Lacrimosa of Dana is my fave, though I would say Felghana if it were a bit longer.

Attached: ys-terra1.jpg (500x1200, 87K)

Did the PC version of Lacrimosa get unfucked yet?

Origin is Kino

origins

just is I guess

Attached: 207350_screenshots_20190506191037_1.jpg (800x600, 161K)

Not really, but I just had to toggle off map shadows and I never experienced a single crash in 60 hours of play.

Attached: 1556312521986.jpg (1791x1269, 463K)

VIII my fav and best game overall. For once I actually cared about what the fuck is happening, and didn't just skip all dialog after few hours.
Also it seems like IX doesn't have any blue haired girls. Usually that's a sign of a shit Ys game.

Attached: 1527484146244.jpg (802x437, 52K)

Blue haired Adol though.

Attached: 001-12.jpg (1152x648, 174K)

Haha...nice thread you have here...

And what about slowdowns and stuttering?

I didn't run into much stuttering, but very rarely things would dip in framerate when everyone is popping their skills and you're surrounded by fifty bugs.

Origin and Felghana are both 10/10 for me, but I give the edge to Origin for having three playstyles even though Felghana has better bosses.

What’s his name again?

Bumper car style is would be Dawn of Ys, but over all Felghana. I'm playing through Ys 8 right now. I had not touched Ys since Celceta which was a hot piece of shit with a butchered OST and it turned me off from this style of game but 8 is a huge improvement at least. I'm still not very fond of this style honestly because all I've been fucking doing now is spamming Laxia's Lethal Raid, who thought this move was a good idea?

Attached: aa.jpg (1910x1080, 730K)

Oath didn't have any blue-haired girls, you know. And don't bring shit up like Ellefalle, you know that doesn't count

Attached: 1556032603145.jpg (688x650, 122K)

Main girl wears a blue dress to ballance it out

yeah okay buddy

VIII

Attached: CnNQ5ufUEAA1qlF.jpg orig.jpg (450x507, 61K)

Oath as a concise package, but I like the party games more in the context where we wait ~4 years for each game. I think VIII gives the best overall experience and of IX is the same but with needed flash guard and dodge I'll be very happy. Hopefully we don't have to wait 1+ year after release for a translation.

*NERFED flash guard fuck!!!

Seven, I hate twink nu adol

youtube.com/watch?v=KT-y7bZlpJM
Was it kino

The only thing that ever stood out to me about 7 was the art style and that part were you're thrown into the coliseum, mostly because of the music. I hated everything else the game though

youtube.com/watch?v=m8-ZE3_b7pQ

I was thinking of 100% all Ys on steam, are the time attack and the nightmare too hard?

Attached: 1499043777362.jpg (519x360, 49K)

Shit was revolutionary for its time, giving a nice overview of Ys with good voice acting and Adol's theme. Think it was one of the first times voice acting was ever put into video games, which is pretty impressive. But for me, Napishtim's intro is pure energetic adventurekino.

youtube.com/watch?v=PoyLvhCa0k4&

I don't know what it is about this theme that makes me a little misty-eyed. Possibly nostalgia for a different time.

Ys Origin has the best gameplay.
Ys 8 is a great all-rounder.
Dawn of Ys is the best classic one.

>not just importing it after the NISA fiasco we went through

Attached: D4oscucUUAEpADR.jpg large.jpg (725x800, 137K)

It's definitely my favorite starting off theme. Fuck Sunshine Coast

Does this happen with GOG version?

The final boss of the first game is brutal and will likely require lots of retries. Died like 60+ times on him on my nightmare run. The boss right before him is also very tough. I heard Ys II is slightly easier though. If you beat those, you will probably be able to handle the other games as well.

finished dawn of ys for first time. my goddesses what an amazing action rpg

Was it autism?

If it means quicker turnaround I'd gladly take NISA machine translation over XSNEED meme translation.

Hope they put Adol in an armor again after Monstrum Nox. It just ain't the same without it.

You're posting Satania so chances are yes

Attached: adolf.png (500x281, 178K)

I really like the characters and atmosphere of Nap better than Oath or Origin. Shame those two are naturally more polished as games.

Attached: 5e689d24.png (640x480, 611K)

How, user?

Adol? More like A-dolt.

Attached: dark-fact-ys-book-i-and-ii-1.8.jpg (210x240, 20K)

Sunshine Coast really grew on me. I was 50/50 on VIII starting out after sitting through years of Cold Steel and Tokyo Xanadu, but when the hook of that song came in after about a min I knew Ys Kino was on its way.

yeah, there's something bizarrely comfy about the isolation in Napishtim.

i had absolutely no tech problems with lacrimosa & finished ng++

>t. got bumped off one too many times
Keep seething like always, Fagt.

Attached: 1533180466592.png (272x304, 139K)

The fast-forward runs super choppy to me compared to Seven or Celceta, but otherwise I had zero issues.

Why does Dana suck so much? Even with all the best equipment on her, she needs to constantly drain her SP just to match everyone else damage and her skills really suck and it's pretty fucked up on of them is called Ice Age

I've always liked Ys I+II Eternal, Oath in Felghana and Ys Origins the most. I love the early Japanese PC feel of these games.

I finished Yunica's route for Origin and started Hugo's in normal to get to Toal. Now I wish I did hard because Hugo is Easy Mode.

>playing any game on anything lower than Nightmare (if available)
You're doing it wrong.

>Adol dyes his hair blue
>dies in the ending
bravo falcom

Seems like you overleveled your party. Dana is a fucking beast.

>implying that in the ending he wouldn't instead learn how to properly crush a wall or four

Attached: 1526963423260.jpg (175x175, 18K)

You either play Hugo on nightmare for very modest challenge or go very easy to blaze through to experience his story.

Attached: lameass.png (137x203, 67K)

>crush walls for years
>get knocked out by a brick
What a jobber.

Attached: Ys IV - The Dawn of Ys {HCD3051-4-1108-R1F} (J)-0084.png (864x696, 276K)

I shouldn't have started with felghana

That's where I started, and on nightmare too like some user told me. What's wrong?

>experience his story.
Hugo is a shit head. For all his shit talk he's the biggest dumbass in the game. Nobody in the franchise has ever come as close to being as much as a fuck up as he was.

Attached: dingus.png (947x697, 59K)

>something bizarrely comfy
I'll have you know that it's called adventure

Origin

Feena...

ufile.io/rdmjlo1t

Dunno about that, Chester comes close.

I'd go for Oath, the only game I go for 6 times just to get all the extras in the PSP. I wish you can start Inferno mode right away but doing it on Nightmare is not bad. Good thing Naphistim also has this similar option in the PC version where the item button is disabled. Finishing Inferno + Nightmare mode on it is pure fun, since you have no chance to stock up items.
Ys is the only game where I allow myself to be killed due to difficulty, since its easy to go back since literally git gud is the only solution. Doing the highest possible difficulty should be the get to go choice when playing Ys.

*blocks your paths*

He could have been at home balls deep in Frida. Instead he decided to be a massive emo fag.

I still can't believe how one man can be that gay.

Attached: frieda3.jpg (500x545, 73K)

Hey now, someone's apparently gotta reclaim the Ark for the ancestors making chink ripoffs of Eldeen artifacts, after all. Too bad he couldn't at least wield a chad halberd while doing it.

>tfw I'm the only one who likes Ys 1 and 2
Also I hacked my Vita and got Celceta and Dana. Which one should I play first?

>Needing human women when you've got three little homunculus sluts.

Attached: jue-ys-vs-trails-in-the-sky-alternative-saga-1.51.jpg (210x240, 19K)

I miss solo Adol.

Ys 8. The only one I've played...
but it's fun and the soundtrack is good.

>NISA will be forced to work on shitty kiseki instead of Ys
feels bad

>I'm the only one who likes Ys 1 and 2
Nah, you ain't. Also, I'd probably go with Dana, if you can't get the Switch or PS4 version. Celceta can essentially be replaced with Dawn, so might as well get an original experience first.

Attached: 1542592963271.png (270x340, 58K)

Is Celceta that bad?

I don't want to outright say bad, but it's certainly the most subpar party Ys game so far. One thing for sure is that Dana's a huge improvement over it. It's a toss-up, honestly, so play it first if you want to see improvement in other games.

Origin
I like that the whole game takes place in one tower.

Based

Attached: 1446149945031.jpg (1012x518, 355K)

Thanks user!
Only Adol's pirate costume seems to be working for some reason, though. Did I fuck up something? Maybe I should try it with a brand new installation.

Attached: ws.jpg (1317x733, 763K)

The weirdest part of Ys threads is seeing that there are people that actually like Geis. I don't think I've enjoyed beating the shit out of anyone in the series more than him.

It's the only one I can remember that I thought, "I can't wait to get this over with". Not bad, just kind of boring.

Celceta feels like it wasn't finished and the story is pretty uninspired. It's a good enough, responsive action game but some questionable decisions mean it wears out it's welcome by the end. VIII feels like what they wanted to do with Celceta but couldn't at the time.

>The weirdest part of Ys threads is seeing that there are people that actually like Geis.
Personally, I like him because there is someone that can be possibly a rival for Adol. Just look how miffed he is during Seven when he heard rumors about a red haired swordsman doing shit in Altago while he is trying to solve the same problem.

>UH, ALL THE SWORD PEOPLE OR "WARRIORS" AS I LIKE TO CALL THEM, GET OUT OF THIS TOWER BECAUSE IT'S FOR THIS SORCERER ONLY, UNDERSTAND? CAUSE IF YOU DON'T I WILL MAKE SWORD PEOPLE PETRIFIED AGAIN!!!

Attached: 1540492116805.png (700x920, 778K)

I can appreciate Geis for taking his place as second-banana with a reasonable amount of grace.

drive.google.com/drive/folders/1S6ilvuuRIeSADbIgLU77so5xNTd9ws0N

you could try copying over the entire dlc folder from this, maybe there wa some dependency

Really, Hugo? They don't make you ROCK hard?

Attached: dalles.png (355x355, 124K)

yes, the ost is a disgrace

>"you're an adventurer now"
>the end
>no closure for any of the party members or anyone else

Attached: 1527975536221.gif (598x450, 16K)

I liked it a lot. I do agree the ending is crap but it's really only a problem because I cared about the story to that point prior.

I wouldn't take that Dawn guy seriously either. He's always shooting off over on /fg/

Attached: karna 54.jpg (997x746, 296K)

Is Hugo an incel?

He's super autistic.

Attached: kamille.jpg (960x720, 60K)

Fuck off and fuck you
dumb primitive demon people of darkness always coming in here and ruining these good threads of Ys how dare they am I right

Attached: 1546032671845.png (788x184, 305K)

I can't beat the motherfucking desert plant boss in Origin hard mode holy fuck.

So, there are any plans on a Ys 5 remake? It's the last game that is left outdated in dead platforms.

>new to series
>bought Dana on Vita because it was collecting dust and wanted to justify buying it
>find out its the worst version and missing a bunch of content added to later releases
Is it worth purchasing again on Switch/PC or should I just accept my mistake?

>inb4 anyone says the Taito PS2 remake
They've remade 1, 2, 3, and the most recent remake is 4, so I'm willing to bet there are plans in the pipeline for it.

Anyone here play Tokyo Xanadu? Really liking it so far

they did remake it. Honestly Ys 5 is just really bland

>Hey Adol we need to go into the forest to solve the mystery
>Hey Adol I live deep in the forest and met you before and I know some stuff
>Hey Adol I live deep in the forest and met you before and I know some stuff
>Hey Adol I live deep in the forest and met you before and I know some stuff
>Hey Adol I was just fucking with you I actually knew everything the entire time, sorry!!
Worst party. Fuck them.

It was alright but I couldn't beat it in one go. I took a few months of stop and go play.

Eh, get a more recent version if you can. Substantial shit is cut out like dungeons and the like.

What content is it missing?

Yes. Didn't really like it at first, but at the time I had just come off Ys 8 which is a lot better. Gave it another chance later and now I love it

The PS2 remake is my only experience with 5, it was absolutely fucking terrible. I'm sure the SNES version is far better.

a lot of dana, a post game dungeon and some ng+ modes and best girl

Attached: io2.png (1042x1002, 1.64M)

>Substantial
meh two dungeons isn't that big of a deal

Why didn't they just make DLC for the Vita version? What the fuck Falcom?

Oh, and 60 fps

probably so they could milk people more haha

The PS2 game is terrible and no one should play that.
Also, both the original two Ys 4 were land games too, but the recent remake improved it alot.

*AHEM*
Fuck Ys and fuck niggers

>Kiseki shitters
Your entire series is trash.

haha

At least the Ys pedigree of bretty gud soundtracks still applies.

>Trails of Harems, Holding Back, and Not Dying
Kisekeks, everyone.

Attached: 1527196360403.png (1366x768, 1.46M)

While Dana's soundtrack is good I will always miss old Ys OST

Here's to another decade of nothing happening my fellow kisekichad.

BASED

based and utterly adventurepilled

chadol the redpilled

I honestly haven't played one since Ark of Napishtim, but I do remember loving that game back in the day.

>every single asshole in kiseki holds back
>adol holds back so hard he resets himself back to level 1 with no gear and sometimes no memories
Why does Falcom do this? Do their head writers all have group masturbation sessions to pictures of Toguro? What's the fucking point

Adol is an anguis and adventure so far he has traveled to the kisekichad dimension. Holding back is simply a job requirement for him.

Geis is Frank Grimes of the series. Someone who's personally invested in what's going on and works hard but does his research but gets nothing but shit on.
Then Random Redhead McAventure comes rolling in off a boat, doesn't know fuckall, steals all the women, becomes the chosen one of the prophecies, and stumbles into saving the day and Geis is the only one completely and utterly flabbergasted by this. And then he's forced to join Adol's party because it's the only way to get anywhere.
Ys Seven inserted him because making him suffer once wasn't enough. And I enjoyed every minute of that suffering.

Attached: FirmIdolizedBrownbear.webm (480x368, 101K)

The story is so painfully bad. Combat is not as good as Ys either.

You see, when Kiseki characters do it, it's always obvious that the writers are employing a narrative crutch to progress through a drawn out soap opera of nine games. But when Chadol does it, he's simply in a peak adventuring mindset. If the near-constant shipwrecks or sea storms that he suffers all the time aren't enough to get rid of his equipment, he tosses them overboard anyways in the middle of the ocean because the only way to truly adventure is to start over from Level 1 with no equipment whenever possible.
He also lays motionless in his ship's quarters for the 2+ month voyages so his muscles can atrophy.

No Artifacts.
No Gainz.
No Weapons.
No Armor
No Shield.
No money over 1000g.

Adventure only.

Attached: 1542453262772.png (598x448, 51K)

So, I've been trying to think of something Geis does that is actually useful. He does the talisman thing which really doesn't last very long, and kills Agares in 6 when he's holding one of the girls hostage. I don't even remember why he was in 7, but maybe his homonculous fairies acted as scouts? And then I don't remember anything about Celceta anyway. There has to be something he did behind the scenes, but I just can't think of anything that couldn't be reproduced by some random villager.

Joshuaaaaaa
dick please!

Attached: renne117.jpg (700x677, 74K)

Booting this shit up for the first time on my PS2 sitting in the den with my brother showered in only the glow of the CRT was absolute kino. Quite possibly one of the most well-done vidya intros. Thanks dad, I knew you had good taste in cover art.

Well, he did bring Adol to the secret dimension of the Iskan Tribe, which allowed him to get the Moon Dragon's power and beat up a blue-haired girl to save the day in Altago.

Attached: geis.jpg (900x1200, 90K)

Alright, that's not nothing. Maybe I should replay 7 and see if I can find something to improve my opinion of him.

youtube.com/watch?v=K6G_nFcAjDk

Got Ys origin and bought physical cause it seemed rare and wanted a copy

Why is this game so good? The characters actually have personality and don't care how others react to it.

Also the music is kino

Origin becomes an even better experience if you played Ys 1 and 2

Your first time to Ys, tripfag? Well, you better prepare yourself for some truly adventurous ARPGkino, the likes of which you've probably never seen and heard before in your life.

Attached: AdoltheShred.png (1920x1080, 577K)

Thanks Ysbros. I've never even played any of the games before, but Ys threads are comfy.

My favorite is Ys Origin. When I get a new desktop, I will be able to play Ys 7 and 8.

what kinda of potato do you have that cant handle a psp game?

Pretty sure you can play 7 on the shitiest Intel HD laptops from 5 years ago (as I did).

Attached: 1303162839922.png (463x640, 215K)

I remember emulating 7 on my x220 and it ran perfectly fine.

Are Adol and Doge like 30 in IX?

Seeing them look regal is pretty weird

>Mr. Ratburn was actually Ernst all along
Who would've thought it, what with both being mighty gay and all

That was a weird episode

Adol is 24 and Dogi is 29, this time around. It's the most recent adventure in the timeline for Adol, so he's starting to grow into his prime age.

20/21 I think. It's right after 8 and before 5 6 7

Source? I tought it's

What order do I play these games and which platform is the best for each game?

used to be scattered all over the place, but these days its all just PC baybee

Its this. There were very early reports that it would take place before 6, but either those were wrong or Falcom changed their mind mid development.

What's wrong with his butt

The Ys series is standalone like FF, so you can theoretically jump into any game as a starting point. Most usually start with Chronicles, Oath, or VIII, but here's a guide if you want it.
Other things:
>The bump games are kino, don't skip out on those.
>No one cares about Mask of the Sun when we have Dawn of Ys, even if Sun is canon.
>Oath and Origin are usually considered the best and must-plays.
>Bring headphones and turn up the volume as well; you won't regret it.

Attached: ysguidev2.png (1600x900, 145K)

how will adol the red lose all of his equipment this time?

5 takes place before 8 so that can't be right.

saved, thanks man

Will we see some of these in our lifetime?

Attached: 2121.jpg (703x108, 86K)

If it's not from a shipwreck, it'll be from getting arrested by those fucking Romuns.

Hard to find all the games, at least the GOG releases.

Mugged by a foul temptress trying to lead him off the path of adventure.

North Pole is thought to be very, very much near the end of Adol's life (we're talking within a year), so that's not happening anytime soon unless it's for the grand finale of Ys and Adol's adventures.

Playing on a Vita is super comfy though
