Why is Yea Forums so elitist?

Why is Yea Forums so elitist?

Don't you all think you should tone it down some notches?

It's just video games, after all.

shut up nigger

It's this sort of behavior that gets us mediocre video games

Videogame elitism or hardcore gaming are oxymorons. Gaming is the most casual non-hardcore consumption hobby there is, on-par with watching TV, reading comic books, listening to music, etc. So being elite or hardcore about gaming is like "elite music listener" or "hardcore TV watcher", aka it's fucking retarded.
It's a dumb non-hobby.

>It's this sort of behavior that gets us mediocre video games
being elitist?

Being overly open & desacralising issues by saying " It's just games ".. It's usually spat out by people who will not do anything upon consuming mediocrity, and this eventually taints the industry.

None of those things require your interaction beyond pressing play

lmao Yea Forums barely even plays hard games now

What is the most hardcore then?

When you become braindead enough to think that having standards means being elitist.

So? There is nothing hardcore about button pressing. It's pretty fucking easy.

said like a true faggot

Actual hobbies. Maybe motorcycle racing, or being a marathoner or some shit. Being an acrobat seems pretty fucking hardcore. Tons of actual hobbies besides "press X to awesome"

>nu-Yea Forums
>elitist

everyone talks shit on this board, but the average skill of people who browse this board is complete garbage

Because if you have the attitude of "it's just video games", you'll then have the attitude of "it's just a temp job" "it's not a serious relationship" "it's not a room I use often" "they're not really a close family member" "It's not like I'll live that long anyway".

You're right in that making steps towards major life goals should get more effort than getting victory royale.
But people who say "It's just videogames" aren't saying "Focus your efforts on what matters". They're saying "It's okay to suck shit, when even a little effort could make you better".
That is the attitude that lets Entropy into your life to tear up the carpet.
Getting good is hard, yes. But getting mediocre is piss easy, and yet people play the "It's just a game pro" card for not even putting in that tiny amount of effort.
They get used to having fun without working for it, and that's not a sustainable attitude in the rest of life.

What you call elitism is an expectation for other human beings to at least bloody try to improve.
It's not elite. It's well within your capabilities to fulfill it. You're just lazy and think you should still have fun without having to work for it.
Well, good for you. But know that this isn't you failing to achieve an elite higher rank. This is you looking up a set of normal stairs, and saying "There's no escalator. I won't."

My only problem with Yea Forums is when it admits to not playing a game but holds it in high regard anyway because Yea Forumscore. Anyone got that screencap where the guy discovers he doesn't like Bayonetta but keeps trying to anyway saying "its clearly a masterpiece and i respect it" and then a kermit poster absolutely rips him a fucking new one for being such a try hard newfag? Anyone?

Damn...can't believe I'm gonna say this in the Yea Forums (Video Games) board but this is pretty god damn B.A.S.E.D.

Have a 4vote.

Trying to get better taste is admirable and I respect the man for sticking to Bayonetta even if he doesn't like it.
But ... is he just trying to play through it without enjoying it? If so that won't work and is dumb. You have to learn to enjoy it first.

elitists literally only accept elitists posts like Resetera thus they are/become elitists

your usage of the term is simply wrong.

I suppose it is a bit of a hivemind. Still, it's not like there's a middle ground between "at least trying" and "thinks they shouldn't have to try".

>But ... is he just trying to play through it without enjoying it?

Not only that but he mocked any common sense from anons that said "maybe its just not for you buddy" by reeeeeing about "acshully Yea Forums said..."

>Why is Yea Forums so elitist?
To keep fags like you away.

Yea Forums is elitist?
Really, you think Yea Forums IS ELITIST?

Let me guess, you're just another shitter that got told "git gud" because you gave up after trying to play a Souls game.

Go play some moba shit to find out what real elitism looks like.

Attached: 1557962746863.png (900x900, 314K)

What?
Why would you acknowledge "This is good and I should like this" without actually TRYING to like it? Yes your tastes can be shit, but you change them. You don't just facetank shit you don't enjoy. That's dumb.

Tell that to professional Starcraft koreans and inhuman reflex fps players.

Sounds like you're just a bitter shitter

>another shitter that got told "git gud" because you gave up after trying to play a Souls game
I don't believe this happens

Which part is unbelievable?
Getting told to git gud is possible.
Giving up in a Souls game though... yeah, that seems pretty unlikely.

No nigga you aint getting this, he refused to aknowdge it could be anything less than perfect because Yea Forums said so. Entirely based on what Yea Forums said. He called it a fucking masterpiece in gaming BEFORE he even tried it.

I've seen plenty of raging streamers quit playing Sekiro before even beating the spear guy in Hirata

That doesn't sound too odd.
If you realise your tastes are shit, then you know that how you feel after trying it isn't necessarily correct.
If he really had no faith in his own tastes, then he'd have no reason to play the game before making up his mind, as how he personally feels is irrelevant to whether the game is good or not.
Bayo is no masterpiece, but it is pretty decent.

Yeah, but streamers are faggots who are so used to dodging emotional responsibility and shooting the messager instead of admitting "maybe I SHOULD feel bad about what that person said", that when they encounter frustration they can't dodge with a timeout they break down and cry.

People here aren't elitist enough, and the quality of Yea Forums would be higher if scrubs weren't spoonfed all day long.

Attached: Consider-The-Following-600x600.jpg (600x600, 48K)

They also don't come to Yea Forums because here on Yea Forums you can be told "kill yourself faggot" and the Twitch staff can't punish the person who said it.
That said, I suppose if a streamer DID come to Yea Forums, they could be told to get good.

What if the "I swear traps aren't gay and I'm not in denial you guys" ERPers got elitist though? Currently their own low standards are the only thing holding them in check.

it happens used to happen all the time.
I mean, you can't really prove who it is when everyone is anonymous here, but you can easily recognize their faggotry like DSP for example.

I bet my left testicle that faggots like him are constantly in their respective shitty e-celeb threads defending themselves in third person

That would be simultaneously pathetic that they'd do that, and impressive that they can face criticism without breaking down and crying.

I disagree. Its in the category of non-hardcore consumption hobbies (like reading and film) but its the most hardcore and interactive out of those. Obviously you can't compare it to sports or the arts but thats not a fair comparison. Not saying it justifies elitism, but really nothing does.
