are too retarded to use the tools given to them
That's because they are. Mouthbreathers complain how steam is too clogged up and you can't find any good games completely ignoring the existence of the fucking steam curator system in place to circumvent that in the first place.

Epic employed questionable tactics to access Steam user data, and their launcher has no measurable benefit for users over Steam. It isn't even close from a features and QOL perspective. Epic is using their Fornite install base and Tencent money to moneyhat publishers into exclusivity deals on a platform where that sort of cancer was mostly avoided until very recently. It actively pushes pro-publisher aspects like no reviews or boards etc. in a pre-emptive damage control tactic. Why would you willingly give up functionality just to give some asshat suits more money?

Attached: 12079680.png (210x230, 3K)

5/10 bait. You didn't try but somehow managed to get this many replies from morons

Source?

I started pirating because of Steam. Why does Valve get a pass for taking away choice by getting rid of physical copies, giving digital distribution a monopoly on PC, and making it so going through some console wannabe platform is the only legal way to play games on PC?
Death to Valve and death to Epic.
Doesn't even need to be retail but I would have no problem with retail, we just need actual physical copies with the entire game on the physical media and that doesn't require any shitty console wannabe platform whether it be Steam or Epic to be sold again. Fuck paying for a download.
Not comparable, retail has limited space which is inherent advertising, have to deal with physical products, and they outright buy the physical copies from the publisher.
This, these dumb fuck brainwashed Valve drones pretend like physical PC copies NEED to have CD keys or go through Steam, they don't, they can have the physical copies be DRM free, hell DRM free physical copies are more DRM free than GOG

You're right, but they do try to their best to let you know beforehand. I wish more companies were half as ethically pro-consumer as they are
