It's official Yea Forums. Nippon Ichi went out of business. Their mobile game shut down soon after launch and they gained $0 from the service. This caused the entire game to be a flat out loss for them and they couldn't afford to pay their staff anymore.
They're still on life support right now but, yeah they'll probably die soon.
Shame.
William Turner
Nintendo, hire these men!
Robert Green
It is for the best. Disgaea peaked with Disgaea 5, anyway. Now it can only go downhill, which would be a shame to watch.
I'll be sad to see Disgaea going away, but all good things in life must come to an end sooner or later.
Goodbye, Nippon Ichi. I'll always love you.
Nintendo has no interest in a niche company for niche franchises, user. Don't even dream.
Isaiah Evans
F
Matthew Reyes
You know that IP is a sellable asset, right?
Disgaea might go to IF
Oliver Sanders
Who would though? or would they go to NISA?
Liam Foster
Arc System Works needs to buy Disgaea and make it fightan
Sebastian Rodriguez
Sad that all the Disgaea ports didn't make it to PC. Would of loved ports of The Prinny games too, but tough titties I guess.
Brody Torres
>phone """games""" they probably deserved it anyways
Eli Garcia
>or would they go to NISA? What do you mean? Isn't NISA just responsible for spreading their products? Besides, that would be a bad idea. Better to die Japanese than letting a filthy American touch any of your franchises with their filthy westerner hands to ruin them. Westerners don't understand how to make actually enjoyable games. They only understand how to make unenjoyable movies full of political agenda. This is why everything done in the west is utter worthless crap like McDonalds, MOBAs, Battle Royales or the Atomic Bomb.
Apparently Nippon Ichi couldn't even afford to develop the game with their own funds, they were relying primarily on stocks. And because the game had to go under maintenance for months, this lead to their stocks dropping A LOT. Which actually prevented them from being able to fix the game at all, on top of not affording their employees salaries.
Basically the people who were funding the game pulled out, and now they are facing a complete loss of money. This is worse than a game selling badly. The game didn't sell *at all*.
Jose Rodriguez
>he doesn't know how to emulate
Eli Hughes
Disgaea is nothing without its artist. The IP doesnt have any value, it's their artist.
John Roberts
I hope whoever gets the IPs in the fire sale brings back La Pucelle. Actually better yet, I'll shoot them an email and offer to trade this year's baby goats for the rights to that game.
Matthew Reed
>had several popular IP that saw critical success >the main IP got 5 games in the series and some spin offs >go out of business What went wrong?
Logan Bailey
Sucks because RPG was pretty shit given the half an hour I played while it was up.
Anthony Parker
Good. Not even one Nippon Ichi franchise should survive this. I don't want to see any of them becoming zombie franchises, it is the worst fate for any franchise. Death is better for a franchise. Hopefully all of them will go under.
Noah Torres
Does this mean i should pick up labrynth of refrain asap?
Ayden Bell
>2D SRPG's won't exist anymore. They already peaked with the PSP version of LUCT. No reason for them to exist anymore.
Parker Foster
>LUCT The what?
Cameron Richardson
What was even the issue with the mobile game in the first place? They made it sound like it just needed more servers.
Caleb Butler
Disgaea is popular enough for someone to buy the IP although perhaps not for as much as NIS wants.
Don't be pessimistic, man. Stop saying horrible stuff like that. No one will buy Disgaea and they will allow it to die together with Nippon Ichi. There are enough zombie franchises in vidya without yet another one joining them.
Parker Wright
Hilarious
Jack Carter
If Disgaea looked like Fell Seal, no one would buy it. FACT
Andrew Nguyen
And the artist is a freelancer so they can just hire him like NIS did.
Bentley Fisher
You know they can just, like hire the artist right?
Chase Gutierrez
Huge eShop/Steam sale soon????
Christian Stewart
I don't want NISA to get anything ever. The Cardcaptor Sakura blu-rays were translated to where everyone calls each other by first name which was extremely awkward when Syaoran called Sakura by her first name for the first time in a meaningful moment between them in the second arc. This was in the subtitled version so its not just some quirk from a half assed dub.
Xavier Kelly
Disgaea is too niche for that. Every single one of the Nippon Ichi franchises are the definition of niche. Disgaea is just as popular as a niche can be, but that doesn't make it magically not niche. Sakurai probably doesn't even know anything about Nippon Ichi, let alone Disgaea.
Kayden Watson
Apparently it had so many issues that people question if the game was rushed out a year before it should've released. The fact that the company is now tanking because of a bad launch also indicates that they rushed the release date just to get some revenue.
Gavin Reed
No one Japanese will buy their IPs, because they know they're worthless without their artists. No one Western will buy their IPs, because they're too niche in the West.
Grayson Adams
Seriously? People in the west don't call their younger peers "lastname-san" ever
This honestly just reeks of bad management, planning and probably outright embezzling. No company should be relying on an outsourced mobile game for their survival after having two consistent smash hits within a year of eachother.
James Parker
NO THEY CAN'T THATS BAD MANNERS
Daniel Wright
It will be death, but a good death.
The fuck?
Jeremiah Roberts
Since when has Nippon Ichi not released their games on PS4?
Jaxon Nguyen
>freelancer Dude, he's THE CEO of a subdivision of the company. He doesn't just do art.
Ryder Perry
Ok but disgaea 3 or disgaea 4, which is better
Asher Carter
>because they know they're worthless without their artists Harada is freelance. Ryoji has worked on games for other companies and even makes his own porn.
Parker Sullivan
Oh no come on now, I'm still waiting for the rest of their games to come to PC
Luis Richardson
This. Hiring the artist just to help them reanimate a corpse isn't a very nice thing to do. Let the games die. Don't bring back the dead, it is against the natural order of things.
Jacob Watson
4.
John Cruz
Don't hold your breath, Nippon Ichi's plane is crashing with no survivors.
Chase Barnes
You forgot to mention that they have been mass dumping a bunch of shitty games out. For every success they get 5 flops.
No. He's the CEO of his own company, also its only employee, and he freelances under it. Disgaea 4 is by far the best game in the series, 3 on Vita has some fun additions though
Nicholas Nelson
Good. Less weebshit.
Ryan Miller
Disgaea 3 had better characters and story, but Disgaea 4 had better gameplay and post-game content.
Leo Davis
What does 3 on the vita add? Recently hacked my vita and debating whether to play 3 or 4
Eli Murphy
Those games cost nothing to make and literally get teams of around 10 people working on them. also fuck you the princess guide was surprisingly good
Logan Scott
A Subsidiary is still owned by another company. Nippon Ichi owns it.
Wyatt Williams
Well, then he's going to become a freelancer real soon.
God, these idiots. I still can't believe this company had some much financial trouble and mismanagement. Not only couldn't they pay employees this time, but this happened before as well, after the horribleness that was Disgaea 3 not meeting expectations. Disgaea 5 was pretty much their last chance to pay them off and I can only imagine they convinced them to invest it all back into the company rather then to pull out and go to other places like when they had to do their previous massive layoff. So they took all that reinvested money from stocks for the mobile game and fucked it up and now don't have anything. Is there another company that has been this fucked? Because I can't think of anything.
Worse, NISA had already pretty much disassociated from them and were doing their own thing and were successful with translating other companies games. It wouldn't shock me if they managed to pick up the pieces from NIS and hold their IPs hostage with Falcom basically being the holder to coincide with Japanese law.
Samuel Collins
has nothing to do with younger peers. Everyone was on a first name basis period regardless of age or status aside from the teachers. Its extremely jarring even if you know zero Japanese you can still hear what they are saying and sometimes a persons lines do not amount to much more than saying the other persons name so in those cases its obvious. Like I said earlier it also ruins a scene later that is extremely important since fans deeply care about those two characters relationship.
Either way it is extremely shit tier quality wise as far as translating anime goes. Haven't seen much shit like this since VHS was the norm to watch shit on. So yes when I pay for the goddamn blu-rays of an old anime I expect the translation to be fucking decent and not worse than some speed sub from 20 years ago.
Jack Hughes
It changes systems and mechanics to be more in line with those in 4, so there's less dumb bullshit and terrible maps around. Adds more cute and funny, alongside a catgirl, and more post-content bullshit together with all the DLC originally on the PS3 version (and jesus christ there's a fuckload of it) 4 is still more refined as a game, but 3's Vita version is honestly passable
Brandon Clark
>Nintendo has no interest in a niche company for niche franchises, user. Don't even dream user, they bought the people that made Baten Kaitos, Soma Bringer and Xenosaga.
I like the art for the princess guide but I cannot get behind the constant jumping they do when talking
Jeremiah Gomez
I'll give you Soma Bringer, but Baten Kaitos and Xenosaga aren't niche games.
Camden Robinson
Damnit, at the very easy I wanted the witch and the hundred Knight games to come to pc. Oh well
Brody Cruz
Mobile. Not even once.
Juan Torres
And brought back Bayonetta. Contrary to what lot of people seem to think, Bayonetta 1 was not a successful game.
Mason King
Oh no who will make our super grindy basic ass strategy RPGs that are the same fucking game over a decade over a decade over again now
Jason Reyes
I could see Disgaea having a place on Nintendo hardware. 5 did really well on Switch.
Jose Jones
That's what makes it good though user
Adrian Gomez
Good. Fuck them for making us put up with NISA.
Gabriel Garcia
They would have been dead regardless, but at least they might have gone out with some decency and the company name wouldn't look like a stain on their resume. Now people will never want to be associated with it. It just makes everyone look like idiots.
Brandon Jones
I wasn’t expecting much when I bought this game, but I was still disappointed. The whole “praise / scold” mechanic was implemented terribly, and seems like a gimmick they tacked on for marketing’s sake. If it was $20.00 I might forgive them, but $40.00 for this shovelware is too much. The only praiseworthy thing about this game is its art.
What other games did they make than Disagea? Didn't the make labyrinth of refrain as well? Wasnt a new coming out in Japan soon? Does this mean NISA will go under and Marvelous will get Ys and Cold Steel back?
I wish Square would make FFTactics the same game for over a decade T_T
Tyler Bennett
This really. I had blast playing D4 in my Vita. Didn't get D5 for the switch mostly because I put alot of hours on the PS4 version and a part of me doesn't want to go through all of that all over again
Aiden Morgan
>Tactics Ogre Soulless, low energy, slow as fuck and anti-fun. Reminded me too much of Final Fantasy Tactics and I absolutely despise that game as well. In contrast, Disgaea is everything a SRPG shoudl be. You just have shitty taste.
Isaac Reyes
Good, Disgaea was a cringe weeb pedophile game anyway.
It'd be interesting to see Idea Factory buy them out.
Brody White
>make shitty phone games and shovelware >Die Some of their games were good but that was all in the past.
Owen Wood
Tactics ogre was based af It took a while to get its bearings, absolutely slow and boring and FFT-like for the first big chunk. But it really came into its own toward the end and its post-game was amazing
John Allen
how the fuck does CH/IF stay afloat anyways? otomebucks?
Isaac Hall
Hopefully CH is next.
Ryder Johnson
Disgaea hasn't been good since 2. Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom are better
I love disgaea but god dammit, the developer as a whole has been striking out over and over again for the past few years. Labyrinth of refain was the first truly good standalone rpg they've dropped outside of a couple of the etrian Odyssey.
Aaron Parker
>disgaea >disgaea port >disgaea port >disgaea port >disgaea port
Is anyone really surprised
Zachary Bennett
Seemed to be that aside from the main characters all the Disgae games were mostly the same, even down to identical unit sprites
Ryder Sanders
fuck, that hurts.
Kayden Moore
>low energy The animations in TO are so brief for a reason. If you play Disgaea and don't turn off animations after the first 10 hours then you've legitimately just got brain issues. TO on PSP isn't slow, anyways. You sound like the kind of casual retard that realized he couldn't grind his way to victory earlygame and the first retard filter, the necromancer, literally raped his ass endlessly until he gave up and went back to crying about Phantom Brave Portable and La Pucelle Ragnarok never being playable in english as he reincarnated his loli mage in D2 for the 30th time
Blake Hill
ugly cat
Julian Brown
i loved that game but how do you even finish all that post game stuff without getting tired? i remember dropping this game on floor ~20 of the potd
Liam Hill
>what other games
HAHAHAHA, the absolute state of nippon ichi. They just released like 8 games and no one knows about any of them.
if i play or watch anything set in japan, even if it's fucking dubbed, i don't expect them to talk like westerners NISA shill.
Henry Wright
user you're in a disgaea thread
Ethan Fisher
Despite all the bitching NISA managed to make decent money for them moving collector's editions and anime. How does one mismanage a company this badly? They could do yearly rehashes of Disgaea and still profite. Koei abuses Dynasty Warriors to no end and it STILL sells.
>Does this mean NISA will go under No, they were already pretty much separate from their parent company and can form their own shit with a different name. Watch in the coming week for them to announce their company name change. This was already part of the reason for their massive acquiring of more things to translate.
Elijah Mitchell
i'm gonna buy nis make etna into a softer character on the inside and make flonne be sexually aggressive against etna but in her own happy love love fashion and make etna all nervous about it because she doesn't want to seem as vulnerable as she truly is and laharl will just be a comic relief character everything else would be adjusted accordingly i wouldn't care who it pisses off either, i take delight in angering self-inserties
Gabriel Edwards
They just do. Remember they're making the Azur Lane game. They have to be doing something right to get those kinds of deals You're going to be waiting a long, LONG time
NISA was their only consistently profitable branch. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they just rebrand themselves and continue business as usual.
Dylan Flores
Their most recent hits are are Yowamari series and Refrain. The platforming ones like htol#NiQ, Roze and Liar Princess did okay. The rest were terrible.
Refrain in particular was probably one of their better works and one of the best DRPG I ever played, but it didn't work overseas sadly.
Alexander Bennett
Labyrinth of Refrain had a sequel coming out called Labyrinth of Galleria. I wonder if it is being cancelled.
I studied 11 hours today, I read the internet for a bit and THIS is what I find? everything I love likes to die, fuck me
Chase Sanchez
It got delayed to next year. I'd say flip a coin and hope for the best.
Austin Scott
Good ass games but poor sales. They had a game come out last month and the month before that, and I bet none of Yea Forums knows what those games are. That's how bad Nippon Ichi marketing is.
William Thompson
That's why we need it more than ever.
Josiah Miller
CH unlike N1 has never ever reported a negative in the past.
Evan Wright
They're savvy as hell. Say what you want about their games, but they do sell well enough to be profitable. And CH/IF knows just how much money to put into them and who to sell them to in order to keep them profitable. You're never gonna see them sink fifty million dollars into a AAA Neptunia game aimed at the mainstream crowd.
Bentley Flores
Was N1 always this incompetent?
Nathaniel Hernandez
You may not like their games, but Compile Heart knows their business. If otaku suddenly stopped buying JRPGs with cute anime girls tomorrow, I have no doubt in my mind that CH would put out a game capitalizing on the next niche trend the day after.
Disgaea and N1 hold a huge amount of nostalgia to me and it's sad to see this happen. Harada has been one of my favorite artists and huge influence on my own art as well. I've always loved Tenpei Sato's music for these games. Harada and him are essential for N1's identity to me. N1 hasn't been making as good of games lately but I still don't want them to die. They're obviously not the same company any more since that earlier fiasco but it's still sad nonetheless.
Not really. They were already struggling after the release of 3. Not only were people complaining about the lack of quality, there was blow back from them saying no to a PS2 port and PSP port and instead pushing hard for the VITA, even when the game looked like shit and nothing technical about it that couldn't have been done on lesser hardware.
For being a niche of niche with a genre that people would normally take what they can get. NIS had fans that were smart and didn't buy shit from them just because. Broken promises made them jaded and every release sold less and less. Combined with NIS just being idiots and throwing more money then needed into various other projects and new failed IP, like Phantom Brave and Makai and all of their shit dried up. Koei managed it because beat em ups were much less niche then what NIS was pushing and ever release at least looked like it was trying and they had other games to fall back on. Also helped to be acquired by Tecmo later.
Isaiah Walker
Good business strategy like NISA.
Carson Nelson
Honestly, I think they could do well with Disgaea if they were to obtain it.
Mason Ortiz
There are different reasons to hate NISA.
Chase Nelson
Yes, actually. There was a huge scandal around the release of Disgaea 5 where a huge chunk of their staff jumped ship to Compile Heart because NIS had gone several months without paying anyone. They just couldn't hold on to any of their profits.
Actually, yes. Since they got new management, I'm guessing. Honestly they were set for a rebound just from Refrain alone, that game was a pretty big hit. It's just a shame management probably fucked up hard, maybe intentionally.
Tyler Cox
Darn.
I wanted another soul nomad
Dylan Hill
ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS STOP RELEASING 15 GAMES A YEAR.
Matthew Adams
Sounds great. Make some new unit models while your at it.
The irony is odds are CH will now buy out NIS in an act of revenge.
Eli Turner
>It is for the best. Disgaea peaked with Disgaea 5, anyway. Now it can only go downhill Every Disgaea is better than the last, only the story gets worse
Chase Fisher
If they released one game every 3 or 4 years they would be in deeper shit. They technically do regardless since it's only one in 10 of the games they put out that actually sells well/is well received.
Ryder Watson
Sounds like embezzlement considering a lot of what they put out recently looks like it was made on a shoestring budget.
Makai Kingdom, Soul Nomad, and ZHP were the best things to ever come from the company.
Robert Kelly
This tends to be true for all but 4. There's something about 4 that just makes it arguably better than 5 in every aspect, even gameplay and most definitely replayability.
Sebastian Taylor
YES! Disgaea 2 had multiple bugs that had a possibility of breaking your game. Disgaea 3 wasn't anymore substantial then 2, but they claimed that it just wasn't possible to do on lesser hardware. Disgaea 4 they had to do all of their art assets from scratch because of HD, but never updated the backgrounds to match and then also claimed that this venture was their most expensive thing to date. They constantly hand off ports to third parties that have already been shown they couldn't be trusted with that shit and introduced more game breaking bugs somehow. The entire company was ran by idiots.
Dominic Ortiz
They are too spread out and have over 300 employees. If they make less games, they can reduce the employee count to below 50 and a single disgaea success is enough to cover everyones salary. But no, 300+ employees..
Benjamin Nguyen
>Disgaea 5 It was during D2
Ayden Gray
Damn, that mobile game really killed them? What the fuck
It's not even the game's fault. The game was only up for like 10 minutes and went down on maintenance, only a few people barely were able to try it. They said too much people tried to access it and blamed overseas for the extra load. They tried again a few days later after taking measures but same thing happened, then said they'll work on the game and open the servers 3 months later. Now you're here.
Justin Cook
So they just never launched it?
Robert Wood
Now that disgaea is over, does everyone agree that Flonne X Laharl is the OTP? Nothing more POTTERIC that love between the future Seraph and the Tyrant Overlord
Mason Rodriguez
Pretty much. Game was only up for a tiny window. Their own incompetence ruined everything.
Cameron Myers
That was just them being too overly ambitious and not knowing how to handle making an open world. If they had pointers and tried again, it would probably end up better, but still jank. They will eventually get back on track. Just like what happened with DW6 rebooting shit. I was pretty glad with the performance of 8. But what I really want from them right now is a sequel to Hyrule Warriors.
Alexander Gomez
Good, Tenpei Sato and Harada deserve much better.
Nolan Gray
imagine playing strategy RPGs and hating the strategy aspect just play granblue fantasy, it's like a disgaea game that never ends
Grayson Clark
Well I did import Murder Detective though I've yet to start. Will be importing Jinrui too but only if the reviews are good.
Didn't buy Lapis and that horror game though.
N1 has been getting kinda bad rep for the recent games in Japan since a good number of people don't think the contents matches the price. I paid almost 60usd for Liar Princess for example, which is only 10 hrs long.
On the other hand the games are decent at least. I like that they are trying to put out new ideas, the other companies aren't trying as much. It'd be pretty sad if they do fall.
Refrain is one of the best thing they ever made. Only EO comes close in terms of the quality. Maybe also Dungeon Travelers in a sense.
Parker Flores
So according to wiki, they developed over 129 games. (This is not including games where they were publishers but not developers).
Outside of disgaea/labyrinth, I do not recognize any of those games, what a flop of a company.
Brayden Morales
So no soul nomad remake then?
Joseph Young
Their stocks dropped by doing this, and the stocks funded the game. They dropped so hard they couldn't even afford to fix it anymore.
I don't understand how they had so little money that this even happened. Sounds like someone was mismanaging money or that they should have started firing people awhile back if they were in such a dire situation.
I mean, I don't particularly care whether or not N1 is dying, but posting consistently just to shit on some random chink company I find legitimately odd. Who hurt you, user?
Aaron Moore
>There's something about 4 that just makes it arguably better than 5 in every aspect, even gameplay and most definitely replayability. Incorrect. You might have a case for the post-game content, but gameplay-wise Disgaea 5 is far superior to Disgaea 4 in almost every aspect. Besides, it helps that the story isn't as cringeworthy although not by much.
Anthony Ross
then who was responsible for making a gacha game on the vita and rebirth 1+? go away I'm sure their horror games were talked about rather often when they were still new and Criminal Girls but eh...
Luis Diaz
They were most likely just like Telltale, living off investor's money and when they pulled out, their own coffers were completely empty.
David Turner
Rhapsody La Pucelle Tactics Phantom Brave Makai Kingdom Soul Nomad and The World Eaters Z.H.P. Print
Do yourself a favor and check those out.
I personally thought Guided Fate Paradox, Criminal Girls, Witch and the Hundred Knight, and Disgaea Infinite were pretty bad.
Jason Bell
What the fuck am I reading? Are you on drugs, bro?
Josiah Carter
Play Bastard Bonds, it's a 2D SRPG
Lucas Hughes
Refrain had bad game-play but I want to see what they do with Galleria. I like the main girls design a lot better this time but I hope they tone down the dark atmosphere of the game a bit. Either way, they game-play needs to be improved a ton. There's very little depth. I really hope this doesn't get canceled and they survive somehow.
SRW will be the last one standing, and it's a shadown of its former self.
Liam Reyes
I've never forgiven NISA for fucking up AT2, fuck them. Thank god for the retranslation.
Parker Murphy
I got triggered when he talked about Lagarl being just comic-relief, since NIS did the exact same thing.
Jaxon Howard
It had good gameplay, the game looks exactly the same as refrain, sounds like you don't like dungeon crawlers user
Landon White
Prinny.
Robert Robinson
They were behind on payments to their employees multiple times over the companies lifetime. Starting with D3, but then most of the old guard left and got swallowed up by IF or CH. This kept happening off and on, with more employees threatening to leave and NIS making statements that they didn't know if there would even be another Disgaea. When DD2 was releasing, they were again behind on payments to their employees and I'm sure the profit from D5 was just barely enough to pay all 300 of them.
Joshua Morgan
You can tell he has bad taste, considering he thinks Eureka looks better.
Michael Morales
I blame Bamco sticking their fingers in it more and more. They probably wanted them to casualize it, while also trying to keep the visuals as simple as possible. Back to consoles and still using 2d maps and sprite heads instead of models. I mean seriously.
Landon Kelly
ok, but Disgaea 3 PC when?
Ethan Cooper
If it doesn't have anime graphics it's not a SRPG.
Levi Scott
>no Soul Nomad sequel or remaster >no new GrimGrimoire since NIS has the rights of the IP, not Vanillaware Fuck
Aaron Scott
Not embezzlement, just frivolous spending on retarded shit like mobile games.
Easton Butler
Mobile games are where its at money wise, they just fucked up really hard.
Carter Robinson
It really didn't though. There was zero customization and normal attacks just mowed everything down most of the time. I'm an EO fan by the way. Refrain has a decent foundation but it needs a lot of work. There's no personality to the facets whatsoever. You have a few passives and that's it. All the donum are tied to the coven which is retarded. There's few decisions to make an no way to build your characters. It's way to restrictive and stiff. Trust me, it needs a ton of work and a lot more depth.
Robert Foster
So like can the games still be for sale if the company doesn't exist any more?
Benjamin Martinez
Mobile games make a lot of money IF THEY SUCCEED, they can also kill your company if they fail. Mobile games are only free money if they manage to draw in a big crowd like FGO or GBF.
James Reyes
>sounds like you don't like dungeon crawlers user But Dungeon Crawlers have always been about heavy party/ skill customisation, go try out Elminage or Wizardry.
Chase Sanchez
You're too used to EO type of complex system and very fine tuned balance, but DRPGs can well work with simpler mechanics too.
Wizardry and Elminage series (or EXP's games) are much simpler than Refrain's, but people are happy with those. Refrain is following more closely to this line of design.
Julian Nelson
i'm on the drug of love
Charles Miller
If the next game isn't OG3 I'm killing myself.
Aaron Powell
I can't tell with the back and forth. Should I play refrain?
Gabriel Flores
Watch a youtube video and decide for yourself.
Henry Cooper
Elminage and Wizardry actually has pretty little customization after the initial party creation.
For Elminage Original my party is virtually unchanged for the main story. That's maybe 50+ hrs. It's only when I had difficulty beating the Gods that I started to make some class changes.
Besides, Refrain is actually similar to these two in design. In particular the skill transfer is present in both Elminage and Refrain when you change class.
Jaxon Watson
It has a demo, at least in Nintendo eshop.
Nathan Martin
It was a story heavy game and that plus Harada's art is what kept me playing. The combat was far too simple but would greatly benefit from unique donum for each facet and yes, a skill tree of some sort. I'm not against games being their own thing so I'm okay with it not being exactly like EO, but it still needs work. I need something to look forward to as I level. I need someway to shape my coven into roles and have control over their abilities. Normal encounters were far too easy and only bosses required a tiny bit of strategy.
Ayden Butler
I really had no idea who these people were but i picked up Labyrinth of Refrain on Steam a bit ago and i'm actually pretty impressed. It's not super fancy or anything, but it's competent. More than I had expected, at any rate. Sad to see them go. Oh well. Never played any Disgaea
Levi Cook
So who takes Disgaea now? that franchise at least still has some money making power did my boy Adell finally fuck tsundere big tits?
Wyatt Ramirez
Who cares, they made creepy loli fanservice games anyway.
Cooper Wright
>that franchise at least still has some money making power did my boy Adell finally fuck tsundere big tits? They act like a married couple and both want to support each other with money in Disgaea 5. What do you think?
Owen White
Can ya'll list some drpg off the top of your heads like Refrain or Stranger of sword City? I've played grimrocks, all wizardries, sosc, labyrinth, and am kinda looking for more in the vein of stranger of sword city, i really liked it.
I've thought about trying EO but isn't it handheld only? fucking hate handhelds. i have big hands, its not comfortable to play prolonged sessions
Evan Perry
It's pretty good. If you're a complete fag you'll cry about how dark the game is, but otherwise the heavy atmosphere and the artwork alone are enough to legitimately enjoy the game up until the end. It does lack a bit in depth, but if you're not an absolute autist and by chance Refrain happens to be your first DRPG you'll have enough fun with it. Just treat it as an autobattle looter with occasional challenging boss fights put within a pretty good VN and you'll do fine.
Landon Parker
Google is the best DRPG I've ever played.
Gabriel Richardson
>zero customization
This is dishonest and just jerking off EO. I tried 3 different EO games, and quit all of them within the first few hours. Meanwhile I have over 40 hours on labyrinth of refrain. What you call customization, I call monotonous micromanaging.
People with the autism for EO are going to be put off by Labyrinth of Refrain. And people who want to play a GAME instead of an autism simulator, will play Labyrinth of refrain.
You have to draw maps in Etrian Odyssey and that goes to show what kind of audience it caters to. (people with disabilities)
My man. Also, do they keep acknowledging Laharl's loli sister or pretend she doesn't exist after D2? I don't know her at all other than she's half demon and half angel
Christian Ramirez
>dont discuss bideo on my v or ask for suggestions based retard
Noah Peterson
so if they go under will we see the guys who worked on hundred knight and labyrinth work on stuff again or are they dead in the water
Well I guess nothing wrong with not liking this style or thinking it's too simple.
However I think it's very unlikely to change in that aspect. The design philosophy is different right at the start.
If you liked SoSC then you can try Experience's other ones. Tokyo Abyss and Babel are on Steam I think? There's also an Elminage game on Steam. Another Wizardry is getting ported to PC soon. They also ported Demong Gaze 2 to PS4, it's decent.
Many of these are on handhelds yeah since that's where they sell. Dungeon Travelers is another great series on it. The Atlus ones like Strange Journey are good too.
Joshua Rodriguez
Sicily is still around in D5, though all of the cameo characters are relegated to DLC and don't factor into the plot.
Jose Rodriguez
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it gets saved by one of the other JRPG niche companies... or Sega.
James Allen
EVERY DRPG is hit or miss unfortunately. I loved Zanki Zero, Refrain and stranger of sword city. You might actually not like Zanki Zero though, it's hit or miss. That game prioritizes story over everything else though. The story is like a visual novel, and has a dark atmosphere and isn't really a happy game. It doesn't have class customization, but you still level your skills in ways you want, and specialize in certain weapons. Watch a youtube video of the first chapter to see if it interests you
Hunter Clark
Dungeon Travelers 2-2 is one of god's few holy gifts upon mankind, brought into the material realm by the blood and tears of his most beloved and spiritually pure apostles. The Dark Spire is another.
What went wrong? How did they not make money? Their games are crazy cheap to produce and pander to a built in anime otaku audience.
Arcsys remade the same 2 niche fighting games for like 10 years and now they're stronger than ever.
Thomas Bell
Which version of Disgaea 1 is the best?
Noah Garcia
Zanki Zero is awesome, I hope they continue using and improving the system.
Real time + grid based is so rare in Japan. I can't actually think of another one that's made in recent years.
Jackson Kelly
They overproduced. They make 1 hit for every 10 flops
Nolan Howard
>I am a piece of shut who think a company deserves to go bankrupt for trying to make a mobage to stay alive Why are console fuckers such piece of shit?
Hudson Barnes
For every successful weeb game they made they also made 10 unmarketed and overpriced games nobody played.
Joshua Barnes
I like Sicily, actually. She is funny around Laharl and the idea of how she was born was intriguing enough of an idea. Also, she could serve as drama material once Baal kills her like she killed Laharl's father.
Parker Rivera
The recent Complete release is the best one overall, but not enough of a jump over the Afternoon of Darkness PC port to justify the gap in price. It's up to you whether you value fancier sprites or a lower price.
Jayden Sanders
>Zanki Zero Honestly didn't care for it. The game constantly beats on you for merely existing, and then all he needs just add annoyance on top of that. Quasi-realtime combat was a buzzkill for me with how awkward aiming was for part based damage. Having everyone's age go out of sync makes hitting events annoying if you need two or more characters in the same life stage. There's a good game in there somewhere but in it's current state, it is painfully janky.
All their games are cheap to make shovelware, so they don't have to sell many copies. There's enough ironic weebs to keep them afloat.
Adam Watson
Yes, buy the steam version since around 50% goes to nippon Icchi by steam rules.
Jeremiah Fisher
I think they were breaking even for a long time with each game but they figured gacha games would be easy and free money so they double-downed, but fucked it up by allowing everyone to get the rare and strongest units right at the beginning, removing any incentive to actually play the gacha.
Jaxson Fisher
oh, good to know Sega barely has money as is, they can't take on owning a new IP unless nippon itch sells it for pennies
Justin Stewart
those are the things that made it good user
Alexander Thomas
The failure of the Disgaea mobile game was the fault of ForwardWorks, Sony's mobile gaming studio and the ones who developed this with NIS. In a way Sony killed Disgaea with sheer incompetence.
How is Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls? It's coming to Steam in like a week as a remaster of the ps3 version.
Bentley Howard
Kys manchild.
Caleb Adams
Can SEGA just buy them like they did with atlus? they basically do the same kind of weeb games with demons, only thing is nis is way more cartoony about it
how do you fuck over a shitty company with 5 employees so cynical and self aware they made their own company mascot in their only popular franchise the worst girl?
>Niikawa says that he personally considered jumping on the bandwagon with smartphone game development to be risky, and that while getting people to download the game with advertising and word of mouth close to the release would be relatively easy, having people to actually stay and play the game relies on how good the game itself is, meaning that at the core it would be no different from console games. He thus thought that there would be no need to put what they already have aside to jump at smartphone games, but at the same time he also felt that they might need the know-how regarding smartphone game development eventually and that it would be bad if they didn’t have it when they needed it, and so they developed Makai Wars as a way to obtain knowledge regarding smartphone game development with their own existing IPs.
Parker Diaz
A fate worse than death
Gavin Lopez
Nintendo is not going to hire a company that blames overseas log ins for making their game have server issues
Oliver Flores
That would be purely awesome
Owen Long
It's time for Cygames to acquire NIS.
Leo Bell
eh somehow rune 5 is being made, so don't worry disgaea is way more popular than that
Gavin Mitchell
I want Priere in that magical 2d-looking 3d
Jaxon Williams
It would had been better if they removed all the lewd shit for monsters.
Gavin Fisher
Why would i want this trash company to take disgaea hostage and give etna pants? Get fucked.
Ethan Long
Real fucking shame we'll never get it in English
Robert Cox
Nintendo wouldn't give Etna pants.
Wyatt Gutierrez
Yes they would. And they would take all their franchise hostage. The same as the series dying.
Robert Parker
I guarantee you that it wasn't incompetence either. They planned this. Sony didn't like NIS for a long time and with the move to California, didn't like the air surrounding the company. Lolis that were barely clothed and impossibly big boobed women with sexually charged art throughout every game. But they couldn't deny them a platform like Pqube and NIS was starting to put stuff on PC and Switch anyway. So when they came to them with the mobile game and knew it was a desperate 'last chance' thing. They knew they could kill them if they fucked it up enough. Sony will use it to virtue signal that this is the fate of those 'pedo games'.
Joshua Lopez
We’ll start liking EA and lootboxes we need you death powers
Ayden Scott
>releasing the same game over and over >costumers get tired at some point >"OH SHIT WHY IT'S HAPPENING" Yep, they deserved it
Dylan Moore
You mean Snoy California?
Juan Nguyen
Actually, the problem wasn't that Disgaea fans got sick of the series. If anything, the fanbase is stronger than ever thanks to the Switch and PC ports. The problem is that NIS kept sinking all their profits into dozens of trashy games that no one cared about and had no advertising at all, with only a few of them being worth a passing glance.
Kayden Kelly
Dude are you retarded?
Isaac Lopez
Disgaea and their dungeon crawlers were all successful, they had very diverse catalog of games but you would not know because most of everything they made was unmarketed and bombed.
Colton Garcia
They made that Coven of Dusk game, right? I liked that one. What other dungeon crawlers in that vein did they make?
Lucas Murphy
You both are. Nintendo and Sony are two sides of the same censorship enabling coin. Any franchise that belongs to them is as good as dead.
Isaiah Sanders
They're both shitty possible owners. If anyone should get nis, it'd be Idea factory because that means games would still be multiplat.
Dylan Ross
ASAGI GAME WHEN
Kayden Taylor
Nintendo wouldn't censor shit for Disgaea. Even Takaki from Marvelous mentioned they had no problems with it and were just focused on the gameplay being appealing enough to gain an audience. And today they're even less hands on than before.
Brandon Lee
N1 is literally the most adventurous company in Japan. That's why they are dying now since those failed.
Not enough. Go buy a few copies on steam. Or import new from amazon japan/etc.
Dylan Cook
It did. The fifteen titles you never heard of tanked horribly, though.
Matthew Wood
But would Idea Factory be able to afford developing NIS games alongside their own games? It'd lower the output overall. I can only really imagine SEGA or Nintendo doing it justice. At the worst possible stretch, maybe Square Enix.
Ryan Campbell
No they shouldn't. Fuck you.
Cameron Richardson
>bug man site That sure is helpful.
Justin Sanders
>shilling for NIS Begone, NIShill.
Anthony Ward
>this mad as fuck snoyfag shouting that nintendo would censor
Yes they should, imagine all those IP under Nintendo Quality control. It would have been glorious, Instead we're forced to live in this inferior timeline. Fuck you.
Ryan Rogers
Didn't they already hire the Disgaea team when the left after 4?
Jaxson Garcia
>THIS SOURCE ISN'T OFFICIAL, MUST BE FAKE >okay here's a real source >THIS IS IN JAPANESE, DOESN'T COUNT what do you want
Caleb Rogers
>I AM CRAZY Retard.
Benjamin Sanchez
>wanting nis to die
Zachary Kelly
Nintendo stopped corporate censorship though, only censor issues are with ratings boards these days. I've read (and it might be bullshit) that Nintendo of Japan told Nintendo of America to stop it because they outsource most of localizing and changes to graphics and dialogue outside translations cost more money than it's worth.
William Barnes
Some of them. Since Disgaea 5 turned out as good as it did, I can't imagine that they got as many of the senior staff as it looked like at the time, though.
David Flores
Just kill yourself nintendodrone. I want to be able to play the games.
Aiden Kelly
>Proving you're just a butthurt console warrior Sad, enjoy your censored games.
Zachary Butler
Is that seriously what they believed? That's funny as hell if so.
Connor Ramirez
How does one lack such a reading comprehension. I assume you don't speak english and you're using google translate. The reason they're dying is the OPPOSITE of what you said. It's because they keep trying to make different games, that they tank. Only the same games kept them alive this long. I really hate how dumb Yea Forums is
Levi Bell
They're already dead from haemorrhaging so much money, I wouldn't give money to a company with such frivolous finances knowing that it'd be wasted.
Aaron Sanchez
They have a sequel of it coming out that may or may not be cancelled
Dylan Stewart
This is what happens when you put fan-service before fun gameplay.
Tyler Ramirez
Disagea series were really bad, so its no surprise such an incompetent team goes bakrupt.
Jordan Ward
All NIS games they actually marketed sold pretty well, this is what happens when they release 9000 games a year and may promote one or two.
Lincoln Roberts
Oh. Well, if it's anything like the other games they made it'd probably be more of the same without any additions to gameplay.
Luis Powell
Why are you namefagging
Michael Murphy
based
Luis Watson
Yes but only in Japan and only for Vita.
Eli Lewis
>namefag >retarded Checks out
Jaxson King
They make really cheap games and have a dedicated fanbase that will buy it all up to cover cost easily, no matter how bad it is.
Dylan Robinson
Good riddance
Parker Lopez
Not that they've done anything with it but we'll lose Marl Kingdom because of their stupidity. Fuck that.
Why her hips are so big? Is she supposed to breed at some point in the story?
Kayden Kelly
This makes me really depressed, I really love Etna, and I hate seeing the company that produces new content for her go down. I also love NIS' games other than Disgaea, and would hate to see them go.
Jayden Thompson
They need to go. They need to die so the pureness of their franchises will be preserved. Say no to zombie franchises.
NIS, ACCEPT YOUR DEATH.
Jordan Anderson
It already has. It's been delayed.
Brayden Johnson
Hang yourself snoyboi
Chase Smith
NIS dying is not Sony winning.
Jordan Rogers
Wasn't their games one of the only reasons to get a playstation? They almost completely lost their exclusive anime market.
Bentley Rodriguez
Sony doesn't want anime games. If NIS weren't already dying, Sony would probably kill them.
Wyatt Lopez
Do you know the one publish mobile game which make them bankrupt is Sony subsidiary mobile division?
Aiden Morales
>"It's official, they are out of business" >Actual source says "Facing financial issues according to someone on Twitter" Stop. You're not writing for Kotaku. Fuck off.
Robert Ramirez
>2D SRPGS won't exist anymore.
C'mon Yea Forums, where's your Super Robot Spirit?
> Disgaea Mobile Publisher - SONY FORWARDWORKS Kill yourself Faggot tranny
Colton Harris
Sony technically killed them. Did you read the article about this yet? The mobile game was outsourced to a sony division and the reason the game shut down was because their shit wasn't working. So sony killed them personally
Kevin Wright
Sony only care about AAA western games and Japans absolute biggest publishers biggest games on PS4.
NIS was just dumb enough to think supporting the vita long after Sony stopped goving a crap was a sustainable model.
>nis somehow survives >animosity towards sony killing their mobile ends with nis no longer releasing their games on playstation >nintendo and pc exclusive going forward >sony winning
Huh? This is fucking stupid. The reason why they were in hot water, was because investors pulled out due to their experimenting with unknown land wasn't working out.
So their solution is to rely on investors again, so that they end up with experimenting on ANOTHER NEW IP?
Carter Murphy
Damn I'm gonna be pissed if Rerain's sequel gets canceled
I'm fine with it either way. The satisfaction of turning Alice into a maggot and killing him was great, and I doubt the sequel would give me that same satisfaction.
Whats that? Sardines? Muh dreams? Fucking chara world in its worst incarnation? Some of the most annoying and tedious puzzles in the series? Yeah nah fuck off, 4 is trash. 2 and 5 are the peak of the series
Xavier Watson
NiS fucking sucks. Their writing is abysmal and their "games" are as fun as eating chalk. A waste of good character designs and animations.
Connor Morales
>2D SRPG's won't exist anymore. Disgaea was fucking boring, and there was no strategy involved. It's a literal time sink grinding simulator
William Richardson
>Sony was so incompetent that their mobile division literally couldn't make a working game and it ruined NIS who gave Sony their money
That's what you get for rushing out a gacha shit game witout testing the servers.
Aiden Ortiz
>past good >novelty bad
Hunter Green
I feel fucking sad to see another AA studios biting the dust. Especially after delivering Labyrinth of Refrain which is wayyyyyy better than anything experience inc can produce.
Is Disgaea 1 on PS4 any good? Bought it but never played it
Wyatt Morgan
NIS has been mostly shit since Gen 7 started, so it's not a big loss.
Samuel Rodriguez
>start game doing 1 damage, 2 if you time your hits right >endgame has you doing 100,000,000 per attack
Evan Moore
I mean is everyone really going to mourn for Nippon Ichi? Their shit was amazing in the PS2/PSP era but they have been rehashing the same 2 games for the past 20 years.
The only thing they still excel at is art and that's off the back of a single man.
>It wouldn't shock me if they managed to pick up the pieces from NIS and hold their IPs hostage with Falcom basically being the holder to coincide with Japanese law. >no japanese company wants to pick up the Disgaea IP because then they'd have to deal with NISA fuuuuuck
David Reyes
That's just Japan in general. Fuckers never throw out old code from their games if they can ever help it.
>Fell Seal is actually a better game than 99% of SRPG's, but because it doesn't have good anime art, no one cares about it. >No fucking joke, if the game had the same artist as Tactics Ogre or Disgaea, it'd sell than them.
Fell Seal is just an uninspired rehash of FFT. It doesn't do anything new to evolve the combat of that game.
>Soulless You didn't even know what fucking game LUCT was, shut the fuck up you poser.
Jordan Taylor
IT'S IMAGE EPOCH ALL OVER AGAIN
Evan Lewis
It's for the best, really.
Guided Fate paradox was the same style of game/spiritual sequel but with angel waifus, and then THAT got a sequel except they didn't want to bother doing Disgaea style sprites so you get this really ugly ass fucking chibi shit
It was good for the first two levels, and it has ENDLESS GRIND/CUSTOMIZATION, so it MUST be good! It's kinda shit after like, level 3 or so.
NIS's best game will always be Soul Nomad.
Jeremiah Gutierrez
Does this mean i should grab the diseaga 5 on steam before it will vanish forever?
Or are existing games safe?
Justin Smith
The actual problem isn't just Disgaea. This mobile game just was the last straw. They attempt to launch many new franchises, generally having 10+ games each year and they were all failures. More recently some of their games debuted outside of the top 20 charts.
They wanted new franchises to make up for Disgaea's low Japanese numbers, but their new franchises just did even worse there. Then they went back to Disgaea with this mobile RPG (using recycled assets) and then we got this situation anyway.
William Morgan
>Soul Nomad never got a port
Guess that's what it gets for not having loli waifushit
Disgaea RPG wasn't a big project in the first place. It was just another way to reuse their Disgaea sprites. It's just that their situation was already bad even before it.
Gabriel Clark
maybe they should have just made Disgaea 6 instead of porting 5 with no new content and remaking 1 except not remaking anything at all so it's actually just as slow and boring as the original was, why even play the new one if it's no different from the original?
Kayden Bennett
I played both of the Paradox games and they were simply not as charming as ZHP. I was pretty disappointed, since I loved ZHP.
Zachary Torres
>2D SRPG's won't exist anymore. Thanks God. Worst rpg genre.
Leo Long
>I played awakened fate ultishitum I'm so sorry
Justin Ortiz
Shiny graphics.
Joseph Gutierrez
>no more 1,000 yo demon
Alexander Adams
I mean, considering how they replaced some monsters in Disgaea 1 just to avoid having to draw new HD sprites, it's pretty clear the game had few resources given to it. What they should have done is stopping all these new franchises that obviously have low appeal and focus on Disgaea.
Michael Davis
Disgaea 1 could have benefited from a proper remake, updating the battle system to modern ones and shit. instead we still have:
>Monsters worthless >Anything except swords worthless >Anything except Majins worthless >Low aptitudes across the board (Majins were peak with 120% aptitudes, while 120% is kind of just okay in later games) >Unique characters were ultimately worse because they had static 100% aptitudes and no S proficiency in any weapons >Captain Gordon's new sprite is ugly as shit >update some old classes to new sprites like Striders and gen 1 Majins, but replace others with existing sprites for less effort (Galactic demons were replaced with Rifle demons)
Joseph Fisher
>Marjoly's thong doesn't vanish up her asscheeks anymore No HD sprite is worth this.
Coven has an amazing story/ characters and pretty decent dungeon crawling/ gameplay. I'd definitely recommend it if you enjoy darker settings and dungeon crawlers.
D5 really depends on you. It's very very different from the other Disgaea games. The story is really generic and played completely straight instead of being a charicature/ parody of popular tropes and storywriting like the other games and the characters all incredibly one dimensional. Gameplay wise it's solid, but it reworked pretty much all the usual Disgaea systems and mechanics from the ground up, streamlining and simplifying them all. You either love that if you slowly got fed up with the more and more complicated mechanics the series developed over the years, or hate it because it removes a lot of options and no longer requires you to really know what you are doing since you will make steady progress no matter how you approach the game.
That was announced a while ago. Labyrinth of Galleria. Granted it will probably take half a decade before we get it in English, if at all.
Parker Ortiz
If Galleria gets canceled Im gonna fucken kill myself
Tyler Gutierrez
>Niche Reddit.
Jason Kelly
B-but they said Disgaea 6 was in development... i don't want NIS to die bros ;-; Have they really fucked up?
Colton Phillips
so serious question are their games actually FUN to play?
Ryder Moore
it's called emulation
Kayden Lewis
Yes, if you don't do post-game. Because post-game is just stat check after stat check.
Jeremiah Turner
Play these
Samuel King
>Witch and the Hundred Knight >pretty bad wow
Jack Foster
which ones are good? dont want to waste time on the boring ones please
Aaron Adams
All are good, form your own opinions.
Logan Butler
only on pc since its the only thing i've got
Henry Robinson
Just play what sounds fun to you. You'd have a pretty hard time finding a NIS game that is unconditonally bad and doesn't have at least some things going for it, even the ones with kind of lackluster gameplay generally have amazing stories and likeable characters.
Aiden Morgan
General consensus is Disgaea 3 is the weakest entry, but that doesn't necessarily mean you should outright skip it. Just play the games and see for yourself.
because those ratings are usually story character wise. Mechanically 5 is better. But that's about it. For the rest - people are divided.
Zachary Diaz
D5 has by far the best gameplay in the series. People just don't like the story in it, because it takes itself too seriously, that's all.
Charles Brooks
this board truly gone to hell
Joseph Perez
good. Disgaea went from a parody of anime/anime games tropes to being the tropes. they have lost their way. I bought 5 at launch. still have not beaten it.
Jace Rivera
Sounds like your problem.
Ian Sullivan
That would be too good to happen. Hopefully a disgruntled employee mad at the IP being sold to an unworthy company leaks them.
Gabriel Jenkins
I had tons of fun with it, but I'm a slut for big numbers
Hunter Kelly
>new disgaea thread hell yeah >it's bunch of idiots who think one shitty mobage will fuck over entire company/publisher big enough as NIS fucking monkey paw, I can have more fun grinding felonies.
>Disgaea went from a parody of anime/anime games tropes You're a moron.
Luke Sullivan
switch was the nail in the coffn
Ethan Wood
>Their mobile game shut down soon after launch and they gained $0 from the service.
The fuck happened there? Did they make a mobile The Culling 2 or what?
Daniel Walker
>Xenosaga >not niche You're a fucking idiot, mate
James Roberts
go replay the first one. it is full of self aware jokes and poking fun at popular tropes.
Easton Moore
Most people who shit on the newer games are storyfags that don't like how the games got "too anime" or some stupid vague bullshit.
4 and 5 are objectively the best in the series, 4 (on Vita) in terms of content and 5 in terms of mechanics. The only reason someone would say they're worse is if they personally dislike the story. Or MAYBE if they dislike the RNG in completionist stuff for 4.
Isaac Collins
Liar Princess was a tad too easy but otherwise yeah. Roze is still the best for me.
Ryan Anderson
Let us be retarded and conveniently forget FGO made more money in 4 years than the entire legend of zelda in 30 years
Colton Myers
>Asagi will never get her game now It's not fair!
Nolan Gomez
>new failed IP, like Phantom Brave and Makai RIP in peace, Zetta. Makai Kingdom was my favourite game in the Disgaea series.
Ethan White
It references things like every self aware show or game does. Disgaea still does that to this day.
Being mildly self aware doesn't mean you're not the thing you're aware of. Which isn't a bad thing at all, mind you. I love what Disgaea is and always has been. But acting like it changed from self aware to not over time is ridiculous.
Gust hopefully is next. I'll never forgive them for shelving Ar Tonelico in favor of those shitty Atelier games. Neptunia and Atelier are the games with the worst gameplay I've ever played, if CH can't go out of business at least Gust should.
Ryder Garcia
I don't understand the "I didn't get what I want so people should lose jobs and other people shouldn't get what they want" mentality.
You lose either way.
Jacob Sanders
>FGO trash I rather stay conveniently retarded than deliberately retarded.
Adam Foster
>Gust hopefully is next Not before I get my Blue Reflection 2!
Jace Ward
>port D5 to switch >don't make a complete version for Sony >try and weasel SNK away from Sony who had good a relationship in favor of Nintendo >start making multiplats instead of exclusive to Sony platforms for their releases >constantly bash Sony publicly for their own failures I'm glad the Sony curse works as well as the trump curse
Evan Carter
what a cocksucking faggot.
Logan Watson
I like some of the neptune series games like VII, but their new one 4GO was kinda boring and stale, there wasen;t much in it and felt like it was their test game or something. Atelier I dropped because their crafting alchemy felt like I was doing E=MC^2 everytime I wanted to craft an item, it was a chore and tedious gathering all those materials and having to think hard to each of the items
Joseph Barnes
>I'd rather live in my bubble than to accept facts Yeah, it's a Nintendofag Sony hater alright.
Samuel Myers
Tactics ogre was boring as fuck until very late into the game where you can start getting the fun classes.
Luis Richardson
don't forget to go kill a kid or two at gamestop tomorrow, it's full of infidels there too.
>Assuming I like Nintrash No I don't like shitbox either. Their asymmetrical controllers are shit.
Luke Reyes
You shouldn't defend companies that exploit their consumers because they employ people. Have you ever seen the amount of DLC that any Atelier game has? That's OK when it's a Japanese company doing it now?
Liam Sanchez
Good, fuck them for what they did to Ys 8
Tyler Gutierrez
Seethe, little nigger.
Daniel Scott
>sega barely has any money they just bought the devs that made two point hospital
Levi Lopez
>Sony hater it's called a normal adult person.
Jaxon Bell
Yeah, they did such a great job after they acquired Double Dragon.
Jace Myers
>it's bunch of idiots who think one shitty mobage will fuck over entire company/publisher big enough as NIS they've been in financial trouble long before this, the mobile game the last ditch effort to save themselves actually
Bentley Torres
Hah, no. I played my first Disgaea game last week and was severely disappointed.
Colton Stewart
the talent left out of nippon ichi anyway. Pretty sure they're under idea factory now.
Oliver Bell
>don't make a complete version for Sony D5 didn't have new content though, you just didn't get a version with all DLC bundled in.
Elijah Carter
Dunno what to tell you then, senpai. Lifting and throwing alone allow Disgaea games to far surpass the strategic complexity of Fire Emblem games, where the most complex tactic you'll ever need is "put a tank just in the enemy's line of fire and whale on them when they inevitably fall for the bait".
