Replaying 999 and VLR made me think again about how retarded ZTD's ending was
So
>The original (2018) nonary game was done in service of free the soul
>The second (2027) nonary game was done in service of Akane's survival
>Akane's survival was done in service of the third (2074) nonary game
>Dio's infiltration and attempted bombing of the third nonary game was ordered by Brother, but ultimately in service of the third nonary game
>The third nonary game was in service of Sigma and Phi's disruption of the (2028) Decision Game
>Sigma and Phi's disruption of the Decision Game was ultimately in service of the Decision game
>The Decision Game was in service of Brother's ideal future
It actually makes less sense looking back on it. The ideal future was not attained in the VLR timeline decision game, so Brother waited 46 years to order his top guy to disrupt Sigma's plan because he knew Sigma's plan relied on him sending his top guy to disrupt his plan and he needed Sigma's plan to succeed so his plan could succeed.
I'm excited to replay ZTD next
Replaying 999 and VLR made me think again about how retarded ZTD's ending was
>"mindhack" was unironically the ultimate ability of espers
Still blows my mind
People stopped understanding what ZTD was going for after like the first week. It's supposed to be a camp fest. They dealt with brother off fucking screen, it was obvious at that point the game was just supposed to be a wild ride.
Why the fuck did ZTD even have Akane and Junpei besides fanservice? VLR was very clearly Junpei/Akane passing the torch to Sigma/Phi, and having as little returning characters from previous/future games as possible probably would've helped separate it from 999/VLR's "everyone's actually involved somehow" shit
They never even revealed who brother was. What a copout
I thought Delta was brother?
The timeline never make sense to me in this game due to the causal loop. With that said, the story telling where you can unravel the mystery by playing through different timeline was a really nice touch. Makes me kinda want to read ever17 while waiting for the writer's next game, but I really don't like the older art style.
I'm changing the future of this thread.
*steps on you*
>the story relies on a causal loop
>the story relies on a causal loop that passes through multiple alternate timelines at different points of time, runs into both directions into the past and future, and has copies of people being sent to parallel universes with an alien fax machine that cause more causal loops that all diverge back into the main one
COMPLEX
MOTIVES
>i created this game so i can be born
>kills his parents before being conceived in majority of the timelines
Yup. Makes perfect sense
whatever happened to Kyle?
his motives are too complex4u
The logical end game of Zero Escape is playing as Ace to prevent Nonary Games from existing in the first place.
TELL ME Yea Forums
WHO KILLED ZERO ESCAPE
Non-canon.
the budget
I REJECT ZERO ESCAPE!
(You)
You're thinking of the guy possessing Kyle.
The series should have ended with 999 desu
>completely self contained and finished prior to sequel shits
>best art out of all three
>best characters out of all three
>best junpei out of all three
>best villains
>least pants-on-head retarded plot twists (fucking off-screen wheelchair fuck ztd)
>best emotional moments out of all three (only waifu fags cried when that robot bitch in VLR died god I don't even remember her name that's how forgettable she is )
>best OST on the DS in general
>least retarded puzzles
VLR is still good, but ZTD shouldn't have been made.
If you could choose between keeping the meme fest that is ZTD and getting the "true" sequel to VLR, which would you choose?
999 >> VLR > ZTD
It just got more disappointing
post the memes already
What would this hypothetical sequel be like?
The buildup to the release of ZTD was better than the game itself.
The threads over each character reveal and trying to figure out who matched the silhouettes was top tier.
The logical conclusion of dumb meta shit is to make the audience the culprit, and to make me the culprit. But we all know the moment I "remember" who I "really am" and kill myself the credits will roll, and then to get MORE META, the TRUE TRUE culprit will be a completely well adjusted Amish Man and/or Woman, because they literally couldn't possibly have any connection with weeb shit, ergo they DO
It's the path of severance, a race to the bottom. A need for "twists", and to have a good twist you need to destroy the old.
How about a twist that the player is fucking awesome? Something like GAMERS RISE UP, but like, unironic. Is that too nice of a dream to ask for? Or does everything have to be one big stupid nightmare of subverting expectations and playing into keikakus, of puppets puppeting puppets
Tbh, VLR struck a really good balance of retarded shit and genuinely good shit. Like 999 is definitely the highest quality of the three, but I think ultimately VLR is the most entertaining
999
>quality ****
>camp **
VLR
>quality ***
>camp ****
ZTD
>quality
>camp *****
Some shit happens off-screen with Akane getting the Free the Soul robe and attending a meeting, so Akane and Brother are probably cooperating by the time of VLR.
Whatever was originally planned, given it was basically completely scrapped
True VLR sequel.
The memes were just a coping mechanism to get over how shit and disappointing ZTD was.
If it includes the worse apocalypse then I'm down.
Man, I felt really fucking bad for those two who get stranded in one timeline completely trapped with no food or water or hope for escape or at least I dead til they revealed there was plenty of food and water right next tothem but they were too stupid to not realize it was there after all the time they were stuck there, you mean to tell me in all that time, they decided they'd rather fuck each other and spawn two kids that had no real hope for surviving there than actually comb ever inch of their little prison to get out?
I swear somewhere around Virtual Last Reward the author got too far up his own ass and created depressing shit just for it to be depressing kinda like where he set it up to where the ZTD characters have to fuck over some other version of themselves by swapping with them so those poor bastards die in an explosion next to a dead man they don't know and a fucking dog while they go on to live their lives for them. What's even weirder is that gun stand off, if they truly want to stop the terrorist from fucking humanity with a rusty spoon killing that version of Delta hinders them, he's the one with the connections, money and influence they need to find that son of a bitch, putting a bullet in him now will screw them over in the future, not to mention it's rather hypocrital to kill him when thanks to how the game is set up they effectively murdered their way through time and space to reach this point.
I think the thing that really gets me is that apparently with each jump they can still remember the brutal deaths they left behind and it hits them all at once, surely remembering the pain of being shot, stabbed, burned, poisoned, decapitated, blugeon'd, exploded and starving to death would make them crazy right?
I hope there's never a sequel because it's only gonna get more depressing and confusing
His motives are very complex. You wouldn't understand.
How did Akane mirror Kyle's actions exactly when they faced the same situation?
Was it implied that the Phi sent back to 1905 raised the Phi from 2009, or was that just some random scientist couple who owned the teleporters?
Every Zero Escape changes the context of the last. Eventually we're going to find out that the crazy religious leader who crucified everyone and burnt the entire world was, probably, right, cause if he didn't some other, OTHER terrorist would come along and torture mankind forever, but that other, other guy was right too because he wanted the power crystals and blah blah blah
>implying the next big bad wasn't Gendo Ikari
DAMN BRAT
What budget?
DAMN BRAT
I just want a ZTD game without all the bullshit sci fi and time travel shenanigans. When someone dies, I want to feel their fucking deaths. Something with alternate routes and endings so in some endings we learn more about the character and it hurts more when they die in others.
Its funny because, looking back on it, ZTD was 1000x worse of a third game in a trilogy than ME3
>ME
>designed from start as a trilogy
>first game does very good job of both setting up the greater plot of the trilogy and having a satisfying story of its own
>second game does nothing to advance greater plot, has a satisfying story of its own
>third game tries to do way too much to compensate for seconds lack of progression and underdelivers massively as a result
>ZE
>designed as a standalone game with an open ending
>first game works great as this standalone experience
>second game does a good job recontextualizing first game to create a trilogy, and setting up the third game, but underdelivers as it's own experience
>third game completely botches the setup given to it by second game
nigga, you want scholarship?.jpg
E17 > 999 > VLR > RD > R11 >> shit >> ZTD > N7
Given ZTD eschews the single protagonist structure of the previous games, I wouldve liked to have at least parts of it where the modification is done through 428-style manipulation of other characters actions rather than 999/VLR time travel
ZTD was all about that, there's like three endings that completely fuck up the nicest chick in the cast, in one, she starves to death, in another she commits suicide and in another she's left to die alone in a room full of corpses. Then there's Junpei and Akane's entire story, the guy who just wanted to save that girl, the girl who just wanted to be with that boy.
Then, the game pretty much tells you the version of the character you got attached to is dead because another version of that character shifted into the timeline where you managed to save them instead. They do this so many times, It's almost impossible to tell which version of which character still is the original one you met or another version who showed up to get out of being killed and once you realize that, there's pretty much nothing left but apathy for the characters because why bother getting attached now, for all you know at some point in this path another version of that character will shift here to avoid a bad ending you just got
I FINALLY REALIZED WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE ZTD I DID IT ANONS
So here is the plan, I kill myself quickly and then I will jump to a different time line where we got the true sequel to VLR
I will report back with my findings friends don't forget me
I want to pat his head and give him a root beer float!
Is never7 really that bad?
Also whats RD, 12R?
Congrats you now have radical-6, which one of you is going to kill himself first?
I think you want Higurashi/Umineko no naku koro ni.
did we ever find out what the fuck that hat was
The creators of Zero Escape and Dangan Ronpa are now a team. Can't wait!
I wish Uchi would kill himself
ZTD didn't "botch" anything, the original script was scrapped for no reason
RD = Root Double
12R = 12 Riven
pic related
He stores snacks in there silly
Yeah. Already read them and they were great, but I'm in a saw mood and I really fucking want more death game shit. Surprised there really isn't anything about it.
How come Delta is an asshole but Phi gets some sympathy? Diana even hugs her close after the scene where all of their memories of all their prior deaths and in Diana's case, starvation and even birthing Phi and Delta return to them wasn Phi helping with shit like this at some point? Also, I'm surprised Carlos and Akane can stand being near each other considering they're sure to remember killing each other in other timelines and let's not forget big boobs mass murderer, she killed the entire cast once and escaped the place with her own little needle of radical 6 to play with
Gross. from what I hear Dangan Ronpa is even more confusing than zero escape and far far more cruel to it's characters as they don't even have SHIFTING to escape, they just die
xbox vs play Which is better? I'm new to consoles
:/
And the result of that scrapping was a botched implementation of the sequel setup by VLR
Nakazawa is definitely the better writer however I/O was way too COMPLEX and I'm not even joking root double was literally BEESHEE: the game. Nakazawa would be great if someone slapped him and told him STOP THAT SHIT.
I love infographics *,*
I am important and totally matter in the plot.
>Gross
>Didn't even play Danganronpa
Why do you have an opinion on something you haven't experienced? Danganronpa isn't even that confusing.
I actually don't like Danganronpa for being too "quirky" with that hope and despair shit that was probably the worst and obnoxious fucking thing I've read in a visual novel.
Not only can I not remember her name, I can't even remember what happened to her at the end. I'm just gonna assume she either died or after surviving she got to live her life without more crazy shit like this happening, at lest before that life got fucked by the virus
In every game there must be a big tits character. It's mandatory... for complex motives.
To be honest, I don't think you remember anything from the end of VLR user.
>Why do you have an opinion on something you haven't experienced?
Becaue that's how I live my life, I don't have to experience anything to have opinions on the, I never experienced love, friendship or sex yet I hate them all
Is it true that one guy translated 12R by himself and then never released it?
Have sex.
Disagree. E17 had the best execution of the twist, but the ending sequence was pantsu-on-head retarded.
I think 999 was better in how it themed the ending and the way it used the dual screens as different sets of monologues. Overall though I'd rank R11 the highest because it's fully willing to stick to the idea of being deliberately impossible to finish due to (you) being stuck in a temporal loop.
I can rate it. At the same time though the ending of R11 was such a blue ball and dickslap all at the same time. I want my 30+ hours back.
People keep mentioning ever17 and the other games in that series is it worth playing them? Could someone redpill me on it why is it soo good?
Literally her only contriubution to the series is red herrings and being a cunt
I kind of wish ZTD had some shit with her since that probably wouldve been really funny
Then sleep with me!
I disagree with you on R11. I feel like it has a really good story in it somewhere, but it's almost like they ran out of development time and weren't able to finish it. There was a lot of stuff that wasn't really explained, and the lack of a true, good ending made it feel pointless.
Ever17 is No horror, more mystery. God tier twist and boring slice of life. Play it if you're a weaboo and can handle mistranslations.
Remember11 goes full drama/tragedy and the twists are fucking amazing. It slaps you really hard in the fucking dick in the ending. It'll make sense but it will slap you HARD.
I/O I haven't finished but it's pretty much the matrix but anime and way more COMPLEX
Root Double is half Firefighter mystery what the fuck is going on, half high school slice of life shounen. The last route will just spam a certain plot device on you to solve ALL it's problems
Sounds fun user, I think I will try them when I have more spare time
Ever17 is to 999 what Steins;Gate is to Chaos;Child
Bro, they are all retarded
>999 - akane traps everyone in a death game that leads to everyone dying in most timelines just to ensure her exsistence
>vlr. Dude, death cults lmao
She was neccessary for that math equation shit I can barelt remember at all
That's the entire intent of the game though. There is no real ending and stuff is hardly explained because you're trapped in a never-ending loop. The intention of the game is that you're supposed to piece together the details using the stuff you learn across the multiple routes.
It's unlike the other games in that sense because there is no way out of the time travel or parallel universe shenanigans you're getting into.
It's a G time. You should also check out Never7 later but it's pretty much out of tone compared to the other games. It takes place in a summer camp where you spend a week only to ground hogs loop to the first week going ???? the fuck?
The main route has a really good twist and the characters are well done. I thought it was a bit more tolerable slice of life compared to the Ever17 slice of life parts.
What a shame because Chaos;child was probably about to be top of the list as the best VN I've ever read. Takumi was definitely my favourite and relatable. The horror and mystery was definitely unsettling and the delusion system really adds to the story.
Until...
1. USELESS HAREM GIRLS
2. DSWORDS
3. SHIFT OF TONE TO BE A FUCKING SHOUNEN POWER FANTASY
4. OOOO EVIL BAD ORGANIZATION WHO'S HIGH UP IN SOCIETY STRIKES AGAIN
,
Bruh that's what I said. It's genius but at the same time WHAT A FUCKING BLUE BALL. Not satisfying at all, it definitely needed that final route to round everything up.
I actually meant to say Chaos;Head but I was thinking of Child at the time
They needed her round, supple, sizable mathematical skills
...me too user I'm a retard for not catching that. Chaos;head was fucking S tier until that middle. Whoever decided to switch genres halfway through needs a slap in the face
Why couldn't you choose which girl you fuck tho? I prefer the other 2 to akane
That was exactly how I felt about YU-NO.
Why not both? I need more clover, but edgy jumpy is hilarious
You can choose to get fucked in the axe by Clover, if you want.
FUCK IM PLAYING IT RN. IS IT THAT BAD user?
I wish it was as popular as ZTD, the final parts of ZTD tier stuff that would be a blast to see people complain about
Out of all the insane science shit Phi figured out, how the fuck did she not realize the aluminum foil could be used to take off the bracelets?
did Uchikochi predict the Nintendo Switch
I didn't finish it. The infodumps were getting way too high IQ for my brain.
The twist over Hinata being the guy was fucking great.
VN general. Recommend games, guys.
Starless
Crazy clover is fine too
What have you played? What do you like?
Expectations?
Is that game related to Bible Black?
Where did you drop it? after a certain point the infodumps become absolutely retarded and worth reading just to laugh at them
Same thing happens to HE, by the end he is so over the top you can't even take him seriously
Poor alice. She had no personality, only tits
Loved 1 & 2, I dropped 3 around the point when they began time traveling or some shit.
The puzzles weren't charming like in the first two and the art style was jarring as fuck.
Steins;Gate is obvious
Steins;Gate 0 if you like the first one although it sorta shits the bed towards the end
Saya no Uta if you want lovecraftian doomer core
CLANNAD if you want peak dating simulator
Dies Irae is one I haven't played but it's supposed to be a pretty good fantasy one.
Somewhere when Hinata is actually HE and the other personality decides to do some evil shit in a hotel room or something. It's been a few years since I last played. Mind spoiling me?
the only thing worse than a stupid convoluted plot is realizing your life is a stupid convoluted plot
Read 2236 A.D so you can be one of the 5-6 people in the whole world that has read it
Why is VLR so off the wall? 999 was more grounded but VLR sure took it to the max level
>You were a boomer all along
>With cyber arms and eye
>You are in the moon
>You and everyone were infected meaning the perception of time was faster than what the player sees and experiences
>Clones
>apocalypse
>schorindgers cat on steroids
Like what the fuck
So,realistically, do you think the group will shoot delta? I personally think they won't, they'll stop the terrorist with his help then go on to live their lives or rather after they all stop the terrorist another version of them shifts to their timeline to live out the happy future they all wanted for themselves in a sort of poetic retribution for them shifting to that timeline to get out of the bombing dooming their innocent other selves in the process of that. ending the zero escape series on something like that would probably piss people off tho but I think it'd be a fitting finale, we don't even need to personally know the new versions of them, we just need to see the ones we know all happy and content and the game ends on the lights coming down to each of them and their new selves waking up resuming whatever they were just doing looking even more happy than they were normally.
I really have only played/read Zero Escape trilogy.
I've watch Higurashi/Umineko anime.
I have Psycho-Pass game on PS4 but it's a little complex. I have to read all the terminology and lexicon to understand it xD
I played Hatoful Boyfriend xD
I don't mind hentai games. I like sci-fi, mystery.
Devil on G-String or something like that (1 route only)
Just for that xD
Don't give this faggot any recommendations what a cringe fag.
Mint and redpilled
It has the same scenario writer (Sei Shoujo
Also what the fuck I did not hear it had a sequel coming out in a month fuck
>xD
>watched Higurashi/Umineko anime
Just kill yourself
Looking back on it.... How do we fucking know delta is telling the truth? Maybe he just needed a team of espers to stop the REAL BROTHER.
RIGHT? RIGHT?
nofunallowed.jpg
>I like sci-fi, mystery.
Steins;Gate would probably be your favorite VN if you play it. Also an anime which is almost as good, though the VN has multiple endings and more content
emoticons are acceptable again thanks to cyclicism sorry
Kill yourself faggot
Faggots
That's why we can't have nice things.
But don't worry, I'm like you but stronger. :)
Are we getting raided by a discord?
Finally got around to playing ZTD. Here's my hot take:
the 'off-screen wheelchair' twist wasn't any more retarded than the 'Sigma was an old man the whole time' twist form VLR
This seems to be the hardest pill for VLRfags to swallow. Old Man is objectively an awful twist.
The weirdest thing about it replaying it is that the scenes in the infirmary CONSTANTLY have a camera angle just looking at the mirror (which does reflect the room)
Like theyre just shoving the inconsistency in your face
It's the presentation. Seeing you in the caskett and everyone's like "the fuck who is that?” makes you go oh fuck what the fuck do they mean? Then seeing sigma in the river was ohhhh shit that makes sense (at first).
Delta's twist was randomly putting in Delta's name and some old guy stands up. I honestly thought I skipped a few cutscenes and missed a clue or something.
VLR's puzzles can suck a fat dick, oh my god.
I've been meaning to play the Psycho Pass game but last time I rewatched Psycho Pass I literally ended up in a Psych ward so eh maybe not
Yeah but that Pantry music youtube.com
Because complex motives, they have no real reason to trust him as he clearly doesn't mind lying to cover his ass but with all they've experienced and learned over their timeline hopping and deaths it's all they have to go on, if they want to live life without mroe of this nullshit they have to listen to this guy and solve the problem but the ultimate kick in the nuts will be them solving this problem and thinking they're finally free only to get bodyjacked by another version of themselves where they failed to solve it and probably die in some gruesome way, part of me feels like it'd be fitting to show the new version of them enjoying their hard fought for safe future while the old version we know from the last game are experiencing the death they left behind like say Carlos being shot to death, Diana bleeding out from a stab wound, Junpei being decapitated, Akane burning alive, Diana suffocating, Sean exploding, Phi being impaled , Eric drowning, Mira being electrocuted and Sigma alone with a timer about to hit zero looking defeated. They can show all this side by side with images of the new version of themselves happily doing things like Diana and Sigma with their kids with a happy Phi holding herself, Junpei and Akane giving each other a big kiss at their wedding alter, Eric and Mira having a prison wedding and Carols and Sean walking around a city with Sean wearing a crappy disguise.
The only one aware that this happened will be a content Delta who finally dies of old age with his last words being "Life is simply unfair, don't you think?" To nobody since he's dying alone, with nobody there to give a damn about him in his house
Please play my game!
Bro what the fuck did you just typed? I'm saying how do we know if there's really a terrorist? Maybe it's just a lie to get them to go over Brother who's actually shown to be a well intentioned extremist that part of the espers would actually agree with if they listened to him.
I think that was route E
Anyway, here come the spoilers, only read if you are sure you want to GET SPOILED on I/O
>there is no "Evil personality", just Hinata in his new body and HE who hacked in
>on the other hand there is that boring twin and the older female hacker MC's Null in the same body
>right after the point you stopped they meet up, they realized they were tricked and the eclipses they saw were 3 different ones, also real world is merging with virtual world and their cameras always show a full moon like in the game
>on the day the final eclipse will happen they raid the reverse trap's hideout
>they find the imouto in a artificial coma machine so her brain can host the game
>they go into her dream because they hold the password to the machine
>dream is a recreation of the events that happend since the start
>the "evil personality"/eyes was their higher dream conciousness witnessing the events of the dream they entered in a recursive way
>they reach her inside the dream
>no password so they enter the dream again
>this repeats a few times
>on the way they talk with a secret second quantum computer the big bad company made, he was created to destroy the first one which housed the AI who housed the game
>he had secretly set everything up so the MCs can enter the deepest part of the dream and apologize to the AI
>they eventually find the password
>they log out
>they realize they just logged out of one dream and can't even know how many times they did this or if there was even a start
>on the way they realize that since the dream is hooked to a quantum computer it just isn't a simple real world>dream1>dream2>..>dreamN trip but actually a full on multiverse fuckery tier web of recursive dreams that are all over the place so they can't find the exit (can't explain better because it doesn't actually make much sense)
Too long, cont'd on post 2
Shit man, I don't know what possibile reason could their be to kill off all of humanity with a virus? if it were a few people like what the 3 zeros do in the games there might be some reason for it but with that many deaths it makes absolutely no sense to off that many people
>ZTD Zero wasn't Junpei
Doesn't matter because it's an "alternate universe" people. Akane technically indirectly killed Junpei over and over again. Sigma also indirectly fucked everyone up in the ambidex game multiple times.
Kinda adds a new meaning to that last shift they did where they either decide to shift in the end to save themselves or don't shift to save their alternate selves.
Old man Sigma was a great twist because it did what all twists should do, which is recontextualize the story up to that point. It is also silly but that's the charm. Delta was more or less randomly inserted after the fact even if there was supposed to be oblique foreshadowing with vague shadows and camera angles and other nonsense. The net effect on you is "huh, ok" instead of "wow wtf"
I honestly expected something more meta with titles like "You Are Zero!" It would've been a suitably ridiculous twist for the series.
I was thinking about this and it would be cool to see a brain dead Delta or a playable character that acts like the typical self insert protagonist only for him to turn to the camera and said "you thought you were in control?”
Mainly because their alternative selves still die because radical 6 fucks humanity I guess when you think about it, they're choosing to end their lives now vs ending them later, still it's fucked up, I only hope that since the shift knocked them out for a while it did to the same to their alternative counterparts so they didn't have to suddenly find themselves in that situation they left behind, that delta probably shot the dog as an act of mercy rather than let it go up in an explosion
I/O SPOILERS DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SPOILED
>they are lost, all hope is lost and they think about giving up
>cutscene starts
>youtube.com
>HE sprite shows up
>HE has a flashback of the teacher motivating Hinata
>HE asks every single person he saved in the past to guide him and send him his energy(a literal spirit bomb)
>Hacker girl realizes they don't need to log out to the real world, all the dreams are real world and they need to log out to each one of them ALL at once
>credits start
>postcredits scene or something,I don't really remember
>this isn't the worst part, it gets worse
>unlock route D'
>it's just an overly long route full of Babylonian myth explanations filler that don't even matter anything
>HE decides to go look for his past
>he was actually a mute hacker shota who hacked the evil corporation to meet a blind girl who he fell in love at first sight
>corporation find out and kidnaps him
>he kills himself but uploads himself to the net
>he meets the girl again, she was the one in the vat the whole time
>rotue C' is just a boring retelling of route C from another PoV
>route B' has boring twin helps the reverse trap raid the corp, there they find childhood friend's dad who activates the quantum computer and hooks it up to a nanomachines assembler
>starts to 3D print real bodies for NULLs, thats where the memes screencap is from
>if it isn't stopped in a few minutes the world will be destroyed by nanomachines because humans have genes and memes and quantum computers only have memes(not physical) so it wants to destroy everything
>but before that all characters lose their personalities and you have to listen to a literal infodump about memes and genes for at least and hour, maybe more
>then they shut it down, happy end where Twin and Hinata hook up
It isn't over yet, it still gets worse in the next post
Is English your first language?
thanks user, I'm still here. Damn I was actually excited for I/O. Nakazawa definitely that hard slap to say STOP IT. Is it less retarded in execution?
No I'm still learning most of it
>"Your final decision is whether to shoot me or let me live!"
>aren't actually given a choice and game ends immediately
hey
yeah it was translated and not released because he went official
no it is pretty retarded in execution sometimes
It really feels like ZTD just went full on "We want the Danga Ropa audience" instead of keeping up its own thing. I mean the definitely took some edge off in the jump from 999 to VLR, but it was still there and the game still felt like it belonged in the series.
I could barely finish ZTD it was such a slog.
Nah it looked like Uchikoshi spent too much time watching Western media and decided to be a cuck and follow their shit tier plot twists.
FINAL I/O SPOILERS
>route A'
>Hinata lives with his imouto after the end of E'
>realizes he hasn't thought about his childhood friend at all for the past months
>looks for her
>the rabbit you save in route A is ran over by a car
>next day it's alive again and the childhood friend was seen near the grave
>Hinata raids the coporation
>turns out Mutsuki died when she was 3 years old, her father just used nanomachines to 3D print a copy
>for some unexplained reason she got quantum entangled with the imouto so that is supposed to explain why she is so good at hiding and why Hinata forgot about imouto for years and then forgot about the friend when looking for imouto
>and also imouto now can manipulate matter due to nanomachines for som reason, I don't remember
>Hinata saves her
>Happy ending, they hook up
>Route E' kino starts here
>it starts with a sky background and the sound of waves
>all the characters arguing about Nanomachines
>it is revealed this is a timeline where the father of the childhood friend won and managed to destroy the world using nanomachines
>turns out the nanomachines act as a virtual world of sorts and everyone was uploaded to it, basically making every single human omnipotent thanks to reality being made out of code
>this was his plan all along, to make every single human a god, and to do this he manipulated the quantum computer(instead of just activating the nanomachines when nobody was around) to orchestrate the events of the whole VN
>multiple characters tell him to fuck off for some reason and leave to find timelines where he loses for some reason
>cut to a CG of 1 little boy who looks like Hinata and 2 little girls who look like imouto and childhood friend playing on an infinite sea
>turns out all the routes you see are seen by them from this timeline with their omnipotence
>you get a cutscene of the characters fusing in some triangular thing to form the kids who play on the sea
>final credits roll
All you need to know is that the author left it possible for them to have a happy ending after all the shit they went through
Anyone else excited for Tessa's game?
Ah.. a fellow musubi follower!
Holy fucking shit that sounds so cool but so fucking stupid but so fucking cool. How'd you like the game? I'm not sure if I like this shit or not from the spoilers lmaooo
What about comments about ZTD like and
Many find the second part brilliant. It is so unexpected that it understandably turns many people off too, but if you manage to become immersed and emotionally invested it is an incredible experience.
>3 years next month
bump
FUCK
Do I start my ZTD replay now or let my enjoyment of my 999/VLR replays stand for a bit?
she killed billions
I wish there were more flavor additions in vlr when youre far in the game remembering shit you shouldnt
Like if after you save akane you go back to discovering her body you remember who she is or something like that
ZTD was retarded but it was fun. Carlos was a great character and the memes were the best out of the franchise. I would have prefered a proper sequel to VLR but I rather have ZTD than nothing.
To be fair, like quark she ends up incapacitated in a lot of routes and the rooms you go through with her are more about the other member of your group.
You guys hyped for this? looks fun
If you couldn't see foreshadowing for any of that you're a damn fool.
>The mirror does reflect the room
But if you examine it while examining the infirmary you can't see shit.
>akshually it was obviously in on being shit!!!
it was written by 3 different people, Uchikoshi didn't give a shit, everyone phoned it in, nobody was in on anything
Why does radical six go fully symptomatic for anyone other than quark and alice besides clovers ending? Also, if everyone is suffering from the radical six processing speed, why do they get even slower when its worse?
he openly started hanging out with DR's hack writer/director
ZTD is this DR infused shitty writing+Telltale knockoff, no they brought up the fucking Walking Dead game as inspiration too
They get even slower when it's worse because they're perceiving the world around them as faster and they're struggling to keep up with the information.
Bitch how is that related to my question? Who the fuck cares about being able to see the foreshadowing
Get the fuck out
I loved the part where I spoiled the twist for myself by typing Delta in the library. (Was it a library?)
And by loved I mean laughing out loud at the game being shit.
>Join this project to get away from abusive husband
>Get kidnapped and trapped in a death game
>Find out an alternate timeline version of you got trapped her forever with some dude and you feel in love with him and had his babies
>One of the babies is the young looking girl that's currently trapped here with you
>As you go on through this you die various times, including one timeline where after you shoot your lover to save your not daughter she calls you a murderer and in guilt you shoot yourself dead on the spot
>Various other deaths you remember happen as you finally realize just ho this glases girls is and that the old man who trapped you here is actually your time displaced son who killed everyone around you including himself in another timeline leaving you trapped here with their corpses to starve to death or die from the decomposing of their flesh
>Even after all that you finally reach a point where you swap places with yourself at the point none of this happened effectively dooming your alternative counterpart to a brutal death in a massive explosion that you would have no idea about
>Your alternate timeline displaced son tells you that this all happened because a fucking snail got in some person's way and now your other version of your time displaced son has now given a dude on your team a gun to shoot him dead now after giving you a mission to stop a terrorist you know nothing about.
Holy fucking shit what kinda shit were they one with this game? That's not even going into the fact that they now have to live ith the fear that at any moment another version of themselves could kick them out of their new timeline to a doomed one right before an ax cuts their head off or something, the zero escape world sucks
How was that shit? It was a great moment that rewarded experimentation. If anything there should have been more of that.
It was definitely a self-conscious decision to be as over the top as possible. This is evidenced by the "rules of good detective stories" document that you find, where VLR deliberately breaks every single rule.
But everyone is perceiving the world around them as faster at a static rate
>blatantly lies in VLR’s Q&A about several things that were supposed to be in ZTD
>blocks all criticism of ZTD and refuses to do a Q&A
>changed the entire plot of ZTD because he wanted to shoehorn in his The Walking Dead 3-D bullshit
>openly answered questions for years about “?” and Kyle while not saying it was all non-canon until after ZTD’s release
>accepts all praise for ZTD and is using it to boost his career forward
No one has ever lost my respect as fast as Uchi did. I don’t give a shot how good AI is, I won’t be paying a cent to experience it and won’t bother with it at all unless it ends up Yea Forums approved as a legit good story.
People talk about how shitty Yea Forums is for game opinions but at least no one here tries to give ZTD 9’s or 10’s , or acts like it’s the greatest VN story ever told.
ZTD was straight up crap, but let's not forget that VLR was just as bad. All that buildup for a "buy the sequel please!" ending that hung for years, and when it finally did come out it was shit.
Can't wait to buy Uchikoshi's next game.
I really really think Akane was helping out Delta. Her actions in ZTD make so much more sense. She's the one who awakens Delta to being an esper in the first place, and I don't think it's a coincidence that it's a result of the ambidex game. Delta also needed an esper to read in order to see future events, who's the ONE esper in the series who's capable of freely traversing the fourth dimension? Akane.
The fact that C Team only gets one ending is also very suspicious.
Gab
>She's the one who awakens Delta
I meant Carlos.
And Carlos then goes on to essentially fulfill Delta's plan.
So Akane is absolutely essential to Delta's plan, and she does it via coldblooded murder. We're expected to believe she did it out of emotion, but that contradicts her behavior in 999 and VLR.
>literally no one tried taking the elevator down after opening the number 9 door
i was so FUCKING mad that gab ended up being completely irrelevant
Gab being Zero would've been a better reveal than what we got
they needed a Zero in each team
Man, why could't it have been as simple as Jump saves Akane in the past, while finding her in the present and they sneak off to enjoy their lives together? I enjoyed 999 so much because I went in blind and bungled my way through everything until finally getting to that part where I saved her and turned the incinerator off. I never felt so happy to solve a puzzle back then and the sequel games have completely pissed it all away
to be honest VLR was also a horrible sequel to 999
>great moment
yeah no it was shite, it would have been fine as a post game go back once you know the name thing
me stumbling into it and it spoiling the thing the game is trying to hide via Benny Hill cutscene is a farce though, much like the rest of the game
At the very least it has No More Heroes artist making some cool looking people. That said, I'm sure the story is going to be retarded.
yes, thank you
people liked VLR based on what it promised would come next, but doesn't stand on its own at all
>Sigma and whatshername live forever in one-third of the complex
>they never decided to push the button
>comes out in america before japan
glad to see these fuckers know who's funding them
Did you guys know that Carlos was a fireman?
literally just a PG anime version of 999
it was fine
I liked it on it's own, but all the complaints that ZTD loses all the buildup from VLR also apply to VLR coming from 99. Thing is that VLR made it so ZTD would also have to carry the weight of the setup from 999.
god i want Phi to crush my nuts
How'd they end up being the only ones there again? did everyone else die or escape and leave their asses there? That's cold
>but all the complaints that ZTD loses all the buildup from VLR also apply to VLR coming from 99
no they don't, 999 had less things building up and all vlr did was shit the bed with alice
I like to think this was the original plan but because everyone figured it out they had to change everything about the game in 4 months, therefore giving us the evil old man we got.
I remember how excited I felt seeing some of this artwork for the first time and cautiously looking around the conjecture threads. If only we knew how awful it was.
>How about a twist that the player is fucking awesome? Something like GAMERS RISE UP, but like, unironic. Is that too nice of a dream to ask for? Or does everything have to be one big stupid nightmare of subverting expectations and playing into keikakus, of puppets puppeting puppets
Isn't this basically Ever17
Why wasnt non canon kyle voiced in japanese?
>how on earth foes she plan to do that?
post Phi
ZTD was very shit but goddamn if the ending into VLR wasn't fucking great
Only if it's VLR Phi.
That's not fair
>remembering carlos going super saiyan
Life is simply unfair
Yes, and the older Phi was also the terrorist that Delta was trying to kill.
>these ugly characters
>that terrible voice acting
>more Spike Chunsoft 3D model character acting
Uchikino is back boys
>tfw 428 never got ruined
Canaan doesn't count
It really wasn't. VLR made it seem like they couldn't do anything to stop R6 from escaping, but then in ZTD they could have just jumped back 2 minutes and stopped Mira from infecting them. Or have Diana demand a hazmat team to deal with the survivors.
>What happened to Snake/Light during the events of VLR? Did he search for Clover for 45 years, like how Junpei still searched for Akane?
>This will be revealed in the 3rd game. I hope you guys look forward to it.
>Where is Aoi during VLR?
>This will be revealed on the 3rd game. Hope you guys look forward to it.
COMPLEX MOTIVES
>What’s going on with Ace? Does he die or escape from prison when Radical-6 hits?
>This will be revealed in the 3rd game. I hope you guys look forward to it.
>The cloak Akane wore in the End or Beginning, with the Free the Soul symbol on it, looked like it was the same as the one Snake wore in the true end of 999, which had the Free the Soul symbol as well. Why is that? I thought Snake’s robes were from when Lord Gordain ran the Nonary Games, so why is the Free the Soul symbol on Snakes’s robes?
>This will be revealed in the 3rd game. I hope you guys look forward to it.
I suddenly feel very si
>What prompts Dio to pull a knife on Clover? And why leave her and Tenmyouji alive after handcuffing them? Why not kill them with his knife, instead of risking them being found?
>Well, originally Dio was planning to do something even more messed up to Clover, but our president said NO to that idea for ethical reasons, so that scene was cut out. That’s why Dio pointed his knife towards Clover. The reason why he handcuffed Clover and Tenmyouji is because he enjoys the gambling feeling of it all. Experiencing luck and winning in that type of game is the only way he can sense the feeling of “love”. Just think of it as the mentality of a messed up person.
>ywn rape bimbo clover with your bro dio
Based
>What happened to Snake and the rest of the 999 cast during the Pandemic and succeeding apocalypse?
>This will be revealed in the 3rd game. I hope you guys look forward to it!
Why was Carlos such a fuckup?
>In the Zero Escape universe, how long has Free the Soul been around? In question 44 from your previous Q&A centered around 999, you said that the robes worn by Snake were from Lord Gordain, who “conducted strange ceremonies in the incinerator” (along with friends) on the Gigantic/Britannic, which leads me to believe that Lord Gordain was also part of Free the Soul. But according to Seven, while talking behind Door [7] in 999, Lord Gordain died in the 1930s (1931/1932, I believe). If these two statements are correct, then Free the Soul existed at least by the 1930s, if not earlier. So when was Free the Soul established? And how did Brother manage to keep his brother’s DNA intact/uncorrupted until the technology to clone (Dio/Left, 4th generation Myrmidon leader) him became available? Also, when was human cloning invented in the VLR timeline, and when was the first generation of Left clones gestated?
>This will be revealed in the 3rd game. I hope you guys look forward to it!
>CLANNAD if you want peak dating simulator
Is that the feels simulator one?
saw 1 is the only thing that matters, nothing after it makes sense and can't be applied to real life. if you make a movie where they are human and need to figure stuff in a realistic mode, make the antagonist less godlike in planning. shit movie series that ruined the genre with them spawning other shit tier copies.
I think it was when Akane murdered Carlos and then escaped.
>All those questions answered with "This will be revealed in the 3rd game!"
>None of them were actually revealed in ZTD
when?
Imagine how much the path of human history has diverged because of this, how many human lives changed forever.
ZTD
ZTD was such an immense fuckup it's genuinely astounding. I don't get how a creator can be THAT indifferent about his most famous series.
Any one of: Alien Fax Machine, COMPLEX MOTIVES, Mind Hack, blind deaf old man secretly out of shot all the time and never mentioned once and not even slightly suspicious at all, snails, terrible animation, lack of personality in cutscenes, etc fucking etc would be enough on its own to ruin the fucking game yet they're ALL in there at once. What a fucking disaster.
AND THIS SHIT JUST FUCKING IGNORING EVERY OTHER PART OF THE SERIES TO BE ANSWERED, FUUUUUUUCK
WHY THE FUCK WAS MIRA ALLOWED TO GO FREE
SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR HER CRIMES
I've recently been playing all the translated science adventure games as my first VNs (and also Persona 5 if that sort of counts). What else should I get that is similar?
The hottest girl in the series and one of the hottest vidya girls ever.
Delta was Brother
>recontextualize the story up to that point
by sacrificing the logic
You mean every fucking time he touched his face he didn't feel anything wrong? Wrinkles? Hair?
It's a twist for the sake of a twist.
>the bootstrap paradoxes are the core of the games, the climaxes of 999 and VLR
>they basically boil down to 'lmao don't think about it too hard' whenever someone brings up how they don't make sense
Well he only needed the one timeline because that's why he exists.
If Delta was only created in the timeline where Diana and Sigma fuck, then how does he appear in every timeline simply by travelling to the past?
Wouldn't he still only exist in that timeline regardless of time travel?
>Never Seven
>Ever Seventeen
>Remember Eleven
>>>>>>>code eighteen
Chucklefucks didn't even bothered to even begin to try
Reminder that Delta did all this because he couldn't find that one terrorist dude
>by sacrificing the logic
You just see the timelines where Sigma didn't realize he was old. All other timelines aren't part of Zero's plan and are therefor not shown in the game.
All timelines in the game are just branches of the same tree, with Delta appearing in the past as common root.
I swear to god people always say I/O is amazing but I played like three routes and it was just boring shit that made no sense.
I know it's supposed to get good eventually, but is it actually worth it? I was getting less payoff than in early umineko.
The sudoku in 999 is still the most mind blowing thing I've ever experienced.
>tfw guessed that they were on the moon from the first set of CGs shown in the opening hour
>'HURRY UP AND DIE YOU SENILE OLD FUCK' still flew over my head
Uchi is a hack. As soon as he ran out of ideas to reuse from the Infinity series he gave us ZTD
Shittykoshi at least knows to present the hook at the earliest and drag you through the story, this Nakazawa fag is seemingly clueless how to write anything and not bore you to death
I've tried RD, after several hours I was bored out of fucking skulls and in tears from yawning, absolutely shit tier art and that garbage system of "adjust trust to this specific value or watch gameover" didn't help in the slightest
Tried I\O few weeks ago and have no interest returning to it either
>blah blah blah blah term term blah blah blah
is the quick summary of a few hours of that shit so far
Waste of time
428 Shibuya Scramble and Utawarerumono trilogy. Both praised in Japan but really niche in the west which is pretty sad.
Is this Maken X?
is that actually stated or is it just wishful thinking in an attempt to have things make more sense.
The squimish Japanese who thought 999 and VLR were too scary to play and instead bought Danganronpa which relied on waifus, an edgy premise about highschool students murdering each other and shock horror to sell are unironically to blame for Zero Time Dilemma being shit
Uchikoshi originally wrote VLR and ZTD at the same time, but due to a lack of sales in Japan the sequel was canned and after some time Uchikoshi threw out the original script in favour of three script s written by different people
Danganronpa killed Zero Escape
This is also why DRV3 was shit
Kodaka was actually impressed by ZTD's twists and set out to out-do them
The image from Remember11 has no place being there, the body-swapping is one of the central plot points and that image isn't a twist at all.
It's not wishful thinking, it's how the multiverse works in these games. You're just making additional assumptions that contradict what the game tells you and then you say the game doesn't make sense. Also, there are similar scenarios in 999 and VLR that work on the same logic.
Mira is my angel!
428 is the best VN releases in English last year and nobody bought it.
Canaan was ruining the plot even within the VN itself, and the Canaan route is horrible. Fuck Nasu.
I don't see what people like about VLR. It's all setup. The plot of the game itself isn't interesting. The characters are stiff and boring.
Root Double worth it?
Give me good VNs to play on a VITA
I already know about Danganronpa and S;G
the puzzles are really good, and I disagree the characters are boring
I mean, there's not much going on with Qwark or Clover, since they're essentially plot devices and sattelites for Tenmyouji and Alice, who are more there to tell you background shit than be characters. Dio, Luna and Phi are all pretty one note. Just not a lot of substance there.
Muv-Luv & Alt
Root Double
Xblaze
Utawarerumono
if you don't mind Otomes
CollarXMalice
Code:Realize
Psychedelica Black Butterfly/Ashen Hawk
Hakuouki Kyoto Winds/Edo Blossoms
if you think those three are one note then I don't know what to tell you
Dio's whole point is that he's simple. That's the entire idea. There's a brief flash of outside emotion, but he's essentially a drone.
One of my favourite things about it is the metanarrative surrounding timelines in the story and as a game, alongside muh termites.
It's one of the few cases of a time travel narrative being improved by the fact that it's in a video game and as a result it's one of the more compelling uses of time travel I've seen in a game.
Not counting the nonsense bootstrap paradox at the end
VLR being so off the rails is why I love it more than 999
I don't think people anywhere do that anyway.
I will say that the twist that "Canaan" isn't Canaan was pretty damn good but for everything else I'd rather excise her out of the plot. It was equal parts nauseating and hilarious how hard they fellated her every time she showed up.
One of the few games that actually properly used the DS along with Ghost Trick and TWEWY.
The beautiful thing about that document is that it breaks every single rule in it and still manages to be a good detective story, by staying true to the spirit the rules were written in.
>Junpei 'imagines' what All-Ice or Alice looks like
>after leaving Building Q, they meet the exact woman he imagined in the desert, complete with an identical outfit
>it turns out her name is Alice
>but she has nothing to do with All-Ice
>in fact the only reason she exists in the story is because she's really good at mental math
Honestly we should've known something was wrong a long time ago
Elaborate please
Wait what?
Etrian Odyssey
Canaan was just really boring more than anything
Alice is also there to fuck you if you played 999 before and in story gives you more background information about FtS.
Here's hoping somnium's files turns out good.
Didn't Nakazawa joined Uchi and Kodaka at their new company? Because if so their new games might be too batshit insane, I hope someone in the staff will be able to control them.
ITT: we pretend that VLR was well written
She went to prison though, and at the end, she faxed her body to the past to stop her from starting her own murder spree.
But that could've been a complete random girl, the only reason it was Alice was, "haha fuck you 999 fans for expecting pay off". I knew this franchise already shared the bed at that point, ZTD was no surprise. At least everything ended up good and everyone happy, that's more than I could ask for anymore.
Which, implicitly, also undoes the series of events that starts Zero Escape in the first place
Which, ultimately, means that the Nonary Games never happened, and by extension, the Decision Game never happened, and now there is no one who can stop the fanatic
Is there a place where I can find the I/O cg's? Some of them are great but I can't find a site that hosts them.
Yes, in an alternate timeline. Maybe Mira will try to track down the terrorist in the timeline, she has the time to do so.
We did
We made the timeline that asked for a sequel. The blue bird project or whatever? When everyone took pics of their 999/VLR copies and sent it to Uchi?
We entered the wrong timeline by accident. Now we're in the timeline where the creator of Danganronpa and ZTD are making a game together.
Hopefully that new game he's making is good, I hate that its 3d though
Honestly the whole fanatic thing felt kinda worthless anyway
Delta did all of that, killed them in so many timelines, for the sake of them stopping the fanatic in just ONE timeline
What about all the others? Why stop him in one and not the rest?
>Now we're in the timeline where the creator of Danganronpa and ZTD are making a game together.
>the creator of Danganronpa
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here
>Killing billions.....to save millions...
None of them care about anything other than their present timeline.
>implying it won't be either shitshow-kino or actual kino
It won't be bland at the very least
Pay off for what exactly? 999 already ruined your pay off when the coffin was empty.
It was more about creating a single timeline where billions didn't have to die. It was the same in VLR, without that plan there wouldn't be any alternate timelines where Radical 6 didn't obliterate everything
And then when they were driving off in the desert, they found a girl named "Alice" who looked exactly like "Allice"
I've been looking for this picture forever. Thank you very much for posting it.
The coffin was empty because you weren't in the actual ship
The point was to leave it ambiguous if there ever really was an All-Ice, until the true ending surprises you by showing her in the desert
Which was clearly a cheeky tease and not a hook for a sequel they hadn't even planned at that time.
Doesn't make me any less disappointed.
I think the story in ZTD was weaker, though it was definitely cool to see everything more animated. I actually skipped 999 and had it spoiled for me by VLR, because I didn't even know there was a precursor when I bought it. VLR was so interesting that it just kept me invested the whole way through. Especially when you start carrying information between timelines and Sigma acknowledges it. Like the scene where he exposes Dio from the getgo was hype as fuck despite being a goddamn visual novel.
But even if ZTD isn't as good as VLR, it still had some really cool scenes. Like the part where Sigma, Frog and their baby all starve to death in the facility :( Was sad as fuck, especially since he was rationing food for the dog as well.
Ace confirmed the coffin was empty on the real ship too. Would it really have been better if they met the real All-Ice randomly walking around in the desert in her old garbs? Why would you even assume that they conserved a live human and not just a corpse?
not gonna lie, root double was fucking disappointing
what's her name
>I didn't even know there was a precursor when I bought it
Are you a europoor?
The boxart in NA said Zero Escape volume 2.
All good questions that I expected the sequel was going to answer.
>Would it really have been better if they met the real All-Ice randomly walking around in the desert in her old garbs?
Yes, because otherwise the entire All-Ice story is completely worthless filler
I don't know how a sequel would tell me why you would assume All-Ice was mummified alive.
She's there for some mystery and to draw parallels to ice9, cryogenic sleep and the root they find in her coffin was used to develop Soporil.
>I've watched Higurashi/Umineko anime
Damn. I did the same mistake with Higurashi because I was young so I made sure to experience Umineko in the way it was intended. You should try to read the VNs
Also fuck you with your xD
She would be a character and explain her backstory. It's really not that complicated.
Yeah, but why would you assume that the mummy was alive?
Also here is Uchi's fanfic about All-Ice:
>The Ice-9 melted, and she's in the desert. Alice's ice melted in a time prior to nine years ago. Lord Gordain purchased the Gigantic around 1920, and Ace subsequently opened the coffin nine years before the events of the story, so she must have broken out in the interim. I presume Alice breaks out just before Ace opens the coffin - about several months to a week before - and I suppose she learned about hitchhiking culture in the nine years since then.
Because they teased it, then had the character return for the sequel. It was very much a slap in the face.
>why would you assume that the mummy was alive?
Because that's what the whole Ice-9 story was about
Nope, Canadian. I bought it from the Nintendo Eshop on DS, so I never saw a physical box at all.
>why would you assume that the mummy was alive?
i got u babe
Ice9 was the explanation for her perfect preservation. There was no indication that they preserved her before her death. They didn't kill their high ranking officials to make mummies.
wrong
There was a definite implication that maybe, just maybe, she was still alive
???????????????
And what would have been more likely? A 2000+ year old mummy hitchhiking in the desert after disappearing from her coffin years prior or it being an unrelated person? Wanting All-Ice as a character in Zero Escape is almost as retarded as a 128 year old Nazi being the mastermind behind everything in the series.
>A 2000+ year old mummy hitchhiking in the desert after disappearing from her coffin years prior or it being an unrelated person?
It being an unrelated person, obviously.
If you don't think Uchi's explanation of why Alice looks identical to "All-Ice" reeks of backpedaling, there's something wrong with you
youtube.com
I'M BROTHER
LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWL
ZTD is a rushed half assed game, there are dozen of plot holes and things set up on previous games it forgets to follow on. The game had so many production issues we are lucky we even got the game at all
Alice looking like All-Ice is to throw players off. Just like Clovers inclusion, Luna being so overly nice, Dio being extremely antagonistic. He wanted to use your knowledge of the previous game against you.The people complaining that Alice looking like All-Ice are missing the point of that design decision.
>Junpei encounters someone completely identical to his mental image of All-Ice
>nothing in the actual game presents this as Junpei's imagination
>they have absolutely nothing to do with each other, it's complete coincidence
user stop trying to defend it
Uchi just fucking changed who Alice was, and gave us a half-baked answer why.
That's all there is to it.
I had to look it up, it's Masuko
I don't know why you want her name but good luck finding anything related to her online, because almost nobody has played 2236 AD
>Uchi just fucking changed who Alice was
Yes they obviously had All-Ice be part of VLR until he changed it last minute.
Not him but I just saw it as a gag at the end of the game that'd make you go
>WHAT? THAT'S HER!
I don't see how it could've been turned into an interesting plot point
>E17 >
retard ranking
>There was a lot of stuff that wasn't really explained
What did you not understand?
>until he changed it last minute.
Not what I said
There is literally no reason why Alice should look IDENTICAL to someone Junpei IMAGINED
There isn't any reason given how that's even possible.
Just "maybe that's just how Junpei imagined All-Ice looked like :^)"
Like even if that's the case, why did he imagine Alice, who has the SAME NAME, and is someone he hadn't even met yet?
It's so outlandish and convoluted, it's baffling to me that you can't see what a blatant backpedal it is.
Anyone with half a brain can figure out that Uchi didn't initially plan for Alice's role to be what it ended up as.
We all know ZTD got rewritten to shit, what makes you think VLR's plot didn't change around during development as well?
Whatever it could've been would've been a lot more interesting than
>she's a secret agent, uh don't worry about her clothing though :^)
>only reason she's in the Nonary Game is because she can do math real good :^)
>Uchi didn't initially plan for Alice's role to be what it ended up as.
Yes, because he had literally no plan beyond 999 initially. I don't know where you got the idea that All-Ice was ever supposed to be a character.
>VLR's plot didn't change around during development as well
Because the first draft was written during development. ZE was not planned a series, especially not a trilogy. 999 was supposed to be a stand-alone title, the Alice tease was never a sequel hook. They didn't even consider a sequel until the game sold relatively well in the west. That interview "confirming" the hitchhiker's identity was conducted like 9 months before the western release. Alice not being All-Ice isn't changing a character (as there wasn't one before VLR) . It's deliberately using elements from 999 to mislead them.

God that was the worst shit about replaying it. I wish it had an all skip mode.
Aren't the game overs not part of his plan?
Unironically kino. Built tension really well.
They are there to strengthen his shifting powers.
His hands were explained to be robotic and you don't think old man sigma fucked with the sensors so they'd feel what young sigma would expect to feel?
