what exactly went wrong?
What exactly went wrong?
niggers
Leon isn't kissing me on the lips right now.
I am not having unprotected sex with Claire right now
Leon not fucking Claire.
Just about everything.
Not only was the dev team bunch of incompetent nufags, they also appealed to the action-fag audiences who never cared of RE in the first place. Finally, the game was rushed out, leaving tons of planned content out.
RE2make is more of a survival horror game than the original RE2 is.
japs dont know how to count so they started with 2 instead of 1
>Just about everything.
Then explain why the game was a commercial and critical success
>new score is shit, and original score is dlc
>too much ammo even on hardcore. You have enough ammo in hardcore to make plenty of safety routes while also comfortably killing all bosses.
>Mr. X is only cool for about 1 minute. Then he is just another ever present enemy that weve dealt with before a billion times.
>Labratory level was kinda boring compared to everything else you get to explore.
>codes and puzzle solutions never vary, making re-play value not as fun
>dlc didnt add anything interesting. Sure it was free, I still got bored playing it after 2 minutes.
>dont get to fuck Ada without mods
>shotgun is as gamey as shotguns can be. worthless at any range other than inside an enemy's nostrils
Just the AB scenarios not connecting like they did in the original. Beyond that it's fucking fantastic. Such a tightly designed game.
No differences between the scenarios, a shit stain of a soundtrack and fucked up the canon. It’s a solid 8/10.
Shotguns actually do reduced damage to lickers and most bosses. Useless in that regard.
Nothing, it's a great game, the only minor complaints to be had is it wasn't a remake in the same caliber as REmake, which will probably be never topped as far as balancing both respect to original content and improving/adding content.
If RE8 uses RE:2 as a template, we're in for some good times.
I'm talking about normal zam sams, not licks or bosses.
Also, other guy said it and I forgot, but I want to add that no real continuity between A and B playthroughs is dumb.
Shotguns do enough damage to kill 90% of zombies in 2 bodyshots from medium range. Even if the heads aren't popping, the zombies still take like 500 HP damage per shell if you accurately aim for center of mass (a typical zombie has 500-1100 HP), and they take more if you are closer to them and connect more pellets
That's the thing. Heads should be popping at medium range with a shotgun, but they dont.
And you dont need to explain HURR DURR WELL EACH PELLET DOES I FUCK MY SISTER AMOUNT OF DAMAGE SO BECAUSE OF SPREAD YOU CANT KILL A ZOMBIE AT THAT RANGE WITH THE NUMBER OF PELLOTS HITTING
That doesnt justify it, that just explains why it sucks.
I like the remake and paid full price for it on day one, but the argument "it sold and reviewed well so it must automatically be good" is fucking stupid and not a good counterpoint
So you want the shotgun to be even more OP? It already trivializes zombies to the point where it alone makes Leon's arsenal better than Claire's, despite almost all her other weapons being better
honestly?
the lack of a more coherent B game story
but that doesnt matter as much cause its pretty much a top tier RE game.
fun side fact - when youre wearing Leons street clothes his white sneakers will squeak when he runs or stops suddenly or turns fast. but its only that costume.
wearing 7.1 surround sound headphones really points out that this game has 10/10 SOUND DESIGN.
>fucked up the canon
it's not canon though?
The extra modes were crap, but then the original games weren't anything to write home about either.
They completely half assed the A and B scenarios. If they weren't going to commit to it why even try? A remake is a chance to do something different. How about 1 long campaign, or a dedicated Leon campaign and dedicated Clair campaign? Anything is better.
Too many lock combination puzzles. There was 1 in the original game and that was enough.
Pretty good game though 4/5.
This. Honestly fuck Claire's entire arsenal, by the end of the game I had like 9 fucking acid rounds just from never using the Pistol because its fucking terrible and the Flame rounds nuke zombies hard. The Spark Shot is just stupid and I never got a feel for the SMG so I solo'd her entire A campaign using nothing but the grenade launcher and still had dickloads of ammo for the final boss.
Leon, meanwhile, felt much tighter for ammo on my first playthrough and every gun felt like it had a point. The Shotgun just straight up not working on Lickers felt retarded but other than that Leon's campaign balances out so much better than Claire's.
The shotty is so fucking rewarding too.
>they also appealed to the action-fag audiences
Sounds just like the original RE2
spark shot is EZ mode for the G monsters and thats basically it's sole purpose aside from dicking around
Survival horror was never good.
Dumb as fuck "puzzles" which are mostly just carrying random ovjects between rooms while avoiding notscary zombies and watching dumb cutscenes with atrocious writing
>They completely half assed the A and B scenarios.
this 100%
this is the main reason why i still consider the original to be superior, RE games are normally short but REmake 2 is way too fucking short for being a mainline RE title, i swear it FEELS like there were a LOT of cut content and they just slapped as much as they could together and that's it.
it is not a bad game, far from it, it's amazing, but it's not perfect.
When did I say it must be good? I just want to hear how it makes sense that "just about everything" went wrong when the game was commercially and critically successful. Is it not the goal of every game to be successful and acclaimed?
it pretty much evolved out of the point and click genre where you find object A on screen 7 and need to take it back to screen 2.
i dont think you can do horror well in video games on its own
her laser-sight handgun that you find in the trunk of the cop car is far and away the best pistol in the game. Way better than Leon's fully upgraded 9mm or any of the Samurai Edges, and nearly on-par with his .45 cal pistol (M1911). Every single shot is considered focused like you let the crosshairs shrink
Claire's guns are good though. Pistol has instant focus so you don't need to worry about standing still aiming, grenade launcher turns tough enemies into jokes with the fire animation, SMG is a killing machine which can also be efficiently used against regular zombies, unlike Leon's magnum. She also gets a babby magnum too as a bonus, even if it's not as good as Leon's.
Spark shot kinda sucks most of the time, but that's only one gun, and it comes pretty late in the game anyway.
It falls into the "great game that could've been even better" category. Map design suffer after RPD. The game could've used a little more enemy variety, but I feel like there would be a need for more places to go to fit them in (and I'm looking at the game as a standalone one to say that, not as a remake). Lack of some kind of item/enemy randomizer for subsequent playthroughs. Too much ammo and, lastly I would've liked more cutscenes, but that's personal preference because I've always liked them in the older survival horror games.
B scenarios should not have even been in the game. They just put them in (probably at the last second) because the fans would riot if they weren't there. The game was not designed around them though, and would be better if they'd just focused more on making Leon and Claire's A scenarios longer and more different.
I felt like the JMB was fine but by the time I got it I had so much goddamn grenade launcher ammo that I barely needed it. I think I only used the SMG on the dogs before the Orphanage.
Oh yeah, I used the SMG on the Ivy zombies to pop their pods, but only because I was deliberately trying to avoid nuking everything with the grenade launcher.
I think the idea was to make the differences stack. A and B aren't too different on their own. But Leon A Standard (low adaptive difficulty, aiming for A rank) and a Claire B Hardcore (high adaptive difficulty, aiming for S+ rank) are like night and day, for example.
Lack of DLC.
