Dark moon, was dark Doo Doo. If it had less random cutscenes and stops for dialogue, I would have enjoyed it more. Luigi's Mansion has a perfect balance of starts and stops and solid blocks of gameplay.

No its still a solid game and it holds up nicely. The second is way better and its got charm much like an old looney tunes.

Why the fuck does everyone automatically assume everyone loves the first Luigi's Mansion? It's like Mario Sunshine, some absolutely love it and others think it was really bad.
I personally thought it was just OK. The sequel was also just OK. The first one had a nice charm to it with the ghost families but lacked in variety. The second one had a lot of variety but lacked charm, especially in the segments where you were just rescuing toads. The unique human-like ghosts of the first game were replaced with more standardized ghosts, which while having a lot of fun variety in fighting, were also dull in design.

mostly right but the ghost designs felt a bit like downgrades from the first game, granted it's not supposed to be silent hill but the dark moon ones didn't feel as varied and i dunno, the originals waren't scary but they still felt like they warranted a gasp from luigi
